THE BIG MISTAKE

AA

RAVENOUS WOLVES MEETING WITH EACH OTHER (MATT. 7: 15)!

Evangelical charismatics = NO DISCERNMENT. They lean on their own understanding, extra biblical “dreams, visions and “words of knowledge” instead of Sola Scriptura – Scripture alone — Well look at them now >>> The names of the delegates in the photograph (Left to Right) are: Carol Arnott, John Arnott (Partners in Harvest), Brian Stiller (World Evangelical Alliance), Kenneth Copeland (KCM), Pope Francis, Thomas Schirrmacher (WEA), Geoff Tunnicliffe (WEA), James & Betty Robison (Life Outreach International) and Tony Palmer (The Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches & The Order of the Ark Community).

The big mistake that is being made is that these people are not “Charismatic Christians” but rather they are “false Charismatic Evangelical Christians”. It is a dis-service to the Holy Spirit to call them “Charismatic” because they have counterfeit/false gifts which do not come from the Holy Spirit: false prophecy, false tongues, false everything (Matt. 24: 24; Mk. 13: 22). Their false works tell us clearly that they “have received the mark of the beast” (Rev. 19: 20). They are not of the fellowship of Jesus Christ as you can see them standing together with the pope. I guess the best thing we can say about them is that they are today’s Scribes and Pharisees of whom, as Jesus said, “You are wrong because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God” (Matt. 22: 29).

Jesus publically rebuked Pharisees and even called them names. (Go reread the gospels).

Many mistakenly believe that it is wrong to expose error and to name the guilty teachers; but they are wrong according to the Bible. They warned by letter and by Mouth those to shun and to avoid.
Paul named Peter publicly.
Paul named Demas for loving the world.
Paul named Hymenaeus and Alexander.
Paul named Hymenaeus and Philetus.
Paul named Alexander the coppersmith.
John named Diotrephes

What kind of love lets wolves like these men decimate the flock of God. If you were about to drink deadly poison, would it be love for me to stand by and not warn you?

The Pope teaches another gospel and another Jesus and worships, prays to and bows down to Mary. He is an idol worshipper. What fellowship has light with darkness?

The Bible Admonishes us to expose error, not join in with it and condone it.

Eph 5:11 “Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them”

“Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. ” 2 Tim 4:2-3

“A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;” Titus 3:10

But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.” 1 Cor 5:11-13

“Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.” 2 Thess 3:6

For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul? — Mark 8:36

On the 21 st of January this year (2014) during his organisation’s annual “Minister’s Conference”, Kenneth Copeland, his “ministry”, and attendees received a personal video message from Pope Francis. Kenneth Copeland Ministries’ YouTube channel says, concerning the message, that everyone was “greatly inspired”[1] by it.

What was everyone inspired about? That Pope Francis called the protestant reformation the sin of disunity[2] and that he is looking forward to protestant’s repenting and coming back into the fold? Pope Francis didn’t make that statement in exactly those words, but this is what it boils down to, what it always boils down to with the Roman Catholic Church.

The Roman Catholic Church has always believed, and still believes, that it is the doorway to God and heaven, that the Pope is the Head of the Church, and that the Pope is the Vicar of Christ (rather than the Holy Spirit). Has the Roman Catholic Church repented of its doctrine of transubstantiation (i.e. bread and wine turning into the body and blood of Christ during the Mass)? No. Has the Roman Catholic Church repented of its heretical doctrine of purgatory (atoning in purgatory for your own sins, rather than Christ alone atoning for your sins)? No. … and then there is a host of other heretical, if not blasphemous teachings for which the Roman Catholic Church and their Pontiffs are responsible and of which they have never repented.

What did the reformers die for? Nothing according to the Pope, and apparently Kenneth Copeland agrees with him. The reformers said, “NO!” to the Popes of their day, “NO!” to the Roman Catholic Church, and “YES!” to God and His Word. The Reformation came about through the reading of the Bible (as opposed to it being hidden by being read in Latin when the common folk did not understand it). The Roman Catholic Church has always tried to hide, shroud and conceal the Word of God – Kenneth Copeland has merely joined their ranks.

Kenneth Copeland has gone from being a popular False Prophet, to being profitable for the counter-reformation movement of Rome. All this does is to further confirm that Kenneth Copeland is not only a false prophet, but a wolf in sheep’s clothing. A true prophet hears from and speaks the Word of God, which does not contradict Scripture. Where is spirit-led-Copeland headed? To the city on seven hills, to Rome, to the Vatican, to Spiritual Babylon.

And he carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness; and I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast, full of blasphemous names, having seven heads and ten horns. The woman was clothed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a gold cup full of abominations and of the unclean things of her immorality, and on her forehead a name was written, a mystery, “BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.” And I saw the woman drunk with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesus. When I saw her, I wondered greatly. — Revelation 17:3-6

Peter, in his first epistle (1 Peter 5:13), euphemistically called Rome (where he was at the time) Babylon. Peter knew it, the first-century Christians knew it, the reformers knew it, but the Profit Copeland doesn’t, or he doesn’t care.

There is more to say regarding Kenneth Copeland, Charismatics, Emergents and the Road to Rome … but we will bring you more in a future edition of CETF.

[2] Pope Francis’ message is irenic, and regarding Roman Catholic and Protestant disunity he said, “…it’s sin that has separated us, all our sins. The misunderstandings throughout history. It has been a long road of sins that we all shared in. Who is to blame? We all share the blame. We have all sinned. There is only one blameless, the Lord.” But, one must remember that many of the Protestant Reformers at the outset of the Reformation were ex-Roman Catholic priests. There was no “misunderstanding”; they knew full well what Rome taught and knew how Catholic doctrine and dogma corrupted the Word of God. And Rome knew full well why the Reformers left – and that is why Pope after Pope has pronounced anathemas against Protestants. All that is happening now is that the Devil is trying a different tact.

Heresy Preacher Priest Tony Palmer Dead After Urging Christians To Unite With Rome

| July 21, 2014 | 4 Comments

God appears to have relieved Tony Palmer of his command

And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.” Revelation 18:4

Just months after Anglican priest and personal friend to Pope Francis Tony Palmer gave  a rousing performance urging Christians to place themselves under the authority of the Roman Catholic system, he appears to have died suddenly in a motorcycle accident.

Tony Palmer had said that he was a “prophet in the spirit of Elijah”, and that his mission was to unite the Christian evangelical church with the Roman Catholic system. He declared “Martin Luther’s protest to be over”, and said that it was time for “Christians to come home to Rome”.  Tony’s deluded vision of seeing Christians “coming home to Rome” will also die with him.

“Tony Palmer, the charismatic young preacher who enjoyed a friendship with Pope Francis, has apparently died in a motorcycle accident,” Kathy Schiffer reported on her Seasons of Grace blog. “Not a Catholic, Palmer was bishop in the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches, a group that broke away from the Anglican Church and considered itself part of the Convergence Movement.”

SO WHEN IS THE POPE GOING TO GIVE AWAY THE WEALTH OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH TO FEED AND CLOTHE THE POOR?

Mark 10:21 Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me.”

popeWhy Did Copeland, Robison Meet With Pope Francis?

Two prominent Fort Worth-based Christian ministers led a delegation of Evangelical Christian leaders to Rome to meet privately with Pope Francis.

James and Betty Robison, co-hosts of the Life Today television program, and Kenneth Copeland, co-host of Believer’s Voice of Victory, met the Roman Pontiff at the Vatican on Tuesday.  The meeting lasted almost three hours and included a private luncheon with Pope Francis.

Mr. Robison told the Fort Worth Star Telegram, “This meeting was a miracle…. This is something God has done. God wants his arms around the world. And he wants Christians to put his arms around the world by working together.”

Mr. Robison said he was impressed by Pope Francis’ humility and courtesy to the visiting delegation of Evangelical Protestant Christian leaders.

In a written statement, Mr. Robison said he believes “the prayers of earnest Christians helped lead to the choice of Pope Francis.”  He described Jorge Mario Bergoglio, the Argentine Archbishop chosen as Pope, as “a humble man…filled with such love for the poor, downtrodden…”

In addition to Mrs. Betty Robison, the high-profile Protestant delegation included Kenneth Copeland, co-founder of Kenneth Copeland Ministries in Newark, TX; Reverend Geoff Tunnicliff, CEO of the World Evangelical Alliance; Rev. Brian Stiller and Rev. Thomas Schirrmacher, also from the World Evangelical Alliance; and Rev. John Arnott and his wife, Carol, co-founders of Partners for Harvest ministries in Toronto, Canada.  Gloria Copeland did not travel to Rome because of a previously scheduled commitment.

The ecumenical meeting in Rome was organized by Episcopal Bishop Tony Palmer.  Rev. Palmer is an ordained bishop in the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches, a break-away alliance of charismatic Anglican-Episcopal churches.  Bishop Palmer is also the Director of The Ark Community, an international interdenominational Convergent Church online community, and is a member of the Roman Catholic Ecumenical Delegation for Christian Unity and Reconciliation.

Bishop Palmer developed a friendship with Pope Francis when the future Roman Pontiff was a Catholic official in Argentina.  Prior to becoming a CEEC bishop, Rev. Palmer was the director of the Kenneth Copeland Ministries’ office in South Africa.  He is married to an Italian Roman Catholic woman.  He later moved to Italy and began working to reconcile Roman Catholics and Protestants.  Kenneth Copeland Ministries was one of Mr. Palmer’s first financial contributors over 10 years ago in support of his ecumenical work in Italy.

Earlier this year, Pope Francis called Bishop Palmer to invite him to his residence in Vatican City.  During the meeting, Bishop Palmer suggested that the Pope record a personal greeting on Mr. Palmer’s iPhone to be delivered to Kenneth Copeland.  Mr. Copeland showed the Papal video greeting to a conference of Protestant ministers who were meeting at Mr. Copeland’s Eagle Mountain International Church near Fort Worth, Texas.  In the video, Pope Francis expressed his desire for Christian unity with Protestants.

Later, James Robison telecasted the video on his daily TV program, Life Today.  “The pope, in the video, expressed a desire for Protestants and Catholics to become what Jesus prayed for — that Christians would become family and not be divided,” Mr. Robison said the response to the video was very positive, and that Pope Francis asked Bishop Palmer whether a meeting could be arranged with Evangelical Protestants seeking Christian unity in the world.

In his written statement released after the Papal meeting, Mr. Robison said he was “blessed to be part of perhaps an unprecedented moment between evangelicals and the Catholic Pope.”  He described the Protestant delegation’s private meeting with the leader of the Roman Catholic Church as “an intimate circle of prayerful discussion and lunch to discuss not only seeing Jesus’ prayer answered, but that every believer would become a bold, joy-filled witnesses for Christ.

In describing the ecumenical gathering as a miracle, Mr. Robison said, “This is something God has done. God wants his arms around the world. And he wants Christians to put his arms around the world by working together.”

During the luncheon on Tuesday, Mr. Robison got a high-five from Pope Francis after the Pope and Protestant guests talked about the need for all people to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  According to the Life Today host, the Roman Pontiff did not know what a high-five was until Bishop Palmer explained it to him in Italian.  Mr. Robison said, “The Pope made it very clear that he wanted every believer to become Spirit-filled, joy-filled witnesses.”

Mr. Robison said Pope Francis had written recently, “Too many Catholics look like they’ve been to Lent with no Easter. It’s a mistake for them to look like they’ve been to a funeral” as he challenged Catholics to witness and never try to control the Holy Spirit, but yield to Him.

Mr. Robison said he received a divine call from God to seek Christian unity while he was hospitalized several years ago with a serious staph infection following hip surgery.  Robison recalled, “[I] was so weak I could not lift a cup of water to my lips…God got my full attention…He spoke to me through Isaiah 58:6-12 and I saw the importance of living in freedom, touching the suffering, the hungry, poor, and downtrodden. I recognized the promise that our prayers would be answered quickly and we would become a free-flowing stream and a well-watered garden, restoring the foundations upon which we must build. During that time God instructed me to focus my attention on Jesus’ prayer and encouraging others to begin fulfilling it through us in our day.”

During that time, he said, he was impressed by a prayer of Jesus in John 17:21, pleading that all Christian believers be one.  “We’ve tried to focus on being an answer to Jesus’ prayer,” Robison said. “We want to see Jesus’ prayer for unity answered in our day.”

Aware that the meeting with the Pope will be troublesome among staunch Protestants, Mr. Robison said he and the other visiting Evangelical Christian leaders talked about diversity and their belief that Roman Catholics and Protestants could work together without compromising their beliefs.

“The world is suffering,” said Robison. “We as Christians have too much love to share without fighting one another.”

Mr. Robison said he and other “respected Evangelical leaders and Spirit-filled Catholics began meeting together to pray for God’s will to be done and to bring true believers together in supernatural unity….We have been commanded to love God with all of our heart and our neighbors as ourselves. The enemy has kept many Christians from loving one another as Christ loves us and have failed to recognize the importance of supernatural unity even with all of the unique diversity.”

Mr. Robison, whose ministry digs water wells and supplies food for impoverished people in third-world nations, recounted that he was christened as a fatherless boy in an Episcopal Church.  As an adult, he joined the Southern Baptist Church.  In the 1980s, he became one of the first prominent Southern Baptist ministers to openly proclaim he had received the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Pope Francis Meets With Kenneth Copeland, James Robison – High Fives Ensue

Pope Francis meets with Copeland and Robison
Televangelists including Kenneth Copeland and James Robison met with Pope Francis, resulting in the first ever papal “high-five.” (LIFE Outreach International, Kenneth Copeland Ministries)

What does it take to produce the first-ever papal high-five? A meeting with American televangelists, apparently.

The gesture came during a three-hour meeting of Pope Francis and Texas televangelists Kenneth Copeland and James Robison, just weeks after the pontiff met with televangelist Joel Osteen and other religious leaders. At the June 24 meeting, Robison said he was so moved by Pope Francis’ message of the gospel that he asked the translator to ask Francis for a high-five. The pope obliged, raised his arm and the two men smacked hands.

The televangelists are among some wealthier U.S. evangelicals who have recently met with Francis, who has called for a focus on the poor and a simple lifestyle for clergy. In March, the pope met with members of the Green family, the Oklahoma billionaires whose company, Hobby Lobby, won their challenge to President Obama’s contraception coverage mandate at the Supreme Court last week.

Robison said he was born into the Episcopal Church but didn’t have a “born-again” conversion until later in life, the kind of story he sees among many Protestants and Catholics. “There are a lot of evangelicals and Catholics who don’t know Christ,” he said.

In fact, Francis’ meeting may reflect a shift in emphasis within the papacy. His predecessor, Benedict XVI, regularly bemoaned the decline of Christianity in his native Germany and across Europe. In contrast, the Argentine Francis comes from a region where competition from Pentecostalism is one of the biggest challenges facing the Catholic Church, Peppard said.

As unusual as it might seem for a pope meet with celebrity Protestant preachers, the potential awkwardness goes both ways. While some praised Robison for going to Rome, others said Protestants and Catholics have too many differences, on issues that include the role of the Bible, saints, the status of the Virgin Mary and the nature of salvation. “Very disappointed in you James and Betty. Never forget the Inquisition — Never forget!” one commenter wrote on Robison’s website.

But Robison said he and Francis found common ground in caring for the poor.

“I don’t see him as presenting himself as infallible,” Robison said of Pope Francis. “He’s been to confession. He asks for prayer. He’s anxious to apologize on (behalf) of Catholic leadership.”

Osteen’s meeting with Francis on June 4 was part of a larger gathering coordinated by the International Foundation, also known as “the Fellowship.” Osteen was joined by Utah Sen. Mike Lee, a Mormon; California pastor Tim Timmons; and Gayle D. Beebe, president of evangelical Westmont College.

The June 24 meeting leaned particularly toward charismatic Christianity. Other guests were Anthony Palmer, a bishop and international ecumenical officer with the independent Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches; Geoff Tunnicliffe, the outgoing head of the Worldwide Evangelical Alliance; and John and Carol Arnott of Catch the Fire Toronto, which grew out of a Pentecostal revival 20 years ago.

The pope met with more than 50,000 Catholic charismatics in Rome last month, admitting he was not always comfortable with the way they prayed. Still, he knelt on stage as they prayed for him and spoke in tongues. “Where does division come from? The devil!” Francis told them. “Division comes from the devil. Flee from internal struggles, please!”

Pentecostal and charismatic Christians  – charismatics are often Pentecostals in other churches, including the Catholic Church — share much in common, such as speaking in tongues and healing. Together, they make up at least 584 million people in the world, about 9 percent of the global population and one in four Christians worldwide, according to the Pew Research Center.

And that’s probably partly why Francis extended the invitation to the U.S. pastors. The Rev. Wesley Granberg-Michaelson, a veteran of Catholic-Protestant ecumenical groups and the author of “From Times Square to Timbuktu: The Post-Christian West Meets the Non-Western Church,” said Pentecostalism is growing in the Global South at three times the rate of Catholic growth, especially among the poor.

“My guess is that Francis knows this community can’t be ignored,” Granberg-Michaelson said. “Certainly, Francis would want to encourage Catholic charismatics to feel at home, as well as build ecumenical relationships with the Pentecostal community — and those reinforce one another. That’s also why what he is doing is both ecumenically creative, and makes sense.”

A flawed “theology of suffering.

CATHOLICS ARE NOT TRUE CHRISTIANS AS THEY TEACH LIES. ” In Mother Teresa’s words: “The most beautiful gift for a person is that he can participate in the sufferings of Christ.” Therefore, the Catholic who suffers the most is closest to Christ. When you remove suffering, you remove Christ. Instead of minimizing their suffering, Mother Teresa ensured it. Alleviating suffering, let alone eliminating it, was out of the question. Seen from this perspective, her behavior toward her patients makes sense.

Instead of curing them, Mother Teresa gave the bare minimum of treatment, resulting in suffering for most and death for some. She gave insufficient or outdated medicine, reused old syringes, and gave cold baths to all patients, even those who could find comfort in a warm one. She’d refuse to install elevators for the disabled, even when the city government offered to pay for it. Instead of hiring competent doctors, she’d rely on incompetent volunteers because she believed strongly that ignorance was more valuable than expertise (Livemore 93, 156).

Instead of being true hospitals or hospices, the establishments run by Mother Teresa were more like prisons at best: The patients, if they were well enough to escape, probably would. At worst, they were torture chambers. She’d refuse to give painkillers even to dying patients who were suffering unbearable pain. Instead of using painkillers, she’d comfort patients by saying, “You are suffering, that means Jesus is kissing you.” One poor patient replied, “Then tell your Jesus to stop kissing me.”

Holy Hypocrite

What makes all this worse is the fact that Mother Teresa had the resources to make things better. Estimates of donations reach the millions — even billions — of dollars. Unfortunately, we can never be sure. In the same way that Mother Teresa’s atrocities remain a secret, Missionaries of Charity remains the only charitable organization in India that refuses to reveal how much money they have and how they spend it:

Mother Teresa: Blessed Billionaire, Holy Hypocrite

Mother Teresa did believe that the sufferings of her patients was meritorious for their eventual release from Purgatory. Back in 1996 Dave Hunt addressed the fraudulent claims about Mother Teresa. http://www.thebereancall.org/content/october-1996-q-and-a-1

money in the hand of businessman6 Really Bad Charismatic Doctrines We Should Retire

10:00AM EDT 5/7/2014    J. Lee Grady

I will never apologize for being a charismatic Christian. I had a dramatic experience with the Holy Spirit many years ago, and nobody can talk me out of it. I love the Holy Spirit’s abiding presence in my life and His supernatural gifts. I love to prophesy, speak in tongues, pray for the sick and see people changed by the Spirit’s power.

At the same time, I’m aware that since the charismatic movement began in the 1960s, people have misused the gifts of the Spirit and twisted God’s Word to promote strange doctrines or practices. Seeing these errors never caused me to question the authenticity of what the Holy Spirit had done in my life. But I knew I had to stay true to God’s Word and reject any false teachings I encountered.

My simple rule is based on 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22: “But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good; abstain from every form of evil” (NASB). In other words: Eat the meat and spit out the bones.

As I have traveled throughout the body of Christ in recent years, I’ve experienced the good, the bad and the ugly. I love God’s people, and I know there is a healthy remnant of Spirit-filled churches that are striving to stay grounded in biblical truth. But I also know we have reached a crossroads. We must clean up our act. We must jettison any weird doctrines we might have believed or practiced that are hindering our growth today.

Here are a few of the worst errors that have circulated in our movement in the past season. You may have others that need to be added to this list. I believe we are grieving the Holy Spirit if we continue to practice these things:

1. “Touch not My anointed.” Chances are you’ve heard this weird doctrine based on 1 Chronicles 16:22. In an attempt to discourage any form of disagreement in the church, insecure leaders tell their members that if they ever question church authority, they are “touching the Lord’s anointed” and in danger of God’s judgment. Let’s call this what it is: spiritual manipulation. It creates worse problems by ruling out healthy discussion and mutual respect. Church members end up being abused or controlled—or even blacklisted because they dare to ask a question.

2. Dual covenant. We charismatics love and respect Israel. Some of us even incorporate Jewish practices in our worship—such as wearing prayer shawls, blowing shofars or celebrating Hebraic feasts. These things can enrich our Christian experience—but some leaders go too far when they begin to teach that Jews don’t need to believe in Jesus Christ to experience salvation. They imply that Jews have special access into heaven simply because of their ethnic heritage. This is a flagrant contradiction of everything the New Testament teaches.

3. Inaccessible leadership. In the 1980s, some charismatic ministries began to teach pastors and traveling ministers that in order to “protect the anointing,” they must stay aloof from people. Ministers were warned to never make friends in their congregations. Preachers began the strange practice of skipping worship on Sunday mornings—and then appearing on the stage only when it was time for the sermon in order to make a dramatic entrance. Shame on these people for attempting to justify arrogance. Jesus loved people, and He made Himself available to them. So should we.

4. Armor-bearers. The same guys who developed item No. 3 started this strange fad. Preachers began the practice of surrounding themselves with an entourage: one person to carry the briefcase, another person to carry the Bible, another to carry the handkerchief. Some preachers hired bodyguards … and even food-tasters! The armor-bearers were promised special blessings if they served preachers who acted like slave-owners. Reminder: True leaders are servants, not egomaniacs.

5. The hundredfold return. Before his death in 2003, Kenneth Hagin Sr., the father of the faith movement, rebuked his own followers for taking prosperity teaching to a silly extreme. In his book The Midas Touch, he begged preachers to stop misusing Mark 10:28-30 to suggest that God promises a hundredfold return on every offering we give. Hagin wrote, “If the hundredfold return worked literally and mathematically for everyone who gave in an offering, we would have Christians walking around with not billions or trillions of dollars, but quadrillions of dollars!” Hagin taught that the hundredfold blessing refers to the rewards that come to those who leave all they have to serve God in ministry.

6. Money cometh. Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for giving money publicly to be seen by others. Yet in the 1990s, some charismatics got the wild idea that God would release a magical blessing if we would drop wads of dollar bills at the preacher’s feet while he was in the middle of his sermon. Leroy Thompson of Louisiana popularized this flamboyant practice with his infamous 1996 sermon, in which he encouraged people to shout in King James English, “Money! Cometh to me now!” Then the people would run to the front of the auditorium to pour cash into his coffers. The money came, for sure, and more cash-hungry preachers jumped on the bandwagon. Taking an offering became a form of exhibitionism, and Christians began viewing their offerings like lottery scratch-offs.

God requires holiness not just in our behavior but also in our doctrine. Let’s discard these and any other foolish teachings that have brought confusion and dishonor to the body of Christ.

YEAR IN REVIEW: Mike Bickle: What’s Wrong With Grace?

Editor’s Note: 2013 was a big year in the church—and in the world. This week we’re looking at some of the biggest stories of the year, selected based on feedback from our readers. Thanks for reading Charisma News this year and stay tuned as we continue expanding our coverage in 2014 to include more spiritual insights on the stories that matter most to you.

The most powerful, significant and liberating message ever given to the human race is the gospel of grace. The Christian life is established on the foundation of this wonderful truth, which emphasizes what Christ did for us on the cross and what the Holy Spirit does in us in our daily life. Paul’s dramatic declaration that we have become new creations in Christ has vast implications for our lives: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away … all things have become new … that we [our spirit] might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Cor. 5:17-21).

The “he” that is a new creation is our spirit man. We possess the very righteousness of God in our spirit (v. 21). This describes our new legal position in Christ—how God sees and relates to us. In Christ, all things have become new pertaining to our spirit. This includes being fully accepted by God, receiving the authority to use the name of Jesus and possessing the indwelling Holy Spirit—all of which enable us to resist sin, sickness and Satan; to walk in victory; and to release the works of God through prayer. The old things that passed away under this legal shift include no longer being under the penalty of sin nor being dominated by the power of sin.

So what’s the problem if we’ve been given such freedom as new creations? Unfortunately, man’s natural tendency to distort truth gets in the way. And when it comes to a truth as fundamental and crucial as grace, that distortion has far-reaching implications. In short, it can become the central crisis of an entire generation.

The Crisis of Our Time

The apostle Jude confronted the great spiritual crisis of his day when he exhorted believers to contend earnestly for the “faith” or for the message of grace originally delivered to them through the first apostles. In Jude 3-4, he writes: “I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. For certain men have crept in unnoticed … ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness.”

Think about this: Within one generation after Jesus’ resurrection, it was already necessary to contend for the true grace message. That’s how key this battle over the true grace message is and always has been since Jesus’ definitive work on the cross.

Jude warned of certain men who crept into the fellowship of the church unnoticed—that is, their error went unnoticed by most of the leaders and the people. These men turned the message of grace into a message of lewdness or one that affirmed various compromises, even sexual immorality. These men with persuasive teaching abilities twisted what the Bible said about grace, thus empowering many to confidently continue in sinful activities without feeling any urgency to repent.

Undoubtedly, these teachers of error appeared outwardly to live godly, but in their private lives they refused to repent of various lusts. Instead, they justified their ungodly habits by distorting the message of grace to accommodate their lifestyles.

The result was devastating, as many in the church concluded that it was acceptable for them also to live with similar compromises because these popular teachers were justifying this sort of lifestyle with various Bible verses. In reality, they took these verses out of context of the broader New Testament message, which called believers to live in wholehearted love for Jesus as evidenced by seeking to live in obedience to Him (John 14:15, 21).

The same is true with hyper-grace teachers today. They choose to emphasize only God’s love and forgiveness while practically ignoring Jesus’ call for His people to walk in wholehearted commitment to the Lord. They preach mostly on forgiveness without repentance and on receiving God’s blessing on their circumstances without any conditions. The truth is, it’s glorious that we are freely forgiven by Jesus and that He blesses our circumstances; but these truths are in context to seeking to live in a real relationship with Him and in agreement with His leadership and Word.

Jude’s exhortation is a significant warning for the body of Christ today. When the grace message is distorted, everything else in one’s spiritual life becomes blurred. In fact, there is no spiritual battle more significant in the church today than contending to keep the grace message faithful to Scripture.

Sadly, some believers aren’t even aware of this spiritual crisis regarding a diluted grace message. They must wake up to the emergency at hand—because today, as we contend for the spirit of truth, we are fighting for the very soul of a generation.

It’s easier in today’s world for teachers to creep in unnoticed, as Jude said, because of television and the Internet. Some contemporary teachers distorting the message of grace come from high-profile ministries whose very popularity gives them a false sense of credibility. We must not receive a ministry because it’s attractive and popular; we should only receive it if it’s faithful to the truth.

Paul prophesied of a time when many who profess loyalty to Jesus would fall to unsound doctrine: “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables” (2 Tim. 4:3-4).

These people aren’t willing to embrace the challenges of a lifestyle of obedience to Jesus as emphasized by the sound teaching in the New Testament. Instead, they have “itching ears” to hear messages that affirm their sinful desires. They want to feel comfortable in their relationship with God, even as they continue to boldly walk out their sinful lusts.

By isolating Bible verses about God’s blessing and forgiveness from the larger context of the New Testament’s call to love Jesus with obedience, they affirm the lustful desires of their hearers. One famous TV preacher went so far to say that there is no longer a need for a believer to repent because Jesus’ work on the cross did that for them. He obviously overlooked the fact that Jesus repeatedly called born-again believers to repent for yielding to various compromises (see Rev. 2:5, 16, 21-22; 3:3, 19).

Grace: The Power to Love and Obey Jesus

If countless sincere believers have already succumbed to the rising tide of this distorted grace message, how can we stand strong through the crisis? It starts by remaining grounded in biblical truth. We must approach the biblical grace message through the lens of God calling us to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength (Mark 12:30).

The Lord wants us to love Him in a wholehearted way because that’s how He loves us—with all of His heart, mind and strength. This mutual relationship of wholehearted love between a believer and the Lord is foundational to the kingdom. In fact, this is the very way that the Father loves the Son—with all of His heart. The Son loves the Father and the Spirit loves the Father and Son in this way too. Oh, the glorious mystery of one God in three persons who delight in Their relationship of wholehearted love for each other (see John 3:35; 5:20; 14:31; 15:9; 17:23, 26)! God’s plan from the foundation of the earth was to redeem people so that they could participate in this loving fellowship that the three persons of the Trinity enjoy.

The core reality of the grace message is to empower us to walk with God in a relationship of wholehearted love. Jesus called this “the first commandment” (Mark 12:30). Thus, the Holy Spirit’s first agenda is to establish the first commandment in first place in the church. This must also be our first agenda. Wholehearted love is to be “first” in our response to God because it is how the Father relates to the Son and how the Godhead relates to us. We must see grace through the lens of this quality of love. To think of grace without it being anchored in the first commandment is to be aiming at the wrong target. Thus, we distort the grace message when we do not interpret it through the lens of the first commandment. We must love Jesus on His terms, and He defined loving God in terms of a spirit of obedience to His commandments (see John 14:15, 21, 23).

There’s no such thing as loving Jesus without seeking to obey His Word. Some seek to love God on the terms of a humanistic culture that has no reference to obeying the Word. But loving and seeking to obey Jesus are synonymous. All of His commands are based in His love. Thus, the biblical message of grace teaches us to live righteously and to deny ungodliness as the way of expressing our love to God. Titus 2:11-12 says, “The grace of God … has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly.”

If you hear a teaching on grace that doesn’t call you to deny ungodliness, it’s not a biblical grace message—it’s a distorted one.

Legal Position vs. Living Condition

As we correctly view the grace message through the lens of the first commandment, we can also begin to understand the difference between our legal position before God and our ongoing living condition as a response to what Jesus has done. Not only is there a key difference between these two, it’s often the element that hyper-grace adherents conveniently overlook.

Our legal position is what Jesus accomplished for us on the cross, while our living condition is what Jesus requires of us in our response to Him. In our legal position, we stand before God by possessing His righteousness (2 Cor. 5:21). Our legal standing before God is so glorious that it will never be improved upon—not even with the perfection of a resurrected body—because we received Christ’s very own righteousness. Our legal position relates to receiving His righteousness instantly on the day that we are born again.

Our living condition, on the other hand, relates to growing in righteousness progressively as our mind is renewed, causing our behavior and emotions to be transformed by the Holy Spirit in us.

The gospel is the good news about receiving God’s righteousness and can be seen in three tenses:

Justification: our legal position—past tense, focused on our spirit

Sanctification: our living condition—present tense, focused on our soul

Glorification: our eternal exaltation—future tense, focused on our body

One-third of our salvation is complete (the salvation of our spirit), but the other two parts are not yet complete in our experience (the salvation of our soul and body). All believers have received the fullness of grace in their spirit (legal position), and yet they can still live far below it in their daily experience (living condition).

Much misunderstanding about grace can be traced to misunderstanding the distinctions of these truths. Many confuse what Jesus did for us in our legal position with what He requires of us in our response to Him in our living condition.

Jesus’ finished work on the cross makes His grace fully available to us as a gift. However, our regular interaction with the Spirit causes us to experience the transforming power of this grace in our daily life. James wrote about this when he urged believers to walk in a greater measure of grace because God “gives grace to the humble” (James 4:6).

James wrote this to born-again believers, calling them to receive more grace. A believer already has the gift of righteousness and therefore can’t receive “more grace” in his or her legal position. However, each of us can receive “more grace” in our living condition—and this is what James was referring to. We can always experience more of God’s grace to transform and renew our mind and emotions (see Rom. 12:2).

Grace in the Eight Beatitudes

If we hope to experience more of this transforming grace on a daily basis, then we must follow the words of the greatest teacher on grace who ever walked the earth: Jesus. The Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 5-7) is His most comprehensive statement about a believer’s role in cooperating with God’s grace. In this teaching, Jesus defined loving God in context to the eight beatitudes (5:3-10), offering us a rich understanding of how to walk out biblical grace in our daily lives.

One aspect of this is Jesus’ exhortation to us to hunger for more of God’s righteousness (v. 6). Here, Jesus affirmed the need to press into God for a greater release of righteousness in our daily lives—our living condition. Keep in mind that He wasn’t calling us to receive more of the gift of righteousness, since we already fully possess this in our legal position. Our hunger for righteousness doesn’t cause us to deserve grace—nothing can do that—but hunger positions us to receive more of the outworking of righteousness in our character.

Some believers don’t hunger to grow in righteousness in their daily life. Rather, they seek to know how far they can go in sin and how little they need to talk with Jesus to keep their salvation intact.

Imagine a couple in their wedding ceremony who have just completed their vows. While walking down the aisle for the first time as “one,” the man whispers to his new bride, “How far can I go with other women before we get divorced? And how much do I have to talk to you each week?” Adding insult to injury, he then says, “By the way, we just signed a marriage license that legalized our marriage—so now I have legal rights to all that you possess.”

Of course, the new bride would be heartbroken to hear that her husband didn’t love her with all of his heart but was instead establishing their marriage on a faulty foundation—and focusing almost entirely on the bare-minimum “requirements” and legal ramifications involved.

Some teach about grace in a way that parallels the lack of wholeheartedness portrayed in this analogy. It’s a version of grace more concerned with what it takes to “meet the requirements” on paper than to engage in the authentic, loving relationship for which it was originally intended. Sadly, this error is bound to occur whenever people separate the grace message from the first commandment.

How to Receive God’s Grace

Grace was never intended to be abused, but as our current church crisis proves, it can be. God gives us the freedom to choose relationship and obedience to His Word—and thus benefit from the true liberty found in grace. Yet this is also why Paul urged the believers in Corinth “not to receive the grace of God in vain” (2 Cor. 6:1).

The gospel of grace is distorted in two main ways: first, by presenting God’s love as something we can earn; second, by refusing to call people to respond in wholeheartedness to God. The fruit of the biblical grace message is confidence in the gift of God’s love combined with a spirit of obedience. If either of these two elements is missing, then it isn’t the true message. Thus, receiving God’s grace in vain is to receive it in such a way that it doesn’t produce confidence in God’s love nor the resolve to respond wholeheartedly to Jesus’ leadership. Either distortion is disastrous for our spiritual life.

Like Jude in the first century, we must earnestly contend for the truth about grace. The very soul of the youth in our nation hangs in the balance.

The good news, however, is this: The Holy Spirit is highlighting this spiritual crisis and is committed to the recovery of the biblical grace message. We can be confident that He will release His power to establish the first commandment in first place in the church before Jesus returns for His fully prepared Bride (see Rev. 19:7). Let’s come alongside Him, rather than opposing Him, when it comes to receiving, understanding and walking in grace.

MIKE BICKLES IHOP IS A CULT

Darren,

What really breaks my heart is the young people (18-30) who start out on fire for God and get really caught up in all this stuff. In 1999 I was asked by some friends of mine to go with them to Kansas City and help with the setup of the “internship program” and be on Staff. At that time I was “older” then most of the kids, had been in ministry and was considered an example of a Godly intercessor.

I lasted about 4 months, but I was stranded in Kansas City for 2 and a half years. I lasted 4 months because I asked too many questions. These kids were (still are as far as I know) being told that they were “prayer missionaries”. They were expected to work for the ministry 40 hours a week, pray in IHOP 40 hours a week AND attend Grace Bible college and do all the homework required. They were also told they had to raise their own support and they told they could not work outside the ministry.

I was also present in an orientation meeting when the “newbies” were told that it would be better for them to have no contact with old friends or family as they were being trained in a “new way of thinking” outsiders (exact word) would not understand.

When I questioned these and many other practices, first I the people around me stopped talking to me. A week later I was called into a meeting and told “we are not sure you fit in with us here”. I was then told not to come to the prayer house or talk to the interns. 2 things I continued to do until the day I left Kansas City!!

I was sharing a flat in a complex where almost everyone renting there was part of IHOP. Mz flat mates were the directors of the internship program. The flat was directly across the street from where the prayer house was then.

The people I was sharing a flat with were told to take my keys and throw me out. Fortunately, the lease was in my name and when they tried to do that I contacted the Landlord and called the police. I think they were a little shocked that I did not just bow down. After 2 weeks of wrangling where I was forceably locked in my room, physically threatened, coerced and all 4 of my car tires slashed and my car vandalized the complex manager gave me an flat rent free for 3 months. I found a job and was able to start paying rent the second month.

After I started working I started getting threatening phone calls at home and at work. I had made the mistake of calling my former flat mates about something from work, so they gave my work number all around. The calls were traced back to IHOPs offices at Metro Church and charges of stalking and harrassing phone calls were brought. That stopped the phone calls, but it did not stop some of the leaders from sitting or standing outside my building door and shouting and screaming at me if they saw me. One “worship leader” from IHOP even threw water on me from his balcony 2 floors above in same building.

Now I suppose you wonder why I stayed. Well, first of all I did not have the money to leave. I spent all my money getting there, getting set up, buying a car, etc. The other reason was the kids. Almost every week another poor kid would show up who had spent all their money to get there, on fire for God, wanting to “DO SOMETHING FOR GOD” and the first time they spoke out or asked a question or spoke their mind they were told they did not fit and were thrown out. Since they had cut all ties with home after they got their they did not know what to do. Usually I found them tired, exhausted and fed up sitting in a local coffee shop or McDonalds down the street. There was always the old trick of the “IHOP” leadership” telling flat mates they could just chuck their things out and demand their keys. I was usually the one who told them that was not true and I made lots of enemies at IHOP for telling these kids the truth. A couple of them had no idea what they could do and were sleeping on the streets. There are hard cold realities for those who do not fit in at IHOP. I spent hours counseling these “kids” (usually 18-25) and helping them reconnect with their families and get home.

Since leaving IHOP and ministering in other parts of the world with my husband, I have come across other poor souls who have fallen into the IHOP trap and had to be rescued by friends and family.

I still consider myself a prayer warrior and I have seen God do some amazing things. I do not want to cheapen the real thing by focusing on the false teachings and ideas that are out there, but I think the truth needs to be told.

NOw ask me about the Kansas City (Smithton)revival… ;=)

Blessings,

Ann

Smith/Kansas City Revival

Oh dear so much has been said about the Smith/Kansas City revival. There were whole websites dedicated to its abuse and heresies. So I think I will do it like this.

THINGS I LEARNED FROM THE SMITHTON REVIVAL

1. If you see a good show somewhere else, there is no reason you can not recreate it in your church. Steve Gray said “I went to Brownsville and I can DO that too”.

2. No one is indespensible. It does not matter if its your mother, father, brother, sister, sister-in-law or even your children. If they get in the way of the show, they gotta go.

3. A handpicked audience is always better. Steve and Kathy made sure only the most gullible, agreeable, easily manipulated were in the front for the world to see.

4. If your 2 year old can not stand in the same spot with their hands in the air for 3 to 4 hours of worshiping God then beat them until they learn to submit. This was actually in the “Revival Handbook” until it was turned over to Childrens Protective Services. I saw this first hand in the ladies bathroom where the little demons were brought to be beaten before going back to “worship”. I personally reported 2 parents to child services.

5. Never let people know where the money really goes. this was always true of the Grays. The truth is the money always went to them, not the ministry because THEY WERE THE MINISTRY. that is why they could leave Smithton, sell the building, run away and never look back (see Smithton Revival: Revival’s Relocation Pits Pastor Against Alienated Followers http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2001/october1/14.18.html)

6. If they wont give you money, dont give them anything either. We were in a tent for 2 years. In the winter in the freezing cold and in the summer in the blazing heat. Steve figured that it would help people give more to build a building quicker. When they did build a building it was much different then what was promised and much less was spent then what was actually raised for the building.

7. Make promises you know you will not keep. This was always happening. If people had a problem, a promise was made to fix it on the spot, but it never happened. You know of course that you can not really questions “Gods Elect” so they could never be called liars.

Oh my there is so much I learned at World Revival Church. This should do for a start 🙂

Ann

IT’S MY OPINION

THE PROBLEM IS BOTH HYPER-GRACE PREACHERS AND THIRD WAVE PREACHERS HAVE NO INTEGRITY AND ARE OFF THE WALL. THEY ARE NOT FULL OF FAITH, POWER AND THE HOLY SPIRIT BUT ARE FULL OF THEMSELVES!

While it true some believers don’t hunger to grow in righteousness in their daily life. Rather, they seek to know how far they can go in sin and how little they need to talk with Jesus to keep their salvation intact. It is also true that these so called believers are not really Christians but deceived ones otherwise the would live and walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh and operate in all the gifts of the Spirit.

Unfortunately it’s a sad fact that most Christian leaders don’t operate in all the gifts of the Spirit and are not full of faith, power and the Holy Spirit like Stephen the layman was:

Acts 6:
5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude. And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch,

8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people

REBUKE

AGWHEN WAS THE LAST TIME SO CALLED MEN OF GOD JOEL OSTEEN OR JOSEPH REBUKED ANYBODY SPECIFICALLY?

Mark 16:14 Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen.

1 Timothy 5: 20 Those who are sinning rebuke in the presence of all, that the rest also may fear.

2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.

Titus 1:13 This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith,

Titus 2:15 Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you.

GOD PLUS ONE IS A MAJORITY

Isaiah 51:1 “Listen to Me, you who follow after righteousness, You who seek the LORD: Look to the rock from which you were hewn, And to the hole of the pit from which you were dug.
2 Look to Abraham your father, And to Sarah who bore you; For I called him alone, And blessed him and increased him.”
3 For the LORD will comfort Zion, He will comfort all her waste places; He will make her wilderness like Eden, And her desert like the garden of the LORD; Joy and gladness will be found in it, Thanksgiving and the voice of melody.
4 ” Listen to Me, My people; And give ear to Me, O My nation: For law will proceed from Me, And I will make My justice rest As a light of the peoples.
5 My righteousness is near, My salvation has gone forth, And My arms will judge the peoples; The coastlands will wait upon Me, And on My arm they will trust.
6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, And look on the earth beneath. For the heavens will vanish away like smoke, The earth will grow old like a garment, And those who dwell in it will die in like manner; But My salvation will be forever, And My righteousness will not be abolished.
7 ” Listen to Me, you who know righteousness, You people in whose heart is My law: Do not fear the reproach of men, Nor be afraid of their insults.
8 For the moth will eat them up like a garment, And the worm will eat them like wool; But My righteousness will be forever, And My salvation from generation to generation.”
9 Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD! Awake as in the ancient days, In the generations of old. Are You not the arm that cut Rahab apart, And wounded the serpent?
10 Are You not the One who dried up the sea, The waters of the great deep; That made the depths of the sea a road For the redeemed to cross over?
11 So the ransomed of the LORD shall return, And come to Zion with singing, With everlasting joy on their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness; Sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
12 ” I, even I, am He who comforts you. Who are you that you should be afraid Of a man who will die, And of the son of a man who will be made like grass?
13 And you forget the LORD your Maker, Who stretched out the heavens And laid the foundations of the earth; You have feared continually every day Because of the fury of the oppressor, When he has prepared to destroy. And where is the fury of the oppressor?
14 The captive exile hastens, that he may be loosed, That he should not die in the pit, And that his bread should not fail.
15 But I am the LORD your God, Who divided the sea whose waves roared — The LORD of hosts is His name.
16 And I have put My words in your mouth; I have covered you with the shadow of My hand, That I may plant the heavens, Lay the foundations of the earth, And say to Zion, ‘You are My people.’

DO NOT TRUST IN LYING WORDS

Jeremiah 7: 1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
2 “Stand in the gate of the LORD’s house, and proclaim there this word, and say, ‘Hear the word of the LORD, all you of Judah who enter in at these gates to worship the LORD!’ ”
3 Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: “Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place.
4 Do not trust in these lying words, saying, ‘The temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD are these.’
5 “For if you thoroughly amend your ways and your doings, if you thoroughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbor,
6 if you do not oppress the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place, or walk after other gods to your hurt,
7 then I will cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers forever and ever.
8 “Behold, you trust in lying words that cannot profit.
9 Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods whom you do not know,
10 and then come and stand before Me in this house which is called by My name, and say, ‘We are delivered to do all these abominations’?
11 Has this house, which is called by My name, become a den of thieves in your eyes? Behold, I, even I, have seen it,” says the LORD.
12 “But go now to My place which was in Shiloh, where I set My name at the first, and see what I did to it because of the wickedness of My people Israel.
13 And now, because you have done all these works,” says the LORD, “and I spoke to you, rising up early and speaking, but you did not hear, and I called you, but you did not answer,
14 therefore I will do to the house which is called by My name, in which you trust, and to this place which I gave to you and your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh.
15 And I will cast you out of My sight, as I have cast out all your brethren — the whole posterity of Ephraim.
16 “Therefore do not pray for this people, nor lift up a cry or prayer for them, nor make intercession to Me; for I will not hear you.

BEWARE: Joseph Prince Is A DANGEROUS False Teacher – Dan Corner

Joseph Prince (born in 1963) is the Pentecostal senior pastor of one of Asia’s biggest churches (New Creation Church) and the author of the best-selling book entitled, Destined To Reign. Concisely stated, he presents his book as a type of secret cure all, but after comparing it to the Bible it is nothing more than a dangerous spiritual snare to the unwary and unlearned! Joseph Prince lures people in with his remarkable claim stated on the front cover — The secret to effortless success, wholeness and victorious living. Instead of Destined To Reign being the secret to something new, it really only offers the same old scriptural distortions used by past eternal security teachers, who have been around for a long time! Prince even admits to such towards the back of his book!
It was so good to hear from a seasoned man of God who had preached this same gospel even before I was born. (Destined To Reign, Harrison House, 2007 edition, p. 254)

Sadly, Prince takes his devoted Pentecostal fans through his warped presentation of what he calls grace and the gospel and leaves them totally off guard, misled and an easy target for the devil! Joseph Prince is much worse than the typical prosperity teacher. He has gone far beyond the gospel of greed as he mixes in various once saved always saved concepts as the panacea for victorious living, including stopping sin and getting physical healing! His effortless success gospel has apparently been swallowed hook, line and sinker by far too many gullible people. If not, he wouldn’t have such influence and popularity as he does. It is the purpose of this critique to prove the inaccuracy of what Joseph Prince teaches about various key issues central to Christianity. All quotes come from the 2007 edition of Destined To Reign by Joseph Prince and published by Harrison House. (All emphasis is my own, unless otherwise stated).

Joseph Prince Is Wrong About How to Get Born Again
Joseph Prince teaches to become a Christian, every person must make a personal decision to receive Jesus as Savior (p. 137). What that means to him is revealed at the end of his book, which would be found on page 315 if numbered. It is there that he has his Salvation Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for loving me and dying for me on the cross. Your precious blood washes me clean of every sin. You are my Lord and my Savior, now and forever. I believe that You rose from the dead and that You are alive today. Because of Your finished work, I am now a beloved child of God and heaven is my home. Thank You for giving me eternal life, and filling my heart with Your peace and joy. Amen.
Prince teaches a so-called gospel devoid of Biblical repentance and based on mental assent, as he implies his heretical once saved always saved belief. Just pray a little prayer and you’re forever saved while in your sins. He brushes off the vital necessity of turning away from wickedness by misapplying the meaning of repentance and therefore doesn’t teach saving faith and its accompanying crucifying the flesh (Gal. 5:24). Joseph Prince stated:
Repentance just means changing your mind. When John the Baptist said, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” he was essentially saying, “Change your mind, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” (p. 233).
The truth is, if one doesn’t turn away from his sins, he will never find true salvation to begin with. That is the fate of all who believe Joseph Prince (and many others antinomians like him). Jesus said the Ninevites repented at the preaching of Jonah (Mt. 12:41) and Jonah 3:10 states they turned from their evil ways. So repentance means turn from evil ways, according to the Lord Jesus. That is Jesus’ definition and he cited the actions of the Ninevites as repentance. He further said one must do that or perish (Lk. 13:3,5). So the first mistake Joseph Prince makes is of the greatest magnitude and involves how to be born again and start the Christian life, but there is much more!

Permanent Righteousness Without Doing What Is Right
Joseph Prince teaches the typical eternal security imputed righteous message as his secret, which is glaringly lethal:
My friend, righteousness is a gift because of what Jesus has accomplished on the cross for you. All your sins – past, present and future – have been washed clean by His precious blood. You are completely forgiven and from the moment you received Jesus into your life, you will never be held liable for your sins ever again. You have been made as righteous as Jesus…. (pp. 28, 29)
He sees you clothed with Jesus’ righteousness. So begin to see yourself clothed in Jesus’ righteousness. (p. 29)
The more you realize that you are righteous, the more victory you will experience over sin! Wake up every morning and give thanks that you are the righteousness of God through Jesus Christ. (p. 31)
Is Jesus righteous before God? Yes! Then so are you. Is He accepted before God? Yes! Then so are you. Is He well-pleasing before God? Yes! Then so are you. (p. 58)
God cannot see your sins when they are covered by the blood. (p. 209)
Don’t uncover your sins or the sins of others. They have been completely forgiven by the blood of Jesus (p. 211).
When God looks at you, all He sees is the blood of Jesus that makes you completely righteous. (p. 251)
There is no argument that Jesus is our righteousness (Rom. 1:17; 1 Cor. 1:30; Phil. 3:9; etc.), but that righteous standing before God can change and has for some:
If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them. Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,” and, “A sow that is washed goes back to her wallowing in the mud.” (2 Pet 2:20-22)
Without question Peter is referring to people who had experienced the radical new creation change at salvation and were set free from their sin addictions (Rom. 6:22) at a past point. They knew the way of righteousness (Jesus Christ), but afterwards again got entangled with sin and overcome! They became backsliders, who were previously washed, but returned to the filth and defilement of wickedness. Peter states they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness. In other words, they were not a backslidden Christian still bound for heaven, as Joseph Prince might say. They were on the road to hell again, but worse off than before they were born again, forgiven and made righteous! In other words, Peter believed (and wanted all Christians to know) one’s righteous standing before God can change over sin! Joseph Prince opposes Peter’s grace teaching, and scores of other passages to teach the perpetual righteousness heresy to the spiritual harm of all who are deceived by him.

A Christian is righteous because of his present tense faith in The Lord Jesus (Rom. 3:22). The issues with Prince involve what type of faith in Jesus does it take, and can that faith cease to exist or become destroyed (among other things)? The answer is, it takes a present tense saving faith, which submits to and follows Jesus in obedience to remain righteous after getting born again. Moreover, true saving faith can cease to exist and become destroyed (Luke 8:13; 2 Tim. 2:18; 1 Tim. 1:19; Rom. 11:19-23). After salvation, sin can nullify a Christian’s righteous and holy standing before God and make him unholy, impure, unrighteous and spiritually dead! [See chapter 7 of the book, The Believer’s Conditional Security: Eternal Security Refuted.] All through the Bible we are warned that if a righteous man turns and does evil, he will die spiritually because of it (Ezek. 33:18; Rom. 8:13 cf. Gal. 6:8,9; etc.). In contrast to those clear scriptures, Joseph Prince teaches an ear-tickling, do-nothing success gospel, which seems to exalt the blood of Jesus, but really dangerously distorts it. Again, his teaching is nothing new and God surely didn’t reveal to him his secret to effortless success! [It is true that success to get to heaven is uniquely in the Lord Jesus, but only through a submissive faith in him and for those who endure to the end (Mt. 10:22; Heb. 3:14; Rev. 2:10,11).]

God’s ETERNAL Truth About The Righteous
In an effort to protect the sheep and combat dangerous false teachers in first-century Christianity, the Apostle John wanted all to know the vital details about who is and who isn’t righteous. His teaching seems custom made for Joseph Prince and his tens of thousands of gullible followers:
Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. He who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. He who does what is sinful is of the devil …. (1 John 3:7,8)
That passage is a devastating bombshell to the false grace and counterfeit gospel taught by smiley Joseph Prince (and others like him) and therefore should be memorized and taught often. NOTE: The Apostle John knew much better about the precious holy and cleansing blood of Jesus than Joseph Prince, yet never taught anything like, when God looks at you, all He sees is the blood of Jesus that makes you completely righteous. John stated it is only he who does what is right who is righteous! A person doing sinful things is of the devil. That is God’s truth and what all Christians should believe. It has nothing to do with whether the person sinning wants to do sinful things or not! He who does what is sinful is of the devil, but again Joseph Prince denies that, teaches against that message and simultaneously states all through Destined To Reign that he is hearing God’s direct voice! Sometimes he and God are dialoging with each other about the spiritual! Do NOT be deceived by such a claim!
The Apostle Paul collaborates with John and drives another nail in the theological coffin lid of Joseph Prince’s putrid grace message:

Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey – whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? (Rom 6:16)
No one can conclude from that verse that righteousness is permanent and unchanging, even without OBEDIENCE! So, how then can Joseph Prince successfully deceive so many by teaching the opposite? Paul taught of a righteousness, which comes from obedience! That isn’t law, but his grace teaching!

Our Future Sins Are NOT Automatically Forgiven
The grace understanding of the senior pastor of the 20,000+ member Singapore New Creation Church is worse than lacking, according to scripture! Prince actually stands behind the once saved always saved concept that our future sins are already forgiven before they are committed, which means the person in any of the sins cited in 1 Cor. 6:9,10; Eph. 5:5-7; Mark 7:20-23; Rev. 21:8; etc. will dismiss them as both already forgiven and hidden from God, which sets them up to be thrown into the lake of fire! [Prince also teaches all sin is of the same degree (p. 60) and thereby contradicts 1 John 5:16,17 and other scriptures.] Folks, it’s apparent the devil doesn’t believe our future sins are already forgiven because he continues to tempt us to sin! The devil knows, as the Bible so clearly says from cover to cover, that spiritual death will come on the righteous who do evil (Rom. 6:16; 8:13; Gal. 6:8; etc.). It is the devil (and Joseph Prince), NOT GOD, who wants Christians to think their future sins are already forgiven!
… there is no sin that a Christian is not forgiven of. (p. 91, bold emphasis his)
His blood that was shed forgives all your sins – past, present and even future sins. Many Christians have the erroneous belief that only their past sins have been forgiven. They believe that when they received Christ, only their past sins were forgiven. So they believe that they have to be very careful from that point onwards. (p. 44)
… Jesus has cleansed you of the sins of your entire life and you are now sealed with the promise of eternal life! (p. 95)
The more you believe that all your sins are forgiven by the blood of Jesus, the more you will become whole – body, soul and spirit! (p. 95)
scripture teaches the Christian’s future sins are NOT already forgiven before committing them and God can see the sins committed by those who have been born again! The scriptural evidence is clear and conclusive. Continuous forgiveness is not automatic. To be forgiven after becoming a child of God, among other things, one must forgive those who sin against him:
For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. (Mat 6:14,15)
That scripture alone decimates the doctrine that a Christian’s future sins are already automatically forgiven! Don’t be deceived about that or God being unable to see the sins of a person previously saved, because of the blood of Christ. Jesus taught if you disown him, he will disown you (Mt. 10:33) and Paul repeated the same truth (2 Tim. 2:12). Peter taught only our past sins are forgiven (2 Peter. 1:9) – the very point Joseph Prince openly opposes!
Furthermore, all through Revelation chapters 2 and 3 you’ll notice that their future sins were not forgiven and Jesus could see them! He stated they forsook their first love, were lukewarm, were tolerating Jezebel, holding to the teaching of Balaam, etc. NOTE: That is the real Lord Jesus himself, after the cross who knows all about his own blood and saving grace! Jesus told 5 of the 7 church groups to REPENT, but you will never hear that type of directive given by Joseph Prince nor the hell warnings that accompany it (Rev. 2:5; 3:16; etc.)! How could the same Lord Jesus who taught those spiritual treasures and Joseph Prince be dialoging together resulting in Prince’s putrid antichrist doctrines? Impossible!

When God looks at you today, He sees you covered with Jesus’ blood and completely righteous. Only the devil, you yourself and the people around you will bring your sins to your remembrance. (p. 98)
When you are under grace, even when you fail and fall short of God’s standards, God still sees you as righteous because of Jesus Christ. (p. 146)
Remember, Joseph Prince teaches effortless success! According to him, you don’t have to be careful to avoid all appearances of evil (1 Thess. 5:22), pray to be led from temptation (Mt. 6:13), etc. Sin is not the issue with his gospel and you don’t need to be careful, guarded or conscious of sin. How different his doctrine is from the Holy Spirit inspired, forever-settled written word of God about sin and the Christian life. God’s real truth is:
But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person – such a man is an idolater – has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. Therefore do not be partners with them. (Eph 5:3-7)
We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. (Heb 2:1)
Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers. (1 Tim 4:16)
See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first. (Heb 3:12-14)
Futhermore, the Lord Jesus taught we need to make a continuous effort to enter God’s kingdom:
Someone asked him, “Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?” He said to them, “Make every EFFORT to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.” (Luke 13:23,24)
Does that seem like effortless success to you? How about these passages?
For this very reason, make every EFFORT to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins. Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (2 Pet 1:5-11)
But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness. So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every EFFORT to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. (2 Pet 3:13,14)
Make every EFFORT to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. (Heb 12:14)
I have the same hope in God as these men, that there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked. So I strive always to keep my conscience clear before God and man. (Acts 24:15,16)
But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. (1 Cor 9:27)
In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. (Heb 12:4)

Joseph Prince Clearly Has a False Gospel Which Opposes 1 Cor. 15:2
Joseph Prince has a false gospel which glaringly contradicts and opposes the real gospel of grace, as detailed in 1 Cor. 15:2.
By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
Under grace, the Christian is responsible to hold firmly to the truth for his own salvation’s sake! To believe in vain is to be without eternal life at that point and apparently is a real valid danger or it wouldn’t have been stated! Many other similar warnings and Christian responsibilities are cited throughout the New testament.

Joseph Prince Contradicts Himself But No One Seems To Notice
Like other false teachers, Joseph Prince teaches opposite messages, yet it seems that no one notices or cares! (A contradiction is a definite sign of error.) His popularity isn’t affected and continues to grow! His followers have turned to his myths (2 Tim. 4:3,4). Ponder these Joseph Prince teachings:
… the more you are under grace, the more sin will be depleted of its strength. (p. 26)
… the more grace you receive, the more power you have to overcome sin. (p. 26)
When you are under God’s grace and His perfect forgiveness, you will experience victory over sin. (p. 45)
… I find that in the scriptures, victory over sin is found in the preaching of God’s grace. (p. 249)
Sin does not stop God’s grace from flowing, but God’s grace will stop sin. (p. 249, bold emphasis his)
According to Joseph Prince, the remedy to overcome sin is simply GRACE! Since Joseph Prince teaches effortless grace, how can he also inconsistently teach the following contradictions and successfully get away with them?
1. He implies in the following quote that all Christians are sinning all the time:

If you really believe that you need to confess all your sins to be forgiven, do you know what you would be doing? You would be confessing your sins ALL THE TIME! (p. 107, bold and capital emphasis his)
COMMENT: Certainly there must be some Christian somewhere who understands Biblical grace (his remedy) and would have complete victory over sin and therefore would not have to confess his sins all the time! Isn’t that true?
2. Joseph Prince thinks he is teaching like Paul, yet still smears the Apostle Paul as doing evil (the things he hates) and not overcoming sin!

… Paul himself wrote about: “For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do.” I am writing to believers who have this genuine struggle with the law and who like Paul are crying out, “O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?” (p. 167)
COMMENT: Just like other grace changers, Joseph Prince smears the Apostle Paul as practicing evil and being a wretched man overcome by sin, even as a Christian. It is the typical misuse of Rom. 7:14-25. Why wasn’t Paul able to overcome sin, as a Christian? He certainly understood grace and righteousness, and according to Prince that’s what it would take! That is a major contradiction since Paul was a true genuine grace teacher. Joseph Prince also compares Paul (the grace teacher) to believers who struggle with the law!
3. Joseph Prince impugns the entire church at Corinth as being sinful, implies they didn’t understand grace and were in need of more true grace teaching to overcome sin:

Yet, we know that the church in Corinth was in a mess. The people were involved in all kinds of outwards sins. They were in strife, envy and jealousy, and some of them were even going to temple prostitutes … All in all, there were all kinds of immoral activities going on in the church of Corinth. (pp. 257, 258)
COMMENT: Since the Corinthians were taught grace from Paul (the true grace teacher) and sound grace teaching is the key to overcoming sin (according to Prince), then it is inconsistent to say, there were all kinds of immoral activities going on in the church of Corinth. There would have to be NO immoral activities going on there, since Paul taught them the real pure facts about grace! Prince contradicts his own central doctrine, yet no one seems to notice or care! The true holy image of being a Christian has been blotched by smearing the Corinthians, as Joseph Prince does! The envy and strife at Corinth was about their favorite preachers (1 Cor. 1:12 cf. 3:3-6)! There is NO evidence that any in the Corinthian congregation were seeing temple prostitutes! NONE! If they had been, they would be identified as unrighteous and would NOT enter God’s kingdom (1 Cor. 6:9,10). By teaching as he does, Joseph Prince apparently believes there are Christian whoremongers, which is impossible (Rev. 21:8). The truth about their real behavior is revealed in a passage too few seem to know:
I have written you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people – not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat. (1 Cor 5:9-11)
How could the Corinthians not associate with professing Christians who were sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler, IF THEY WERE DOING THE SAME THINGS? Think! Obviously, the Corinthian Christians were NOT doing those kinds of sins and were taught about grace, yet the grace changers (like Joseph Prince) teach otherwise!
If someone has really known and experienced grace and the gift of no condemnation, he will NOT want to live in sin. Sin will be the last thing on his mind!… Grace always results in victory over sin! (p. 167)
The truth is, the Corinthian Christians had the following observable evidence of saving grace, as all Christians do:
We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. The man who says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. (1 John 2:3,4)
Again, the Biblical criterion for being a possessor of eternal life violently contradicts Joseph Prince and his effortless success gospel! Dear reader, which will you believe?
4. Repeatedly, Joseph Prince subtly downplays the seriousness of any sin committed after getting saved by say they were already forgiven and God can’t see them! However, if you disagree with his teachings your wrong believing is disobedience (SIN)!

The problem with the church today is wrong believing. I’m sorry to tell you this, but if you refuse to believe what God has said about the forgiveness of sins in the new covenant, then you are actually in disobedience. (p. 97)
COMMENT: Does Joseph Prince now believe such a SIN isn’t already forgiven and God can see it?

The No Longer Angry Mythical god Of Joseph Prince
What about God’s anger and wrath – does it come on people who were once saved? Of course the never saved do have the wrath of God abiding on them (Eph. 2:3), but the issue at this point with Prince is over people once saved:
… His anger is toward those who have rejected Jesus … we will never be punished because we have already received Jesus. As believers, God is no longer angry with us because all His anger for our sins fell upon Jesus at the cross. (p. 41)
Under the new covenant, God will never again chastise the believer for his sins! (p. 65)
What does this mean, my friend? This means that there is no more judgment for you when God looks at you. (p. 127)
The Singapore ear-tickler strikes again! Joseph Prince has a very high batting average as far as declaring venomous concepts and mere empty words! How can we be sure? Paul taught the Ephesian Christians that God’s wrath would come on them for being disobedient in the area of immorality, impurity and greed (Eph. 5:5-7). The same passage states they would lose their inheritance to God’s kingdom over those sins. In other words, Paul’s grace message warned true Christians they could lose their salvation! Paul definitely was NOT an eternal security teacher. Since Prince doesn’t agree with Paul, Joseph Prince is DANGEROUSLY wrong and a snare to SOULS!
Remember also that God struck Ananias and Sapphira dead for lying to the Holy Spirit (Acts 5:1-11). Not only does that prove God got angry with them, but he could also see their sin and that future sin was NOT already forgiven before it was committed! It wasn’t hidden by the blood of Christ! BTW, all liars go to the lake of fire, Rev. 21:8.

Because of Jesus’ finished work at the cross, He will never be angry with you nor rebuke you even when you fail. (p. 305)
Jesus himself told the Thyatira congregation:
Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols. I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling. So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways. I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds. (Rev 2:20-23)
NOTE: Sexual sin angers God and it will drag the unrepentant to eternal fire before or after initial salvation (Eph. 5:5-7; Rev. 21:8; etc.)! That is the consistent message of the real Lord Jesus Christ (Mark 9:43-48). Any teaching which states once a person gets saved, his future sins can never drag him to hell is of the devil, regardless who is speaking it out.
The Christian can never be lost…. (p. 254)
Paul and Timothy and Joseph Prince
According to Prince, if one believes in the real gospel of Jesus the result will be health and prosperity:
… when you believe the gospel of Jesus, which is based entirely on His grace, it will result in health and prosperity. (p. 23)
Whatever your need is today, whether it is physical, emotional, mental, social or financial, your solution is found in a greater revelation of Jesus. (p. 189)
Since Paul and his traveling companions were dressed in rags at times and Timothy had stomach and frequent illnesses, then logically Prince must think neither Paul nor Timothy believed the real gospel of Jesus and needed a greater revelation of Jesus!
To this very hour we go hungry and thirsty, we are in rags, we are brutally treated, we are homeless. (1 Cor 4:11)
Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses. (1 Tim 5:23)
Folks, Joseph Prince is teaching religious myths and they go on and on. Perhaps, his convoluted unwitting conclusions, which even indict Paul and Timothy, are possibly better understood from the following:
Some Christians are not able to receive healing because they are not able to receive forgiveness. They are still sin-conscious and doubt their forgiveness. They believe that God may have forgiven their past sins, but not the sins of their whole life. (pp. 186, 187)
In other words, once you know that you have been forgiven of all your sins, past, present and future, the healing of all your diseases follows. (p. 290)
Does it really matter if you condemn yourself and allow your sin debt to remain on your conscience even after Jesus has overpaid it? Yes, it matters because apart from dishonoring the work of Jesus on the cross, sin-consciousness makes you avoid God, and can produce in you condemnation, sicknesses, diseases, depression and a cycle of sin! (p. 185)
Sarcastically I say, had Paul and Timothy only understood things the way Joseph Prince teaches them in Destined To Reign things could have been better for them! They could have had health and prosperity and Paul would have been set free from his cycle of sin. Of course, Prince is wrong and Paul was set free from his sin addictions and was living holy and exemplary.

Once Saved Always Saved or Eternal Security
Without doubt, Joseph Prince believes in and teaches once saved always saved or eternal security, even though he didn’t clearly state such in Destines To Reign:
A believer has already received the gift of eternal life and will never be “subject to eternal condemnation”. (p. 92)
The Christian can never be lost…. (p. 254)
You are His beloved child regardless of what you have done. (p. 302)
He loves you and will never judge or condemn you! (p. 303)
Folks, that is the essence of the devil’s first lie to mankind (Gen. 3:4), that is, sin will not produce spiritual death for the righteous. From the parables of the Lord Jesus to the Pauline epistles to Jesus precious words to the seven churches in Asia (Rev. 2 and 3), it is explicitly clear that there is no eternal security. Here are just a few passages to ponder:
‘For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate. (Luke 15:24)
The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. (Gal 6:8,9)
My brethren, if any among you strays from the truth and one turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins. (James 5:19,20, NASB)
Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes will not be hurt at all by the second death. (Rev 2:10,11)
Tidbits Of Distortions
Here are several other shocking distortions of scripture from his book. For your own sake, please compare Joseph Prince to the following scriptures:
Prince thinks we confess our FORGIVEN sins because we are already forgiven:

Listen carefully: We don’t have to confess our sins in order to be forgiven. We confess our sins because we are already forgiven. (p. 104)
No one could get that out of 1 John 1:9, the verse he refers to. Here is the real truth of God:
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Prince also stated:
Similarly, when you think that you can still save yourself, God’s grace cannot flow. (p. 267)
But Peter taught people to save yourselves and God’s saving grace did flow to 3,000 people:
With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. (Acts 2:40,41)
Also, if Prince is right, why did Paul write Timothy the following directive?
Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers. (1 Tim 4:16)
To teach sin is not an issue for a believer and a believer’s future sins are already forgiven, Prince distorts one of his primary proof texts. First is his quote:
When the Bible declares in 1 John 1:7 that the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin, the tense here in the Greek for the word “cleanses” denotes a present and continuous action. (pp. 247, 248)
Somehow Joseph Prince forgot to state the condition needed to receive a present tense cleansing of sin and, thereby, violently distorted its meaning. Here is how it actually reads and must be understood:
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. (1 John 1:7)
What is Prince’s goal? In part, it is stated here:
Stop examining yourself and searching your heart for sin. (p. 187)
Is that a valid goal to be teaching under grace? If so, then Paul was teaching wrongly:
A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup. (1 Cor. 11:28)
Prince says if you study your Bible it will show that every time the children of Israel murmured and complained, it only brought forth fresh demonstrations of God’s favor, supply and goodness.
Study the Bible yourself. You’ll find that every time the children of Israel murmured and complained, it only brought forth fresh demonstrations of God’s favor, supply and goodness. (p. 222)
In contrast, the Biblical record says the following about their complaining:
Now the people complained about their hardships in the hearing of the LORD, and when he heard them his anger was aroused. Then fire from the LORD burned among them and consumed some of the outskirts of the camp. (Num 11:1)
Could it be Prince is NOT studying his Bible, but listening to strange dark voices he wrongly thinks is the Lord’s?

Joseph Prince Exalts God’s Love For Us But Not Our Love For Him
Prince stresses God’s love for us and implies it is the only and ultimate issue:
But I know the truth today. I know that even when I fail, God and I are still “tight” (we are still “cool”, you know what I mean?) because of the blood of Jesus. God still sees me as His beloved. I have the gift of righteousness apart from my performance. I know that God still loves me, that our fellowship is not broken and that His favor still flows in me. Beloved, there is nothing you can do today to make God love you more, and there is nothing you can do to make Him love you any less. (p. 300)
The truth is, our love for God is needed for our salvation (1 Cor. 16:22; 1 Cor. 2:9; James 2:5) and, therefore, is the real issue! God loves even unsaved people, who are on the road to hell (Mark 10:21). It is our love for God that is a salvation issue. To show our love for God we must OBEY him:
If you love me, you will OBEY what I command. (John 14:15)
Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will OBEY my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.” (John 14:23)
This is love for God: to OBEY his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, (1 John 5:3)
According to Prince, that would be law! The truth is: OBEDIENCE is not law keeping, legalism or a works salvation! Obedience to God’s commands is love for God and a manifestation of saving faith in Jesus. NOTE: God’s commands are not burdensome (1 John 5:3)! Jesus said his yoke is easy (Matt. 11:29), which we wear when we follow him and do his will. So, it’s our love for God that is the variable and critical factor which the devil tries to ruin by getting us to sin! The truth is scripture speaks of both the kindness and sternness of God, unlike the warped image Joseph Prince gives of God. Here is the real God of the Bible:
You will say then, “Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in.” Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but be afraid. For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either. Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off. And if they do not persist in unbelief, they will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. (Rom 11:19-23)
Rom. 11:19-23 is a devastating blow to eternal security and once saved always saved! We are advised under true grace to be afraid because we can get cut off too! DO NOT BE DECEIVED!

Joseph Prince WRONGLY Claims To Hear The Audible Voice Of The Lord
All through his book, Joseph Prince claims he is able to hear and sometimes even dialogue with God back and forth about spiritual things! Imagine that! That seems to be an unhealthy, but common, trait of the Word Faith crowd, from which he is coming. By stating such, Joseph Prince is subtly exalting himself to a prophet-like infallible position, where he must be correct, since he hears God’s voice directly. He starts very early in his book with his claim:
I distinctly heard the voice of the Lord on the inside. It wasn’t a witness of the Spirit. It was a voice, and I heard God say this clearly to me: “Son, you are not preaching grace.” (vii)
If you believe that Joseph Prince can hear God’s voice like he claims, he has you hooked and you will believe his lies! Logically, you would also have to believe what he teaches! But folks, how could Joseph Prince be hearing the voice of God since his teachings are so dangerously different from what the Bible teaches about grace, the gospel, sin, the Christian life, eternal salvation, etc.? He can’t be! It’s impossible! Do NOT be deceived! If God was speaking to Prince he would scathingly rebuke him for his heretical teachings which are stumbling others, but the voice he is hearing is much different! It can’t be God voice for it has resulted with the poisonous contents of his book, Destined To Reign!
…God spoke to me. He began to show me more clearly than I had ever seen before …. (p. 214).
I heard the Lord speaking to me on the inside. He said, “Stop disqualifying My people! My blood has already qualified them. Stop disqualifying them!” (p. 272)
… the Lord spoke to me and said …. (p. 278)
… the Lord asked me … The Lord said to me … The Lord continued … the Lord said to me (p. 280).
Again, and in conclusion, Joseph Prince might be hearing voices, but they are not the voice of the Lord since his doctrines are in such disharmony to what is stated in the Bible. Don’t be deceived by the smiley, fluent and popular Joseph Prince as he preaches, My friend, you are destined to reign in this life (p. 34). The truth is, if you aren’t living holy now you aren’t a Christian now and living godly will bring about persecutions (2 Tim. 3:12) and the related! Take warning!
But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them–bringing swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping. (2 Pet 2:1-3)

The Fresh Prince – Destined to Ruin

The Christian world has a fresh prince, not of Bel Air, but from Singapore! 1

Joseph Prince (JP) is the senior  pastor of New Creation Church in Singapore, one of Asia’s biggest churches.2 Under Prince’s leadership, the church congregation has grown by more than a hundredfold — from about 150 to more than 24,000.

A founding member of New Creation Church, Prince initially served as an elder and associate pastor. However, his appointment as senior pastor in 1990 marked a turning point in the history of the church, which started experiencing phenomenal growth. 3

Prince, the son of a Sikh priest of Indian origin and a Chinese mother, changed his birth name to Joseph Prince from Xenonamandar Jegahusiee Singh, during his previous occupation as an IT consultant.4

His name change is reminiscent of Joseph the Hebrew Prince of Egypt. He is married to Wendy, and has  two young children. As a young man he dabbled in the occult, but he said that ‘supernatural experiences’ opened his eyes to Christianity.5

Rising to cult status, Prince is the new ‘voice’ in the world of TV preachers, bringing a breath of fresh air, teaching his version of “effortless” grace, and his panoramic view of God’s love. But is this really the breath of Heaven, or is it a new wind of doctrine; a form of grace for children desiring only milk, happy with cotton candy Christianity? (cf. Eph 4:14; 1Cor 3:2; Heb 5:12 -14)

For a new “Christian” Prince’s teaching sounds wonderful. But anyone with even an ounce of biblical discernment would run from such teaching.

Joseph Prince’s Television programme, and his books are everywhere. Prince is the new Prosperity Poster Boy.

His website boasts:

A highly sought-after conference speaker, Pastor Prince has impacted church leaders internationally by preaching the unadulterated gospel of Jesus with boldness. He is known for teaching God’s Word in a fresh, practical and revelatory way that always unveils Jesus. His humorous, dynamic and engaging style of preaching has also endeared him to a wide spectrum of viewers who tune in to his daily television programme – Destined To Reign. This broadcast currently reaches millions of homes across North America, Europe, Africa, Australia and Israel on both secular and Christian networks.

Pastor Prince is actively fulfilling the mandate that God has given him to preach God’s unmerited favour without compromise. Prince’s ministry continues to transform many lives, setting people free from the heavy yoke of the law, guilt and condemnation by pointing them to Jesus and His finished work at Calvary. Pastor Prince believes the best  in people and is committed to helping them discover how they can “reign in life through the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness.” His desire is to help this generation of believers understand the new covenant…”6

His messages are all about grace “to lift the heavy yoke of the law.” He is strongly into the “Word Faith” movement, meaning his message is based on health and prosperity. Prince has changed the basic premise from faith, to “grace,” which has far more appeal. Because he believes the best in people he doesn’t talk much about sin! He has just enough right teaching, mixed with wrong theology to be dangerous.

JP has been invited to preach at a number of churches in Australia, London, USA, Canada, Norway, Netherlands, South Africa and Indonesia.7Notably, he has been invited to preach at many a Hillsong Conference, including this year’s (2012).8

Prince’s TV program Destined to Reign is broadcast in more than 150 countries.9 His broadcast programme is also streamed online through Internet and podcasts.10 Yet he has never had any formal theological training.

Prince publishes books, CDs and DVDs. In 2007, he published his book Destined to Reign: The Secret to Effortless Success, Wholeness and Victorious Living, which contained teachings from his ten years of preaching from 1997 to 2007. Six months after the book’s US release, it was listed as one of Christian Retailing’s Top 100 Books.11 In 2010, Prince’s latest book Unmerited Favor was published worldwide by Charisma House. 12

Joseph Prince was featured in the cover story of the June 2010 issue of Charisma magazine, which covered his preaching and teaching ministry.13 On October 29, 2011, JP ministered in the US for the first time at Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas.

Effortless Income:

There have been criticisms about the size of the salary paid by the church to its senior pastor.

On 5 October 2008, in an interview with the Sunday Times, JP, who is  the executive chairman of the church council, acknowledged that he was well-paid but added that money did not have a hold on him.14 He dismissed the rumour that his salary was $50,000 a month.15

However, on 30 March 2009, The Straits Times reported that an investigation revealed that the independent New Creation Church paid one employee between $500,001 and $550,000 in its last financial year of 2008. 16

Under the revised and updated recommendations contained in the Code of Governance for charities, all charities and non-profit organizations in Singapore are encouraged to disclose the salary bands of their top executives to the Commissioner of Charities. Even though the church did not confirm if the amount went to its pastor, Joseph Prince. It told The Straits Times that its policy is to ‘recognise and reward key contributors to the church and Senior Pastor Prince is the main pillar of our church’s growth  and revenue’. The New Creation Church’s income was reported to be SGD55.4million for the financial year ended March 2008. 17 On June 7, 2010, The Straits Times and Channel News Asia reported that Joseph Prince has not been on the church payroll since 2009.18

Prince of Prosperity

Many are becoming aware of this man’s teachings. But not “all that glitters is gold”, as the saying goes…

Here is a quote from Joseph Prince:

I give thank(s) to God for my roots in the Word of Faith teachings. It is truly on the shoulders of great men of God like Brother Kenneth E. Hagin that we are able to see further into the Word of God today. Growing up, I learned a lot about faith from Brother Hagin who truly had a special revelation of faith from the Lord. I deeply honour and respect him for all that he has taught me.” 19

Prince’s background has certainly influenced his teaching on grace. In his sermon Walking in the undeserved favour of God, he said:

Now I’ve been in the Word of Faith circle and I find that Word of Faith preachers know about favour. The thing that I wish many of them would say though would be this – to use that phase – undeserved favour… Now I didn’t learn amazing grace from Word of Faith though,… I had to learn that truly struggling on my own.20

The following are gleanings taken from his book – Destined to Reign. This list is the crux of Prince’s teachings.

Nothing but blessings for the believer (p.53)

No longer a need to be concerned about God’s Judgment

Repentance and confession of sin is never necessary

Wealth is for all Christians

God is continually restoring “New Truths” to the church—-New Revelations (p.32)

Prince’s personal revelation from God is: “More grace; less judgment”

Prince believes that God WILL NOT JUDGE America because of the cross. (p.49)

The Moral law has no bearing on Christians today; it was abolished with the Ceremonial law.

Prince says that he never encountered anyone that said “now I can go out and sin because of grace”(p.99)

Repentance means “Only to turn around” or a “change of mind”

He used to be conscious of sin, but he doesn’t focus on confessing his sin/s anymore 21

Prince’s preaching on grace always comes back to blessing and prosperity. It’s no wonder he has so many followers.

Royal Rhetoric

Prince continually assures the Believer that, although he does not condone sin, all was forgiven when Jesus died for the Believer. On pg 53 of his book – Destined to Reign, Prince writes:

If you receive a word from someone which brings your sins to remembrance or instills an expectation of punishment for sins in your life, don’t fear it, just throw it out the window…

On page 45, he writes:

God took all your sins, even the sins that you have not yet

committed, and put them all on Jesus. All future sins have been fully judged at the cross.’ On pages 138, 233 and 99 respectively he states:

Believers are forever righteous

– you cannot be under grace without becoming holy, and that he has never encountered anyone who after receiving grace says “now I can go out and sin.”

Really?? Don’t you know of those who truly served and loved the Lord at one time and have returned to a life of sin, or at least failed the Lord at one point?

JP teaches that since all sins are already forgiven, there is no need  to repent of them anyway. What we need instead is to be forgiveness

-conscious. 22 On page 103 of his book, he writes:

Even when they (Christians) say a wrong thing, do a wrong thing or have a wrong thought…….they see the blood of Jesus continually

It is still wrong to murder, steal, commit adultery, etc. We are still obligated to keep these laws. 30

You have heard that it was said by them of old time, you shall not commit adultery: But I say to you, That whoever looks at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. – Matthew 5:27-28

Jesus magnified the law. In fact, Jesus raised the laws of the Old Testament to a higher standard. If Joseph Prince is correct; then why did Jesus make the keeping of the Moral law even tougher and stricter cf. Matthew 5:22-44?

“It is all about Jesus and His finished work! “The law justified no one and condemned the best of us, but grace saves even the worst of us”(Destined To Reign p.124) “Commandments Kill”. 31

Although correct as standalone statements, his emphasis is at the expense of a proper understanding of The Law. Paul referred to The Law as “a schoolmaster” (Gal. 3:24). It’s not grace replacing the law, but rather God’s grace given to fulfil the law. Prince makes the ‘law’ and ‘condemnation’, not our ‘sin’, the enemy,!

While Prince makes some good points to accentuate grace; one needs to read many of his quotes in their complete context. Many times his points may be true; but his application and solution are not.

The main idea Prince is advancing  is that through grace believers only receive blessings, they do not need to be concerned about sin, or God’s chastening. Grace has done away with the law with its judgment and punishment.

Antinomianism is the teaching that under The Gospel, the moral law is of no use, nor are Christians obligated to keep it. Antinomianism or legal irresponsibility is an extreme version of justification by faith alone. It does not necessarily imply the embrace of ethical permissiveness; rather it usually implies emphasis on the inner working of the Holy Spirit as the primary source of ethical guidance. 34

Prince seeks to defend himself:

I have been accused of being an antinomian (someone who is against the law of Moses). The truth is I have the highest regard for the law… I am for the law, for the purpose for which God gave the law… God did not give the law for us to keep. He gave the law to bring man to the end of himself, so that he would see his need for a Saviour (emphasis added). 35

Although the law was to bring an end to ourselves;

What then? Shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Don’t you know that to whom you yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants you are to whom you obey; whether of sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness? – Romans 6:15,16

He condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the Law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. – Romans 8:4

According to Joseph Prince, a Christian can accept Christ and somehow live a life of sin and in the flesh (at least ignorantly) because he/ she is already forgiven and there is no need to live “holy and blameless” as the Apostle Paul admonishes us to do in 1 Thessalonians 4:7:

For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness. Therefore whoever disregards this, disregards not man but God, who has given us His Holy Spirit.

Where is the need for repentance? With Prince’s teaching it seems there is none?

Of course Prince denies this. Teachers like Prince are into political “double- speak”.

There are many examples that show Joseph Prince has warped the truth to build his “unique” grace teaching

… the power to overcome sin is found in knowing that you are righteous. When a believer is struggling with sin, it is a case of mistaken identity. He thinks that he is still a dirty rotten sinner…Believers are struggling with sin today precisely because they do not realize that they are righteous. The Bible says, “Awake to righteousness, and do not sin.” This means that the more a believer realizes that he is indeed righteous, the more he will start to behave like a righteous person. It is time to awake to righteousness!” 36

The Greek word for righteousness (dikai s) means right living. Prince makes the term some kind of word faith confession.

Righteousness  Consciousness

I have to ask the question, did Paul, the apostle, somehow get it wrong, that we can now thank Joseph Prince for opening up to us this NEW truth about grace? If we accept Prince’s grace theology as true, then Paul wouldn’t have written most of

the New Testament. He wouldn’t have expanded his writings to the churches beyond making clear to them their ‘position’ in Christ.

Yet Prince tells us to “Feed on the letters of Apostle Paul” in order to discover the Gospel of Grace. Prince says,

God does not leave you wondering whether you are saved or not. He tells you outright that you are His and that nothing can ever separate you from the love  of Christ. Not even sin because His blood is greater than your sin! 37

Although he’s partly correct, Prince seems to forget that sin does affect our communion with God; the blood of Jesus Christ is applied when one confesses, and turns from sin, just as in salvation. Love demands that we tell the truth to people when they have done wrong. God is no different. He wants truth, not just grace.

26Joseph Prince states:

Colossians 2 tells us we are already made perfect in Christ. We don’t work towards perfection. Christ has made us perfect from the Cross. The minute you believe you are made perfect in Christ. You work from your perfection not to it. 38

In Philippians 3: 9-16, Paul teaches that he possesses “the righteousness which is of God by faith…”, yet he has “not already attained, nor [is he] already perfect” (v12). He is seeking to know more of Christ. Yet in verse 15 he concludes, “Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded…”  (cf. James 1:3-4;1 Peter 5:10).

Matthew Henry makes this point: Those who think they have grace enough give proof that they have little enough, or rather that they have none at all; because, wherever there is true grace, there is a desire of more grace, and a pressing towards the perfection of grace. 39

Prince it seems is unable to reconcile such apparent contradictions.

The more they believe that they are righteous, the more they experience true victory over sin… You see yourself righteous and this gives you the power to rise above the temptation. 40

Knowing that you are completely forgiven destroys the power of sin in your life now 41

Knowing you are forgiven before you do something wrong can give you a freedom to do whatever you want, and here is where the accusations of antinomianism surface.

Rom 8:1 actually says there is no condemnation to those in Christ

Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your  call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never fall; for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ – 2 Peter 1:10,11.

The scripture exhorts us to be diligent, giving heed, to add to our faith virtue. None of this comes automatically from grace. We have this instilled in us by the Holy Spirit, and we must co-operate with His work in conforming us to the Son. These are added as we grow in both knowledge and faith. The Churches of Sardis and Laodicea are clear warnings against casual Christianity. (Revelation 3:1-5,14 -21) Many are building their faith on shifting sand, on Prince’s message of ALL grace, and no responsibility.

Prince of Hyper-Grace

The missing element in Prince’s grace mantra is sanctification.

Our sanctification began when we were justified, but sanctification is a continuing  work.

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them – Ephesians 2:10.

For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that you abstain from fornication – 1 Thessalonians 4:3.

Yet Prince states You are either righteous or you are not. There is no such thing as first having ‘positional righteousness’ and then having to maintain that through ‘practical righteousness.’ You are the righteousness of God in Christ, period! 44

The sad fact is this extreme heresy is spread abroad across our land today proclaiming a Saviour from hell, but not from sin. It preaches a salvation of forgiveness but not redemption from sin. It teaches a form of justification by faith but not sanctification by faith. It preaches, “You must be born again” but doesn’t teach the marks of true regeneration. It teaches that a man becomes a new creature in Christ, while he remains just the same.

Do JP’s disciples truly believe God’s grace can be this lopsided? Prince’s grace is hyper-grace – all of God, and nothing of us. Prince’s positive thinking, positive confession paradigm is what he propagates. JP claims that sin, law, repentance, conviction, are negative, so they are excluded, and rejected from his message.

And you, that were once alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now has He reconciled. In the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy and blameless and irreproachable in His sight: If you continue in the faith grounded and settled, and do not be moved away from the hope of the gospel, … – Colossians 1:21-23.

Yet if Prince produced his own Bible you would read, “He has reconciled us; “In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and blameless and irreproachable in his sight”, and that’s where it would stop.

To quote Martyn Lloyd Jones:

I need something further [than being delivered from guilt and punishment]. I need a positive righteousness [by living in accordance with God’s moral law]. I cannot stand in the

presence of God by means of  the forgiveness of sins only; I need a positive righteousness [an actual righteousness; and … this is the dominant use of the word righteousness in the Bible], the righteousness that the Law postulates [demands, requires]. The second element in salvation, therefore, is that I am clothed

with the righteousness [the actual righteousness] of Jesus Christ. … In verse 3 [Rom. 8:3], the Apostle tells us how God delivers us from the guilt of sin [verse 3 definitely includes His setting us free from the authority and power of sin, from the kingdom of sin]; in verse 4 He gives us the positive righteousness, and how He will go on doing this increasingly through the work of the Spirit in sanctification until we are ultimately glorified, and free from sin altogether45

Martin Lloyd-Jones continues:

In other words, the righteousness of the Law is fulfilled in us in two ways. The righteousness of Christ is ‘imputed’ to us [positional, legal righteousness]; but, thank God, the righteousness of Christ is also ‘imparted’ to us. 46

Martin Luther wrote:

It is just as impossible to separate faith and works as it is to separate heat and light from fire! (cf. James 2:14 -23) 47

Prince takes the position that God actually made us righteous already, therefore sanctification is seemingly unnecessary.

But you have not so learned Christ; If indeed that you have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: That you put off concerning the former conduct the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that you put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness – Ephesians 4:20-24.

The scriptures declare:

For you are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. …. Put off the old man, and put on the Lord Jesus Christ (see Col 3:3, cf. verses 8-10).

Instead, Prince is giving us a ‘replacement’ theology of fancy catch phrases, and Word of Faith metaphysics. We need to understand there is a distinction between justification and sanctification. The following outline is taken from the writings of J.C. Ryle, on Holiness. 48

in what ways are they alike?

Both proceed originally from the free grace of God. It is of His gift alone that believers are justified or sanctified at all.

Both are part of that great work of salvation which Christ, in the eternal covenant, has undertaken on behalf of His people. Christ is the fountain of life, from which pardon and holiness both flow. The root of each is Christ. Both those who are justified are always sanctified, and those who are sanctified are always justified.

God has joined them together, and they cannot be put asunder. Both begin at the same time.

If you are a justified person, that person begins to be a sanctified person.

No one ever reached heaven without a renewed heart, as  well as forgiveness, without the Spirit’s grace as well as the blood of Christ, without being ready for eternal glory as well as a title. The one is just as necessary as the other.

Ryle continued

I am persuaded that one great cause of the darkness and uncomfortable feelings of many well-meaning people in the matter of religion is their habit of confounding, and not distinguishing justification and sanctification. It can never be too strongly impressed on our minds that they are two separate things.

What practical reflections ought the whole matter to raise in our minds? For one thing, let us all awake to a sense of the  perilous state of many professing Christians. ”Without holiness no man shall see the Lord”; without sanctification there is no salvation (Heb.12:14). Then, what an enormous amount of so-called religion there is, which is  perfectly useless!”

Prince of Preachers

In closing, let’s have the scriptures speak for themselves:

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify to himself a special people, zealous for good works Titus 2:11-14.

Notice what is the true grace of God that brings salvation? This is not the ‘grace’ Joseph Prince teaches. Joseph, the Prince of Egypt knew suffering and humiliation, nothing that this fresh Prince seems to identify with. He believes it’s all about reigning now. Yet the Bible promises that  “we will reign with Christ [then], IF we first suffer with Him [now] –cf. Gen 39:20, 40:23 with 2 Tim 2:12.

The pendulum has swung so far that it seems enough for us that our Christianity consists of having Christ’s righteousness accounted to us, without His righteousness being worked in us.

Prince’s odd position is what we may dub juvenilia49 justification, a youthful hybrid of Word of Faith teaching, and half a Gospel. He suggests a “simple prayer”:

Lord Jesus, thank you for loving me and dying for me on the cross… Your precious blood washes me clean from every sin. You are my Lord and my Saviour, now and forever. Because of your finished work, I am now a beloved child of God.50

His message at its core is a sophisticated form of Universalism, packaged as God’s Grace; but it’s cheap grace, and harbours a false peace! Prince, ignorant of God’s righteousness, is establishing his own. cf. Romans 10:3. Sanctification somehow  happens  through ‘righteous consciousness’?

Joseph Prince’s followers are asleep to real righteousness, right living, ‘destined to be ruined’ by his grievous gospel (cf. Acts 20:29,30). Although on an evangelical mission, Prince is following the broad path of the Emergent Church, with its dubious doctrine, and moral ambiguity. The only difference is his teaching is tailored to a more “biblically” familiar audience.

Prince holds to a gospel of Christ which makes God’s law of no effect: “believing” we are released from the necessity of being doers of the Word.

This is part of the ancient heresy  of the Nicolaitans, which Christ so unsparingly condemned in the book of Revelation (Revelation 2:6,15-16). 51 Prince is drawing away disciples through the success “franchise” of celebrity, prosperity and easy believism. No surprise really!

At the time of writing this article, Hurricane Isaac was bearing down on New Orleans on the eve of the seventh Anniversary (August 29, 2005) when Hurricane Katrina slammed onto the coast.52 Prince said, God would not judge America! Southern Decadence, the largest gay and lesbian street festival held each year in New Orleans (this year, Aug 29 – Sept 3, 2012) are planning to rave on regardless.

Although Hurricane Isaac cancelled remembrance ceremonies for those killed by Hurricane Katrina, one of the event co-ordinators, said that no hurricane was going to stop the festival. 53

When Homosexuality begins to dominate a culture, it’s clear evidence of divine judgment (Rom 1:27, 32).

Isaac in the Hebrew means ‘laughter’ or “He laughs”. I wonder who will have the last laugh (Psalm 2:4-5)?

The mission statement from Prince’s New Creation church is “to see Jesus in all the loveliness of His Person, and the perfection of His work, and to make Him known through the preaching of the gospel”.54

Prince is preaching a different Jesus, another gospel…and although he’s articulate, charismatic, convincing, and preaching ‘grace’; he is a blind leader of the blind, leading astray the unlearned and unstable. He is at best a false apostle, and at worst a conniving HERETIC! (2 Corinthians 11:12-15; 2 Peter 3:16).

BE HOLY

DGBE HOLY

1 Peter 1:15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,
16 because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”

Revelation 22:11 He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still.”

TO BE HOLY IS MORE THAN A STATE OF MIND OR AN ATTITUDE OF FAITH. TO BE HOLY IS TO NOT PRACTICE OR DEMONSTRATE THE WORKS OF THE FLESH

GALATIANS 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

HOLINESS DOESN’T COME JUST BY WISHFUL THINKING OR A MAGICAL PRAYER. YOU BY YOUR CHOICES AND ACTIONS PLAY AN INTEGRAL PART IN IT

2 Corinthians 7:1 Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Ephesians 4:24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

HOLINESS DOESN’T COME FROM JOSEPH PRINCE TEACHINGS OF GRACE

JOSEPH PRINCE HAS SOME EXCELLENT POINTS ABOUT TONGUES

ACTS 19 HAVE YOU RECEIVED THE HOLY SPIRIT….ASKING CHRISTIANS. INSULTING TO ASK SOME THESE DAYS. DON’T COMPROMISE. OUR STANDARD IS THE BIBLE. WE BELIEVE IN SPEAKING IN TONGUES AND SPEAKING IN TONGUES

IT IS ONE THING TO BE BAPTIZED WITH WATER. IT IS ANOTHER THING TO SWIM IN THE WATER

WE BELIEVE IN BAPTISM OF HOLY SPIRIT

ON THE DAY OF PENTECOST THE GIFT OF THE SPIRIT GAVE FIRST WAS TONGUES. THAT IS HOW IMPORTANT THAT IS TO GOD.

THE GIFT OF SPEAKING IN TONGUES.

YOU ARE PRAYING FOR THINGS YOU DON’T KNOW AND IT IS A GOOD THING. U MIGHT BE PRAYING FOR A FUTURE EVEN WHERE YOUR CHILD COULD BE IN DANGER AND GOD IS PRAYING AGAINST IT. IT IS BETTER FOR US NOT KNOW THOSE THINGS.

ALSO, U CANNOT PRAY SELFISHLY AND NONE OF US HAVE COME TO THE PLACE WHERE WE CAN PRAY PERFECTLY. ONLY THE HOLY SPIRIT CAN PRAY PERFECTLY. ALSO, PRAYING GOD’S WILL.

THE SIGN OF SPEAKING IN NEW TONGUES WILL BE ON ALL BELIEVER. A PRAYER LANGUAGE EVERY BELIEVER SHOULD HAVE.

DO YOU THINK THAT GOD WOULD GIVE YOU A GIFT THAT WOULD GIVE YOU NO BENEFIT?

BECAUSE THE GIFT IS GREAT THE DEVIL FIGHTS IT

SPEAKING IN TONGUES MAKES U SUPER NATURAL. PRAYING THE WILL OF GOD. WHEN YOU PRAY GOD’S WILL HE WILL DO IT.

HE SAID I HOPE THAT ALL MY CHARISMATIC ENEMIES PRAY FOR ME IN TONGUES….

SIGN AND KNOWLEDGE

BF

Matthew 12: 38 Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.” 39 But He answered and said to them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.

PASTOR JOSEPH PRINCE  WROTE THAT:

People today run after two things: miraculous signs and wonders, and knowledge. It was no different in Bible times. The apostle Paul acknowledged that “Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom”. (1 Corinthians 1:22)

So when Paul preached Christ crucified as God’s solution to them, the message was “to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness”. (1 Corinthians 1:23) They didn’t understand how getting a revelation of Jesus and His death could give them the miracles they needed or the wisdom they wanted.

DOES THE BIBLE REALLY STATE THAT JEWS RAN AFTER MIRACLES SIGNS AND WONDERS? NO!

RATHER IT STATES THEY REQUESTED A SIGN NOT SIGNS?

AND IT’S NOT PAGANS WHO RUN AFTER miraculous signs and wonders BUT CHRISTIANS?

BUT PAGANS DO RUN AFTER KNOWLEDGE WHILE CHRISTIANS DO NOT!

IT BUGS ME WHEN CHRISTIANS DOWN PLAY THE IMPORTANCE OF GODLY MIRACLE SIGNS AND WONDERS AS SEEN IN THE MINISTRY OF JESUS PHILIP, PAUL AND BARNABAS

Acts 2:22 “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know —

Acts 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

ACTS 8:4    Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word.
5    Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them.
6    And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
7    For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed.
8    And there was great joy in that city.

Acts 15:12 Then all the multitude kept silent and listened to Barnabas and Paul declaring how many miracles and wonders God had worked through them among the Gentiles.

Acts 19:11 Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul,

THERE ARE TOO MANY PREACHERS IN AMERICA WHO ARE DEVOID OF MIRACLES, SIGNS AND WONDERS AND CANNOT SAY WHAT PAUL SAID:

1 Corinthians 2:
1    And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God.
2    For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
3    I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling.
4    And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,
5    that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

WALTER KAMBULOW

Hi Walter:
Jesus was trying to point out that there are “legitimate signs” by which a person, like Nicodemus recognized when he watched Jesus and which brought him to Jesus’ door.  He said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher sent from God; for no one can do the signs that you do, unless God is with him” (Jn. 3: 2).   Jesus identifies the “legitimate signs”  when He said, “These signs will follow (accompany) those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues (languages); they will pick up snakes and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover (Mk. 16: 17 – 18).  He goes on to say, “And they went forth and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message (word) by the signs that attended it. Amen.”

People still have a problem with the legitimate signs. Meanwhile, today’s scribes and Pharisees don’t want to accept the legitimate signs of proof which identify “legitimate proof of people of whom it can be said, as of Jesus, “for no one can do the signs that you do, unless God is with him (her).”  They reject the legitimate signs and chase after the false and illegitimate signs.   Our motto is, “No legitimate signs means a person is not sent from God”.

Yours in Jesus Christ,  Gordon

THE CHARACTER OF JESUS AND PAUL

FC

MATTHEW 12:9    Now when He had departed from there, He went into their synagogue.
10    And behold, there was a man who had a withered hand. And they asked Him, saying, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?” — that they might accuse Him.
11    Then He said to them, “What man is there among you who has one sheep, and if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not lay hold of it and lift it out?
12    Of how much more value then is a man than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”
13    Then He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and it was restored as whole as the other.
14    Then the Pharisees went out and plotted against Him, how they might destroy Him.
15    But when Jesus knew it, He withdrew from there. And great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them all.
16    Yet He warned them not to make Him known,
17    that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying:
18    ” Behold! My Servant whom I have chosen, My Beloved in whom My soul is well pleased! I will put My Spirit upon Him, And He will declare justice to the Gentiles.
19    He will not quarrel nor cry out, Nor will anyone hear His voice in the streets.
20    A bruised reed He will not break, And smoking flax He will not quench, Till He sends forth justice to victory;
21    And in His name Gentiles will trust.”
22    Then one was brought to Him who was demon-possessed, blind and mute; and He healed him, so that the blind and mute man both spoke and saw.
23    And all the multitudes were amazed and said, “Could this be the Son of David?”
24    Now when the Pharisees heard it they said, “This fellow does not cast out demons except by Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons.”
25    But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.
26    If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand?
27    And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges.
28    But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.
29    Or how can one enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house.
30    He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.
31    “Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men.
32    Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.
33     “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit.
34    Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
35    A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.
36    But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.
37    For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

MANY EVANGELICALS LIKE TO TALK ABOUT THE CHARACTER OF JESUS  WHO IS THE EPITOME OF LOVE AND DIDN’T QUARREL WITH ANYBODY AS PER THE SCRIPTURES He will not quarrel nor cry out  WHICH IS NOT TRUE WHEN WE COMPARE HIS WORDS Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things?

BUT JESUS THE EPITOME OF LOVE AND CHARACTER DIDN’T GO AROUND BLESSING PEOPLE WITH WORDS. HE DIDN’T BLESS THE RELIGIOUS AND POLITICAL LEADERS OF HIS DAY BUT CURSED THEM WITH WOE TO YOU?. ‘WOE TO YOU’ DOESN’T MEAN SOMETHING GOOD IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO YOU ESPECIALLY WHEN SPOKEN BY GOD INCARNATE.

YES JESUS, THE EPITOME OF LOVE AND CHARACTER, BAD MOUTHED PEOPLE. HE CALLED THEM ALL KINDS OF NAMES INCLUDING HYPOCRITES, MURDERERS, SERPENTS, BROOD OF VIPERS, LIARS, BLIND GUIDES, SONS OF HELL, ETC. HE TOLD THEM THEY WOULD NOT ESCAPE THE CONDEMNATION OF HELL (MATTHEW 23:15, 33, LUKE 11:24-25, 23:38-31) AND THEY DIDN’T!

AND APOSTLE PAUL TELL US Titus 3:2 to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men.
BUT PREVIOUSLY IN TITUS 1  PAUL STATED 10 For there are many insubordinate, both idle talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision,
11    whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole households, teaching things which they ought not, for the sake of dishonest gain.
12    One of them, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.”
13    This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith,
14    not giving heed to Jewish fables and commandments of men who turn from the truth.
15    To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled.
16    They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work.

ISN’T IT SPEAKING EVIL OF SOMEONE TO SAY “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons” NEVER MIND For there are many insubordinate, both idle talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision,  whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole households, teaching things which they ought not, for the sake of dishonest gain.

ADVOCATING THAT THE MOUTHS OF IDLE TALKER AND DECEIVERS MUST BE STOPPED IS TO BE QUARRELSOME?  ISN’T PAUL CONTRADICTORY IN TITUS?WELL I DISLIKE PREACHERS TREMENDOUSLY ESPECIALLY THE MOTIVATIONAL KINDS WHO TALK AND TALK BUT IN REALITY ARE DEVOID OF THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT UNLIKE MY FRIEND AND PASTOR GORDON WILLIAMS.

JOSEPH PRINCE, JOEL OSTEEN, KENNETH COPELAND, CHARLES STANLEY, RICK WARREN AND MANY OTHERS LIKE THEM CANNOT DO WHAT PHILIP DID OR GORDON DOES
ACTS 8:4 Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word.

TO A PERSON WHO IS HURTING OBVIOUSLY IT’S BETTER TO HEAR “TAKE UP YOUR BED AND WALK” THEN “KEEP THE FAITH” OR “ENDURE” WHICH IS WHAT MOST FOOLS PREACH AND SAY, AS THEY CANNOT DEMONSTRATE THE MIRACLE WORKING POWER OF GOD OR SAY WHAT APOSTLE PAUL AND TRUE ONES CAN SAY:
1 CORINTHIANS 2:1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God.
Spiritual Wisdom
6 However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.
7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory,
8 which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
9 But as it is written: ” Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.
12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.
13 These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
15 But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one.
16 For “who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

NOTES ON JOSEPH PRINCE
BEWARE: Joseph Prince Is A DANGEROUS False Teacher
Dan Corner
