DECEPTION

make usProphetic Deception

While a slew of “prophecies” and messages from God stream from the lips and pens of self-professed “prophets” and “apostles” who permeate Pentecostal and charismatic churches and ministries, a recent “word from the Lord” caught our attention as it was widely distributed through one prominent THIRD WAVE charismatic news agency, CHARISMA. Self-professed “apostle” Ryan LeStrange recently wrote that God came to him and told him that He is calling this generation to “move in the supernatural,” for He is restoring the signs and wonders movement. According to LeStrange, God said, “There is a banner of fire being cast over this generation, and I am raising up voices who will release My wind and My breath upon the embers in order to fan the flame” (Charisma, “Prophecy: God Is Restoring the Signs and Wonders Movement,” 12-8-14). “God” continued, “I am raising up and establishing healing ministries in the earth as a sign and a wonder. I am sending forth prophetic ministries in the earth to awaken My people from their slumber.… I am casting the mantle of supernatural ministry upon My people. I am calling them to arise into the kingdom. The kingdom is supernatural. My sons and daughters are supernatural people called to signs and wonders.”

The content of this “prophecy” is the very kind of nonsense that has permeated Pentecostal and charismatic religion since the  false “Third Wave” came onto the scene under the leadership of C. Peter Wagner and John Wimber in the 1980s. Why anybody would actually believe that God has personally spoken to this false prophet or that God would actually utter such nonsense is beyond comprehension, and yet thousands of people are spiritually blind and actually heeding the words of such deceivers.

Christians must beware of any religious leader who claims to have a “word,” “prophecy,” or “revelation” from the Lord. The bible says all prophecies must be judged:
1 Corinthians 14:29 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge.
1 Thessalonians 5:21 “Test all things; hold fast what is good.

How to Judge a Prophetic Word

If a person claims to have received a word from the Lord to give to you, the first important point is to “recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you” (1 Thess. 5:12). Is the person respected in the church and in the body of Christ, or is he or she a rebel on the loose and a self-appointed prophet who left a church in a negative manner because the “pastor wasn’t spiritual enough”? At times pastors detect arrogance and pride and a wrong spirit, and this is why this lone ranger prophet or prophetess was removed from the assembly of the saints! So the first point is not to accept a word just because a person claims, “The Lord told me thus and so . . . ” Know something about the person’s reputation and character.

The second point is to examine if the word agrees 100 percent with the inspired Scriptures. Never, and I do mean never, will a word from the Holy Spirit contradict the Bible. The Lord will never tell a person to suddenly leave his or her companion for another “more spiritual” individual, because marriage is a covenant. (Some have done this in the name of “the Lord told me to.”) The Lord would never permit a person, in the name of Christian liberty, to participate in substances that cause drunkenness and addiction to an individual, for “drunkards” cannot “inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Cor. 6:10). God is not the author of confusion, nor is He the author of most church splits where individuals are hurt, offended, and quit serving God because of the confusion and distrust created when people divided their loyalty. God is the author of “peace . . . in all the churches” (1 Cor. 14:33).

The third point is that a prophetic word must agree with your spirit and will only confirm what you already know. Because vessels are human and subject to fallibility, prophetic words are to be judged by other mature and older people within the church, as it is written: “Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge” (1 Cor. 14:29). The Greek word for “judge” here is diakrino, which can mean to “separate thoroughly” and implies the ability to dissect what was spoken and see if it is a correct statement. The root word krino is a legal term meaning to make a decision on the basis of the information presented, similar to the informed decision a jury makes after hearing the pertinent information.

When you tell a person giving you a prophetic word that you are going to judge the message by sharing it with other mature believers, you will be able to tell if that speaker has the right spirit.
A humble sincere person will agree, but the “prophets” who speak out of their own spirits will become angry that you would even question their spiritual integrity and authority!

THE GARDEN OF EDEN AND FULL GOSPEL

AETHE GARDEN OF EDEN AND FULL GOSPEL

Acts 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

1 John 3:8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

3 John 1:2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10

God didn’t create the Wilderness of Eden but the Garden of Eden? And when God first created the Garden of Eden and put man there, there was no poverty or sickness there at all. It was a beautiful lush rich place abounding with every good thing.  It was a fertile, well-cultivated region, not a desert or wasteland? Contrary to what many religious leaders teach and preach there is no value in poverty or in the fear of being rich. God, who supplied miraculously Adam’s every need in the Garden of Eden and has freely given us all things, delights in the prosperity of His servants. It’s the jealous devil who is against God’s people having money and being prosperous.  It is also true when people are poor God is robbed of pleasure and when people do not have enough to give, God is denied pleasure. God’s word is true:

Let them be ashamed and brought to mutual confusion Who rejoice at my hurt; Let them be clothed with shame and dishonor  Who exalt themselves against me.  Let them shout for joy and be glad,  Who favor my righteous cause;  And let them say continually, “Let the LORD be magnified,  Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.” Psalm 35:26-27

Indeed I have all and abound. I am full, having received from Epaphroditus the things sent from you, a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God. Philippians 4:18

So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.  2 Corinthians 9:7

There are those religious fools who believe that poverty and sickness are the will of God and use Apostle Paul as an example to prove their case! But they never ask for God to give them more of poverty and sickness and they use the services of a doctor to try and get delivered or ask strangers for money to support them in their so called work of the Lord!  If God’s will wasn’t prosperity for man He would not have created the Garden of Eden and put man in charge there. He would have created a barren wasteland and wilderness and put man to suffer there?  But God cannot stand wastelands and wilderness and He gets glory by changing them into fruitful fields and forests. God’s word is unchanging:

The wilderness and the wasteland shall be glad for them, And the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose;  It shall blossom abundantly and rejoice, Even with joy and singing. The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it,  The excellence of Carmel and Sharon.  They shall see the glory of the LORD,  The excellency of our God. Isaiah 35:1-2

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:5

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich. 2 Corinthians 8:9

Prosperity and Healing is God’s will for man and it’s a good transition from a negative circumstance to a positive one, especially because of Jesus being wounded for our transgression and being bruised for our iniquities. As a result the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. The word “peace” in the Bible includes the idea of our well-being in every area of life not just our bodies.  Jesus became poor, not to set an example — but that we might become rich! The price has been paid for our prosperity for poverty is a curse, not a blessing, and God’s word is unchanging:

“But it shall come to pass, if you do not obey the voice of the LORD your God, to observe carefully all His commandments and His statutes which I command you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you:  “Cursed shall you be in the city, and cursed shall you be in the country.  “Cursed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.  “Cursed shall be the fruit of your body and the produce of your land, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks.  “Cursed shall you be when you come in, and cursed shall you be when you go out.   “The LORD will send on you cursing, confusion, and rebuke in all that you set your hand to do, until you are destroyed and until you perish quickly, because of the wickedness of your doings in which you have forsaken Me. Deuteronomy 28:15-20

Yes true Christians believe in prosperity and the wholeness of man because that was the original state of man in the Garden of Eden until sin and Satan entered the picture. They don’t believe in poverty and sickness because Jesus never preached or demonstrated that it was the will of God.

God has no problem healing us, but we have a problem believing it. There is no lack with God, but we experience lack because of unbelief. There is actually more than you can handle with God, cup running over, get extra jars and pots and pour out the oil until all are full, water pots filled with the best wine, so many fish the nets began to break, they took up twelve baskets full of bread and fish fragments after all 5000 ate, there is more than enough, much more than enough. What causes lack? Unbelief. Unbelief also causes you not to enter God’s rest. Why don’t you just rest and believe God today? Remove the cork. Believe!

Many times Christians struggle to manifest prosperity according to the world’s standards. However, prosperity according to God’s Word extends beyond any prosperity we can ever find in the world. Prosperity from God makes us whole in every area of life. It is a prosperity that goes beyond a dollar amount. True prosperity is Christ-centered, and it comes from a complete dependence upon Jesus Christ.

Society’s definition of prosperity is limited to finances; however, God’s definition of prosperity means wholeness.

To prosper spiritually you must be a born-again Christian.

To prosper physically means you are healed and healthy in your body.

We prosper as our soul prospers (3 John 1:2-4, AMP).

To prosper within the soul begins with the process of transforming your mind with God’s Word.

The soul of man consists of the mind, will (decision making), and emotions.

The enemy attacks our thinking. Wrong thinking prevents our prosperity.

Now Jesus Christ operated in all the gifts of the  Spirit and because Christ lives in every true Spirit filled believer they can also do the same!  God’s word is unchanging.

Acts 6

5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude. And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch, …8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people.

Acts 8:5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them. 6 And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.7 For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed. 8 And there was great joy in that city.

2 Corinthians 12:12 Truly the signs of an apostle were accomplished among you with all perseverance, in signs and wonders and mighty deeds.

It’s to be noted that Stephen and Phillip were not apostles but layman who were full of faith, power and the Holy Spirit and did great wonders and signs among the people! Ahd the gifts of thee Spirit were given to the church of Jesus Christ as long as it exists on earth:

1 Corinthians 12:28 And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.

The basis of Full Gospel of Jesus Christ is that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever, He is in the now by the power of the Holy Spirit. And God confirms the preaching of His word with miracles, signs and wonders following!

Faith is the currency of the kingdom of God used by God’s believing people   to obtain whatever  we need including salvation, healing, deliverance miracles and financial blessings.

Evangelicals of all persuasions including Pentecostals rob people of great blessings when they deny and don’t preach on the importance of faith  while the word of God tells us how important it truly is:

HEBREWS 11:30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they were encircled for seven days. 31 By faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe, when she had received the spies with peace. 32    And what more shall I say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gideon and Barak and Samson and Jephthah, also of David and Samuel and the prophets: 33    who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, 34    quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

True believers in Christ, Christians, walk in Holy Ghost power that gives proof of the resurrection. This is way more than quoting a bible scripture, teaching a nice Sunday school class or sharing with a friend at the coffee shop. Jesus said, “He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do because I go unto my Father” (John 14:12).

Before a person can receive the benefits of salvation they need to know what belongs to them. This is confirmed in the scripture, “Faith cometh for by hearing and hearing by the Word of God” (Romans 10:17). Once you know what belongs to you then all you need to do is receive it. That goes as much for deliverance from unclean spirits as it does for physical healing. The Apostle Paul wrote that he prayed for believers to come to the place where they knew what belonged to them in Christ. Today we could call those the benefits of salvation. He wrote,

“That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church.” (Ephesians 1:17-22)

Apostle Paul’s ministry wasn’t to entertain the believers!

1 COR. 2:4-5 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

Paul preached in the power of the fullness of god’s blessings and not just words

ROMANS 15:17    Therefore I have reason to glory in Christ Jesus in the things which pertain to God. 18    For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ has not accomplished through me, in word and deed, to make the Gentiles obedient — 19    in mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God, so that from Jerusalem and round about to Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

…29    But I know that when I come to you, I shall come in the fullness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.

Preaching a half truth is to preach a lie. It is sin and demonic not to preach the whole gospel that Jesus Christ is not only Lord, but savior, healer, provider, deliverer, miracle worker and Baptizer in the Holy Spirit who confirms the preaching by His true ones with miracles signs and wonders following like Philip had. And to have a form of godliness while denying its power is sin and rebellion!

Yes Jesus was a Pentecostal so why would that make some Christians upset?  Jesus, was filled with the holy spirit, led by the holy spirit, operated in the gifts of the holy spirit to heal the sick, cast out demons and raise the dead? Also, the disciples were same as they followed all that Jesus taught them. So why would that make them angry unless it’s the devil doing it because they need deliverance for not doing the same?

Why do evangelicals ignore the words of Jesus that  the baptism of the spirit gives true Christians power which carnal anemic impotent Christians don’t have:

ACTS 1:4    And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; 5    for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” 6    Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7    And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8    But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Many so called bible believing Christians are real  nuts who worship the bible above Jesus Christ whom they don’t obey. They offer a wimpy anemic counterfeit Jesus who loves everybody and wants everybody in heaven and ignore the fact that Jesus Christ who is the same yesterday, today and forever is a man of war who kills His enemies! They have a form of godliness and deny its power. They are devoid of truth, miracle, signs and wonders contrary to the commands of Jesus (Mark 16:14-20). They are devoid of wisdom and discernment as defined by Isaiah 11:1-6 and 1 Corinthians 2:1-16. They hate the gifts of the Spirit and don’t practice them (1 Corinthians 12-14)

All they ever do is talk and talk and talk and judge others as not being Christians! They throw true Christians out of their anemic impotent useless churches! They preach that suffering and poverty is the will of God and miracles have ceased but when they are sick they run to a doctor instead of accepting sickness as the will of God. They think they are on the way to heaven when in reality they are on the way to hell as they are the foolish virgins (Matthew 25:1-12). They are nothing but a cult!

Paul mentioned such people who refused the Baptism of the Holy Spirit in 1 Cor. 14: 23 – 24. The Greek word that he uses to describe them is “idiotai” (plural), “idiotes” (singular) which means they are spiritual “idiots” but usually translated as “ungifted” of “unskilled” or laymen, amateurs, unskilled  people.  They do not want the Holy Spirit nor do they want the Gifts of the Holy Spirit.  But they want to be involved in churches and prevent the real work of God which requires the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.  They are people who want what God has without coming under His Lordship which requires the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the “Signs” of the Holy Spirit.  They are like the Pharisees of whom Jesus said, “for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God” (Jn. 12: 3). Samuel told Saul, “Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness as iniquity and idolatry.  Because you have rejected the word of the LORD (Yahweh), he has also rejected you from being king” (1 Sam. 15: 23).  This aplies today who do not want to do what Jesus requires of them.

They think that because they have prayed the “sinner’s prayer” that they can ignore what the Scriptures require and not lose their Salvation.  That’s the reason why Jesus warn us in Revelation 3: 5 that when somebody turns away from Him, they can have their names blotted out (removed) from the Book of Life.  Also: Heb. 6: 1 – 8; 2 Pet. 2: 20 – 22; Proverbs 26: 11.  Jesus aptly warns us, “Beware of false prophets  which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.  You will know them by their fruits.  Do men gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles” (Matt. 7: 15: 16).

Dispensationalism is the product of people who want to re-organize the Kingdom of Heaven according to their warped thinking. These people don’t like God’s Biblical Church Organization and they have re-organized it in such a way to eliminate His Grace by replacing it with their own ideas.  They have a real problem with God’s Covenant Relationship.  So, they have a lot of problems relating to the New Testament and try to explain the Bible in their unbiblical ways.

I dislike powerless evangelicals and fundamentalists who put great emphasis on doctrines and ignore the gifts of the Spirit. They talk much but don’t cast out devils instead cast out people from their churches. They don’t heal the sick but instead make people sick with their doctrines of demons. The bible says of them:

2 Timothy 3:5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

Sin is not the problem. The problem is that these people have not asked, believed or received God’s full gospel of Christ. They are trying to do it on their own in their own human frailty. Jesus, said “it is finished”. Yes, Jesus already paid in full everything on our behalf.

Whenever a church or denomination loses its power  and effectiveness because it stopped being full of faith, wisdom, holy spirit and power , it starts to trust in the wisdom of men including Pauline doctrines conjured out of Paul’s epistles! Doctrines such as unlimited grace, once saved, always saved, predestination, women cannot preach, pastors are to rule churches, love is the greatest, miracles have ceased, etc.

The word of God tells us that apostle Paul never intended that his writings be a substitute for having our faith in the power of God but in the wisdom of men.

Too many people have tried to be “Christians” on their own strength and without the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit.

However fleshly carnal ones love things they can control including doctrine and understanding of scriptures since they cannot control the Holy Spirit and His gifts including miracles.

As a result the fleshly ones  who are devoid of power and truth hate  Jesus commands and statements in  Mark 16:14 Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen.15    And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16    He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.17    And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18    they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” 19    So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.20    And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.

The reason why so many people do not want to receive the Holy Spirit and accept the work of the Holy Spirit through speaking in the new real languages that Jesus wants us to have is that they only want Jesus to be their Saviour and not their Lord (Matt. 7: 21 – 23).  They are in rebellion against Jesus being Lord and God.  They are the ones of whom Jesus referred when He said, “And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; if he does, the new wine will burst the skins and it will be spilled, and the skins will be destroyed.  But new wine is must be put into new wineskins.  And no one after drinking new wine  desires new; for he says, “The old is better” (Lk. 5: 37 – 39).  That’s the reason why they love the OT.  They do not like the taste of the New Wine Who is the Holy Spirit.  They do not like God’s grace because it causes people, like them, to react like the workers in the Parable of the Householder or the workers hired at different times of the day and were all paid the same wage at the end of the day.  Those who worked for the full day complained that they all received the same pay (salvation).  The owner said, “Or do you begrudge my generosity?” (Matt. 20: 15).  The Greek reads, “Is your eye evil because I am good?”  These people who resist the work of the Holy Spirit want to be their own selfish selves guided by their own sinful understanding of the work of Jesus Christ or worse the devil and/demons.

JESUS CHRIST THE SAME  http://wp.me/p2M7AJ-Xf

It is a function of “agape love” to correct people and to call them to repentance.   Ignorant protestors, who don’t believe in public or private correction and say it’s a hateful thing to do, need to read one of Paul’s letters to Timothy.  It reads, “All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God  may be complete, equipped for every good work” (2 Tim. 3: 16 – 17).  Anybody who is beyond correction places themselves outside of God will.  And note it is “all Scripture” not some or whatever we don’t like.  Blind protestors are a spiritual danger to themselves and other people.

The demonized evangelicals in my part of the woods who don’t operate in the gifts of the spirit always talked about the importance of forgiving others as though it was the only thing in the bible. But some people you don’t forgive just like Jesus never forgave Judas. You don’t forgive unrepented rapists, liars, thieves, deceivers, pedophiles, lesbians  and scoundrels!

They should read their bible which clearly talks about pedophiles and says in Luke 17 about the woe that will come to them:
1    Then He said to the disciples, “It is impossible that no offenses should come, but woe to him through whom they do come! 2  It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones. 3    Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.

It is not true that as some Third Wave fools claim that” health and wealth ends with man, and signs and wonders with Jesus.”  Yes I have seen more extremes and fruit loops in the signs and wonders camp than anywhere else. Chasing non biblical signs and wonders that have nothing to do with Jesus. I hear more of Jesus being preached and sound biblical teaching from Word of Faith then the others. When gold dust, gold teeth and so called angel feathers are chased (and I have seen people crawling around on the floor looking for gold dust, gems etc.) over an encounter with the Lord something is wrong. There is more preaching about the fluff and stuff then Jesus! Time and time again people have been caught planting such foolishness. So this camp is no better where exalting Jesus is concerned then those that do pollute the prosperity message. I am all about the glory of God and His presence, but a lot of the foolishness going on with the signs and wonders camp are no better than the extremes of some in Word of Faith. The Bible tells us what signs believers are to expect and they are to follow us, not us chase after them!

When I lived in Florida from 1994 I personally experienced the lying signs and wonders and the false counterfeit Christ preached by fools such as Rodney Howard Browne, Pastor Karl Strader. Pastor Stephen Strader, Pastor Ron Clark, and Bishop Randy White.  I went to many of their meetings and found these pastors to be egotistic Third Wave fools. I especially dislike Rodney Howard Browne and his brothers. Rodney tried to raise his daughter from the dead and failed and I never saw him operate in the gifts of the spirit. He was a deceiving coward who taught pastors that the sheep existed to be fleeced and was robbed by Pastor Karl Strader of thousands of dollars during the revival meetings held in Lakeland. So he blessed Karl for it and bought him a new Lincoln town car not with his own money but with the money of the dumb sheep. he and his brothers are stupid false Pentecostal nuts

Rodney never earned his doctorate degree as it is an honorary one – he is nothing but a “loud mouth” who has told others that “Walter hates pastors” while the truth is “Walter hates false egotistic deceiving pastors” who also do not demonstrate a deliverance ministry but a thieving ministry.

I have debated with Rodney a few times and tell everybody he is a stupid idiot who could not discern that his friend Karl Strader and the Straders were liars deceivers and thieves.

DAN STRADER IS NOT INNOCENT http://www.scribd.com/doc/33762241

Rodney the Fleecer http://tinyurl.com/343w372

A secondary Lakeland Revival with thieving and lying Todd Bentley and Stephen Strader was also a joke. Think about it what can lying thieving deceiving adulterous Todd Bentley the sorcerer offer a troubled world that has its own problems? Nothing! Because they have no integrity.

Richard Lambert says:  April 14, 2014 at 7:22 am

Adultery is adultery, in this case it is an ongoing sin, it is not past and forgiven, Todd and his first wife were both Christians and by leaving his first wife and marrying a new wife Todd has and still is committing adultery, and he causes his new wife to be in sin as well. God forgives, heals and restores, a real testimony of God doing anything in Todd’s life would involve him being convicted of sin, turning to God in repentance and be healed and restored. Even his first marriage can be restored in God. The wages of sin is death, a man who sins sexually sins against his own body. Todd was a great one for preaching and administering healing, yet he fails to note that God’s law and his word has inbuilt power to bring peace and healing. A life lived right in Christ will bear much fruit, the fruits are those of the Spirit; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, self-control. It sounds like the fruits of Todd’s life are exactly the opposite of these fruits of the spirit. Shortly before Lakeland in 2008 I received a prophetic word that Todd Bentley was not sent by the Lord, I shared this with my Christian family (parents and brothers) who happened to be in the USA at the time, it transpired that they were travelling to the Lakeland ‘revival’ at the very time they received the word the Lord had given me. Sadly they did not receive the word and said I was wrong and was not hearing God, they said ‘we will see in the future the fruits and who is right, and whoever is wrong can apologies to the other’ Now nearly six years later there has been no apology, no restoration my relationship with my family was ruined and is yet to be restored. I believe that Todd Bentley and his fake revival caused such division amongst believers that the true extent of damage caused is immeasurable, certainly far outweighing any claimed good that was ever achieved.

These so called revival meetings have caused many people to become sick rather than finding healing. Their reports tell us of false prophecies, of gold teeth which when examined by dentists are just discolored yellow caused by sulphur in the air, gold dust that disappears, and cheap imitation so-called jewels which are poor imitations but are copies of the them similar to what I bought in a children’s store. The jeweler told them that they were “valueless” which they mistook for being “invaluable”. In other words, they were “of no value or use; worthless”. The medical examinations of people who thought they had been healed were disappointing because, like Todd thought, participation in such meetings would result in healing and good health as we see happening in real full gospel meetings. He has been deluded in these meetings and misled by false prophecies, false everything. We have had to set more people free from these false blessing possessions!

In all of Todd’s so-called meetings, he has grieved (Eph. 4: 30), quenched (1 Thess. 5: 19), outraged the Holy Spirit the Spirit of Grace (Heb. 10: 29) and blasphemed (Mk. 3: 28 – 30). He has lived and publicly displayed the “works of the flesh” (Gal. 5: 19 – 21). He turned worship into a self-centered X-rated entertainment (1 Cor. 14: 26f.). He has danced with the devil/Satan as if he, the devil, was God. The result is that he has been living under the wrath of God (Rom. 1:18, 2: 8) mistaking it for the blessing of God. He has gone beyond what is written (1 Cor. 4: 6) and has gone beyond what is written and has become “puffed up in favor of one against another. He has become what Jesus said to the Sadducees, “You are wrong because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God” (Matt. 22: 29).

Bentley: Lakeland Liar interviewed on ABC Night line http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMAVPXPx6H8

Yes the so called Third Wave leaders who are also supposed to be Apostles, Prophets and men of God not only have no integrity but are liars, thieves, manipulators and scoundrels. Their leaders suffer from Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD)   in which a person is excessively preoccupied with personal adequacy, power, prestige and vanity, mentally unable to see the destructive damage they are causing to themselves and to others in the process and they include scoundrels Rodney Howard Browne, Richard Roberts, Stephen Strader, Todd Bentley,  Benny Hinn and Patricia King. And let’s not forget Rick Joyner, Stacey Campbell, Dutch Sheets, and Peter C. Wagner).

Whenever these false apostles or pastors appoint themselves to whatever imagined leadership, they place themselves above God and cannot afford to tolerate any questions.  Our God does not appoint dictators but “servants of all” (Mk. 9: 35).

They are also cowards who character assassinate and lie about their critics just like Pastor Stephen Strader of Ignited Church, Lakeland Florida did a while about Walter Kambulow who is not afraid of exposing them and letting everybody see what they really are.

Stephen R Strader “Walter Dear is a cowardly snake — please report him then block him! He is a pervert who has been stalking me since1996. Canadian authorities are looking for him even now. Thank you!”

But that is to be expected from the criminal Strader family where Dan Strader with the help of his father Pastor Karl Strader through a “Ponzi scheme” robbed a church member and friend of the family Roy Aldrich of $ 100,000 as well as many other elderly members of the church and community. (NOT INNOCENT http://www.scribd.com/doc/33762241

Dan Strader until this day has refused to admit that he was guilty and as a result Judge Doyle sentenced him to 45 years in jail. Till this day the Criminal Strader family, including Pastor Stephen Strader, have maintained that Dan was innocent and Roy Aldrich was the criminal!

Roy Aldrich contacted me when I was living in Tampa to tell me the whole story and he died prematurely of a stroke a few months later because the Pastor Karl Strader fired his wife Patricia from being a teacher at the church school and they lost their medical coverage. He was murdered by his beloved pastor Karl and the Strader family! And all these deceived demonized ones who are liars, cowards and monsters tell us they have the answer to all of life’s problem? Give me break! We are not as stupid or deceived as they are

BELIEVE ON JESUS

What God has made clean, don’t call unclean. If you cannot believe for miracles, you have joined the wrong religion. Everything about the life of Jesus is a miracle. How do you find yourself in a pew with no miracles, no faith, and no joy? How do you call that “worshipping God”? You have to believe to receive. This is not make believe. This is not clappy hands and smiles. This is God, trying desperately to save you in spite of yourself. But if you are offended by the Holy Spirit of God, If you call it demonic. If you call good evil and evil good. Then guess what? The Lord has a controversy with you, because there is innocent blood on your hands. Not just your own blood but the blood of all those you prevented from entering in. If you must be a blind guide, hurry up and fall in the ditch where you belong. But as for me and my house we will serve the Lord.

Yes, there are phony signs and wonders from false prophets, but when does that EVER negate the true reality of God All-mighty making a way where there is no way in the midst of your calamity? God is a way maker, a dream maker. Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, and it has not entered into your little blessed heart, all the things God has for you. Blessings and miracles a plenty. But won’t it be sad to get to heaven and see all the things the Lord had for you that you never received, because you would not believe. The blame is on you, not on God. He gave His only son, Jesus. He became poor that you might become rich. He died for your salvation. He took the stripes for your healing. Stop asking Jesus to do more for you than He has already done. Rather, GET UP! Pick up your sleeping pad and go home. Stop being a LAME person hanging around the church waiting for a miracle. Jesus is the miracle. Believe on Him and be saved. Believe on Jesus and be delivered. Believe on Jesus and be made every whit whole. Stop waiting on God, God is waiting on you…to believe HIM!!!! Step into it! Get up in Jesus name

THE THIRD WAVE FLUFF AND STUFF

Just because some have perverted prosperity I am not going to lump them all together and throw it out. The Bible does teach that God wants to prosper us and healing is available to us that believe. You have extremes in all doctrine and in every camp/denomination etc. That is not true that health and wealth ends with man, and signs and wonders with Jesus. I have seen more extremes and fruit loops in the signs and wonders camp than anywhere else. Chasing non biblical signs and wonders that have nothing to do with Jesus. I hear more of Jesus being preached and sound biblical teaching from Word of Faith then the others. When gold dust, gold teeth and so called angel feathers are chased (and I have seen people crawling around on the floor looking for gold dust, gems etc) over an encounter with the Lord something is wrong.

OFF THE WALL

J GOLLJAMES GOLL IS OFF THE WALL AND SO IS CHARISMA TO PRINT THE STUFF

Steve Strang, Grady and co are the biggest nut jobs in the US. Publishing this crap to generate dollars proves how munch of a low life scumbag Strang is. These fruit loops are off their rockers! GARY MACDOUGALL

JAMES GOLL THE THIRD WAVE FOOL TALKS ABOUT SEEING JOHN WIMBER WHO DIED UNHEALED OF CANCER AND WAS THE FOUNDER OF VINEYARD DENOMINATION – WIMBER WAS A HYPOCRITICAL NUT WHO HAD SOME VERY STRANGE IDEAS AND DIDN’T DEAL PROPERLY WITH THE TORONTO CURSE!

Hi Walter:  This Goll is the kind of a person or people that Paul criticized in his letter to the Galatian Church for perverting the Gospel by trying to get  the believers there to go back under the law with another gospel that is not a gospel.  He said such people perverted the Gospel. He said of them,”let him be accursed.”  This fool has gone back into the OT to celebrate Rosh Hashanah.  The smoke they in the Mott Auditorium with their burning fiery “sacrifice of violent praise” was God’s rejection of them.  He said, “I smelled burnt flesh.  I smelled aromas of life and death simultaneously”.

First of all, there has been one and only ONE acceptable sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary.  Listen what the Lord God says, “I hate, I despise your feasts, and I take no delight in your solemn assemblies.  Even though you offer me your burnt offerings and cereal offerings, I will not accept them, and the peace offerings of your fatted beasts I will not look upon.  Take away the noise of your songs; to the melody of your harps I will not listen.  But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an everflowing stream (Amos 5: 21 – 24).

That is what our God thinks of this foolish offering of sacrifices by people who deny the work of Jesus Christ.  It translates into having his name removed from the Book of Life (Rev. 3: 5).

And by he way, this is how stupid his Goll is because William Seymour can not leap over anything because he is dead and kept very busy in paradise.  What we have here is what Paul writes about in 2 Thess. 2: 11 – 12):  “Therefore God sends upon them a strong delusion, to make them believe what is false, so that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”  He and his pogo jumping delusion are in big trouble.  And, finally, the Holy Spirit has never left this earth because He is continually Baptizing people with the Holy Spirit.  The only person that is fragmented is Jame Goll because, as we have said about people like him, “You are wrong because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God” (Jn. 22: 29).  Perhaps the most laughable thing about his message is that he is telling the Holy Spirit “And the invitation must have an  urgent and appropriate response.”

A Line Has Been Drawn in the Sand

1:00PM EDT 4/14/2013 Dr. James W. Goll James Goll

One of the most consistent ways the Lord speaks to me is through the avenue of dreams. Many of my writing and speaking assignments are given to me in such a manner. Prayer assignments over the years have almost always come in the forms of visitations and visions. This is especially true if it is a strategic assignment.

While ministering in Brazil in July 2012, I was seeking the Lord for His mind and thoughts concerning future movements of the Holy Spirit. I went to sleep in my hotel room in Belo Horizonte and woke up out of a “stunner of a dream.” The manifested presence of God was riveting on my body as an after effect of this dream encounter. It shook me.

I have yet to tell the full dream experience publicly, but I have been directed to present portions of it to you now. Perhaps I will be released at a later date and the proper setting to actually proclaim the message. For now, I am going to steer away from my craft of interpreting and just bring you the raw message.

I Saw Southern California as a Womb for the Body of Christ!
Like an eagle in flight, I was hovering over the globe in search of a place to land. Suddenly the entire West Coast of the United States came before me. I was zoomed in upon the state of California and with the eye of an eagle I saw glimpses of redemptive purposes and plans. I then turned in flight over portions of Southern California and I saw something that seemed unusual. Southern California was a womb for the Body of Christ. She had been used to conceive the Word and the Spirit over the last one hundred years of the Church and to bring forth different movements of God.

My “knower” was on high alert as I flew over Los Angeles and Orange County—that this womb had already received another word implanted at least a year earlier and that another long-term, almost overdue, birth was imminent. I then soared over Pasadena and the next thing I knew, the eagle suddenly flew into the historic Mott Auditorium on the hallowed grounds of William Carey University.

I Saw John Wimber Standing on the Platform!
Suddenly on the wings of an eagle, I was taken into Mott Auditorium in Pasadena, Calif. The place was packed with worshipping believers with standing room only. The atmosphere was electric with the presence of God. Rabid worship was happening with occasional authoritative declarations by various leaders. I noticed a few desperate pastors I knew crying out with anguish for God to visit them once again. Then things suddenly shifted.

All of a sudden, the late John Wimber, former leader of the Vineyard Movement and voice for the Third Wave, was firmly standing on the newly purple-carpeted platform. The cultural atmosphere was now pregnant with a realm of the glory and the thick majesty of God. Then I heard and felt the voice of John Wimber echo an invitation that rattled the entire place. He simply declared, “COME AGAIN HOLY SPIRIT!”

People started crashing to the floor en masse under the impact of the power and authority that resonated in those simple words. Once again another sound wave was released, “COME AGAIN HOLY SPIRIT.” It was not gentle Jesus showing up, or the comforting dove of God manifesting. It was not just another renewal or revival meeting, though it seemed to include all of those qualities. It was the violent invasion of Heaven entering a time and space world. It was a Church quake.

I felt the reverberation coming off the sound waves of the voice of the invitation. It shook the very building, the grounds and all those present. The fear of the Lord fell and an earthquake of a 5.7 magnitude resulted. The quake resulted in an anointing resting on Psalm 57: “Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious to me. For my soul takes refuge in You; And in the shadow of Your wings I will take refuge until destruction passes by. I will cry to God Most High, to God who accomplishes all things for me. He will send from Heaven and save me” (NASB).

People screamed in terror as the entire grounds and buildings were rattled by the sound of God’s voice being heard and felt once again. Signs and wonders broke out but it appeared as an aftereffect, not the primary goal. Then a third time I heard the pronouncement from John Wimber, “COME AGAIN HOLY SPIRIT!” People crashed onto the floor in droves.

As I pen this, I just now realized some things I had forgotten. They just flashed suddenly within me as I compose this. I also saw the late Jill Austin, one of the fieriest prophetesses of the last decade, gazing in upon the happening and smiling. I heard her laugh echo over the occurrence as to say, “I told you He was coming!” I saw a great cloud of witnesses including Aimee Semple McPherson and others gathering around to peer in upon this strange outbreak. The convergence of old anointings still seemingly resident upon California was now colliding.

Suddenly I Was Awakened!
My senses were heightened. It was July and I was ministering in Brazil—a land pregnant with revival—but suddenly it appeared to be another season and it was fall, right at the time of the Jewish New Year of Rosh Hashanah. Then pages of a book flipped quickly from one chapter of time to another and suddenly it was 40 days and nights later. I smelled smoke in Mott Auditorium as the place had been filled with the burning fiery sacrifices of violent praise and worship. I smelled burnt flesh. I smelled aromas of life and death simultaneously at work.

Short messages from different anointed vessels were a part of this new sound wave but again it was not the main thing. Miracles happened. They suddenly occurred. But again, this was not the aim. It was not why the people even assembled. Yes, there were even short passionate pleas and desperate cries for help! But even that was not the central focus. This move of God centered on the radical worship of the One—Christ Jesus the Lord and the abandoned welcoming of the Third Person of the Godhead—the Holy Spirit! The jealousy of God permeated the experience.

It was not a conference. It was not even polished. It was not even 24/7 as we presently know it. It was raw and overpowering. It was not rehearsed. It was an invasion of the Holy Spirit Himself.

A window of opportunity had opened and this uncontrollable surging sound wave jumped spontaneously around the globe. A man appeared on a pogo stick gleefully jumping from city to city and nation to nation. The man on the stick was William Seymour of the historic Azusa Street Revival. He leapt across the nations and everywhere his pogo stick landed, light came for a brief moment! The nations were in an uproar—and fire and light were falling around the globe.

Then I heard one last word:

“A Line Has Been Drawn in the Sand.”
Terror gripped me. I shook. I honestly did not know what was coming next. I still do not know having pondered deeply on this experience. Was it Days of Glory or impending societal chaos? Was it times of economic collapse or reformation where a new order was created out of tumultuous uncertainty? I honestly was left not knowing what the outcome or the result was or would be.

But this I knew: Hope for the fragmented Body of Christ and the nations was being released. An invitation was being sent from Heaven to earth and a line was being drawn in the sand.

The word went in me. The word penetrated me. The word has disturbed me. But this I know, Heaven has a word that must be heard in the earth realm, “COME AGAIN HOLY SPIRIT!” And the invitation must have an urgent and appropriate response.

THIRD WAVE FALSE REVIVALS

BC

The Blatant Hypocrisy of The Third Wave False Apostles and Prophets

Matthew 4:23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people.

Acts 10: 38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

The Third Wave preacher and fools still get sick. They still die of cancer unhealed. Their marriages fall apart. They struggle with alcohol. They commit adultery. They are devoid of real honesty, integrity, truth and accountability. They run away from constructive biblical criticism, judgment and rebuke and throw false words around like “Judge Not!” Touch not my anointed” and “You are off the devil.” Their arrogance and snobbery stinks to high heaven! Their so called miracles and healing are not substantiated or documented in the news media!  They would like to have us believe that Jesus said:
“When I go away i will send the Holy Spirit who will cause you to twitch, shake, quake and behave like animals?”

They truly are demonized and don’t know it! Watch the video: STACEY CAMPBELL THE WITCHhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-VIR82MGqE

Their leaders suffer from Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD)   in which a person is excessively preoccupied with personal adequacy, power, prestige and vanity, mentally unable to see the destructive damage they are causing to themselves and to others in the process

They deceive undiscerning ones  with names such as Apostle Steve Strang and General James Goll. Third Wave fools like Matt Sorger the Benny Hinn clone CLAIM THAT HE unlocks destinies as he equips believers with the artillery of the Word of God, giving out essential keys on how to take down our individual Goliaths when it’s all garbage that doesn’t work. But of course they are money changers who sell videos, cd’s, book , are always requesting money and talk about a nonexistent wealth transfer which never happens?

1. MATT SORGER: THE MAKING OF A WARRIOR

In this message Matt Sorger unlocks destinies as he equips believers with the artillery of the Word of God, giving out essential keys on how to take down our individual Goliaths. Matt makes it clear that we will not step into our destinies without a fight, sharing on the results and power of the smooth stones of sustainability, endurance, brokenness, repentance, and faith. This is a vital word that will catapult you to your next level of influence, authority, power, and victory in your land of inheritance.

2. CINDY JACOBS: RELEASING THE KINGDOM OF GOD TO DISCIPLE NATIONS

This is a crucial message where Cindy Jacobs discusses the importance of holiness as we walk forth in the great commission of Christ. When you walk into a movie theatre, are you risking your holiness for the sake of entertainment, she questions. Cindy shares that God wants to marry righteousness and justice. We are obligated as believers to take the message of holiness into the world and the industries of society. We need holiness preaching, she zealously states. Cindy also shares on Gods heart to see the eradication of systemic poverty, and the successful implementation of this vision in her local church and the potential for the impact the church can have on the world in establishing Gods Kingdom.

3. JAMES GOLL: BATTLE PLAN FOR OVERCOMERS

In this message of truth, James Goll clearly explains that all true spiritual warfare is positioned against the Son of God in your life. We are all called to be in the Army of the Lord, and General James Goll gives invaluable warfare strategies and points on how to overcome. It is the enemys tactic for the believer to be deceived to think that opposition means you are doing something wrong, but take note! Bounce back boy, James Goll shares from his own personal life experiences that demonic opposition means you may just be doing something right! You will be able to apply what James teaches concerning overcoming spiritual warfare in every area of your life!

4. CINDY JACOBS: REBUILDING THE TABERNACLE OF DAVID

Cindy Jacobs has a dream. And this dream is of the rebuilding of the tabernacle of David. In this message, prophetic and intercessory general Cindy Jacobs discusses an important key to releasing souls, wealth, social justice, and reformation in the end times. It is the key of David and the restoration of his tabernacle. Cindy discusses how 24/7 worship and prayer should be established in communities all over the nations, “so that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord.”

5. ROBERT STEARNS: WATCHMEN ON THE WALL

Heavens clarion call is beckoning NOW for watchmen to stand on the wall for the nation of Israel. As an ambassador of the Kingdom of God, it is the heart passion and assignment of Robert Stearns to make the Body of Christ aware of this urgent matter. There is no coincidence that Jerusalem is mentioned in the Bible 700 times. And in this message Robert gives clarity on our role as saints of righteous acts, to see Gods heart for Jerusalem accomplished upon the earth today. We are coming into a season of divine acceleration and, It is time for us to be willing to be answers to our very own prayers, discusses Robert Stearns. He continues on to share that, this is a battle for sound. The consequences of losing this battle may be much higher than you realized.

6. JAMES GOLL: SIGNS OF THE THIRD GREAT AWAKENING

In this powerful message James Goll shares a riveting and prophetic dream that included David Yonggi Cho and the coming great spiritual awakening. It is a message of hope and a celebration of the God of the NOW, as the Body of Christ stands on the brink of societal transformation and reformation, where ordinary people will be empowered to do extraordinary acts. James also teaches on the differences between revival, renewal, outpouring, and awakening.

Me says: November 14, 2010 at 6:39 am

Are you walking in miracles, healings, and signs and wonders. If you are, are they real, or do you pretend? If someone says they feel better after praying, do you boast that God healed them and then convince yourself that’s all you need? I have seen tens of thousands of claimed healings, and only a handful of ones that may have been legitimate. This includes Lakeland. When people talk about signs and wonders now it makes me feel ill, because I know they pass off every little thing as something supernatural. Todd Bentley is one of the best examples. Even after the Lakeland experience, he’s claiming an angel was on stage with him in Reno because there is a blur in a picture that was taken. I take pictures as a hobby, and I get that kind of blur all the time. It’s nothing supernatural, but to that crowd, it’s a sign and wonder and they use that to justify that God is with them. Any average person sees that and stays away, believing that all that Christian stuff must be all fake if they really believe a blur on a photograph is an angel.

Also, if all the signs and wonders stuff, and intimacy, glory, anointing, etc. is supposed to change us and make us more like Jesus… how come it doesn’t? It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize that the people preaching this the loudest, are the most dishonest, and have the most to hide. You can say I’m judging people, and that people make mistakes, yada yada yada, I’ve heard all that. The fact remains that the lives of those who most follow this are not any better than those who don’t. They still get sick, they still die of cancer. Their marriages fall apart. They struggle with alcohol. They commit adultery.

So, is the gospel message simply that some weird cooky things will happen, you will get to fulfill all your lusts, but God will forgive you anyway? Didn’t Jesus come to give us life more abundantly? Where’s that fruit in people’s lives, cause I’m not seeing it?

IHOP AND MIKE BICKLE

AG

IHOP(International House of Prayer) Pastor’s MIKE BICKLE and LOU ENGLE breed a DANGEROUS gospel out of Kansas City, Missouri. Have you heard of the “Fire Conference”? Or singer MISTY EDWARDS? Lou Engle is the founder of “The Call”. “Open Portals”, “Holy Laughter”, “Spiritual Drunkenness” “Gold dust”, and many crazy manifestations. WAKE UP CHURCH! Watch this video all the way through and you will be sick inside. But this is necessary. Do you want to see this in real action? Scroll into 18 minutes. But really…from the beginning, it’s demonic. Really demonic

NOTE: Mike Bickle and his cohorts claim to receive prophetic revelation and supernatural messages of discernment practically on demand. Unless they are all liars, surely the Holy Spirit gave them some kind of warning that this was going on under their noses. In reality they are idiots who talk about the Lord told me this and that but some how He doesn’t talk to them about important things like Suzzane Hinn was going to divorce Benny, which caught him totally off guard!

Love and Death In the House of Prayer

Tyler Deaton, a self-appointed apostle in one of the fastest-growing evangelical movements, loved Jesus, Harry Potter and, much to his dismay, other men. When his wife turned up dead, the secrets began to spill out

by Jeff Tietz

JANUARY 21, 2014

On October 30th, 2012, at 9:40 p.m., sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a dead body at Longview Lake Picnic Shelter No. 12, in Kansas City, Missouri. A tan Ford Windstar van occupied the far-northwest space of the parking lot. In the van’s back seat, deputies found the body of a young woman. A white plastic trash bag had been pulled over her head and tied under her chin. She wore running shoes, black sweatpants, a light-blue fleece and a diamond wedding ring. A pair of eyeglasses had been folded and placed in a cup holder.

A handwritten note on the center console acknowledged the evil of suicide and alluded to a terrible choice made long before. Also on the console were two hundred-count bottles of acetaminophen PM, one unopened, the other empty. A photo ID for “Bethany (RN, Menorah Medical Center)” lay on the floorboard. Bethany Deaton was 27 and had recently completed her nursing degree. Her supervisor would later describe her as an excellent, empathetic nurse. On the front seat were several CDs produced by the International House of Prayer, a charismatic Christian movement based in Kansas City and the nearby suburb of Grandview. The adherents of IHOP, as it is generally known, believe that the Second Coming will soon occur and that God needs their help to return Christ to Earth.

Bethany had moved to Grandview nearly four years earlier, after graduating from Southwestern University, a small liberal-arts school in Georgetown, Texas. She had belonged to an IHOP worship group there, and most of the prayer circle’s 20 or so members had relocated to Grandview, where they lived in two gender-segregated houses about four miles apart. In August, Bethany had married the worship group’s leader, Tyler Deaton. It wasn’t clear to people outside the group what would have motivated Bethany to take her own life. For years, she had longed to marry Tyler, and they had envisioned themselves enduring the Tribulation together. But the Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Bethany’s death a suicide, and her body was released to her family for burial in her hometown of Arlington, Texas.

Sex and Death on the Road to Nirvana

Then, on November 9th, a friend of Bethany’s named Micah Moore walked into the Grandview Police Department. “I killed her,” he said. He had done so, he claimed, on Tyler’s orders. Over the past few months, Moore told a detective, Bethany had been dosed with the anti-psychotic Seroquel, and he and several men in the house had been sexually assaulting her. They had begun to worry that she might tell someone about it. Under questioning by detectives, two of the men in the house, and one who had recently moved out, revealed that they were in ongoing “sexual relationship[s]” with Tyler. At least one of these relationships was “long-term.” A fourth said that Tyler had “groomed” him to be part of their sexual group. The men said that Tyler was their “spiritual leader.” He was “manipulative” and exercised “control over the members of the household.” He characterized the sexual activity as a “religious experience.”

Two weeks later, Moore’s lawyer recanted on his behalf. Outside the Jackson County Courthouse, she declared his confession “bizarre,” “fictional,” made by “a distraught and confused young man.”

The Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office dismissed the recantation and charged Moore with first-degree murder. The judge granted him bail. He will be tried this fall. Tyler cooperated with investigators and has not been charged with a crime. He declined to comment for this story.

In the days following Moore’s confession, a parent of one of the worship-group members told a reporter that it was impossible to imagine the events leading to Bethany’s death. “How did they fall down that slippery slope?” the parent asked. “How, in just a few years, does all this come to pass?”

God commanded Tyler Deaton to form a worship group on July 20th, 2007, while he was standing outside a Barnes & Noble, waiting for the midnight release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Tall, handsome, haughty and effeminate, he was about to begin his junior year at Southwestern University. Deaton was taken with fantasy sagas that counterpoised the demonic and angelic – The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lord of the Rings – but he particularly revered the Harry Potter series, which he called “the greatest story ever written.” Although he had been raised in a devout Presbyterian family and remained strongly committed to Christ, he had “willfully practiced magic in junior high,” according to a college friend named Boze Herrington, and he occasionally found himself using a “mysterious power to control others in ways that were unexplainable.” (The names of all group members other than those already mentioned have been omitted or changed to preserve anonymity.) Seemingly intractable homosexual impulses also vexed his faith. He often felt a sense, he later told a friend, of worthlessness. “I just know that, sociologically, there’s a connection between this power-obsessed, dark-magician, evil-dictator thing, and altered sexuality,” Deaton told friends.

Deaton was determined to overcome those forces, though. His confidence, monolithic and exclusionary, tended to divide the world into allies and adversaries. He had been a champion debater in high school, and he brought a tirelessness to religious debate at Southwestern. He considered his positions plainly factual and listeners who rejected them ignorant. The caption accompanying his senior portrait from Calallen High School in Corpus Christi, Texas, read, “Be intolerant, because some things are just stupid.”

During the summer of 2007, Deaton had traveled to Pakistan as a missionary, where he had a number of “supernatural” experiences. A boy with one leg, he told friends, had miraculously acquired another. During a visit to a children’s home, he had heard the words “The leader of this place is committing sexual sin with young boys.” Deaton informed the trip’s leaders, and learned that two boys had been caught performing sexual acts with each other. They and the home’s leader were removed.

Since his return, Deaton had been wondering how to access the supernatural in America. The answer came outside the Barnes & Noble. “What you just did in Pakistan,” God told him, “you are going to do at Southwestern.” The names of three friends “erupted” from Deaton’s mouth: “June,” “Justin” and “Bethany Leidlein.” In Deaton’s vision, their collective worship would “shift the spiritual atmosphere” on campus and catalyze a revival. Angels would descend and demons would flee, and Christians across the university would rush to join the group. Even nonbelievers would succumb. The “spirit of intellectualism” that held so many in bondage would be dispelled for good.

Like Deaton, June, Justin and Bethany were observant Christians, enthralled by fantasy fiction and devoted to Harry Potter. The group members began comparing themselves to the four Pevensie children in The Chronicles of Narnia, who enter a universe mastered by evil, win renown as soldiers in the army of a resurrected Messiah and finally assume their places as kings and queens of a renewed world. They spent many hours discussing the Harry Potter books and films, which they approached with “a religious devotion,” according to Herrington, whom they briefly resisted admitting to the group, because it would have broken the symmetry. The works “fueled our sense of being on a divine mission,” says Herrington. “One of their chief attractions was a sense of belonging to a secret club with exclusive access to knowledge and power. That was the root of our whole ideology.”

The magic at the heart of the books would always inform his understanding of his own divine power. “In the years I was with him, things were constantly happening that I had to shrug away as being ‘the work of the Holy Spirit,'” says Herrington. “Tyler would raise his voice and say, ‘Jesus!’ and the neighbor’s music would immediately stop. He would tell the birds to fly away and they would fly away. He would place curses on my appliances so they wouldn’t work.”

Bethany was small, fair, blue-eyed, reserved without being remote and from the outset wholly committed to Deaton’s mission. In some ways, she made an unlikely follower. A natural intellectual who graduated magna cum laude, she’d read every Charles Dickens novel but one by the time she was 13, and was a talented writer herself, the pride of Southwestern’s writing center. She started keeping a blog at the end of 2003, and produced some 200 pages of pointed, wry, sometimes lyric prose. In one post, she described a classmate as a “devastatingly sober playwright.” “Oh, liberal arts,” she wrote in the summer of 2006. “It’s training me to be a splendid gentleman farmer.” One evening, she stayed in the writing center after everyone else had left, “trying to cup the moment in my hands,” she wrote. “I must often consciously uncrease my forehead, unfurrow my eyebrows and walk a bit more slowly, remembering that tomorrow will take care of itself.”

Bethany took care of other people instinctively. “She had a quiet energy that flowed through the group,” a classmate recalls. “Her life was one of the most luminous and promising I’ve known,” Herrington says.

She could also be lavishly, almost immoderately romantic. She imagined herself as a novelist and professor at a small university, living in a cottage in the woods. “The dream of her heart was to be married,” Herrington recalls. “We used to stay up late talking about it, night after night. She had been praying for her husband since she was a teenager. She had written him letters, before they even met.” She found herself “fiercely attracted” to Deaton and was convinced that God had ordained their union. She was aware of his struggles with homosexuality but believed that God would use her to heal his heart.

In December 2007, at the urging of a cousin, Tyler Deaton attended an IHOP conference in Kansas City. He wrote his fellow group members right afterward: “Friends . . . I kid you not . . . when I say that I feel God has transformed me more in that short period of time than I have been so far in my life. . . . I have one word attached to one phrase that God has violently poured into my heart. It is . . . echoing in the heavens right this instant, and I mean that literally. . . . That word, that phrase . . . is this: REVIVAL through prayer and worship. Friends, I freaking cannot wait to talk to you in person.”

At IHOP’s frequent, frenetic conferences, attendees learn that they are “in the early days of the generation in which Jesus returns,” as IHOP founder Mike Bickle puts it. “I believe that people alive on the Earth today will actually see the Lord with their own eyes,” he has preached. But Jesus has no clear return path. Demons, he says, have steadily taken possession of Christian hearts and infiltrated earthly institutions.

In 1983, Bickle says, God instructed him to “establish 24-hour prayer in the spirit of the tabernacle of David.” The tabernacle was the tent erected by King David to house the Ark of the Covenant after the conquest of Jerusalem; it became a dwelling place of God and a site of ecstatic worship. To resurrect this spirit of worship, Bickle would build IHOP’s first prayer room, a storefront hall next to the Higher Grounds cafe and Forerunner Bookstore in an IHOP-owned strip mall in South Kansas City. Bickle believes that unceasing, euphoric worship and song at IHOP and in prayer rooms across the globe, which should never close or be empty, will promote passionate intimacy with the Lord, revive the church and demolish demonic strongholds. And so IHOPers pray all day and night, through blizzards and blackouts, in hours-long sessions of mesmeric, musical worship, repeating the same phrases over and over, expecting to precipitate the Great Tribulation and the final battle between good and evil that precedes the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

This is IHOP’s most alluring tenet: God needs IHOPers to effect the Tribulation and bring Christ back to Earth. “The church causes the Great Tribulation,” Bickle has preached. Before founding IHOP, he argued that “God intends us to be like gods. God has conceived in his heart of a plan to make a race of men that would live like gods on Earth.” Bickle sometimes affects to know God as he would a peer. “I heard what I call the internal audible voice of the Lord,” he has said. He claims that he visited heaven one night at 2:16 a.m., and the Lord charged him with preparing for an End Times ministry and seated him in a golden chariot that lifted off into the empyrean. At IHOP, where prophetic experiences are endemic, the mortal and divine commingle liberally.

The vanguard of God’s End Times army, according to Bickle, will be made up of young people, or “forerunners,” seers specially attuned to the will of the Lord, “the best of all the generations that have ever been seen on the face of the Earth.” For seven years of Tribulation, they will battle the Antichrist. When Christ returns, he will slaughter by sword in a single day the unsaved, and his warriors will rule heaven and Earth forevermore.

IHOP is not the only charismatic movement in America to adopt this theology of aggressive prayer. A constellation of ministries shares its vision. Together, they make up what has been called the New Apostolic Reformation, a decades-old rebellion against traditional Christianity that counts millions of adherents worldwide; it has become such a force in evangelical America that Texas Gov. Rick Perry hosted an NAR prayer rally in Houston for his 2012 presidential campaign. As prayer rooms are established in ever more locations, according to NAR, the “seven mountains of culture” – government, business, family, educational systems, the media, arts and religion – will fall under its influence.

Within a month of Deaton’s return from Kansas City, everyone in the group had become a “hardcore IHOPer,” Herrington says. They consumed IHOP books, music and teachings, and road-tripped to NAR conferences. They soaked themselves in IHOP theology until, in Herrington’s words, “it became an integral part of who we were.”

The work that most enduringly shaped Deaton’s thinking might have been The Final Quest, an account of the End Times by NAR leader Rick Joyner, whose celestial travels and pretensions to divinity resemble those of Bickle. Joyner claims to have written The Final Quest in a “trance” state, akin to that of the Apostle John. Joyner describes his book as “a call to all who will go on to the most noble adventure of the age” – the final showdown between good and evil. The Final Quest is ludicrous self-hagiography that casts Joyner as a hero of Armageddon, “one of the saints fighting the last battle.”

“Something in Tyler made him particularly volatile when exposed to those teachings,” one group member says. Less than three weeks after he read The Final Quest, Deaton told his worship group that he had been divinely ordered to “train God’s final army.” Deaton had arrogated to himself, in Joyner’s conception, prodigious supernatural power, highest-level divine revelation and the authority to call down God’s judgment upon those who opposed him. The history of the group would play out against a backdrop of Final Quest imagery.

Years later, when Herrington tried to reread The Final Quest, he started shaking, ran to the bathroom and puked. He doesn’t think it’s possible to underestimate the influence of the book or of NAR’s latter-day apostles on Deaton. “In some ways, Tyler was as much a victim as anyone else,” Herrington says. “These apostles destroyed him. I think they drove him mad.”

Shortly before deaton traveled to Kansas City, Bethany encouraged Micah Moore to join the worship group. The two had met in an English class during the fall of 2007. “They hit it off like gangbusters,” a mutual friend says. Bethany had always “nourished her friends, and Micah had ‘Lost Soul in Need of Nourishment’ written all over him.”

Earlier in the semester, Moore had dropped acid, and the trip had unbalanced him: He hallucinated legions of angels and demons fighting over his soul, according to a friend. Herrington says Moore was “questioning the nature of reality: ‘Am I real? How do I know this isn’t all an illusion?'” Moore told one friend that only radical personal change could save him.

Moore was a patient listener, eminently suggestible. A former friend remembers him as “a thoughtful and melancholic young man, going around tugging at his beard and thinking inwardly about things.” Other acquaintances have described him as a “space cadet” and so pleasant it was “almost weird, but not in a creepy way.” He was an avid guitarist and often played with other musicians on campus. One former classmate thought that he “was looking for magic in life.”

The group became a sanctuary for Moore, who often came under “attack” from demons; some members defended him with prayers. “With a community of believers around me, I’m not vulnerable,” he told a friend. Moore became as zealous as anyone in the group. He often spoke of the fallen world. “God is so pure and we are so sinful that the only way we can ever go near him is because of Jesus. Without Jesus, God can’t even look at us.”

“I felt a little shiver of apprehension,” she later recalled. “This wasn’t a God I had ever heard of.”

Moore put his faith in Deaton completely. “He has a special gift,” Moore would say. When Deaton laid hands on him, Moore felt “a special grace.”

Many prospective members were drawn by this quality of Deaton’s. “What we all wanted was an authentic walk with God, and what we saw in Tyler was a kind of vibrancy and conviction, an extreme devotion,” one ex-member says. “It was hard not to think, ‘What if he is walking with the Lord?'”

At IHOP, it is understood that God has endowed leaders like Bickle with prophetic gifts. But IHOP theology constrains those leaders from imposing limits on the power of their followers. Their insights are no more falsifiable than the leadership’s own. “If you were to go up to Mike Bickle and say, ‘I feel God’s anointed me an End Times apostle,’ he’d say, ‘Praise God and bless you!'” says a former group member.

When Deaton announced that he had been chosen to train God’s final army, thus elevating himself to the spiritual plane of IHOP’s senior leadership, no one seriously challenged him. Nearly everyone in the group, according to former members, believed he was an End Times apostle. By the spring of 2008, when the group had grown to about 20, it was assumed that Deaton heard God with unsurpassed clarity and that he had been sent on a spiritual-martial mission that would refashion all existence.

But God spoke to Deaton so often, and about matters so minor, that it sometimes seemed as if the Lord were micromanaging the group. Once, when they were eating at a Panda Express, Deaton sensed a soul-endangering “spot of darkness” on their side of the restaurant, and said they should switch tables. He forbade Herrington from making a late-night fast-food run with two friends because they had “spirits of delusion resting on them.”

By the fall of 2008, as Deaton was beginning his final semester, his followers were seeing End Times signs and omens everywhere: in a billboard’s exhortation, a clutch of turkey vultures over campus, a stray phrase stuck in someone’s head, a small bird in a hawk’s talons. Visions came easily; people were “eating prophecies for breakfast,” according to a former member. Angels informed the group that fire would rain down on Southwestern and rip the “masks” off unbelievers. Herrington had once dreamed that a flood razed the school and transformed the land into a dwelling place of bizarre marine mammals; the dream now seemed prescient. Forecasts of obliteration occasioned hope, not sadness. Deaton told friends over lunch that death was a sign of weakness and sin, an application of justice. No believer should fear it: A good Christian would not die before his work was done.

One July day in 1988, Mike Bickle was sitting in his office, reading a wedding card inscribed with a verse from the Song of Solomon. “Jesus, seal my heart with your seal of love,” Bickle spontaneously prayed. Unaccountably, he began to weep. The phone rang. A prophet had heard the “audible voice of the Lord” for Bickle: The Song of Solomon, a dialogue between King Solomon and his beloved, should become a focus of Bickle’s ministry. It eventually came to Bickle that true believers must see Jesus “through the eyes of a bride with loyal, devoted love” – they must “feel loved and in love” with Christ. Without this intimacy in worship, Christ would not return to Earth.

But the Song of Solomon is a paean to sexual desire. “Let the king bring me into his chambers” and “kiss me with the kisses of his mouth,” the beloved says. “His fruit” is “sweet to my taste.” IHOP’s website states that one of its prayer guides, Bridal Intercession, “presents prayer as the joyful and romantic communion between the lover and his beloved. . . . Readers will find themselves . . . eager to encounter this lovely Lord who is their bridegroom.”

Many critics, observing that IHOP recruits post-pubescent youth, have wondered where, if they are to approach their Lord as Solomon’s beloved approaches Solomon, their imaginations are supposed to go. “[Jesus] is not coming until the people of God are crying out globally in intercession with a bridal identity,” Bickle has preached. If the Second Coming depends upon “romantic communion” with Christ, and the alternative is satanic hegemony, then any error in worship should be made on the side of erotic intimacy – to lust and repent is surely better than abandoning Jesus in his hour of need.

Bickle makes a point of warning his followers that bridal theology is not sexual. To IHOP’s detractors, though, the introduction of any suggestion of sensuality into worship invites transgression. Aggravating the libidinal diciness, they argue, is the nature of that worship. IHOPers spend 20, 30 or more hours every week in the prayer room, often for three or four hours at a time.

Across the IHOP complex, in cafeterias, hallways and the prayer room, music composed to enhance the ecstatic experience is “omnipresent,” according to an ex-member. Among the lyrics to two popular songs: “God is a lover looking for a lover/So he fashioned me” and “Do you understand what you do to me? . . . How you ravish my heart with just one glance?” Some former IHOPers have talked of being addicted to it – they become nervous and irritable when they turn it off. Another IHOPer has written about addiction to the sedative atmosphere of the prayer room itself: “A common refrain around anxious, discouraged IHOPers is, ‘I just gotta get to the prayer room.'”

“Very quickly, there were sensual escapades with God,” a former intern says, meaning that some people’s private imaginings turned explicit after exposure to IHOP’s “bridegroom” Christ. She says that an instructor told her, “God is using his word to kiss you.” The intern heard stories of IHOPers fantasizing about having “orgies with Jesus” and “sex with God.”

At Southwestern, Deaton often played IHOP music when he presided over worship, and the members referred to Christ as “the bridegroom” and to themselves as his “brides.” For most, the worship experience was spiritual, not sensual, but Deaton and at least one other person were “really into the bridegroom stuff,” according to an ex-member. Deaton pressed people to enter a prayerful state and “cuddle with Jesus,” says an ex-member.

But anything beyond holding hands was judged to be iniquitous. “Marriage prophecies” determined dating partners. According to members, such prophecies were explicitly discouraged by IHOP, but they cropped up in the group not long after IHOP theology sank in. Suddenly, everyone had a prophecy or was the object of one. The recipient would conceal it from its object while sharing it with Deaton and several others, who would pray on it. Deaton seldom matched people romantically interested in one another. It was more often to the unsuited that hesaid, “God told me that you two are destined for marriage.”

The practice created a “horrendous atmosphere,” says one former member. Deaton involved himself in nearly every relationship. He might find two people he’d matched spiritually unready, and break them up. “You are idolizing your future spouse and putting him before God,” he might say. Sometimes people were ordered to avoid one another completely. Flirtation might be punished by a ban on all contact with the opposite sex for a week or more.

Deaton himself did not date, which was taken as a sign of his commitment to God. “He’s so focused on the Lord, dating only distracts him,” people said. Deaton involuntarily exerted a strong attraction on many of the women in the group. Most liked him at some point, and when he became aware of their feelings, he tended to treat them coldly. As the group grew, maxing out at about 25, knowledge of his homosexuality remained in his inner circle.

Bethany had one of the first marriage prophecies; its object was Deaton. He was not happy. “It’ll never happen,” he told a friend, although he was unwilling to denounce it outright. He seemed to have fallen for one of the original group members, Justin, several former members say. You could tell by how Deaton looked at him, one acquaintance said, and “in photos, it jumped out at you.”

“Bethany cried almost every day” that summer, Herrington says. Unable to get past her feelings for Deaton and still devoted to his mission, she nonetheless returned to Southwestern in the fall of 2008, according to Herrington, “determined not to be weighed down by it.” It might take God longer to heal Deaton than she had hoped, and she began thinking about attending nursing school after graduation, instead of following Deaton to IHOP.

In platonic relationships, Deaton urged prolonged, affectionate contact, particularly among men, because, he said, they had been wrongly socialized to resist it. They should hug, cuddle, give one another massages. If you were uncomfortable with loving touch, you had “a wall in your heart” and were “only experiencing part of God’s love.” “You can’t function as a Christian that way,” he said. This disconcerted many of the men, but they accepted that spiritual growth might entail discomfort. Deaton might encourage two guys to cuddle on the floor while the rest “dog piled” on top of them, in the words of an ex-member. These were innocent activities for most of the men. Deaton, though, according to Herrington, “spent hours cuddling with Justin on the futon in their dorm.” Justin, who was not gay, eventually became uncomfortable with Deaton’s affections.

Meanwhile, Deaton took to ministering other gay Christian men, at least one of whom became a group member. Deaton described his own sexual orientation as a “hurt in my heart.” One day, he said, two black triangles appeared on his palms. They were “demonic signatures,” indicators of homosexuality, visible only to him. In November 2007, the group members spent several hours praying over him. During the intercession, the black triangles disappeared, Deaton said, and he dared to hope that this was “proof of deliverance.”

Problematically for Deaton, the social world he had fashioned normalized his own desires while repressing everyone else’s. In chapel, Jesus was a “ravishing” bridegroom, a perfect male form; under Deaton’s supervision, heterosexual relationships had become unworkable, unmoored from romantic desire and skirted by Deaton himself with a justification of piety; and he had bound together godliness and homoeroticism. One former group member, thinking about the events of the past fall and the manner of Bethany’s death, recently said, “I just don’t get it. Why couldn’t Tyler be gay? Why couldn’t he just go find a guy and be happy?”

Deaton always felt that his authority would be released to his followers after he left Southwestern, and as his final semester progressed, group members grew more confrontational with classmates, speaking openly of the Tribulation’s proximity and their exclusive knowledge of the “Spirit of God.” One day, Micah Moore biked around school, yelling, “‘I am making war on this campus!’ and roaring like a lion,” in Herrington’s words.

Deaton himself seemed to grow more intolerant. On the way home from a trip to Panda Express, at the end of November, Herrington vehemently contradicted Deaton, and he became so angry he asked to be let out of the car. The driver turned to Herrington. Deaton was the “apostle of Southwestern,” she said, “and you need to do whatever he tells you!” After group members participated in an irreverent campus skit, Deaton told them that they had blasphemed God before nonbelievers and thereby given Satan a “greater foothold on campus.” He ordered them to the chapel. Fifteen or 20 people arrayed themselves in a row near the altar to pray and repent; several were crying.

One day, Deaton played Bethany a song from High School Musical 3 called “I Want It All”: “Imagine having everything we ever dreamed – don’t you want it?” A few weeks later, according to Herrington, “she sat him down and very forcefully explained her feelings. He claimed he was overwhelmed by the radiant purity of her love and his prophetic discernment was unable to find anything worrying or unholy about it. His heart was opened by her tenderness.” Bethany began to lean toward IHOP.

In November, Moore reported that God had talked to him while he was praying in the shower: A tragedy would soon befall Southwestern. Only true believers who stood on a “firm foundation” would remain at peace. A few days after Moore described this vision to the group, four other members shared confirming visions or insights. “It sounds like someone is going to die,” one member said. Herrington predicted that the tragedy would occur on December 4th or 5th.

On December 3rd, a series of “spectacular omens” culminated in the appearance of an immense dark cloud over Highway 29, which borders the Southwestern campus. The group convened in Deaton’s room. “There was a deep feeling shared by everyone present that God was about to descend on Southwestern in glory and judgment and . . . destroy these things that were against him,” Herrington says.

The next day, a student named Rob Atkinson was crossing the stretch of Highway 29 earlier darkened by the premonitory cloud when he was hit by a car and killed. Atkinson had been a vocal supporter of interfaith dialogues, which Deaton considered harbingers of the Antichrist. “We were convinced that God had come down in wrath, and that our prayers had led to this student’s death,” Herrington later wrote to a friend. Several others concurred.

The worship-group members believed they had blood on their hands, and it exalted them. “We talked about Rob in a tone of gleeful triumphalism,” Herrington says. Other ex-members ruefully agree. In Atkinson’s death, according to Herrington, Deaton detected a “blueprint” for the future: After studying at IHOP, he would assemble an apostolic team, travel to Egypt and establish a ministry. God’s wrath, unleashed by the prayers of his team, would destroy all unholy things, just as it had destroyed Atkinson. Members of the worship group began hearing from God: Their mission in life was to follow Deaton.

In early 2009, Deaton and Bethany moved to Grandview, Missouri, to begin IHOP’s six-month “One Thing” internship program, devised by the leadership for “a generation who, in loving obedience, will abandon themselves to Jesus,” and thus become “equip[ped] spiritually” for “a life of prayer.”

Over the next two years, most of the other group members would graduate and join Deaton and Bethany in Grandview. (Moore, a couple of years younger than Deaton and Bethany, would not arrive until the summer of 2011.) From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Deaton and Bethany absorbed biblical analysis and theology, and from 6 p.m. until midnight, they worshipped in the prayer room.

It wasn’t long before Deaton had a transformative revelation. Up until then, he had seen his homosexuality as simply the way he was wired, but in a moment of divine insight, it came to him that being gay was a choice he had made, whether consciously or not. He later described this moment, and the interior anguish preceding it, in an essay titled “Good News in Why Homosexuality Is a Sin: An Answer That Makes It Conquerable and Non-Unique”: “Oh, I can tell you [God’s abhorrence] is so painful to the homosexual that struggles because this is what homosexuals feel – ‘Why is my love condemned? . . . Just because God says no without giving any explanation, why? This is so cruel, so senseless, so unfair. I can’t even imagine liking heterosexuality; it’s disgusting, even though I want to be like that so badly, but how can I change? What’s even wrong with this, God?'”

The “hopelessness” and “self-pity” in those lines was “sinful in and of itself,” Deaton wrote. But the church offered little help beyond the blunt reminder that homosexuality is “not in line with God’s established natural order.” “When I heard someone callously say, ‘Why don’t they just not be gay?’ rage would course through my being at the ignorance and insensitivity to the struggle that homosexuals try to endure, the intensity with which they always try to not be gay at least at first,” he continued. Ten years of fruitlessly praying for intervention had made him bitter and hurt and had ultimately removed hope from “deep regions of my heart.”

But then came the revelation. It was 2 a.m. He was “wrestling with God. . . . I felt like some lesser creature, a half-man, a half-human. . . .” For reasons having largely to do with childhood trauma, he explained, he had always sought self-worth in other men, and he saw now that this seeking was classically idolatrous. In Romans 1:25–27, he noted, Paul identifies idolatry as the cause of homosexuality: “They worshipped and served [created things] rather than the Creator . . . [and] for this reason . . . men were consumed with passion for one another.” For the first time, he repented of the idolatry driving his desires. “The joy that surged through me on that night and in the immediate days [afterward] is difficult to explain,” he wrote.

A few weeks later, Deaton was sitting in the prayer room, watching Bethany worship. A “giant vat of affection,” as he later described it, rushed over him. “I was experiencing real, passionate, sexual, knock-me-off-my-feet, pure and glorious attractions for the most beautiful woman alive,” Deaton wrote in the essay. When they completed their internships, Deaton asked her out. In the summer of 2009, he took her for a walk and announced that he intended to pursue her “unto marriage.”

“It’s hard to overstate the exhilaration she felt,” Herrington says. “By the time she left Southwestern, her one dream was to be married to Tyler. Tyler was going to be cured, they were going to get married and have a son named Samuel.”

Later that summer, more group members moved to Grandview, and the men and women settled into their respective houses. Whatever passions Deaton’s epiphany might have released, his relationship with Bethany appeared staged to some members of the group. They went on a date every Tuesday between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m., and spent Friday evenings baking bread together. Anything more, Deaton said, would mean subordinating the needs of the group to their own needs. He discouraged Bethany from physical displays of affection. They would not kiss until their engagement, two and a half years later. About a year after they began formally dating, Deaton convened the core group members for a “leader’s conference.” They took turns describing their visions of the future. When it was Bethany’s turn, she got “really scared,” Herrington says. She turned to Deaton and said, “Sometimes all I want to do is live in a house with you, and a baby, and maybe some chickens!” Deaton called her “selfish” and told her to stop elevating her own desires over those of the “community.” “You need to put away your personal longings and connect with the goals of this movement,” he said.

“I’m sorry for being selfish and idolizing Tyler,” she said.

Tyler Deaton’s sway only increased in the sphere of IHOP. “His hand could be felt in everything,” a former member says. “Even if he didn’t directly say to do something, his influence was in almost every aspect of our lives.” Deaton was a canny delegator, and he or his appointees drew up meal charts and worship schedules and assigned chores and roommates. If he perceived parents to be thwarting “God’s will for their children,” he urged his followers to reduce contact with them. Many cut their families off completely for periods of time. In early 2010, Deaton told the members of the inner circle that God wanted him to quit working as a part-time math tutor and devote himself completely to his ministry. They would need to pool their meager earnings to support him.

In college, they had looked ahead to careers in law, art, medicine, literature, finance, education. Some had started applying to grad school. But the Great Tribulation was impinging on the present, and Deaton’s End Times mission trivialized everything else. To support themselves and Deaton, group members delivered pizzas and sold makeup and paint. Exceptionally, Bethany entered an accelerated nursing program in 2011, but she and everyone else spent much of their time in the prayer room, worshipping at home with Deaton, or studying the Bible and IHOP doctrine, gazes fixed on the next world. “They became shells of themselves,” says a member of the Southwestern group who did not make the move. “Once you went to Kansas City, you didn’t leave,” says another.

Once a week, the men and women held “accountability” meetings in their respective houses, reviewing the dynamics within the group and searching out sin. When men shared feelings of desire toward the women, Deaton might embarrass them by unilaterally informing the women. Even as Deaton strategically strained relationships, he condemned noncommunal activities as “un-relational.” “If we noticed a lack of heterosexual love occurring within the group, that was ‘OK’ because, Tyler reminded us, Jesus said people ‘neither marry nor are married in heaven,'” a former member recalls.

In the fall of 2010, Deaton ordered Herrington shunned for eight months. Among his stated misdeeds: judgmentalism, self-isolation via creativity, and unwillingness to reform himself. Herrington had been one of the group’s most obdurate skeptics, and after Deaton’s revelation about his sexuality, he had acidly suggested to Deaton that he “might not be as cured of homosexuality as he thought he was.” Herrington was not asked to move out; instead, members simply stopped interacting with him.

Word of the shunning reached IHOP’s leaders in May 2011. They had not known of Deaton’s grip over the residents of the two houses, and they were not pleased. (In a statement, IHOP has said that “Mr. Deaton led his religious group entirely independently” from the organization.) Over the summer, a leader spoke with Deaton, and Herrington was officially welcomed back. The first ritual of his reinstatement, after roughly eight months of phantasmal existence in his own home, was a celebratory dinner at the women’s house. One by one, each member stepped forward and hugged him. June, dressed in a long orange gown, presented him with a blue robe and sash. After dinner, a few people performed scenes from A Midsummer Night’s Dream. At the end of the evening, Deaton asked him how he felt about the celebration. “It was very well orchestrated,” Herrington said.

“Boze, some day you’re going to realize what an incredible thing was just done for you,” Deaton said.

That summer, Deaton began preparing the group for the End Times. They stockpiled a month’s supply of food in the women’s house and met twice a week with a guy who was reputedly a former soldier to practice dodging imaginary bullets, wrestling weapons from enemy soldiers and executing combat rolls by leaping from playground slide platforms and monkey bars. The training would pay off when the Antichrist upended existence. Deaton also told them that if they made it to the Middle East first, they would be able to fend off Muslim extremists.

Toward the end of the summer, in anticipation of Moore’s arrival, Deaton changed the room assignments in the men’s house. According to Herrington, a group member named Evan, whom Deaton had promised to liberate from a homosexual lifestyle, would room with Moore. Justin would share Deaton’s basement room, which Deaton had assigned himself because of its privacy and potential to double as a “ministry room.” “Tyler was full of paradigms that summer,” Herrington says. Healthy heterosexual intimacy, Deaton posited, depended on prior comfort with same-sex intimacy. Rooming with Justin would allow him to “experience what it’s like to be intimate with a guy in preparation for being intimate with Bethany.”

Another member later told detectives that after he’d arrived in Grandview, Deaton had slipped into his room while he was in bed, laid down beside him and held him. He said that he later realized Deaton was priming him for sexual intimacy. One morning that summer, as the group was getting ready to go on a hiking trip, Herrington says he asked Deaton why he looked so tired. Deaton confided that he’d only gotten 20 minutes of sleep the night before because he’d had an extended “therapy session” with Evan. They had engaged in a kind of spiritual “wrestling” – “lying together in Tyler’s bed all night in a largely undressed state,” in Herrington’s words – that resulted in “massive healing” for Evan and a “massive breakthrough in his masculinity.” Deaton’s relationship with Bethany remained as it was: a weekly three-hour school-night date and bread baking on Fridays.

Micah Moore’s route to Grandview was circuitous. At the end of 2008, after seeming to fortell, and then will, the death of Rob Atkinson, Moore was home for Christmas break when he had a “massive freakout,” screaming that demons were attached to his head. Moore’s mother apparently blamed her son’s collapse on the worship group’s demonology. Moore didn’t return to school that spring, transferring to the University of Texas.

One afternoon at the end of Moore’s junior year, Deaton called. “Are you really happy? Are you really satisfied?” he asked.

“Tyler touched that place in Micah that longed for something deeper than just playing music and moving through a succession of girlfriends,” says Herrington. “Micah wanted to do something important, and Tyler intuitively understood that.” Moore decided to return to Southwestern for his senior year. Deaton and several other group members drove down from IHOP to welcome him back. He had appointed Moore one of the leaders of the worship group before his breakdown, and now reinstated him. Deaton insisted that the group receive Moore lovingly. “I think Micah really felt indebted to him for that,” a friend says.

A year later, when Moore moved into the men’s house in Grandview, “things got crazy,” says Herrington. The Holy Spirit continually overpowered the worshippers, knocking them down and inspiriting tongues. Moore was on his knees, yelling and experiencing head convulsions, and he “shook all the time,” says Herrington. One night during worship, the Spirit descended with unusual strength. Everyone was “screaming and rolling around and writhing like the demons in Pandemonium,” he says. After the worship, Deaton informed Herrington that his “immunity to the movement of the Holy Spirit” evidenced a hardened heart. Deaton had readmitted Herrington to the group partly to pacify IHOP authorities, according to an ex-member; now that Deaton suspected regression, he could no longer afford to operate within IHOP strictures.

There followed, Herrington says, a series of “bizarre punishments and psychological mind games,” what Deaton called “behavior modification.” First, they renamed him “Bobby” and confiscated his glasses. They outlawed the sweaters and dress slacks he usually wore; his outfits were “un-relational,” Deaton told him. He took Herrington to Old Navy and American Eagle Outfitters, where Deaton picked out his new wardrobe: khakis, polos, cargo shorts, short-sleeve buttondown shirts.

Soon afterward, Deaton assembled the group and told Herrington to go sit on the front steps. According to another group member, Deaton shared what God had revealed to him: Herrington was an inveterate lech with a cross-dressing fetish; he had been stealing June’s clothes. Someone came outside and told him to remove his unauthorized sweater, a symbol of unwholesome self-isolation.

Herrington was now made to eat his meals on the floor and was rarely allowed to speak. Deaton created the “Bobby discipline team,” which consisted of Moore and three other men. “Bobby has abused me so much, I just can’t deal with it anymore,” Deaton said. “It’s time y’all found out what this feels like.”

Herrington’s jailers escorted him nearly everywhere, preventing all interactions. Herrington often stayed in his room during worship night. On two occasions, he says, a woman stood up and testified that an attacking spirit was drawing near. After praying together, the group agreed that Herrington was sending demons against them. One night, a woman prophesied that God was going to punish “those who have hurt you.” For the first time, Herrington later thought, the group must have been calling on God to destroy one of its own. Four months later, he was formally excommunicated.

Bethany Leidlein and Tyler Deaton were married in August 2012. During the procession, Deaton sang “Come to Me, My Beloved.” They held a worship service at the altar. Bethany seemed “resolved” and “serene,” in the words of a friend. Some in attendance, though, were uneasy, spooked by Deaton’s evident power over her. Several of Bethany’s old friends felt a “deep sense” that they were bidding her a final goodbye.

Deaton and Bethany spent most of their three-week honeymoon in Costa Rica. Deaton had mischievously kept the destination from Bethany until they were on their way to the airport. That may have been the final romantic flourish of the relationship. In an e-mail to one of her roommates, Bethany described a difficult situation. “It makes me scared to get married,” her roommate told the other women in the house. In a statement to detectives, one of Deaton’s roommates said Deaton “confided” to the other men that he was “frustrated after his recent marriage [because] he couldn’t get an erection.”

Some of Bethany’s roommates in the women’s house noticed a change in her as soon as she got back from her honeymoon. She was “confused” and “uneasy.” She’d moved into Deaton’s basement room in the men’s house, but within two weeks began spending one or more nights a week at the women’s house. Sometimes she stayed several nights in a row. “I just need a little space,” she’d say, or, “I just feel too controlled.” But she wouldn’t elaborate. No one had ever seen her so listless and depressed. She could not be consoled.

Deaton, and therefore the group, considered Bethany’s distress to be her own problem. She was exhibiting inappropriate “resistance” to her new husband. She was restless at night, a former roommate says, which bruised his prophetic sensibility and cost him sleep. Since Bethany couldn’t bring herself to blame him, she instead blamed some amorphous sinfulness in herself. Worried that she might be inclined toward repression and avoidance, Deaton instructed her to meet with Moore in the mornings so that Moore could ensure she was facing her problems.

During this time, according to the statements Deaton’s roommates made to detectives, Deaton was pursuing “sexual relationships” with three of the men in the group. Moore recently told someone close to him that he too had been sexually involved with Deaton. “It was a skillfully orchestrated system of debauchery that shattered the wills of the boys under Tyler’s care and crushed their spirits,” says Herrington.

As the weeks passed, it seemed to one of Bethany’s former roommates in the women’s house that she was “running from the men’s house, and then shrinking back.” When her mood did not change, Deaton announced that he had done all he could to show her that God loved her, and now the group should try to defuse her self-criticism by ignoring it. He “came across as very logical, thoughtful and biblically grounded,” according to a former member, but his edict left Bethany profoundly isolated.

According to Moore’s confession, the drugging and sexual assaults began not long after Bethany returned from Costa Rica. Moore did not implicate Deaton in the assaults, but if they did happen, multiple ex-group members say, they could not have occurred without his blessing. By then, Deaton could blast anything, no matter how grotesque, with transfiguring grace, and it would appear holy. Certain details in the confession suggest that the men may have understood the assaults described to be religious acts: Moore said the men used his iPad to film and write poems about them.

Moore stated that before he killed Bethany, she had been given a bottle of Seroquellaced water. At Longview Lake, he said he pulled a white plastic trash bag over her head and held it in place until her body shook. The statement of probable cause noted that the bag appeared to be “inhaled into the mouth of the deceased.” Moore said he then informed Deaton of the crime.

Soon after Bethany died, the group members assembled at the women’s house. Moore led a service. He was “laughing and looking happy, as he always did when he was leading worship and playing guitar,” a former member says. He seemed “relieved.”

“Stay upbeat and press into the Lord, because this community is bigger than one person,” Deaton told the group. When Herrington heard about this, he thought of an evening soon after Bethany and Deaton finished their IHOP internships. The group went to see the premiere of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, in which a beloved, deeply good character dies. “God spoke to me during the end of the movie and said, ‘This is how it’s going to be when you lose someone,'” Deaton said afterward. “‘You can’t just hold on to them, you have to keep moving.'”

Three days after Bethany’s body was discovered, one of the men in the house told detectives, Deaton told him about a disturbing dream. He said he had dreamed of suffocating Bethany to death.

Right away, some of Bethany’s friends and family members thought her suicide note was fabricated. Its defeatism was antithetical to her spirit, and it was ineptly composed. “Someone who wrote so beautifully couldn’t have written something that inarticulate,” one friend said.

“My name is Bethany Deaton,” the note read. “I chose this evil thing. I did it because I wouldn’t be a real person and what is the point of living if it is too late for that? I wish I had chosen differently a long time ago. I knew it all and refused to listen. Maybe Jesus will still save me.”

Many of the former group members believe Moore’s confession and dismiss his recantation: The confession was spontaneous, made days after her death was ruled a suicide, and it precisely captured the dynamic between Deaton and Moore. After Deaton instructed him to kill Bethany, Moore said, Deaton added that he knew he had it in him to do it.

“That’s exactly what Tyler says when he wants you to do something really big,” says one former member. “He said that to me – he said that to everyone at some point.”

Surprisingly, some members express little anger at Moore, buDeaton’s freedom seems to appall everyone. When another ex-member heard that Bethany’s death might not have been a suicide, she says that “my first thought was, ‘Tyler did it.’ He is one of the few people I’ve ever met who genuinely frightened me. He just didn’t care. He saw people as people only insofar as he could control them.”

Within weeks of Moore’s confession, the group disintegrated. Both rental houses sat empty. Parents had driven to Grandview to collect their kids or bought them plane tickets home. The women, who had known nothing about the activities in the men’s house, were in deep shock. Many members have fallen out of touch with each other. Some have returned to the professional ambitions they put aside when they followed Deaton to Grandview.

In the year since Bethany’s death, Tyler Deaton has kept a low profile and not spoken publicly. “Even today, he admits to nothing and shows no true remorse,” a former member says. He apparently still believes in the righteousness of the worship group and has repeatedly tried to contact former followers. He e-mailed a woman he’d condemned, hoping to renew a friendship; he told another, whose wife he’d declared a reprobate, that he wished things could just go back to “normal”; and he e-mailed Herrington to say that things were not what they seemed, and he hoped they could be friends again.

Last February, Deaton successfully applied to teach pre-calculus at a high school south of Dallas. He apparently threw himself into the job. According to one parent, all the kids liked him. Then a few of his students Googled him and learned about the events in Grandview. He was placed on leave. Several former group members believe that he is now living in Corpus Christi with his family.

Bethany’s family held a memorial service for her a week after she died, at a funeral home on a hillside overlooking Longview Lake. Her body had been found across the water. Some of the group members were clearly grieving, but some seemed unaffected. They stood and offered remembrances with a merry serenity. “There was a weird feeling that something was wrong, that something was just off, and it all goes back to the fact that Tyler wasn’t moved at all,” one says.

“As some of you know already, I am a man who is in love with ideas, with crazy paradigms!” he said when he stood to speak, and laughed. “And when they brought me Bethany’s body, at first I cried. But then I laughed, because I said to her, ‘Bethany, if you could see you, you would not like the way you look right now!’

“And last night, we had worship time together, very briefly, as a group, and it was wonderful and it just showed me the Lord’s supremacy over this wretched thing that is death,” he said. “And I thought to myself, ‘What a crazy paradigm!’ ” He paused. “And then I thought, ‘Bethany would love my paradigm, because she loved me and was so fiercely supportive, and believed me hundreds of times when I thought I was crazy or heretical.'”

He paused again, for an uncomfortably long time. Bethany loved to spend time in the water, Deaton said. She loved small animals, like birds and squirrels. He sat down.

Watching Deaton and his followers, Herrington tried to imagine how they conceived of Bethany’s death. “They had somehow evaded the brokenness that should have accompanied such a devastating event,” he wrote in his journal the next day. “They were still chosen, still special, still invulnerable to the arbitrary whims of mortality. They’d gone so deep into the Great Tribulation, reality no longer had the power to harm them.”

This story is from the January 30th, 2014 issue of Rolling Stone.

Hi Walter:
Every time people cannot tell the difference between the genuine work of the Holy Spirit and the work of the devil and evil spirits/demons as demonstrated in this long description of the so called “IHOP ministry, there is confusion and death.  Paul said, “Do you not know that if  you yield  yourselves to any one as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sink, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? (Rom. 6: 16)”.  “For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation and bring no regret, but worldly grief produces death” (2 Cor. 7: 10).   Here again is the result which God spoke about, “And her prophets have daubed for them with whitewash, seeing false visions and divining lies to them, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord God,’ when the Lord has not spoken” (Ez. 22: 28).

Jeremiah 5: 31, explains this kind of false religion, “An appalling and horrible thing has happened in the land: the prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule at their direction; my people love to have it so, but what will you do when the end comes.”  “For God is not a God of confusion but of peace” (1 Cor. 14: 33).  The whole explanation is filled with confusion.  And, above all, they do not follow the instructions that Paul tells us are necessary (1 Cor. 14: 26 f.) with the result that contrary to Paul’s instruction that“all things should be done decently and in order” (1 Cor. 14: 4) is not happening.  They are in complete disorder and out of God’s will.  Again Matt. 22: 29 is demonstrated in this IHOP  religion ”You are wrong because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God.”  A “holding the form of religion, lacking the power thereof.  Avoid such people” (2Tim. 3: 5).

Editor’s Note: 2013 was a big year in the church—and in the world. This week we’re looking at some of the biggest stories of the year, selected based on feedback from our readers. Thanks for reading Charisma News this year and stay tuned as we continue expanding our coverage in 2014 to include more spiritual insights on the stories that matter most to you.

The most powerful, significant and liberating message ever given to the human race is the gospel of grace. The Christian life is established on the foundation of this wonderful truth, which emphasizes what Christ did for us on the cross and what the Holy Spirit does in us in our daily life. Paul’s dramatic declaration that we have become new creations in Christ has vast implications for our lives: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away … all things have become new … that we [our spirit] might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Cor. 5:17-21).

The “he” that is a new creation is our spirit man. We possess the very righteousness of God in our spirit (v. 21). This describes our new legal position in Christ—how God sees and relates to us. In Christ, all things have become new pertaining to our spirit. This includes being fully accepted by God, receiving the authority to use the name of Jesus and possessing the indwelling Holy Spirit—all of which enable us to resist sin, sickness and Satan; to walk in victory; and to release the works of God through prayer. The old things that passed away under this legal shift include no longer being under the penalty of sin nor being dominated by the power of sin.

So what’s the problem if we’ve been given such freedom as new creations? Unfortunately, man’s natural tendency to distort truth gets in the way. And when it comes to a truth as fundamental and crucial as grace, that distortion has far-reaching implications. In short, it can become the central crisis of an entire generation.

The Crisis of Our Time

The apostle Jude confronted the great spiritual crisis of his day when he exhorted believers to contend earnestly for the “faith” or for the message of grace originally delivered to them through the first apostles. In Jude 3-4, he writes: “I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. For certain men have crept in unnoticed … ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness.”

Think about this: Within one generation after Jesus’ resurrection, it was already necessary to contend for the true grace message. That’s how key this battle over the true grace message is and always has been since Jesus’ definitive work on the cross.

Jude warned of certain men who crept into the fellowship of the church unnoticed—that is, their error went unnoticed by most of the leaders and the people. These men turned the message of grace into a message of lewdness or one that affirmed various compromises, even sexual immorality. These men with persuasive teaching abilities twisted what the Bible said about grace, thus empowering many to confidently continue in sinful activities without feeling any urgency to repent.

Undoubtedly, these teachers of error appeared outwardly to live godly, but in their private lives they refused to repent of various lusts. Instead, they justified their ungodly habits by distorting the message of grace to accommodate their lifestyles.

The result was devastating, as many in the church concluded that it was acceptable for them also to live with similar compromises because these popular teachers were justifying this sort of lifestyle with various Bible verses. In reality, they took these verses out of context of the broader New Testament message, which called believers to live in wholehearted love for Jesus as evidenced by seeking to live in obedience to Him (John 14:15, 21).

The same is true with hyper-grace teachers today. They choose to emphasize only God’s love and forgiveness while practically ignoring Jesus’ call for His people to walk in wholehearted commitment to the Lord. They preach mostly on forgiveness without repentance and on receiving God’s blessing on their circumstances without any conditions. The truth is, it’s glorious that we are freely forgiven by Jesus and that He blesses our circumstances; but these truths are in context to seeking to live in a real relationship with Him and in agreement with His leadership and Word.

Jude’s exhortation is a significant warning for the body of Christ today. When the grace message is distorted, everything else in one’s spiritual life becomes blurred. In fact, there is no spiritual battle more significant in the church today than contending to keep the grace message faithful to Scripture.

Sadly, some believers aren’t even aware of this spiritual crisis regarding a diluted grace message. They must wake up to the emergency at hand—because today, as we contend for the spirit of truth, we are fighting for the very soul of a generation.

It’s easier in today’s world for teachers to creep in unnoticed, as Jude said, because of television and the Internet. Some contemporary teachers distorting the message of grace come from high-profile ministries whose very popularity gives them a false sense of credibility. We must not receive a ministry because it’s attractive and popular; we should only receive it if it’s faithful to the truth.

Paul prophesied of a time when many who profess loyalty to Jesus would fall to unsound doctrine: “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables” (2 Tim. 4:3-4).

These people aren’t willing to embrace the challenges of a lifestyle of obedience to Jesus as emphasized by the sound teaching in the New Testament. Instead, they have “itching ears” to hear messages that affirm their sinful desires. They want to feel comfortable in their relationship with God, even as they continue to boldly walk out their sinful lusts.

By isolating Bible verses about God’s blessing and forgiveness from the larger context of the New Testament’s call to love Jesus with obedience, they affirm the lustful desires of their hearers. One famous TV preacher went so far to say that there is no longer a need for a believer to repent because Jesus’ work on the cross did that for them. He obviously overlooked the fact that Jesus repeatedly called born-again believers to repent for yielding to various compromises (see Rev. 2:5, 16, 21-22; 3:3, 19).

Grace: The Power to Love and Obey Jesus

If countless sincere believers have already succumbed to the rising tide of this distorted grace message, how can we stand strong through the crisis? It starts by remaining grounded in biblical truth. We must approach the biblical grace message through the lens of God calling us to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength (Mark 12:30).

The Lord wants us to love Him in a wholehearted way because that’s how He loves us—with all of His heart, mind and strength. This mutual relationship of wholehearted love between a believer and the Lord is foundational to the kingdom. In fact, this is the very way that the Father loves the Son—with all of His heart. The Son loves the Father and the Spirit loves the Father and Son in this way too. Oh, the glorious mystery of one God in three persons who delight in Their relationship of wholehearted love for each other (see John 3:35; 5:20; 14:31; 15:9; 17:23, 26)! God’s plan from the foundation of the earth was to redeem people so that they could participate in this loving fellowship that the three persons of the Trinity enjoy.

The core reality of the grace message is to empower us to walk with God in a relationship of wholehearted love. Jesus called this “the first commandment” (Mark 12:30). Thus, the Holy Spirit’s first agenda is to establish the first commandment in first place in the church. This must also be our first agenda. Wholehearted love is to be “first” in our response to God because it is how the Father relates to the Son and how the Godhead relates to us. We must see grace through the lens of this quality of love. To think of grace without it being anchored in the first commandment is to be aiming at the wrong target. Thus, we distort the grace message when we do not interpret it through the lens of the first commandment. We must love Jesus on His terms, and He defined loving God in terms of a spirit of obedience to His commandments (see John 14:15, 21, 23).

There’s no such thing as loving Jesus without seeking to obey His Word. Some seek to love God on the terms of a humanistic culture that has no reference to obeying the Word. But loving and seeking to obey Jesus are synonymous. All of His commands are based in His love. Thus, the biblical message of grace teaches us to live righteously and to deny ungodliness as the way of expressing our love to God. Titus 2:11-12 says, “The grace of God … has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly.”

If you hear a teaching on grace that doesn’t call you to deny ungodliness, it’s not a biblical grace message—it’s a distorted one.

Legal Position vs. Living Condition

As we correctly view the grace message through the lens of the first commandment, we can also begin to understand the difference between our legal position before God and our ongoing living condition as a response to what Jesus has done. Not only is there a key difference between these two, it’s often the element that hyper-grace adherents conveniently overlook.

Our legal position is what Jesus accomplished for us on the cross, while our living condition is what Jesus requires of us in our response to Him. In our legal position, we stand before God by possessing His righteousness (2 Cor. 5:21). Our legal standing before God is so glorious that it will never be improved upon—not even with the perfection of a resurrected body—because we received Christ’s very own righteousness. Our legal position relates to receiving His righteousness instantly on the day that we are born again.

Our living condition, on the other hand, relates to growing in righteousness progressively as our mind is renewed, causing our behavior and emotions to be transformed by the Holy Spirit in us.

The gospel is the good news about receiving God’s righteousness and can be seen in three tenses:

Justification: our legal position—past tense, focused on our spirit

Sanctification: our living condition—present tense, focused on our soul

Glorification: our eternal exaltation—future tense, focused on our body

One-third of our salvation is complete (the salvation of our spirit), but the other two parts are not yet complete in our experience (the salvation of our soul and body). All believers have received the fullness of grace in their spirit (legal position), and yet they can still live far below it in their daily experience (living condition).

Much misunderstanding about grace can be traced to misunderstanding the distinctions of these truths. Many confuse what Jesus did for us in our legal position with what He requires of us in our response to Him in our living condition.

Jesus’ finished work on the cross makes His grace fully available to us as a gift. However, our regular interaction with the Spirit causes us to experience the transforming power of this grace in our daily life. James wrote about this when he urged believers to walk in a greater measure of grace because God “gives grace to the humble” (James 4:6).

James wrote this to born-again believers, calling them to receive more grace. A believer already has the gift of righteousness and therefore can’t receive “more grace” in his or her legal position. However, each of us can receive “more grace” in our living condition—and this is what James was referring to. We can always experience more of God’s grace to transform and renew our mind and emotions (see Rom. 12:2).

Grace in the Eight Beatitudes

If we hope to experience more of this transforming grace on a daily basis, then we must follow the words of the greatest teacher on grace who ever walked the earth: Jesus. The Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 5-7) is His most comprehensive statement about a believer’s role in cooperating with God’s grace. In this teaching, Jesus defined loving God in context to the eight beatitudes (5:3-10), offering us a rich understanding of how to walk out biblical grace in our daily lives.

One aspect of this is Jesus’ exhortation to us to hunger for more of God’s righteousness (v. 6). Here, Jesus affirmed the need to press into God for a greater release of righteousness in our daily lives—our living condition. Keep in mind that He wasn’t calling us to receive more of the gift of righteousness, since we already fully possess this in our legal position. Our hunger for righteousness doesn’t cause us to deserve grace—nothing can do that—but hunger positions us to receive more of the outworking of righteousness in our character.

Some believers don’t hunger to grow in righteousness in their daily life. Rather, they seek to know how far they can go in sin and how little they need to talk with Jesus to keep their salvation intact.

Imagine a couple in their wedding ceremony who have just completed their vows. While walking down the aisle for the first time as “one,” the man whispers to his new bride, “How far can I go with other women before we get divorced? And how much do I have to talk to you each week?” Adding insult to injury, he then says, “By the way, we just signed a marriage license that legalized our marriage—so now I have legal rights to all that you possess.”

Of course, the new bride would be heartbroken to hear that her husband didn’t love her with all of his heart but was instead establishing their marriage on a faulty foundation—and focusing almost entirely on the bare-minimum “requirements” and legal ramifications involved.

Some teach about grace in a way that parallels the lack of wholeheartedness portrayed in this analogy. It’s a version of grace more concerned with what it takes to “meet the requirements” on paper than to engage in the authentic, loving relationship for which it was originally intended. Sadly, this error is bound to occur whenever people separate the grace message from the first commandment.

How to Receive God’s Grace

Grace was never intended to be abused, but as our current church crisis proves, it can be. God gives us the freedom to choose relationship and obedience to His Word—and thus benefit from the true liberty found in grace. Yet this is also why Paul urged the believers in Corinth “not to receive the grace of God in vain” (2 Cor. 6:1).

The gospel of grace is distorted in two main ways: first, by presenting God’s love as something we can earn; second, by refusing to call people to respond in wholeheartedness to God. The fruit of the biblical grace message is confidence in the gift of God’s love combined with a spirit of obedience. If either of these two elements is missing, then it isn’t the true message. Thus, receiving God’s grace in vain is to receive it in such a way that it doesn’t produce confidence in God’s love nor the resolve to respond wholeheartedly to Jesus’ leadership. Either distortion is disastrous for our spiritual life.

Like Jude in the first century, we must earnestly contend for the truth about grace. The very soul of the youth in our nation hangs in the balance.

The good news, however, is this: The Holy Spirit is highlighting this spiritual crisis and is committed to the recovery of the biblical grace message. We can be confident that He will release His power to establish the first commandment in first place in the church before Jesus returns for His fully prepared Bride (see Rev. 19:7). Let’s come alongside Him, rather than opposing Him, when it comes to receiving, understanding and walking in grace.

MIKE BICKLES IHOP IS A CULT

Darren,

What really breaks my heart is the young people (18-30) who start out on fire for God and get really caught up in all this stuff. In 1999 I was asked by some friends of mine to go with them to Kansas City and help with the setup of the “internship program” and be on Staff. At that time I was “older” then most of the kids, had been in ministry and was considered an example of a Godly intercessor.

I lasted about 4 months, but I was stranded in Kansas City for 2 and a half years. I lasted 4 months because I asked too many questions. These kids were (still are as far as I know) being told that they were “prayer missionaries”. They were expected to work for the ministry 40 hours a week, pray in IHOP 40 hours a week AND attend Grace Bible college and do all the homework required. They were also told they had to raise their own support and they told they could not work outside the ministry.

I was also present in an orientation meeting when the “newbies” were told that it would be better for them to have no contact with old friends or family as they were being trained in a “new way of thinking” outsiders (exact word) would not understand.

When I questioned these and many other practices, first I the people around me stopped talking to me. A week later I was called into a meeting and told “we are not sure you fit in with us here”. I was then told not to come to the prayer house or talk to the interns. 2 things I continued to do until the day I left Kansas City!!

I was sharing a flat in a complex where almost everyone renting there was part of IHOP. Mz flat mates were the directors of the internship program. The flat was directly across the street from where the prayer house was then.

The people I was sharing a flat with were told to take my keys and throw me out. Fortunately, the lease was in my name and when they tried to do that I contacted the Landlord and called the police. I think they were a little shocked that I did not just bow down. After 2 weeks of wrangling where I was forceably locked in my room, physically threatened, coerced and all 4 of my car tires slashed and my car vandalized the complex manager gave me an flat rent free for 3 months. I found a job and was able to start paying rent the second month.

After I started working I started getting threatening phone calls at home and at work. I had made the mistake of calling my former flat mates about something from work, so they gave my work number all around. The calls were traced back to IHOPs offices at Metro Church and charges of stalking and harrassing phone calls were brought. That stopped the phone calls, but it did not stop some of the leaders from sitting or standing outside my building door and shouting and screaming at me if they saw me. One “worship leader” from IHOP even threw water on me from his balcony 2 floors above in same building.

Now I suppose you wonder why I stayed. Well, first of all I did not have the money to leave. I spent all my money getting there, getting set up, buying a car, etc. The other reason was the kids. Almost every week another poor kid would show up who had spent all their money to get there, on fire for God, wanting to “DO SOMETHING FOR GOD” and the first time they spoke out or asked a question or spoke their mind they were told they did not fit and were thrown out. Since they had cut all ties with home after they got their they did not know what to do. Usually I found them tired, exhausted and fed up sitting in a local coffee shop or McDonalds down the street. There was always the old trick of the “IHOP” leadership” telling flat mates they could just chuck their things out and demand their keys. I was usually the one who told them that was not true and I made lots of enemies at IHOP for telling these kids the truth. A couple of them had no idea what they could do and were sleeping on the streets. There are hard cold realities for those who do not fit in at IHOP. I spent hours counseling these “kids” (usually 18-25) and helping them reconnect with their families and get home.

Since leaving IHOP and ministering in other parts of the world with my husband, I have come across other poor souls who have fallen into the IHOP trap and had to be rescued by friends and family.

I still consider myself a prayer warrior and I have seen God do some amazing things. I do not want to cheapen the real thing by focusing on the false teachings and ideas that are out there, but I think the truth needs to be told.

NOw ask me about the Kansas City (Smithton)revival… ;=)

Blessings,

Ann

Smith/Kansas City Revival

Oh dear so much has been said about the Smith/Kansas City revival. There were whole websites dedicated to its abuse and heresies. So I think I will do it like this.

THINGS I LEARNED FROM THE SMITHTON REVIVAL

1. If you see a good show somewhere else, there is no reason you can not recreate it in your church. Steve Gray said “I went to Brownsville and I can DO that too”.

2. No one is indespensible. It does not matter if its your mother, father, brother, sister, sister-in-law or even your children. If they get in the way of the show, they gotta go.

3. A handpicked audience is always better. Steve and Kathy made sure only the most gullible, agreeable, easily manipulated were in the front for the world to see.

4. If your 2 year old can not stand in the same spot with their hands in the air for 3 to 4 hours of worshiping God then beat them until they learn to submit. This was actually in the “Revival Handbook” until it was turned over to Childrens Protective Services. I saw this first hand in the ladies bathroom where the little demons were brought to be beaten before going back to “worship”. I personally reported 2 parents to child services.

5. Never let people know where the money really goes. this was always true of the Grays. The truth is the money always went to them, not the ministry because THEY WERE THE MINISTRY. that is why they could leave Smithton, sell the building, run away and never look back (see Smithton Revival: Revival’s Relocation Pits Pastor Against Alienated Followers http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2001/october1/14.18.html)

6. If they wont give you money, dont give them anything either. We were in a tent for 2 years. In the winter in the freezing cold and in the summer in the blazing heat. Steve figured that it would help people give more to build a building quicker. When they did build a building it was much different then what was promised and much less was spent then what was actually raised for the building.

7. Make promises you know you will not keep. This was always happening. If people had a problem, a promise was made to fix it on the spot, but it never happened. You know of course that you can not really questions “Gods Elect” so they could never be called liars.

Oh my there is so much I learned at World Revival Church. This should do for a start 🙂

Ann

IT’S MY OPINION

THE PROBLEM IS BOTH HYPER-GRACE PREACHERS AND THIRD WAVE PREACHERS HAVE NO INTEGRITY AND ARE OFF THE WALL. THEY ARE NOT FULL OF FAITH, POWER AND THE HOLY SPIRIT BUT ARE FULL OF THEMSELVES!

While it true some believers don’t hunger to grow in righteousness in their daily life. Rather, they seek to know how far they can go in sin and how little they need to talk with Jesus to keep their salvation intact. It is also true that these so called believers are not really Christians but deceived ones otherwise the would live and walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh and operate in all the gifts of the Spirit.

Unfortunately it’s a sad fact that most Christian leaders don’t operate in all the gifts of the Spirit and are not full of faith, power and the Holy Spirit like Stephen the layman was:

Acts 6:
5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude. And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch,

8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people

A FRESH MOVE OF GOD

 BA

Isaiah 30:18  Therefore the LORD will wait, that He may be gracious to you; And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the LORD is a God of justice; Blessed are all those who wait for Him.19   For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem; You shall weep no more. He will be very gracious to you at the sound of your cry; When He hears it, He will answer you.

Isaiah 49:13  Sing, O heavens! Be joyful, O earth! And break out in singing, O mountains! For the LORD has comforted His people, And will have mercy on His afflicted.

“THE FRESH MOVE OF THE OUTPOURING OF THE FRESH ANOINTING UPON THE CHURCH IN THIS END TIME”

GOD IS ABOUT TO RELEASE A POWERFUL SPIRITUAL FORCE WITHIN THE BODY OF CHRIST IN THIS END TIME AS IT WAS IN THE DAYS OF THE APOSTLE ON THE THE DAY OF PENTECOST IN THE UPPER ROOM,LIKE A MIGHTY RUSHING WIND WITH A CLOVEN TONGUE OF FIRE, WHICH WILL BRING ABOUT THE GREATEST MANIFESTATION OF THE POWER OF GOD THAT THE WORLD HAS NEVER SEEN . Isaiah:43:18-19:Do not [earnestly] remember the former things; neither consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs forth; do you not perceive {and} know it {and} will you not give heed to it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

Haggai:2:7-9:And I will shake all nations and the desire {and} the precious things of all nations shall come in, and I will fill this house with splendor, says the Lord of hosts. The silver is Mine and the gold is Mine, says the Lord of hosts. The latter glory of this house [with its successor, to which Jesus came] shall be greater than the former, says the Lord of hosts; and in this place will I give peace {and} prosperity, says the Lord of hosts.

Isaiah:48:5-7:Therefore I have declared things to come to you from of old; before they came to pass I announced them to you, so that you could not say, My idol has done them, and my graven image and my molten image have commanded them. You have heard [these things foretold], now you see this fulfillment. And will you not bear witness to it? I show you specified new things from this time forth, even hidden things [kept in reserve] which you have not known. They are created now [called into being by the prophetic word], and not long ago; and before today you have never heard of them, lest you should say, Behold, I knew them!

AS IT WAS PROPHESY BY PROPHET JOEL IN THE DAYS OF OLD:Acts:2:16 But [instead] this is [the beginning of] what was spoken through the prophet Joel: And it shall come to pass in the last days, God declares, that I will pour out of My Spirit upon all mankind, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy [telling forth the divine counsels] and your young men shall see visions (divinely granted appearances), and your old men shall dream [divinely suggested] dreams.

THIS IS THE SEASON OF OUTPOURING OF INCREDIBLE FRAGRANCE OF GOD MERCY FAVOUR GRACE, THE SUPER ABUNDANCE OF DIVINE ENABLEMENT, AND EMPOWERMENT TO DO WHAT CAN’T BE DONE IN THE NATURAL BY ANY MANKIND. Zechariah:4:6-7:Then he said to me, This [addition of the bowl to the candlestick, causing it to yield a ceaseless supply of oil from the olive trees] is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit [of Whom the oil is a symbol], says the Lord of hosts. For who are you, O great mountain [of human obstacles]? Before Zerubbabel [who with Joshua had led the return of the exiles from Babylon and was undertaking the rebuilding of the temple, before him] you shall become a plain [a mere molehill]! And he shall bring forth the finishing gable stone [of the new temple] with loud shoutings of the people, crying, Grace, grace to it!

WE ARE IN CLIMAX OF THE AGES TO UNIFIED ALL THINGS AND CONSUMMATE BOTH THINGS IN HEAVEN AND ON EARTH ACCORDING TO THE DIVINE PURPOSE OF GOD. Isaiah:42:9 Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them. 46:9 [Earnestly] remember the former things, [which I did] of old; for I am God, and there is no one else; I am God, and there is none like Me,Declaring the end {and} the result from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure {and} purpose.

A SEASON OF DIVINE PERFECTION ACCORDING TO THE PREDETERMINED PREDESTINED AND FOREORDAINED PURPOSE OF GOD. Isaiah:14:27 For the Lord of hosts has purposed, and who can annul it? And His hand is stretched out, and who can turn it back?13:19 I tell you this now before it occurs, so that when it does take place you may be persuaded {and} believe that I am He [Who I say I am–the Christ, the Anointed One, the Messiah].

IT’S TIME FOR THE WORLD TO SEE THE LIGHT AND THE GLORY OF GOD MANIFESTING THROUGH HIS CHURCH AS NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE. THE CHURCH IS ARISING AND PROCLAIMING IN THE MIGHTY NAME OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST THAT HE IS THE LORD OF ALL lords AND THE KING OF ALL kings. Luke:12:2-3:Nothing is [so closely] covered up that it will not be revealed, or hidden that it will not be known. Whatever you have spoken in the darkness shall be heard {and} listened to in the light, and what you have whispered in [people’s] ears and behind closed doors will be proclaimed upon the housetops.

CHRIST IS THE SAVIOUR AND THE REDEEMER OF THIS BANKRUPT WORLD. ISAIAH:9:6-7:For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father [of Eternity], Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from the [latter] time forth, even forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

THIS IS THE SEASON OF AN UNPRECEDENTED GLORY OF GOD BEEN MADE MANIFESTED, AND SEEING THE OVERFLOW OF THE GLORY OF GOD, SEEING THE MANIFESTATION OF REAFFIRMATION AND REVIVAL OF THE HARVESTING OF SOULS IN THOUSANDS OF THOUSANDS FROM THE KINGDOM OF DARKNESS TO THE MARVELLOUS LIGHT KINGDOM OF THE GLORIOUS OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST BY THE HELP OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. ISLAM A RELIGION OF PEACE! – HOGWASH

MOISLAM THE RELIGION OF DEATH

The hypocrisy of a religion that rapes innocent women, murders children, consistently lies and deceives, and yet calls people to prayer should be repugnant to any sensible soul. All this talk of Islam being a peace loving religion is one big fat lie! It is a hateful and murderous religion.

We cannot play with death. Death is not a fictional television series. It is not a popular gaming topic. It is the entryway into either eternal life or eternal death. And a culture that treats it lightly is playing with fire and rushing headlong into a big black abyss.

Islam denounces Jesus Christ’s deity. They denounce Christianity. They denounce Judaism. In their eyes all non-Muslims are infidels and deserve death. They are haters of all that is good. They despise life and liberty.

We are told again and again by ‘experts’ and ‘talking heads’ that Islam is the religion of peace and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace. Although this unqualified assertion may be true, it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the spectre of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam.

The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history. It is the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting wars worldwide. It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave. It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honour-kill. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals. It is the fanatics who teach their young to kill and to become suicide bombers.

The hard, quantifiable fact is that the peaceful majority, the ‘silent majority,’ is cowed and extraneous. Communist Russia was comprised of Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of about 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant. China’s huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people..

The average Japanese individual prior to World War II was not a warmongering sadist. Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across South East Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians; most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet. And who can forget Rwanda , which collapsed into butchery. Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were ‘peace loving’?

History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason, we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points: peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence. Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don’t speak up, because like my friend from Germany , they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics own them, and the end of their world will have begun.

Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Serbs, Afghans, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late.

Now Islamic prayers have been introduced into Toronto and other public schools in Ontario , and, yes, in Ottawa too while the Lord’s Prayer was removed (due to being so offensive?) The Islamic way may be peaceful for the time being in our country until the fanatics move in

In Australia , and indeed in many countries around the world, many of the most commonly consumed food items have the halal emblem on them. Just look at the back of some of the most popular chocolate bars, and at other food items in your local supermarket. Food on aircraft have the halal emblem (see the attachment), just to appease the privileged minority who are now rapidly expanding within the nation’s shores.

In the U.K, the Muslim communities refuse to integrate and there are now dozens of “no-go” zones within major cities across the country that the police force dare not intrude upon. Sharia law prevails there, because the Muslim community in those areas refuse to acknowledge British law.

As for us who watch it all unfold, we must pay attention to the only group that counts — the fanatics who threaten our way of life.

JEZEBEL

Jezebel
Hi Walter:

I am always amazed how people can miss the real points of the Scripture.  Jennifer LeClaire has missed the whole point of Jezebel or should I say of both Jezebel.  There is no spirit of Jezebel at all.  Both women were worshippers of Baal the ancient old spirit who challenged the only true God Yahweh and continues to do so today because Jesus is the “image of the invisible God” (Col. 1: 15).  Jesus’ Hebrew Name means “Yahweh is salvation”.  All Old Testament references quoted in the New Testament gives us Jesus’ Hebrew Name as “Yahweh”. I’ll just give you one example which occurred on the Day of Pentecost when Peter said, “And it shall be that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Acts 2: 21) which is a quotation from Joel 2: 32 which says, “Whoever calls on the name of Yahweh will be delivered (saved).   The problem here is not the so-called “spirit of Jezebel” but “the spirit of Baal”.   Baal worship has continued to go on ever since he was first mentioned in Numbers 22: 41 and in the times of the Judges he was worshipped in “the high places” (Judg. 2: 13; 6: 28 – 32).  Before Israel, he was worshipped by the Egyptians and was a well know deity.  Baal worship almost replaced the worship of Yahweh in Israel.  The struggle between the two religions came to a head on Mount Carmel when the  prophet Elijah confronted the 450 prophets of Baal plus 400 prophets of the groves on Mount Carmel (1 Kings 15: 31, 32, ; 18: 17 – 40) to determine who would be the God of Israel.  Although it was a temporary defeat of Baal, with the killing of 850 false prophets the cult continue to grow until it was suppressed by Jehu (2 Kings 10: 18- 28).  However, Baal has never stopped pretending to be the real God and is continued to be worshipped today.

In the New Testament, Jesus recognized the hand of Baal in the affairs of Israel when He said, “If they call the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household” (Matt. 10: 24; 12: 24, 24).  Beelzebul  means “Lord of the land”.  The Jews changed the name to Beelzebub which means “lord of the flies”.  Jesus was accused by people, “He is possessed by Beelzebul, and by the prince of demons he casts out the demons.  And he (Jesus) called them to him, and said to them in  parables, ‘How can Satan  cast out Satan?”  (Mk. 3: 22 – 23).   Beelzebul is a variation of the name Baal.  Baal is just another name for Satan/Devil.   So, the kingdom of darkness has a Prince who rules over it (Matt. 9: 34).

And so, Jesus is identifying Baal as Satan.  Satan/devil uses many pseudonyms as he attracts people with the ultimate temptation which is to believe that he is “god” or at least “a god”.  This was the third temptation that the devil used on Jesus when he was questioning Him.  Remember, in this final confrontation with the devil, he said, “All these (kingdoms) I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me” (Matt. 4: 9 – 10).  Then Jesus said to him, “Begone, Satan.  for it is written, “You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve” (Matt. 4: 9 – 10; Ex. 20: 4 – 6; Deut. 6: 13 – 15).  Jesus was and is  “Yahweh” the Lord God Is Israel and He tolerates no other so-called gods.

Now the point here is that we have to stop putting the blame of this bad teaching on two women named Jezebel.  There is no such thing as “a spirit of Jezebel” but there is an ancient old demon who uses pseudonyn  or fictious name of Baal.  He is the real problem here.  But, his real name is Satan and his title is Devil.  He uses the excuse that he doesn’t really want to replace the worship of the only real God: Yahweh (Hebrew) or Jesus (Greek: Yahweh is Salvation), he just wants to give a simple alternative.  The result has been that the blame of bad teaching and leading astray people from their only and real God to worship the Devil/Satan by any one of his name.  So, the name Jezebel is not a synonym for false teacher because in Hebrew the name means “unmarried”, not that the first Jezebel was not married, but that they were not spiritually married to Yahweh/Jesus and part of the Church which is “the bride of Christ” (2 Cor. 11: 2; Rev. 19: 6 – 17).   It’s time to point the finger of judgment on the would-be god who was worshipped by these women ( Jn. 7: 24).  The Jezebels are judged already.

Baal is nobody else but Satan/Devil.  Let us stop allowing the devil to hide behind the skirts of the two Jezebels and a third woman called Jennifer LeClair.  The devil/satan has many pseudonyms:  they are the names of the so-called gods/demons of all the other religions and cults of this world which the devil supervises ( .  Even the devil/satan is smart enough not to have a kingdom divided by itself.  This is the reason why Paul wrote, “Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by giving  heed to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, through the pretensions of liars who consciences are seared, who forbid marriage and enjoin abstinence from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth” (1 Tim. 4: 1 – 3).

If Jennifer LeClaire demonstrates this kind of lack of Biblical Knowledge and History, it’s obvious that her so-called “Spiritual Warriors’s Guide To Defeating Jezebel” is only going result in the defeat of the naive people who follow her instructions.  She obviously missed out on what was happening with the “two Jezebels”, so my question is, “What else is she wrong about?”  If she wants to continuously attempt to blame a non-existent spirit/demon for the problems of two Jezebels then she has not learned the first lesson of so-called spiritual warfare which is that the devil and demons/evil spirits  do not usually name themselves but use other fictitious names to deceive people who can cast out demons.  In other words, they are liars, like the devil who doesn’t always tell the truth.  But, this does not prevent us from casting them out of people and setting the people free.   It can be said of Jennifer, like the Pharisees, “You are wrong because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God.

Yours in Jesus’ Name,  Gordon

How Jezebel’s False Doctrine Distorts God’s Grace and Truth

Jesus clearly warned His church against Jezebel’s false doctrines, but this ancient evil has succeeded in hiding behind the mask of control and manipulation while few recognize its deeper agenda. Indeed, most do not see Jezebel as the propagator of false doctrines that give the saints a license to sin.

The Greek word for Jezebel in Rev. 2:20 is actually a synonym for false teacher. Jezebel is teaching false doctrines. I believe one of the false doctrines Jezebel is pushing is a distorted message of God’s grace.

Here’s how it works: Jezebel first seduces you into immorality and idolatry—or drunkenness or homosexuality—by telling you it’s OK. After you’ve fallen into the trap, Jezebel’s doctrine eases your conscience by telling you your past, present and future sins are already forgiven—that there’s no need to repent. In fact, Jezebel would not repent (Rev. 2:21)—and neither do those who are seduced by this spirit’s false doctrine. This is a dangerous, even damnable error.

Jezebel Would Not RepentDespite its good works, love, service, faith and patience, Jesus had a few things against the church at Thyatira because its leadership allowed a false prophetess named Jezebel to teach and seduce His servants to commit sexual immorality and idolatry (Rev. 2:20). Jesus said:

“And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent. Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds. I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works” (vv. 21-23).

Jesus went on to give an encouraging word to the rest in Thyatira: “As many as do not have this doctrine, who have not known the depths of Satan, as they say, I will put on you no other burden” (v. 24). That confirms that Jezebel was guilty of teaching false doctrines. But for those who did not embrace Jezebel’s false doctrine, Jesus encouraged them, “Hold fast what you have till I come” (v. 25). In other words, don’t give into this false doctrine—don’t be deceived.

Satan’s Twisted Scripture

Some argue that the spirit of Jezebel does not exist because it is not named specifically in Scripture, but it’s clear that the same demonic force was influencing both the Thyatira Jezebel and Old Testament Queen Jezebel. A study of Scripture shows the influence of this wicked spirit running from the book of Genesis to the book of Revelation. (I dive deeper into this study into my book, The Spiritual Warrior’s Guide to Defeating Jezebel.)

Suffice it to say that Jezebel has, for thousands of years, seduced God’s servants, in part, with false assurances that God’s grace is sufficient without repentance. The Bible clearly states that if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). But we have to confess our sin. When we sin, we also need to repent to maintain an intimate relationship with God.

The devil doesn’t have any new tricks. The Jezebel spirit perverts God’s Word, just like Satan did when he tempted Jesus in the wilderness. Satan told Jesus, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’ and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.’ Jesus said to him, ‘It is written again, “You shall not tempt the Lord your God”’” (Matt. 4:6-7). Satan also tried to get Jesus to idolize him, and Jesus told Him, “You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve’” (vv. 9-10).

Much the same, Jezebel works to seduce you into sin by twisting Scripture. Jezebel’s teachings give you a license to commit immorality and idolatry. Jezebel will tell you that it’s OK to fornicate if you love one another because it doesn’t violate the one new commandment Jesus gave us (John 13:34). Jezebel will set you up to idolize your favorite preacher, possibly while working behind the scenes to seduce him into sexual immorality.

Much of the church is so fascinated with this demonic rock star’s mask of control and manipulation that it misses the subtle deceptive doctrines. And much of the church denies the existence of the Jezebel spirit. Jezebel is like the Lady of Kingdoms whom no one sees (Is. 47). But the Jezebel deception is slowly eroding, as spiritually discerning saints begin to see behind the mask of control and manipulation to the deeper agenda—false doctrines that pave a highway to God’s judgment.

Sitting Under Wrong Teaching

Jezebel would not repent—and she doesn’t want you to, either. With regard to Jezebel, the late David Wilkerson put it this way: “I want to say, in no uncertain terms, that it is dangerous to sit under the wrong teaching. False doctrine can damn you more readily than all the lusts and sins of the flesh. False preachers and teachers are sending more people to hell than all the drug pushers, pimps and prostitutes combined. That is not an overstatement—I believe it. Multitudes of blind, misled Christians are singing and praising the Lord in churches, enslaved by false doctrine. Thousands are sitting under teachers who are pouring out the doctrine of demons—and they come away saying, ‘Wasn’t that wonderful?’”

Wilkerson wrote those words in relation to Jezebel’s false doctrines in 1988. It’s been 25 years since he sounded the alarm, and yet more believers today are being tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine than ever before (Eph. 4:14). The Jezebel deception is real, whether you want to believe that a spirit of Jezebel exists or not. God’s people are indeed selling out to Satan with a distorted message that some so staunchly defend that they work to publicly assassinate the character of anyone who speaks against it, labeling them Pharisees and legalists—and worse.

Make no mistake: I love the grace of God, but grace must stand on truth to be true grace.

Beloved, be not carried about with different and strange doctrines (Heb. 13:9). Set your heart to endure sound doctrine rather than heaping up for yourself teachers that tickle your itching ears (2 Tim. 4:3). Stay true to the doctrine of Christ. It’s been said that the devil’s greatest deception is convincing people he doesn’t exist. If that’s true, Jezebel’s greatest deception is convincing people she’s all about control and manipulation while she’s subtly perverting God’s grace, even as a loving God longs for them to repent. Amen.

REVIVAL ALLIANCE AND TODD BENTLEY

REVIVAL ALLIANCE AND TODD BENTLEY SEEM TO BE DEAD IN THE WATER

Todd Bentley, the Canadian criminally convicted hoEvangelist Todd Bentley, the adulterer, womanizer, drunkard, fake healer and personal friend of Pat King the witch and the epitome of Christian integrity and beloved of Pastor Bill Johnson the grave sucker could not heal his wife of cancer so he divorced her and married his mistress, as this was the Christian thing to do in the Third Wave.

For all practical purposes Revival Alliance and Todd Bentley are almost dead in North America. There isn’t much on the news or in the Christian world anything really of significance about them! After the failure and demise of the Lakeland Revival in 2008 the Pentecostals and Charismatics in North America don’t seem to trust or believe in them anymore!

In 2009, Pastor Bill Johnson of  Bethel Church Redding, California reported on Todd Bentley’s Fresh Fire site :

Several of the members of Revival Alliance flew to Lakeland, Florida, in 2008 both to observe and bless what God was doing through Todd Bentley. He was taking a lot of hits from highly respected leaders pertaining to that outpouring. We went there to lend our support and possibly add our strengths to the movement. We have all been on the receiving end of similar accusations against what God was doing in our ministries and churches. Each of us had developed a friendship and an informal partnership with Todd over the years. We have had great respect for the gift and anointing upon his life.

…Within days of Revival Alliance’s time in Lakeland, Todd’s marriage imploded. Both prophetic words were true. We were all grieved for the effect it would have on people who had been touched by Todd’s ministry, especially the young people who looked to Todd as an example to follow. The consequences could be devastating. We grieved over the effect it would have on the Lakeland outpouring, itself, as well as outpourings in general. Our hearts go out to those who have given themselves to unselfishly serve the great work of God only to be let down by its leader. We grieved especially for Todd and his family, who would suffer from the choices that were made.

Immediate prayers were offered up for all of the above. Repentance would be needed. Deep repentance. The Revival Alliance team felt it best that I be the one to represent them because of my history with Todd and my involvement with the marriage issues.

Charisma magazine reported on March 10, 2009 about Todd Bentley and Revival Alliance

Bentley had led revival meetings in Lakeland, Fla., for nearly four months when he suddenly stepped down from public ministry in August after informing staff members that he and his wife, Shonnah, were separating.

His Fresh Fire Ministries (FFM) board, based in British Columbia, later announced that Bentley had confessed to an inappropriate relationship with a female staff member and a senior board member said Bentley’s alcohol consumption had “crossed the line.”

Joyner said Bentley and his new wife admit that their relationship was “premature,” but say it did not begin until Bentley was convinced his first marriage could not be saved.

“They have both expressed that it was wrong and premature,” Joyner said in his statement. “They do not want to try and cover this up even though they know many will never accept them for it. Even so, they are married now and are resolved to make the most of their marriage, their lives, and to continue to serve the Lord in the best way that they can.” (Read Joyner’s statement.)

Joyner was one of several charismatic ministers who appeared on the platform at the Lakeland Outpouring last June when Bentley publicly submitted himself to the oversight of apostolic leaders Bill Johnson, John Arnott and Ché Ahn, who represent a group called the Revival Alliance.

Arnott said the alliance would serve in an advisory role during Bentley’s restoration process. “I trust all of those guys,” Arnott said. “They’re just men of integrity, men of grace.”

Arnott said Bentley, because of his actions, had stepped out of the fellowship of the alliance. “Relationally we all do care for him,” Arnott said. “But he wouldn’t be seen as a member in good standing.”

Come to the fair! And “I knew when Lakeland was aborted”

Last week, what we could define as Todd Bentley’s travelling circus hit the road.

Starting on May 15, the Bentley revival moved from the Durban area to the “Pretoria Show Grounds” in South Africa. I find that interesting in that the Durban meetings seemed to have lasted about the same amount of time as the well publicized part of the “Lakeland revival”.

Any longer in Durban and it may run out of steam and there would be time for people in the Durban area to notice it and give it a careful examination? Who can say?

My guess is that their “fair grounds” would be like holding the revival at the PNE or the Canadian National Exhibition, which seems a little ironic.

{Bentley has followed up his announcement of the move on the 9th with another anouncement that we are in the midst of “Another Pentecost”, writing:”We don’t need to prophesy any more about a coming healing revival or about a coming harvest; we are already in the season of harvest at the end of the age more souls will be saved than ever before.” No pressure, Todd. No pressure at all.

Wendy Alec, of GOD TV fame, has chimed in with what looks like another prophetic word channeling “God”. “In case you were not paying attention the first time, THUS SAITH THE LORD”?

Todd Bentley sent it out April 30. I’ll be quoting it in the comments for future reference, but one part, directed at Todd personally, really rubbed me the wrong way:

It reads:
“…For my son beloved son,
Do you not realize I knew when I birthed you all those years ago? I knew when Lakeland was aborted; I saw this very day.”

It is bothersome in that “God” is seeing Lakeland” as something that was living and perfect that would have been born and prospered if we would have let that take place. And there is so much evidence to the contrary, which I am sure that my readers are well aware of.

Wendy Alec as carnival barker? Perhaps….

God told me this man was a liar and his website years ago during Lakeland was rubbish. so glad God pulled me out of charismatic nonsense. I still pray in tongues and believe in the Holy Ghost power, but I am not a naive newborn anymore. Todd, get a job.

Todd is just another con man. Maybe not in the same league as an Oral Roberts, a John Hagee, a Benny Hinn, etc. but a con man just the same. He is probably trying to perfect his trade in the backwoods before he brings his act back to the big city and prime time.

The performance may be a little different but the goal is the same. A quest for money, preferably untraceable cash donations.

No wonder he is praising the Lord.

I say that more needs to be said about Bentley,C Peter Wagner,Lance Wallnau,Cindy Jacobs,Chuch Pierce…
People need to be informed and know the Truth!
Otherwise, the CIRCUS never ends and people get very hurt and very wounded
Besides..its our Biblical mandate!

Will this fly when Todd gets back to the States? It sure is being hyped . I cant believe it . When C Peter Wagner joined Rick Joyner,Bob Jones ,Stacy Campbell and everyones favorite George Banov for a coranation of sorts, it was apparent they were unaware of Todds lies about money and that the 33 people raised from dead were just tall tales.I dont think anyone on that stage was aware of his mistress Jessa.Bob Jones claims to go to heaven a couple times a day and no one told him. Rick Joyner is tight with the Apostle Paul but He was kept in the dark.George Banov told Todd, Jesus told me you are a well pleasing Son but within days it was apparent his words that were spoken were not true, and did not come from God.I think God used Todd to expose these guys for what they are false prophets ,false teachers ,and false Apostles.I find it amazing that they are going to run the same play twice this time in Africa.

The Ghostwriter of the Prosperity Gospel? http://iamthetruthcenter.blogspot.ca/2012/03/ghostwriter-of-prosperity-gospel.html

In some parts of Christendom there are ‘Strange Manifestations’ that are being witnessed around the world today, in particular, what we are seeing today known as the ‘Lakeland Revival’ or ‘Florida Healing Outpouring’ . These manifestation, (Shaking, Jerking, convulsing/epileptic like movements, drunkenness, gold dust, gems, feathers to name just a few!) similarly witness also in previous ‘outpourings’ such as the ‘Toronto Blessing/Outpouring’, are being embraced as a move of God (or the new thing that God is doing). Not only are these disturbing but are also being accompanied by numerous unscriptural teachings and extra biblical revelations but their leaders are devoid of integrity and support adultery, divorce, lying and stealing!

When one mentions the movement the ”NAR”, what may come to mind is the New Apostolic Reformation (C.Peter Wagner’s cult), But, when one explores their WHACK (talk about getting ”WHACKED”) theology, NAR really just stands for ~ New Age Religion!!! Bill Johnson, Mike Bickel, Rick Joyner, Bob Jones, Patricia King, Heidi &Roland Baker, Che Ahn, Joshua Mills, Jason Westerfield, Todd & Jessa-”BEL” Bentley, John Crowder, Benjamin Dunn, Stacey Campbell, Kris Vallotton, Matthew Ford, Kevin Dedmond, and Cindy Jacobs just to name a few, are ALL generals for the NAR…they are New Age Renegades representing a New Age Religion…STAY FAR AWAY FROM THE ENEMY’S CAMP!!!!
