JESUS SAID

BAWHAT TO DO WITH A SINNING BROTHER?

Matthew 18:15    “Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother.
16    But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that ‘by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’
17    And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector.
18    “Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
19    “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.
20    For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”

 We Need A Revival

Let Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand, Upon the son of man whom You made strong for Yourself. Then we will not turn back from You; Revive us, and we will call upon Your name.  Restore us, O LORD God of hosts; Cause Your face to shine, And we shall be saved! Psalm 80:17-19

Will You not revive us again, That Your people may rejoice in You?  Show us Your mercy, LORD,  And grant us Your salvation. I will hear what God the LORD will speak, For He will speak peace To His people and to His saints; But let them not turn back to folly. Surely His salvation is near to those who fear Him, That glory may dwell in our land. Psalm 85:6-9

To solve any problem in life we must first admit there is a problem.  And then we must define the problem and work and pray for a solution to the problem. Brother T. Job Anbalagan of the Glory of His Cross Prophetic Ministries in his article “Revival Through Prophesy[i] ” has defined very well why we need a revival

An unsaved person is spiritually dead.  He is a lost soul, as he has not been redeemed from the sin by the Blood of Jesus.  He is to be born again in the Spirit of God.  There are millions of souls in the world awaiting revival from their spiritual death, which came through Adam. On the contrary, a saved soul is spiritually alive.  Nevertheless, he may be spiritually weak, dormant, dull, unconscious or oblivious.  He has a name that he lives but is dead (Rev.3: 1).  There are thousands of saved souls or born-again Christians in our midst, falling under this category.  Though they are born again, yet they are spiritually dumb, deaf, and blind.  They are dumb because they do not tell others about what Jesus has done for them or about the need for salvation through Jesus; they are shy of witnessing for Christ.  They are deaf because they hardly discern the voice of Jesus through the word of God; they are hard of hearing either the footsteps of the coming Messiah from above or the heart-rending cries of lost souls down from the bottomless pit.  They are blind because they do not perceive the suffering Christ in the garb of afflicted strangers who visit their houses for help or who remain sick or in prison (Matt.25: 35-40).        There are many saved Christians who slumber spiritually.  They have lost their first love for God.  Once they were zealous for God actively engaged in soul-winning or helping the mission fields.  The spirit of deep sleep has now come upon them (Is.29:10).

There are many believers who have fallen unconscious spiritually and lost their senses.  They have become indifferent to lost souls and the work in the Lord’s vineyard.  They do not have the agonizing mind of Christ.  Neither do they feel the agonies of the other members of the Body of Christ.   “…Whether one member suffers, all the members suffer with it…” (I Cor.12: 26).  They have no concern for the suffering missionaries on the mission fields or the poor saints in the House of God.

There is yet another category of Christians who are oblivious of their duties and responsibilities in the vineyard of God in this darkest hour as they give preference to the mundane things.

All these kinds of the children of God are likened to the children of Israel who have become “the dry bones” in the prophetic book of Ezekiel (Ch.1). Their lives are not different from the lives of the unsaved persons.  They are like the dry bones in the churches of God, whereas the unsaved persons are like the dry bones in the world. Prophetically speaking, all these children of God represent the last or the end-time Church of the Laodiceans who were lukewarm and were neither cold nor hot.  They are spiritually complacent and say, “I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing”.  However, the Holy Spirit points to them, “thou art wretched, and miserably, and poor, and blind, and naked”.  The Holy Spirit who has been constantly grieved by the lives of such children of God is still standing at the door and knocking at their hearts, unwilling to desert them because of His long-suffering.  “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me” (Rev.3: 14-22).  The bride of the Song of Solomon sleeps but her heart wakes and hears the voice of her Beloved “that knocketh, saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: for my head is filled with dew, and my locks with the drops of the night” (Song 5:2).

Since all these children of God are the individual members of the invisible Body of Christ, the Church, they are to be revived first.  God will send a might revival to this world only through the revived members of the Body of Christ.

There are many demonic inspired movements in Christendom today that talk about a revival but they are not real revival because they don’t involve the whole body of Christ and they don’t affect society and this includes especially the ones in the Third Wave and Rodney Howard Browne and Todd Bentley which are man centered and not Christ centered!

Todd Bentley [ii] is the tattooed former criminal who in July 2008 stepped down from his controversial revival in Florida over an affair with a woman. Bentley, raised in Gibsons, B.C., was known to be a heavy drinker. During his ecstatic services he would often punch or kick sick people in the name of healing them. It wasn’t his outrageous claims of raising the dead that finally landed Todd Bentley in trouble. Not the contradictory sermons, or even his criminal past. Not the face piercings, the neck-toknee tattoos, the biker-dude lifestyle. His followers could live with all that; it was part of the act.

Bentley, a 32-year-old former drug addict from the west coast, was the hottest thing going on the global televangelist circuit. A hog-riding faith healer with a devil-may-care attitude. Then he failed his flock, the old fashioned way: cheating on his wife. Todd Bentley, disgraced, went into hiding for six months and then resurfaced.

In 2009 after the revival failed and Todd Bentley [iii] divorced his wife, Rick Joyner led the restoration team which included leaders who had vouched for Bentley’s good character in the past even as he was deceiving us all, and has posted a letter on his web page. We are informed that ‘Even so, they are married now and are resolved to make the most of their marriage, their lives, and to continue to serve the Lord in the best way that they can. ‘

Their being married far from making it right has in my view made matters even  worse and totally disqualified Todd Bentley from any reinstatement in ministry in the foreseeable future. It means there is no repentance. He has simply gone into outright rebellion by marrying his mistress. Even if his wife had chosen to divorce him, which does not seem to be the case, a more judicious, moral and righteous course of action would have been to break off this adulterous relationship and stay celibate before God Instead, he remarries quickly. And we are put before the fait accompli. Is there a recent translation of the New Testament that decrees that the solution to adultery is to quickly divorce the offended party and marry the mistress?

Canadian Revivalist Todd Bentley preached on seven fold restoration including the restoration of marriage [iv] and had a mistress during the Lakeland demonic revival and-was drunk most of the time –  He stated:

If your marriage needs to be restored then stir up your faith and ask: “My God, please, I want You to restore my marriage, and I want it to be better than it was in the first place. I want there to be double the intimacy.” Get aggressive. Don’t just settle for an “okay, restore my marriage” attitude. “Restore my marriage and give it to me double!”

So why did Todd divorce his wife and not practice what he preached? Because he is a hypocrite, a false one, a son of hell just like all the preachers in the Third Wave!

Rick Joyner and Bill Johnson being both caught up in the realm of deceiving spirits, could  only reinforce TB’s behavior. TB’s declaration of “opening up the stargate portals to the third heaven” had absolutely nothing to do with God or His heavenly realms…it is based on previous declarations by high level occultist. His “angel” connections were not God’s angels, they are familiar spirits and demonic forces. What he does and declares is UTTERLY SATANIC…not “just a little eccentric.” The opening up of these “portals” that TB is engaged in is activated by his own soul power/soul energy called kundalini in Hinduism. There is much material  on the web about it as it is practiced by those in the occult/new age especially  http://newchristian.org.uk/kundalini.html

Rodney Howard Browne [v] made his ministry known in the USA by playing to a large audience at the Charismatic Carpenter’s Home Church in 1993 and 1994. Through approval by Benny Hinn, who launched him at his own meeting, and Kenneth Copeland’s church meeting along with airplay by TBN He brought the new thing to naïve and silly Christians who were open for just about anything to happen and call it God. And so the new latter rain movement got a shot in the arm with laughing hysterically and being inebriated on the floor.

Rodney who believes in nepotism in his meetings taught that not only it was the pastor’s job to fleece the sheep but only God was to judge pastors, not the (dumb) sheep! He also taught that it was more important to give than to receive and spend a lot of time receiving offerings that he spent on himself and family members.

Rodney also taught that thieves were to be blessed and rewarded, not judged for this is what Jesus would want them to do!  So he blessed thieving Karl Strader with a new Lincoln town car with money raised from the dumb sheep when Karl robbed him but refused to help any of Dan Strader’s victims [vi].

James Jacob Prasch of Moriel Ministries writes in his article  The Delusional World Of Mark Stibbe & St Andrews Chorleywood [vii]:

From Kansas City to the religious fiasco in Toronto, to the failed revival at Brownsville resulting in a major church split and public financial scandal, and on to the infamous heresy and abuse of Lakeland. The same odious characters at the core attracting like-minded charlatans including the Strader brothers, Daniel imprisoned until 2036 for defrauding elderly Christians out of $3 million and Stephen who was thought by the judge to be just as guilty.

After Bentley’s exposure in the USA on ABC Nightline he was swiftly removed from ministry to prevent further scrutiny. Not only was he unable to provide evidence of a single healing, many who were pronounced healed have since died. Furthermore the Arnold Palmer Hospital has stated that claims of resurrections were bogus

For those that don’t know, in 2008 (April to July) there was a revival in Lakeland Florida where people were thrown around by some invisible force (which they, Charisma Magazine insisted was the Holy Spirit). People shook violently on stage claiming the most bizarre manifestations, visions and visitations by angles. Todd Bentley punched and kicked people to heal them, spoke of visiting people in dreams and also told of countless trips to heaven where he once stuffed his pockets with gold from a treasury room. He blasphemously baptised people in the name of the father, the son and the bam. But who could forget the 39 people claimed risen from the dead.

The jerking in Toronto, Brownsville, Lakeland or any other revival place is not a sign of the Holy Spirit but of a Kundalini demon which infiltrated Christianity mainly in North America through Rodney Howard Browne!  The fact is the bible never talks about “jerking” being an attribute of the Holy Spirit but rather it states but the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control THE KEY WORD HERE IS SELF-CONTROL AND WHEN YOU ARE POSSESSED BY A DEMONIC KUNDALINI SPIRIT THERE IS NO CONTROL AND THAT IS TOTALLY WRONG AND AGAINST SCRIPTURE!

Pastor/Evangelist Gordon Williams [viii] in his posting “Todd Bentley Is Not A Christian” states:

Jesus heals, I must disagree with you when you wrote, “Miracles and gifts of the spirit don’t validate a Christian. The fruit of the spirit validates a Christian. peace, love, patience, hope, joy, faith.” First, you did not mention all of the fruit of the Spirit but I know what you mean (Gal. 5: 22 -23). The reason why I disagree with you is because you continuously mis-identify people, like Todd Bentley as a Christian. He is not a Christian nor are those who go chasing after the counterfeit signs and so-called miracles that he and others misrepresent as being from the Holy Spirit. Real Christian Believers do not get deceived and offer counterfeits because they draw attention to themselves and they cannot tell the difference between the work of the Holy Spirit and the work of the devil and demons. They do not do the things that the New Testament tells us clearly are the work and character of authentic Christian believers. They glory in their sin and make excuses for their adulterous work, drunkenness and love of money to say nothing of all the works of the flesh which they seem to think are the fruit of the Holy Spirit. As a man once told me: “If it doesn’t look like a sheep, and eat like a sheep and talk like a sheep and do sheep things, it isn’t a sheep”. Well, just stop and look at all the un-Scriptural things these people are doing. They do not look like Christians, they don’t eat as Christians, they do not talk like Christians and they do not do Christian things. So, they are not Christians.

Jesus tells us that the “signs” following confirm the preaching of the Word and prove who are authentic believers. This is very clear when you examine the Greek definition of “signs”. They were the reason why Nicodemus said to Jesus, “Rabbi, we know that you are a man sent from God; for no man could do these signs that you do, unless God is with him” (Jn. 3: 2). The legitimate 15 Gifts of the Holy Spirit (Rom. 12: 6 – 8; 1 Cor. 12: 8 – 10)prove that we are authentic believers. The fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5: 22 – 23) describes the Character of Jesus which the Holy Spirit develops us so that we can use the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. Because the real or authentic Gifts of the Holy Spirit are not being used and encouraged with these counterfeit Christians who demonstrate counterfeit gifts, we have to be very careful in choosing our words as I think you have done in your letter. I learned a long time ago that there are “Christians” and there are “christians” (religious people) who are not believers. People, like the person you mentioned who received healing and made the mistake of attributing it to Todd Bentley has not learned that whoever calls on Jesus will catch Jesus’ attention, even while watching a deceptive person pretending to be a believer, and answer their prayer and heal them. When I examine these counterfeit Christians, according to Scripture, they are not believers according to Jesus Christ. Because most pastors and churches do not encourage the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and use the 15 Gifts of the Holy Spirit, they are easy victims when the counterfeits are demonstrated. This is an important ministry that we have in the churches that I am invited to preach and do ministry. As you know it is “to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ” (Eph. 4: 12). So, I suggest that you do not look upon such people as Christians because they are not

BROWNSVILLE

BROWNSVILLETHE FALSE BROWNSVILLE REVIVAL

THE FLUFF AND STUFF

Now, consider the so-called “miracles” emerging from the “Brownsville Revival”. I have either witnessed all of the following myself (in person or on video tape), or heard reports of the following from eye-witnesses. People fall over (this is called “slain in the Spirit” or “prostration”), people laugh, people belch, people jerk, people bow at the waist, people vomit, people crawl on their hands and knees and bark like dogs, people scream and shriek, people dance, people jump off of platforms into an imaginary “river” flowing just off the platform, people tuck their hands under their armpits, flap their arms, and cluck like chickens, and so on ad infinitum. The overarching defining quality of the “Brownsville miracle” is this: things happen that can be duplicated by mere human effort. Note that in virtually all cases there is no practical reason for the supernatural event. Rather, people are pursuing experiences for the sheer sake of the experience. Next I contend that not only should these demonstrations not be called “miracles,” but they should not even be called “manifestations” of the Spirit.

THE GREEN RIVER OF BROWNSVILLE
LIFESTYLES OF THE RICH AND NOT-SO FAMOUS

A lot of things get counted at the Brownsville Assembly of God. It is the site of some fantastic claims and what has been called “the largest local church revival in the history of America.”

Since the inception of the so-called “Pensacola Outpouring” on Father’s Day 1995, grandiose claims have been made about the revival services hosted four nights a week, 48 weeks a year for the past three years. More than 2.5 million people reportedly have attended these services. The number of “decisions for Christ” is claimed to top 133,000.

All sorts of figures abound as a result of this purported “last days” revival and outpouring of the Holy Spirit. But these figures are quite selective and ambiguous. For example, the attendance total and number of decisions, in many cases, reflect the same person making repeated visits and decisions.

What is more disturbing is what is not being reported. Throughout the revival’s public relations campaign, little, if any, coverage has been devoted to the large amount of cash being funneled into the church’s coffers and into the key leaders’ independent ministries through donations and by way of the sale of videotapes, literature and revival paraphernalia. Once Pensacola’s local newspaper got involved, the public learned how lucrative the revival business is.

Beginning in the fall 1997, following several months of exceptional investigative work, the Pensacola News Journal released a series of award-winning articles challenging the questionable practices of the leadership of the Brownsville Assembly of God church. The paper revealed a carefully planned and orchestrated revival by the church’s leadership — the antithesis of the claimed spontaneous move of God — and has shown how some claims have been fabricated to enhance the revival’s reputation.

The Brownsville leadership’s financial benefits have become a focal point for the newspaper’s ongoing reports. PFO has long contended that the revival was more commodities and merchandising than biblical sanctification. (See “The Murky River of Brownsville,” The Quarterly Journal, April-June 1997.) The News Journal information only sustained in greater detail what PFO had already discerned.

For 1997, the newspaper estimated “the total revival revenue was between $4.3 million and $5.4 million for that one year.” These figures were based upon on-site donations and contributions, sales of books, tapes and other literature, and funds from two ministers’ conferences sponsored by the revival.

Offerings from the Friday night revival services are given directly to evangelist Stephen Hill. According to tax records secured by the newspaper, the Friday weekly evening offering averaged in excess of $20,000, and in 1996 (the first full year of the revival) these donations gave Hill’s ministry, “Together in the Harvest,” nearly $1 million. Some pastors do not receive $20,000 a year, let alone $20,000 a week! A representative for the church estimated that the average collection during each of the week’s other three services is $12,500 nightly.

Indeed, revival has been very, very profitable for the men overseeing this purported move of the Holy Spirit. Three of the revival’s principal leaders have all acquired large tracts of land by way of their independent ministries and have built or are currently building opulent homes.

The newspaper disclosed that “Feast of Fire,” the ministry of church pastor John Kilpatrick, bought “16 acres in Seminole, Ala., and constructed a combination bus barn, guest house and office.” The barn was built to accommodate the $310,000 deluxe motor coach (literally an apartment on wheels) to chauffeur the pastor on his revival-related travels. Also on the property, Kilpatrick has built a $340,000 luxury home. All of this comes despite the pastor’s hollow declaration that: “I have always strived to set an example by not living above the means of my people.” Kilpatrick’s salary from his ministry in 1996 was $100,000 (for which the newspaper claimed he worked 20 hours a week) and he received a $73,600 annual salary from the church.

Evangelist Hill’s ministry has also flourished since the revival’s inception. “Together in the Harvest” reported an increase in its land assets from no property in 1994 to over a half million dollars’ worth two years later. In 1996, it bought 40 acres of land in Lillian, Ala., and, according to the newspaper’s account, has subsequently paid to “refurbish a house for Hill and his family, remodel an existing barn into living quarters and build a distribution center, duplex house and an office building” on the property just across the Florida state line. The cost of the Alabama parcel was listed at $887,931.

While Hill’s ministry did use nearly 10 percent of its 1996 income for “specific assistance to individuals,” a sizable percentage went to those directly connected with the revival or with Hill, including Kilpatrick, theologian Michael Brown, singer Charity James and others.

Hill has also told revival attendees about an orphanage in rural Argentina that “Together in the Harvest” has supported. Following assistance from the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires, the Pensacola newspaper located the orphanage. The paper stated, “A spokesperson at the orphanage said Hill had been in a mission group that helped build the orphanage in the 1980s. But she also said the orphanage had not heard from Hill for about 10 years, and she asked the News Journal for Hill’s address so the director could write Hill and ask for a donation.”

Michael Brown, theologian for the revival and president of the Brownsville Revival School Ministry, has followed the lead of Kilpatrick and Hill and is also moving west. Brown’s organization, “ICN Ministries Inc.,” recently purchased an 11-acre tract in Alabama. The paper reported that “Brown and his wife are building a house, which their building permit estimates at $727,360 construction cost, on a portion of the land that his ministry ICN purchased.” Brown was quick to point out that “ICN is not paying for construction of any house anywhere,” the newspaper said. Brown, in a letter to the editor, challenged the paper’s report and said that “My wife and I are not building a home valued at $727,000. … Actually, the official appraisal sets the value of the house and its three surrounding acres of property at less than $425,000, equal to the value of our home in Pace [Fla.].”

Brown’s home in Pace was purchased in 1996 for $419,000 and is located at a gated subdivision on a golf course. Reporters from the newspaper told PFO that they stand by their original figures for Brown’s new home.

Despite the News Journal’s exposure of the dramatic upsurge of the revival leadership’s lifestyles, a lack of financial accountability remains. After three full years, the revival leaders still have not gained certification from the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA), although two of the three, Kilpatrick and Hill, have formally applied, Brown has not.

The vigorous pleas for donations continue unabated. “Let us give joyfully, for the need is so great” is an anthem heard as revival leaders sometimes spend as much as 20 minutes of the services asking for donations. The appeal for funds has also gone beyond the church walls. Hill’s “Together in the Harvest” ministry made a recent solicitation by way of a mass mailing from names acquired at the revival. The newspaper said that “Hill tells his letter recipients that Jesus has informed him that He is coming back in the near future, and He won’t tolerate sinners.”

Hill even pretends to have God speaking: “Let them know My warm season of grace and mercy will soon turn to a chilling winter of judgment and wrath. … The warm days of My wooing will be exchanged for the fiery days of My vengeance,” he wrote in his funds appeal letter. To encourage the need for donations and their urgency, his accompanying newsletter said that the cost of saving souls was mounting. Evidently, so is property and its upkeep in Alabama.

As the fiscal fortunes realized in the past few months set the future standard for these men and their ministries, more time and energy will be devoted to the raising of funds. They will soon find, if they have not done so already, the ministry, its needs, and their lifestyle will take on an existence of its own. Expenses will be the machine that relentlessly drives them. During dialogue about the large sums of money being invested into the personal fortunes of these men, one Brownsville staff member recently asked PFO director G. Richard Fisher, “Does that offend you?” You bet it does, and it does because of the following.

The mounting greed has perhaps caused these men to be blinded to what they are doing to people — and if it is not their desire for fortune, then it may well be born out of an appetite for fame and power. Reports are now being heard that people have come to the revival services with dead babies — hoping and praying for the resurrection of the deceased children. The men responsible for the revival have long contended that the day is coming when raisings from the dead will be commonplace within the Church. And they have even claimed reports of resurrections. How appropriate Peter’s words apply here: “In their greed these [false] teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up” (2 Peter 2:3).

Peter also advised that elders not be in ministry for gain (1 Peter 5:2-3). Brownsville leaders are setting their faithful, gullible and desperate followers up for even bigger disappointments and horrendous grief.

Perhaps the money lust has inured the Brownsville leaders to the bizarre and pathetic. In July, they were featuring David Hogan, who claimed 300 raisings from the dead in Mexico. Of course, no evidence was offered and details were sketchy. An e-mail message to Brownsville from PFO produced no documentation, just a fax number for David Hogan. Brownsville leaders did not seem to want to stand by what goes out from their pulpit. They would offer no documentation or names and places for Hogan’s claims.

Two requests were sent to Hogan’s fax number asking for his credentials for ministry and the names and locations for the raisings. PFO’s request for the specifics have also gone unanswered by Hogan or his ministry.

Even more regrettable is how all of this has taken the revival even further away from the moorings of Scripture. The apostle Paul, in establishing the qualifications for Church elders and overseers, states that he should not be “a lover of money” and “not pursuing dishonest gain” (1 Timothy 3:3, 8). Temperance must be held by the Church leader in many areas of life, including his finances and material possessions. The Evangelical Commentary on the Bible notes: “The overseer must be respected for his behavior. He must open his life to others and be able to communicate God’s truth” (pg. 1105). No doubt the communication spoke of by the Commentary addresses not only oral expressions, but also a lifestyle which testifies to the Gospel.

Paul further writes to Timothy that an elder “must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap” (1 Timothy 3:7). According to statements from the Pensacola News Journal’s writers to PFO, the reputation of the Brownsville leadership regretfully lacks the good standing in the community that Paul insisted on. They are viewed as money changers in the temple.

The revival leaders charged the newspaper’s reports contain “factual errors and distortions.” In spite of their reaction (laced with measures of intimidation), the News Journal cannot be so easily dismissed. A good degree of responsibility and a desire for change must be demonstrated by the Brownsville leaders. Certainly they cannot give an unequivocal “silver and gold have I none.”

If there is not serious change and repentance, the revival and its leadership will drift into even greater perversion. They may have fat bank accounts and fat wallets but in the end that does not impress God. The leadership in Brownsville has forgotten the words of the Savior: “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth. … but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven” (Matthew 6:19-20). When a river turns green, it means it’s polluted and in the end the green river of Brownsville may well be its downfall. Christ came to make us right, not rich.

BROWNSVILLE REVIVAL

The “Pensacola Revival” is the directly linked to the TB (Toronto Blessing i.e Toronto Curse) , as the fateful 1995 Father’s Day outbreak. Both Steve Hill and the leadership of the Brownsville Assembly of God had gone to Toronto to receive the “anointing” personally.
“Strange, unusual and wonderful things started happening after Brenda Kilpatrick came back from the Vineyard church in Toronto, Canada . . . signs of early revival started manifesting in the spring services . . . What had been seen in Toronto started happening among the people of Brownsville . . . Brenda explained how she had a drastic change in her prayer life. ‘I could never be the same again after I returned from Toronto.” (The Source of “The River” By Pastor Bill Randles) Brenda then proceeds to tell one of these ‘wonderful things’ – being frozen in one position for over two hours! This is the very same occurrence in RHB at Carpenters Church in Florida.
“The time had come for God to allow His move at the Pensacola church. [Brenda explains] ‘We had a friend named Steve Hill . . . He called us about his impartation that he had received from England. He was just on fire with a new anointing of what God had given him. We were so excited and said, ‘Maybe this will bring revival when Steve comes . . . ‘”
Pentecostal preacher Joseph Chambers wrote in The End Times Newsletter, (March-April 1997, p. 8). “For several weeks leading up to this time [the beginning of the manifestations in Pensacola], some changes had been taking place, and some of the members of Brownsville AOG had been traveling up to Toronto meetings, even taking carloads and vanloads of members along. Mrs. Kilpatrick [the pastor’s wife] made two trips accompanied by the wife of one of the church officers. Rev. Kilpatrick [pastor of Brownsville AOG] started to drive up there one time, but his trip was interrupted and he returned to Pensacola without making it to the Toronto airport vineyard meeting. I saw no mention of this in his book. When this series of meetings began in Pensacola, a lot of organization had to be done in a hurry–namely, the formation of ‘prayer teams’ and how to deal with the people who came forward. The order of the day was: ‘That’s how they do it in Toronto’” (Dr. Herb Babcock, former member of Brownsville AOG, “That’s How They Do It in Toronto!”
“Our pastor’s wife went to Toronto in February or March of 1994, I don’t remember when for sure, but when she got back…without even telling of any of the manifestations she had seen…a few started that very Sunday she returned. She came back healed of things…so changed that Pastor was jealous of the refreshing touch God had given her!
“Then Lindel Cooley became our new worship leader. Our other one was anointed but Lindel brought something more….He, too, had visited Toronto right before he came to Brownsville.”
Kilpatrick showed the congregation a video of a Toronto Blessing service, in which people fall to the floor, “slain in the spirit,” as they feel the Holy Spirit taking over them.
Kilpatrick had followers of evangelist Rodney Howard-Browne attend a Brownsville service, where they functioned as an example of highly expressive worship. Howard-Browne, a dramatically energetic evangelist who calls himself the “Holy Ghost bartender,” is known for promoting the “holy laughter” phenomenon in which people succumb to hysterical convulsions. His followers did that at Brownsville.
It was at HTB that Hill was to receive the “impartation” that he’d transmit to the BAG church, which would become the basis for the “Pensacola Revival.” Hill had first read about HTB in an article in Time magazine titled Laughing for the Lord, August 15, 1994.
Hill said in an interview with Don Nori in the Destiny Image Digest, “We’ve received a lot from the Toronto church on how to pray with people and care for folks. We model a lot of what’s going on here from them.”
Hill had been to Toronto to receive the “anointing.” But sought another anointing in a Anglican church in England, Holy Trinity Brompton.
Hill’s recounts how he received the “impartation” at HTB. Reading the Time magazine article titled Laughing for the Lord, August 15, 1994 lit something in him. He asked his hosts, “Where is the Holy Ghost moving in England?” His hosts were members of HTB and loaded him down with literature concerning the “revival.” Hill began to read, “testimony after testimony” of lives changed and of faith renewed, his hunger increased, and he made an appointment with the pastor of HTB, Sandy Millar.
Hill arrived at the church during the prayer meeting, amazed at the sight of it: “I stepped over bodies to get to the pastor. When Sandy touched me, I fell to the ground . . . I was like a kid at Toys-R-Us . . . Then, I got up and ran to a couple and said, ‘Pray for me, man, this is good!’ They touched me and WHAM! I went back down. Some of you, God is going to hit in a powerful way. If you are hungry, get prayed for a dozen times.” (From the Father’s Day video, June, 1995.)
I guess if it doesn’t work the first time be opened to eleven more. Pensacola has become famous for its palsied “chicken walk,” or shake, jerk and fall manifestations. Even the prayer teams themselves were manifesting some form of the jerks, twitches.
Brenda explains one of those ‘wonderful things’ – being frozen in one position for over two hours! like Toronto they claim it was a spontaneous outpouring, just like Toronto they are frozen (which all comes from Rodney Browne). One is given the notion that, “Suddenly, like a rushing mighty wind,” the Spirit blew in on an unsuspecting Pentecostal church taking them by surprise, hitting the pastor in the back of his legs and knocking him over. But there was an anticipation that something was definitely going to happen.
[Brenda explains] ‘We had a friend named Steve Hill . . . He called us about his impartation that he had received from England. He was just on fire with a new anointing of what God had given him. We were so excited and said, ‘Maybe this will bring revival when Steve comes . . . ‘”
Rev. Kilpatricks statements reveal the his understanding of this move, “THIS IS NOT A PREACHING REVIVAL,” (Rev. John Kilpatrick Leadership Meeting Oct. 1996, Kerrville, Texas)
If not preaching then what? “So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.” (Rom. 10:17) Peter preached the Word, three thousand were added that day. We are told to preach the word, we are sent to preach, not to make them twitch and shake. But he is right it is not a preaching revival in the same way Toronto was not either.
Evangelist Steve Hill, a Pensacola’s Brownsville Assembly of God, interviewed on TV’s “20/20,” explains his experience “I didn’t believe in God, but…out of desperation…I said, ‘Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.’ I just began to say that name, and a power came through my body….” This same chant is seen at the services invoking Jesus. This is how he was born again, a highly unusual and non biblical way.
Well the church of Witness Lee (local church) does the same thing, just chant Jesus. The more you say his name the more power of his presence is there.
Steve Hill enthusiastically moving from one seeker to another at Brownesville touching the middle forehead yelling, “More, Lord!” this is thee same same as Toronto The result is always the same-the spirit is imparted and it causes seekers to shake, laugh, roar, fall out, etc. all the same things at Toronto.
Hill chants the name,” ‘Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!’ A peace, a warmth such as I never felt before, flooded my body. This power rushed in like a river and took command of everything. I kept crying out His name, louder and louder: ‘Jesus! Jesus! Jesus!’ The more I said it, the greater was my deliverance.”( Hill, The Pursuit of Revival, 30. )
This is what the cults do to beckon the spirit to manifest. The repetition of words over and over is a New Age occultic technique called a mantra. as Hindu mantras “Aum” or “Hare Krishna”-invoke a spirit. The Gnostics said iii eee oooo and other such syllables to invoke the power.
When a willing subject is found in a passive state and a mantra is repeated, a demonic power overcomes the speaker. This is exactly how Hill describes his conversion! Where in the Scripture does it instruct someone to do such a thing?
Hill does the same , repeating “More, Lord!,” and “Fire! Fire! Fire!,” to summon and pass on the spirit at the Brownsville “revival.” For instance, the Brownsville prayer team, the group that prays for people at Hill’s altar calls, is instructed to impart the spirit only by touch and the repetition of words (cliche’s). Dr. Herb Babcock, former prayer team member explains, “While on the prayer team, we were instructed to NOT pray in Jesus’ name. We were told to NOT pray for the needs of people. The only thing we were to do was touch people on their forehead and say, “More, Lord!” and keep repeating that until there was an “impartation” of the spirit being promoted in these meetings.” Babcock continues, “If the person did not respond in a reasonable time, move on to someone else. Any deviation from the limited procedure would result in being removed from the prayer team, which did happen to a few individuals.” ( Dr. Herb Babcock, “That’s How They Do It In Toronto!,” The End-Times and Victorious Living, Vol. 11, No. 2, March/April 1997, 18.)
This is exactly what Rodney Browne states! Fill , fill, there it is , the fire etc.. Coincidence, not really.
Hill has stated in rebuttal to his critics, “The second mark of a God mocker is a fear of confrontation and change. They are so stuck in religious tradition that they are closed to new revelation. … (How anyone can come into a revival meeting in Brownsville and fail to feel Jesus is beyond me! I can’t imagine it.)” (Stephen Hill, The God Mockers, chapter 1)
This is similar again to what Browne states to his critics. “Pharisees, Saducees. wouldn’t sees.”…”You can’t understand what God is doing in these meetings with an analytical mind,’ he says. ‘The only way you’re going to understand what God is doing is with your heart.” (Holy Laughter, Albert James Dager, 1996)
In 1996 Steve Gray of Smithon Missouri went with is wife to visit Pensacola. He states he went not to get something but to see “as Moses went to o see the burning bush.” While he may admit he went not to get “it’ he certainly believed it was God he went to see, as the analogy tells all. After the revival services he says that God spoke saying “he wanted you to have revival.” This again shows me that this is man centered, because God would never say such a thing since it is by his spirit alone that revival comes from. He never tells anyone to ‘have a revival” but to repent and from this attitude he may or may not send one.
Steve was depressed and couldn’t fathom the thought But God told him,”I didn’t say I want you to be a revival. I said I want you to have a revival.”
When he got back to his Church on the 2nd night God poured out his power, healing and restoration on the entire congregation. he describes “the air felt like a waterfall flowing with waves and waves of the glorious river of God. So was born the Smithton outpouring. There have been over 200,000 people from all over the world that have visited since Mar. of 1996.
Now where is the tie in besides Toronto look at what Pastor Kilpatrick says, “Brother Kenneth Hagin and Brother Kenneth Copeland have done an excellent job along with others on teaching us about the authority of the believer.” (Glory on Your House , John Kilpatrick) Where does the source come from? The common denominator is traced to the word faith movement. Hagin, Copeland, Hinn.
Personally I would like to believe this is genuine but when one knows of the trail that this all came from, how can something that came from Pensacola, that came from Toronto and came from Copeland, Hagin, Rodney Browne via Benny Hinn and even further back into the Latter Rain be authentic?
Well this has been quite a ride (though a short one) of tracking the spirit manifestations from its infancy to its current teenage state. As it spreads further it will mature into its real purpose.
The teaching of anointed ones who dispense the “it”. This spirit is localized and transferable from Benny Hinn, Rodney Howard Browne, and Toronto. Go to Toronto, Brownsville to “receive a fresh touch from God.” But you cannot receive this spirit unless someone that already has received it, gives it to you.
These are pilgrimages to “power centers” (anointing) where the spirit is in manifesting is exactly what Jesus warned about in MT.24 “When they say to you, ‘Look here is Christ or there he is’ go not after them . . . “(the newest one is to TB Joshua in Nigeria)
It is not, “Look here is Jesus,” but “Look here is Christ.” The word “Christ” means ” anointed one.” They go to Toronto or Pensacola for “the anointing” from an anointed one, not for the teaching of Jesus. In fact most of the people participating in these spiritual movements care little for teaching- they are there for an experience.
There are testimonies of a experience but How does God authentically change a life? The new model says that God changes people by “zapping them” and they have an immediate experience, he operates on them, they feel him. There is no such thing as this in Scripture except for the immediate born again experience of salvation. And more often than not people will not feel a thing.
Constantly the people are sent messages like “Some of you are going to feel a heavy sensation in your arms and legs. That’s God. You’re going to fall down, or you will feel numb and can’t move. Others are going to feel heat, or electricity and some of you will start to laugh or cry.” This is sensual feelings from the outside, true spiritual activity is from within if one possesses the new nature. this is no different than what the gurus gave to their devotees in shakti-pat.
We should be careful not to confuse the sensual with true spirituality. Certainly there are times God can be felt but feelings are to be ruled by the spirit of self control, which demonstrates true spirituality. One need not wonder what needs to take place for the church to be removed from the faith. Something must come to undermine the peoples objective discernment by either replacing it or changing it. Feelings and experience are a hard taskmaster to live by. Jude whose book is about contending for the faith and apostates in the Church warns us of those who are ” sensual persons.” they cause divisions (heresies) not having the Spirit. Those who do not have the spirit or are not having him work by them will often do gyrations to convince themselves and others they do!
I watched a baptism conducted at Pensacola on video and some people go wild, thrashing and fighting as they are dunked. They look like they need deliverance instead of officiating a welcome into the body of Christ. I thought baptism was to illustrate the old person is dead, in these they ( the old nature) becomes more alive.
Hill has said, “I’ve come home with wounds and bruises all over my body, friend. This is revival!” Power and activity = God, is a dangerous road to travel on.
Today’s revival is filled with dumbfoundedness, collapsing (slain), stammering, slamming, paralysis all kinds of acts of violence and one can act like a looney bird and blame it all on the Spirit. (just look at the Toronto video of John Scotland drunk and singing I shot the Sheriff to see the hard truth).
As of late Pensacola is now defunct as Steve Hill, Michael Browne and Kilpatrick have gone each their own ways and not peaceably. I guess you can sum it all up by the new wine turning to sour grapes

BIRTHMARKS OF A MOVE OF GOD

As soon as I walked into the building I could sense the presence of God.

We were visiting one of our spiritual sons who has planted a work in the southeast part of our country. We were only passing through. It was just Carolyn, me, and him. The atmosphere in the small building where he was holding services was charged with the presence and power of God. I knew him to be a man of prayer so that did not surprise me.

Our visit encouraged him and birthed some things in him, but it also left its mark on  my wife and I. I have not been able to shake it. In a day when many churches are toning down on the move of the Spirit, structuring their services in such a way where it leaves no time and space for the Holy Spirit to work, and following the latest Madison Avenue tactics and cultural church trends, it was refreshing to hear the testimony of a brother who is moving in the opposite direction.

There are always certain birthmarks of a real move of God in a church or a city. Here are the ones we witnessed in the testimony of this unnamed brother and the work he is doing.

1. He is not following the money. God has led him to be high intensity on the power and glory of God and low profile on money emphasis. Of course, we are not opposed to receiving offerings, but in his particular case he is not receiving conventional 10-15 minute offerings that are attached to a tithing/offering message. Instead he leaves a basket in a corner where people can give if they choose to.

I used to think this method was a form of shame, that most people wouldn’t give, and it would cheat the people out of a blessing. But because of the day’s extreme emphasis on finances and the diminishing level of trust in Christian leadership, this brother has chosen to allow people to give out of the move of God that is touching them instead of a forced agenda. It is working for him.

Money doesn’t control him. He stays detached from the system of unbelief. Some men recently tried to manipulate him with a large tithe and he sent them on their way, refusing to let them use money as a form of manipulation to control him. How refreshing that is in today’s church culture!

2. He is following the glory. This work is marked by a passion for the glory of God. Many miracles, signs, and wonders are taking place. Instead of the focus being on the wealthy and those who can give, it is on the poor and those who cannot give. The example of this is seen in at least two places in Scripture: the parable of the great supper (Lk. 14:16-24) and the cleansing of the temple (Mt. 21:12-14). Instead of the traditional ministry philosophy where the members of the church serve the pastor and his vision, the pastor and the vision serve the people and empower them to fulfill their calling and destiny. There are rules, boundaries, and protocol but love is the law that prevails.

In January the church did an outreach in the open air for the drug addicts, the prostitutes, the sick and diseased, and the outcasts of society. Miracles were reported and many were saved, healed, and delivered.

They began taking the gospel to the projects on Sunday afternoon after their church service. They would pray and then go out. The power of God started moving in these projects. One day about a dozen gang members and hoodlums came out and this brother talked to them about the Lord. They wanted nothing to do with church or God. In the south, religion, man’s traditions, and hypocrisy have choked the life of God from its churches and embittered many.

This brother challenged them and asked them if God were to come down and touch them, would they serve Him? They answered yes. Then he prayed a short prayer and the fire of God came down on the street and they were all slain in the Spirit. Glory to God!

Every time this unnamed brother goes to the projects some of these men now go with him. Word of mouth advertising is spreading quickly and people keep coming and the Lord keeps adding to the church.

One millionaire businessman who owns the plaza (strip mall) where their facility is located has begun to tithe to the church because since they’ve been there the businesses in this plaza have been revitalized. At one time they were all close to foreclosure. Empty buildings are now being filled. This millionaire is not even a church-goer and is giving to this church and work because God has touched his business.

3. Finally, the work is built on true worship and prayer. There is a love affair going on with the Lord here, and it begins at the leadership level. People are learning through precept and example to seek the face of God more than His hand. The birthing of the glory of God and the movement of Divine activity have come out of that place of true worship and prayer.

Here is something every pastor needs to know in this hour. The glory of God will take care of a thousand concerns that you have. When you satisfy the heart of God and let Him build His house of prayer He perfects everything that concerns you. His glory touches other areas of your life and ministry so you will never have to address them. Take care of His business and He will take care of yours.

I have known for years that there is a move of the Spirit that modern day Charismatics know nothing about, and we’ve got to get it back. He wants to build houses of prayer that are filled with His glory. This alone will satisfy God’s heart and the heart of every man.

The works of God that will stand the test of His holy fire are gold, silver, and precious stones. Conversely, works of wood, hay, and stubble will be burned up.

My fervent admonition to you today is to go for the gold. Go for the glory. For unless the Lord builds the house they labor in vain that build it (Ps 127:1).

Oh ministers of the Lord and you who bear His vessels, the Holy Spirit has been sent to help you. Pray, listen, and follow Him. This is the season He wants to make everything new, fresh, and alive again.

BRING BACK THE OLD ANOINTINGS: HOW LONG WILL WE BE SATISFIED WITH HAPPY SHALLOW REVIVALS?

Many of our so called modern revivals are happy but shallow. This is of deep concern to me for I am not seeing the old anointings any more. My heart grieves especially for the young people who have never witnessed the real power of God.

Honestly, some things I see today are appalling. That old teaching that we are free from the Law has raised its ugly head again. Certainly, we are free from the Law written on stone, but we are not free from the Law that is written in our hearts.

In a time when repentance is needed the most we have teachings sweeping the land that tell Christians they don’t need to repent. In a day when there is a deplorable lack of holiness in the Church we are being told that we are already holy enough through Christ’s sacrifice (2 Cor. 7:1). In an hour when we sadly lack God’s power we are oversaturated with Church conferences that focus on numbers. Whatever it takes to grow numbers seems to be the cry of every powerless pastor.

Call me old school if you want to, but I see far too much irreverence, levity, frivolous behavior, a deplorable lack of holiness and sanctification, and a far too easy backsliding in the modern Church, which frankly is coming from hearing another gospel.

For the Pentecostal and Charismatic, our baptisms of the Holy Ghost are also too shallow. And we don’t even speak in tongues any more, or we designate it to the back room. Pentecostals seem to be growing in number but where is the power?

Things have got to change and it starts with ministers. If enough of us do not change, people will go underground and find another way. We will have more nones and dones, unchurched and de-churched among the multitudes.

Since this magazine is a Pentecostal/Charismatic publication let’s talk about our movement.

Is it still a movement or have we been grounded? Are we really in revival or in a rut? Is it a mighty flowing river that brings refreshing or has it become a swamp full of stagnancy and stench?

There was a time when Pentecostal meant something. In old fashioned Pentecostal meetings you weren’t supposed to know what was going to happen next. When led by seasoned mature men of spiritual stature there was order but there was also power and life. Today, it’s 5 songs, a prayer, an offering, announcements, and a sermon – dismiss, rinse, repeat. Such routine and predictability!

Thus the reason many are leaving our local churches. Oh, they’re not leaving God; they’re only leaving the church to find God. Ouch! I know it hurts to hear that.

At one time Pentecostal meetings were nothing less than the gate of heaven. It was a meeting with God.

Repentance is our deepest need. Without repentance men’s hearts are not touched, broken, melted, or moved. The result is superficiality. There are many who still receive the word with joy, but they lack depth or have no root. And so they are not fit for the day of tribulation or persecution (Mat. 13:5, 20-21). Through soft and non-repentance preaching many pastors are grooming their people to miss the Lord’s coming and be martyrs in the great day of tribulation. Ouch! I know that hurts, too.

You can easily tell where there has been true repentance. The one great characteristic is a love for the Word. “Great peace have those who love Your Law, and nothing causes them to stumble” (Ps. 119:165). If you’re still easily offended you have never repented as you should.

“Then He began to rebuke the cities in which most of His mighty works had been done, because they did not repent” (Mat. 11:20).

And let’s get one thing straight. We desperately need miracles and the power of God, but that alone does not produce repentance. Neither is it in what we say or don’t say. We can say the sweetest things or the most terrible things with still no guarantee of repentance. Some will still remain indifferent and never be affected. It is the Spirit that we need to produce repentance in men’s hearts.

The call is to pray and to preach with the Spirit. The call is to let the Spirit move!

Jesus wept over the cities who had not repented because He knew of the judgment that was coming. When is the last time you heard a message on judgment. Most preachers today have never been to the judgment Seat. They will never preach it until they’ve trembled before it themselves. Today religion is happier to speak of universal salvation and a pie in the sky for each of us regardless of the road they traveled to get there.

Without the Holy Spirit you will make men hard. That was my most common mistake as a young preacher. Crusty, dry soil needs a fresh shower of rain to be broken up. The great need is to see the holy, spotless King in His glory and then you will understand the universality and gravity of sin and the deep need of repentance.

A fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit will produce not only repentance but it will keep us humble, broken, and softened before Him whom all things are open and naked (Heb. 4:13).

The true anointing of the Spirit is what is clearly missing from preachers and our gatherings today. Many are gifted and can dazzle audiences with their charisma and knowledge but they lack the dew of heaven.

Many are like Samson who did not know that the Spirit of the Lord had departed from him (Jud. 16:20). And just as Samson, we have lost our way.

May God have mercy on us and grant us repentance and lead us back to the gate of heaven.

REVIVAL

AA PENTECOSTAL REVIVAL OF THE WORLD

2 Chronicles 7:14. If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

PRAYER
I key to revival is found in this verse. The word revival comes from the Latin word, re, which means “again,” and vivo, which means “to live”. Revival literally means “to live again.” Where do we find revival? It may not necessarily be great preaching, or people being converted, or huge crowds of Christian people. Revival is “a new beginning of obedience to God.”
This is what our church needs, “a new beginning of obedience to God.” That is what I hope will be birthed this month as we look at the issues of Lordship and prayer, a new beginning of obedience to God. Amen.
Again, the key is found in the passage in 2 Chronicles we just read. It is a promise from God that if the church, His people, will do their part, then God will fulfill a promise He also makes in the same verse. I want to break this prayer down so we will have a fuller understanding of what our part is and God’s promise to us.

1. If My people, who are called by My name.
Revival begins with the people of God. It is when you and I who have been bought by Jesus Christ and have accepted and made Him our Lord and Savior begin to believe the answer to this lost and saying world is within our grasp. This is a tremendous responsibility, but God has given to the church the power through the Holy Spirit to accomplish what He has set before us. Understand this, when God asks His church, you and I, to do something, He will always give us the ability to do, He just awaits for us to have the courage to do it.
How do we move in the ability to accomplish His purpose. We need to pray that the eyes of our understanding be open so we can see what God wants to do through us, and that our ears will be open to hear the voice of God calling and encouraging us to press on. Imagine what we would forge ahead and do for the Kingdom if each one of us responded with the knowledge, understanding and obedience to the call of God for our generation.

2. If my people…will humble themselves.
Humility. God’s people must be broken, modest and humble. We are not to be proud and arrogant. James 4:6 states, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Do you want God’s grace upon your life? Tragically I have seen Pentecostal people who have become spiritually arrogant. Because they have walked into a deeper communion with God than some others of non-Pentecostal belief, they walk and talk with spiritual arrogance. Be careful. God’s gifts are irrevocable, but the presence of God becomes distant when we act superior to others. When God’s people are humble, He is drawn to them. When pride is present, God resists them.
When David Brainerd was dying, he continued to cry out to God for the souls of the American Indians. Revival can come when God’s people humble themselves, become concerned and seek God’s forgiveness and become open to all of God’s ways.
How can you do this? When is the last time you went before God on Bended knees instead of just singing about coming to Him on them? We need to kneel before the King, to humble ourselves on Bended knee. We need to pray for God’s compassion upon the lost, and to ask God to forgive us for our lack of concern for the world which so desperately needs Jesus Christ.

3. If My people…will…pray
Prayer sound easy, yes I will pray. But words are cheap, action is costly. We need to pray. To pray for our children, our schools, our homes, our government leaders, our cities, our churches, for the world. We need to pray for a new Pentecost, a fresh overflowing of the Holy Spirit on the world. Our prayers should be full of faith, mixed with compassion. But let me warn you about something in revival prayer. Man cannot bring revival through prayer by his own technique. It only comes when man looks to God’s ability. Zechariah wrote in chapter 4:6, “Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit.”
In Acts we discover the first apostolic sermon preached saw 3,000 saved. That was a message preached by an uneducated fisherman. Why? Because God did it. In 80 years, the Assemblies of God has grown to approximately 30 million members. How? Because God did it. Church, our nation desperately needs help. This community desperately needs help, spiritually, morally, in areas of employment, and I believe that God is willing, I know that God can do things, open doors to opportunity and I know He will do it through our obedience.
We need to pray with renewed fervor for our city, for our children, for marriages in this community that are in trouble. We need to pray for the schools, for the churches in this community. We need to pray and ask God to send a new Pentecost upon the land.

4. If My People…will…seek My face.
Have you ever thought to seek the face of God? Seeking His face involves determination, discipline, and perseverance. It is not the kind of praying that is done when we say grace at the dinner table. It involves focusing our very being on speaking to, and hearing from the living God. Pastor Cho of Korea spends 3 hours each day in prayer and insists his pastoral staff pray for 2 hours. He asks for his church to pray for 1 hour each day. It is no wonder the church in Seoul Korea has over 700,000 tithing members.
We must seek God’s face for our churches with a greater determination.
How can you do it. First you need to ask God to help you become more disciplined, faithful and determined to be a pray-er. Begin now to purpose in your heart to pray more than you ever have in the past and to be a one who prayers on a more consistent basis.

5. If my people…will…turn from their wicked ways
God hates sin. God is a holy God and we must continually repent and turn from our wicked ways. When David had sin in his life, he felt alone and away from God. When Israel refused to deal
with their sin, they lost their battles. Weakness can come to us when we do not deal with sin and rebellion in our lives.
When looking at our lives, we can ask God to give us a new hunger to know Jesus in a deeper way. We need to specifically ask God to change our lives and we must be completely willing to obey God in all areas of our lives. Our repentance must be without restraint. David prayed in Psalm 51:10, “Create in me a clean heart.”
We must be determined to keep worldly distractions out of our lives. We must keep focused on our relationship with God. Paul said in Philippians 3:13, “This one thing I do.”
Examine you hearts and lives. Are there areas of rebellion, wicked ways, sinful thinking, feelings or behaviors that you need to repent from? You need tonight to ask God to forgive you and determine that you will walk a renewed life in holiness to God and man. And thank Jesus for His forgiveness which He offers freely to you because of the sacrifice He made on Calvary for you.
Church, revival is when Christians get their relationships right with God. When revived Pentecostal Christians pray, a nation can be changed because the Creator God moves in supernatural ways. I don’t know if you realize this, but God wants Pentecostal revival more than we do. He has laid out the blueprint for what it will take for us to get there, and He awaits for the response of His people. God will do it once again if we will humble ourselves and pray.
I want to close this with a call to prayer. I want to ask you to take a few moments to pray for God to give us a fresh Pentecost, in our hearts, in our homes, in our churches, in our schools, in our nation. Then I want us to end this service with worship to our King.

ACJESUS TOLD BLIND IGNORANT DEMONIZED CHRISTIANS THAT THEY WERE WRETCHED, MISERABLE, POOR, BLIND AND NAKED AND NEEDED TO BE ZEALOUS AND REPENT

REVELATIONS 3:14    “And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, ‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God:
15    “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot.
16    So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.
17    Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’ — and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked —
18    I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.
19    As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.
20    Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
21    To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
22    “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” ‘ ”

AND WHAT HAS CHANGED TODAY AMONGST SO CALLED CHRISTIANS? NOTHING MUCH!

YEAR IN REVIEW: Mike Bickle: What’s Wrong With Grace?

3:00PM EDT 4/2/2013 Mike Bickle

Mike Bickle explains how the grace of God has been distorted. (istockphoto.com/Amphotora Golfladi)

Editor’s Note: 2013 was a big year in the church—and in the world. This week we’re looking at some of the biggest stories of the year, selected based on feedback from our readers. Thanks for reading Charisma News this year and stay tuned as we continue expanding our coverage in 2014 to include more spiritual insights on the stories that matter most to you.

The most powerful, significant and liberating message ever given to the human race is the gospel of grace. The Christian life is established on the foundation of this wonderful truth, which emphasizes what Christ did for us on the cross and what the Holy Spirit does in us in our daily life. Paul’s dramatic declaration that we have become new creations in Christ has vast implications for our lives: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away … all things have become new … that we [our spirit] might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Cor. 5:17-21).

The “he” that is a new creation is our spirit man. We possess the very righteousness of God in our spirit (v. 21). This describes our new legal position in Christ—how God sees and relates to us. In Christ, all things have become new pertaining to our spirit. This includes being fully accepted by God, receiving the authority to use the name of Jesus and possessing the indwelling Holy Spirit—all of which enable us to resist sin, sickness and Satan; to walk in victory; and to release the works of God through prayer. The old things that passed away under this legal shift include no longer being under the penalty of sin nor being dominated by the power of sin.

So what’s the problem if we’ve been given such freedom as new creations? Unfortunately, man’s natural tendency to distort truth gets in the way. And when it comes to a truth as fundamental and crucial as grace, that distortion has far-reaching implications. In short, it can become the central crisis of an entire generation.

The Crisis of Our Time

The apostle Jude confronted the great spiritual crisis of his day when he exhorted believers to contend earnestly for the “faith” or for the message of grace originally delivered to them through the first apostles. In Jude 3-4, he writes: “I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. For certain men have crept in unnoticed … ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness.”

Think about this: Within one generation after Jesus’ resurrection, it was already necessary to contend for the true grace message. That’s how key this battle over the true grace message is and always has been since Jesus’ definitive work on the cross.

Jude warned of certain men who crept into the fellowship of the church unnoticed—that is, their error went unnoticed by most of the leaders and the people. These men turned the message of grace into a message of lewdness or one that affirmed various compromises, even sexual immorality. These men with persuasive teaching abilities twisted what the Bible said about grace, thus empowering many to confidently continue in sinful activities without feeling any urgency to repent.

Undoubtedly, these teachers of error appeared outwardly to live godly, but in their private lives they refused to repent of various lusts. Instead, they justified their ungodly habits by distorting the message of grace to accommodate their lifestyles.

The result was devastating, as many in the church concluded that it was acceptable for them also to live with similar compromises because these popular teachers were justifying this sort of lifestyle with various Bible verses. In reality, they took these verses out of context of the broader New Testament message, which called believers to live in wholehearted love for Jesus as evidenced by seeking to live in obedience to Him (John 14:15, 21).

The same is true with hyper-grace teachers today. They choose to emphasize only God’s love and forgiveness while practically ignoring Jesus’ call for His people to walk in wholehearted commitment to the Lord. They preach mostly on forgiveness without repentance and on receiving God’s blessing on their circumstances without any conditions. The truth is, it’s glorious that we are freely forgiven by Jesus and that He blesses our circumstances; but these truths are in context to seeking to live in a real relationship with Him and in agreement with His leadership and Word.

Jude’s exhortation is a significant warning for the body of Christ today. When the grace message is distorted, everything else in one’s spiritual life becomes blurred. In fact, there is no spiritual battle more significant in the church today than contending to keep the grace message faithful to Scripture.

Sadly, some believers aren’t even aware of this spiritual crisis regarding a diluted grace message. They must wake up to the emergency at hand—because today, as we contend for the spirit of truth, we are fighting for the very soul of a generation.

It’s easier in today’s world for teachers to creep in unnoticed, as Jude said, because of television and the Internet. Some contemporary teachers distorting the message of grace come from high-profile ministries whose very popularity gives them a false sense of credibility. We must not receive a ministry because it’s attractive and popular; we should only receive it if it’s faithful to the truth.

Paul prophesied of a time when many who profess loyalty to Jesus would fall to unsound doctrine: “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables” (2 Tim. 4:3-4).

These people aren’t willing to embrace the challenges of a lifestyle of obedience to Jesus as emphasized by the sound teaching in the New Testament. Instead, they have “itching ears” to hear messages that affirm their sinful desires. They want to feel comfortable in their relationship with God, even as they continue to boldly walk out their sinful lusts.

By isolating Bible verses about God’s blessing and forgiveness from the larger context of the New Testament’s call to love Jesus with obedience, they affirm the lustful desires of their hearers. One famous TV preacher went so far to say that there is no longer a need for a believer to repent because Jesus’ work on the cross did that for them. He obviously overlooked the fact that Jesus repeatedly called born-again believers to repent for yielding to various compromises (see Rev. 2:5, 16, 21-22; 3:3, 19).

Grace: The Power to Love and Obey Jesus

If countless sincere believers have already succumbed to the rising tide of this distorted grace message, how can we stand strong through the crisis? It starts by remaining grounded in biblical truth. We must approach the biblical grace message through the lens of God calling us to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength (Mark 12:30).

The Lord wants us to love Him in a wholehearted way because that’s how He loves us—with all of His heart, mind and strength. This mutual relationship of wholehearted love between a believer and the Lord is foundational to the kingdom. In fact, this is the very way that the Father loves the Son—with all of His heart. The Son loves the Father and the Spirit loves the Father and Son in this way too. Oh, the glorious mystery of one God in three persons who delight in Their relationship of wholehearted love for each other (see John 3:35; 5:20; 14:31; 15:9; 17:23, 26)! God’s plan from the foundation of the earth was to redeem people so that they could participate in this loving fellowship that the three persons of the Trinity enjoy.

The core reality of the grace message is to empower us to walk with God in a relationship of wholehearted love. Jesus called this “the first commandment” (Mark 12:30). Thus, the Holy Spirit’s first agenda is to establish the first commandment in first place in the church. This must also be our first agenda. Wholehearted love is to be “first” in our response to God because it is how the Father relates to the Son and how the Godhead relates to us. We must see grace through the lens of this quality of love. To think of grace without it being anchored in the first commandment is to be aiming at the wrong target. Thus, we distort the grace message when we do not interpret it through the lens of the first commandment. We must love Jesus on His terms, and He defined loving God in terms of a spirit of obedience to His commandments (see John 14:15, 21, 23).

There’s no such thing as loving Jesus without seeking to obey His Word. Some seek to love God on the terms of a humanistic culture that has no reference to obeying the Word. But loving and seeking to obey Jesus are synonymous. All of His commands are based in His love. Thus, the biblical message of grace teaches us to live righteously and to deny ungodliness as the way of expressing our love to God. Titus 2:11-12 says, “The grace of God … has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly.”

If you hear a teaching on grace that doesn’t call you to deny ungodliness, it’s not a biblical grace message—it’s a distorted one.

Legal Position vs. Living Condition

As we correctly view the grace message through the lens of the first commandment, we can also begin to understand the difference between our legal position before God and our ongoing living condition as a response to what Jesus has done. Not only is there a key difference between these two, it’s often the element that hyper-grace adherents conveniently overlook.

Our legal position is what Jesus accomplished for us on the cross, while our living condition is what Jesus requires of us in our response to Him. In our legal position, we stand before God by possessing His righteousness (2 Cor. 5:21). Our legal standing before God is so glorious that it will never be improved upon—not even with the perfection of a resurrected body—because we received Christ’s very own righteousness. Our legal position relates to receiving His righteousness instantly on the day that we are born again.

Our living condition, on the other hand, relates to growing in righteousness progressively as our mind is renewed, causing our behavior and emotions to be transformed by the Holy Spirit in us.

The gospel is the good news about receiving God’s righteousness and can be seen in three tenses:

Justification: our legal position—past tense, focused on our spirit

Sanctification: our living condition—present tense, focused on our soul

Glorification: our eternal exaltation—future tense, focused on our body

One-third of our salvation is complete (the salvation of our spirit), but the other two parts are not yet complete in our experience (the salvation of our soul and body). All believers have received the fullness of grace in their spirit (legal position), and yet they can still live far below it in their daily experience (living condition).

Much misunderstanding about grace can be traced to misunderstanding the distinctions of these truths. Many confuse what Jesus did for us in our legal position with what He requires of us in our response to Him in our living condition.

Jesus’ finished work on the cross makes His grace fully available to us as a gift. However, our regular interaction with the Spirit causes us to experience the transforming power of this grace in our daily life. James wrote about this when he urged believers to walk in a greater measure of grace because God “gives grace to the humble” (James 4:6).

James wrote this to born-again believers, calling them to receive more grace. A believer already has the gift of righteousness and therefore can’t receive “more grace” in his or her legal position. However, each of us can receive “more grace” in our living condition—and this is what James was referring to. We can always experience more of God’s grace to transform and renew our mind and emotions (see Rom. 12:2).

Grace in the Eight Beatitudes

If we hope to experience more of this transforming grace on a daily basis, then we must follow the words of the greatest teacher on grace who ever walked the earth: Jesus. The Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 5-7) is His most comprehensive statement about a believer’s role in cooperating with God’s grace. In this teaching, Jesus defined loving God in context to the eight beatitudes (5:3-10), offering us a rich understanding of how to walk out biblical grace in our daily lives.

One aspect of this is Jesus’ exhortation to us to hunger for more of God’s righteousness (v. 6). Here, Jesus affirmed the need to press into God for a greater release of righteousness in our daily lives—our living condition. Keep in mind that He wasn’t calling us to receive more of the gift of righteousness, since we already fully possess this in our legal position. Our hunger for righteousness doesn’t cause us to deserve grace—nothing can do that—but hunger positions us to receive more of the outworking of righteousness in our character.

Some believers don’t hunger to grow in righteousness in their daily life. Rather, they seek to know how far they can go in sin and how little they need to talk with Jesus to keep their salvation intact.

Imagine a couple in their wedding ceremony who have just completed their vows. While walking down the aisle for the first time as “one,” the man whispers to his new bride, “How far can I go with other women before we get divorced? And how much do I have to talk to you each week?” Adding insult to injury, he then says, “By the way, we just signed a marriage license that legalized our marriage—so now I have legal rights to all that you possess.”

Of course, the new bride would be heartbroken to hear that her husband didn’t love her with all of his heart but was instead establishing their marriage on a faulty foundation—and focusing almost entirely on the bare-minimum “requirements” and legal ramifications involved.

Some teach about grace in a way that parallels the lack of wholeheartedness portrayed in this analogy. It’s a version of grace more concerned with what it takes to “meet the requirements” on paper than to engage in the authentic, loving relationship for which it was originally intended. Sadly, this error is bound to occur whenever people separate the grace message from the first commandment.

How to Receive God’s Grace

Grace was never intended to be abused, but as our current church crisis proves, it can be. God gives us the freedom to choose relationship and obedience to His Word—and thus benefit from the true liberty found in grace. Yet this is also why Paul urged the believers in Corinth “not to receive the grace of God in vain” (2 Cor. 6:1).

The gospel of grace is distorted in two main ways: first, by presenting God’s love as something we can earn; second, by refusing to call people to respond in wholeheartedness to God. The fruit of the biblical grace message is confidence in the gift of God’s love combined with a spirit of obedience. If either of these two elements is missing, then it isn’t the true message. Thus, receiving God’s grace in vain is to receive it in such a way that it doesn’t produce confidence in God’s love nor the resolve to respond wholeheartedly to Jesus’ leadership. Either distortion is disastrous for our spiritual life.

Like Jude in the first century, we must earnestly contend for the truth about grace. The very soul of the youth in our nation hangs in the balance.

The good news, however, is this: The Holy Spirit is highlighting this spiritual crisis and is committed to the recovery of the biblical grace message. We can be confident that He will release His power to establish the first commandment in first place in the church before Jesus returns for His fully prepared Bride (see Rev. 19:7). Let’s come alongside Him, rather than opposing Him, when it comes to receiving, understanding and walking in grace.

MIKE BICKLES IHOP IS A CULT

Darren,

What really breaks my heart is the young people (18-30) who start out on fire for God and get really caught up in all this stuff. In 1999 I was asked by some friends of mine to go with them to Kansas City and help with the setup of the “internship program” and be on Staff. At that time I was “older” then most of the kids, had been in ministry and was considered an example of a Godly intercessor.

I lasted about 4 months, but I was stranded in Kansas City for 2 and a half years. I lasted 4 months because I asked too many questions. These kids were (still are as far as I know) being told that they were “prayer missionaries”. They were expected to work for the ministry 40 hours a week, pray in IHOP 40 hours a week AND attend Grace Bible college and do all the homework required. They were also told they had to raise their own support and they told they could not work outside the ministry.

I was also present in an orientation meeting when the “newbies” were told that it would be better for them to have no contact with old friends or family as they were being trained in a “new way of thinking” outsiders (exact word) would not understand.

When I questioned these and many other practices, first I the people around me stopped talking to me. A week later I was called into a meeting and told “we are not sure you fit in with us here”. I was then told not to come to the prayer house or talk to the interns. 2 things I continued to do until the day I left Kansas City!!

I was sharing a flat in a complex where almost everyone renting there was part of IHOP. Mz flat mates were the directors of the internship program. The flat was directly across the street from where the prayer house was then.

The people I was sharing a flat with were told to take my keys and throw me out. Fortunately, the lease was in my name and when they tried to do that I contacted the Landlord and called the police. I think they were a little shocked that I did not just bow down. After 2 weeks of wrangling where I was forceably locked in my room, physically threatened, coerced and all 4 of my car tires slashed and my car vandalized the complex manager gave me an flat rent free for 3 months. I found a job and was able to start paying rent the second month.

After I started working I started getting threatening phone calls at home and at work. I had made the mistake of calling my former flat mates about something from work, so they gave my work number all around. The calls were traced back to IHOPs offices at Metro Church and charges of stalking and harrassing phone calls were brought. That stopped the phone calls, but it did not stop some of the leaders from sitting or standing outside my building door and shouting and screaming at me if they saw me. One “worship leader” from IHOP even threw water on me from his balcony 2 floors above in same building.

Now I suppose you wonder why I stayed. Well, first of all I did not have the money to leave. I spent all my money getting there, getting set up, buying a car, etc. The other reason was the kids. Almost every week another poor kid would show up who had spent all their money to get there, on fire for God, wanting to “DO SOMETHING FOR GOD” and the first time they spoke out or asked a question or spoke their mind they were told they did not fit and were thrown out. Since they had cut all ties with home after they got their they did not know what to do. Usually I found them tired, exhausted and fed up sitting in a local coffee shop or McDonalds down the street. There was always the old trick of the “IHOP” leadership” telling flat mates they could just chuck their things out and demand their keys. I was usually the one who told them that was not true and I made lots of enemies at IHOP for telling these kids the truth. A couple of them had no idea what they could do and were sleeping on the streets. There are hard cold realities for those who do not fit in at IHOP. I spent hours counseling these “kids” (usually 18-25) and helping them reconnect with their families and get home.

Since leaving IHOP and ministering in other parts of the world with my husband, I have come across other poor souls who have fallen into the IHOP trap and had to be rescued by friends and family.

I still consider myself a prayer warrior and I have seen God do some amazing things. I do not want to cheapen the real thing by focusing on the false teachings and ideas that are out there, but I think the truth needs to be told.

NOw ask me about the Kansas City (Smithton)revival… ;=)

Blessings,

Ann

Smith/Kansas City Revival

Oh dear so much has been said about the Smith/Kansas City revival. There were whole websites dedicated to its abuse and heresies. So I think I will do it like this.

THINGS I LEARNED FROM THE SMITHTON REVIVAL

1. If you see a good show somewhere else, there is no reason you can not recreate it in your church. Steve Gray said “I went to Brownsville and I can DO that too”.

2. No one is indespensible. It does not matter if its your mother, father, brother, sister, sister-in-law or even your children. If they get in the way of the show, they gotta go.

3. A handpicked audience is always better. Steve and Kathy made sure only the most gullible, agreeable, easily manipulated were in the front for the world to see.

4. If your 2 year old can not stand in the same spot with their hands in the air for 3 to 4 hours of worshiping God then beat them until they learn to submit. This was actually in the “Revival Handbook” until it was turned over to Childrens Protective Services. I saw this first hand in the ladies bathroom where the little demons were brought to be beaten before going back to “worship”. I personally reported 2 parents to child services.

5. Never let people know where the money really goes. this was always true of the Grays. The truth is the money always went to them, not the ministry because THEY WERE THE MINISTRY. that is why they could leave Smithton, sell the building, run away and never look back (see Smithton Revival: Revival’s Relocation Pits Pastor Against Alienated Followers http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2001/october1/14.18.html)

6. If they wont give you money, dont give them anything either. We were in a tent for 2 years. In the winter in the freezing cold and in the summer in the blazing heat. Steve figured that it would help people give more to build a building quicker. When they did build a building it was much different then what was promised and much less was spent then what was actually raised for the building.

7. Make promises you know you will not keep. This was always happening. If people had a problem, a promise was made to fix it on the spot, but it never happened. You know of course that you can not really questions “Gods Elect” so they could never be called liars.

Oh my there is so much I learned at World Revival Church. This should do for a start 🙂

Ann

IT’S MY OPINION

THE PROBLEM IS BOTH HYPER-GRACE PREACHERS AND THIRD WAVE PREACHERS HAVE NO INTEGRITY AND ARE OFF THE WALL. THEY ARE NOT FULL OF FAITH, POWER AND THE HOLY SPIRIT BUT ARE FULL OF THEMSELVES!

While it true some believers don’t hunger to grow in righteousness in their daily life. Rather, they seek to know how far they can go in sin and how little they need to talk with Jesus to keep their salvation intact. It is also true that these so called believers are not really Christians but deceived ones otherwise the would live and walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh and operate in all the gifts of the Spirit.

Unfortunately it’s a sad fact that most Christian leaders don’t operate in all the gifts of the Spirit and are not full of faith, power and the Holy Spirit like Stephen the layman was:

Acts 6:
5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude. And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch,

8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people

GOD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS

Also, could it be that we’re finding our way back to God and traditional values via the squawk of a mallard call blown by Christian long-beards hiding in a duck blind?

God works in mysterious ways, eh?

Isaiah 59:19 So shall they fear The name of the LORD from the west, And His glory from the rising of the sun; When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the LORD will lift up a standard against him.

DUCK DYNASTY IS SHOWING GOD TO THE WORLD.  WHO KNEW GOD WOULD DUCK CALLS TO CALL MANKIND INTO HIS FOLD.

In addition, nearly everything Obama legislates, as the “Hope & Change” our nation, according to him, “needs” — this show subtly screams against.

obDuck Dynasty: The Pro-God, Guns, Family and Capitalism Reality Show Rules the Ratings Roost

 OB3

Duck Dynasty kicked off its fourth season last Wednesday and they did it with a bang, raking in the highest ratings for any cable reality show in US history.

Yep, last Wednesday a whopping 11.8 million people rocked up to see what was going down in the bayou at the Robertson’s household.

You just know that kind of success has got to make miserable the dainty, little, progressive crowd who are trying legislatively and culturally to peel America away from the pro-God-and-country values that the cast of Duck Dynasty showcases with hairy-chinned hilarity.

Indeed, without a sex tape; without shoving transvestites down our throats; without lauding rank, familial dysfunctionalism; or parading feral children of the corn, or mocking God, or having sex on camera for their grandparents to see, or selling moonshine, or being naked and afraid, or having their children yell, “F— you!” at their parents during church, America has voted with their time and with their cash that they would rather watch the Duck Commanders move through their day than watch the cultural chum slick that Hollywood dishes up, ad nauseum, et infinitum.

In contrast to the cultural-coarsening bilge that Hollywood and Manhattan churn out with predictable regularity, the Robertson’s are unabashedly pro-God, pro-guns, pro-hunting, pro-family, pro-self reliance, pro-capitalism, pro-charity, pro-America, pro-military and pro-respect for elders, and the show platforms that when you live like that, well … life tends to smile on those who honor such time cherished truths. Plus, they’re laugh-out-loud funny.

That’s gotta hurt, eh, progressives? I mean, nearly every thing you and Tinseltown champions and lauds – this show is not. In addition, nearly everything Obama legislates, as the “Hope & Change” our nation, according to him, “needs” — this show subtly screams against.

From a cultural standpoint this is very telling and muy encouraging to me. It appears as if millions and millions of Americans have a massive appetite for good, clean fun versus the self-destructive mayhem the societal deconstructionists are trying to foist upon us.

So, what does this cultural phenomenon mean? Well, it could mean that maybe, just maybe, our nation’s not, as it appears, going to hell in a hand basket.

Also, could it be that we’re finding our way back to God and traditional values via the squawk of a mallard call blown by Christian long-beards hiding in a duck blind?

God works in mysterious ways, eh?

Congrats to Duck Dynasty for their success and thank you, A&E, for having the cojones to put such a quality show on your channel amidst a lot of opposition.

THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD

BCThe Spirit of the LORD

There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, And a Branch shall grow out of his roots. The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him,  The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might,  The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD. His delight is in the fear of the LORD,  And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes,  Nor decide by the hearing of His ears;  But with righteousness He shall judge the poor,  And decide with equity for the meek of the earth;  He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth,  And with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked.  Righteousness shall be the belt of His loins, And faithfulness the belt of His waist. Isaiah 11:1-5

Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.  But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.  But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. For “who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:12-16

The Word of God tells us in Isaiah 11:1-5 that Jesus was totally dependent on the Holy Spirit to lead, guide, direct, help and anoint Him, as well as to do the miracles. The power of the Lord was present to heal all (Luke 4:18, 5:17). Everyone who came to Jesus was healed by Him! He had a perfect track record in the area of healing. He unlike others never made an excuse why some were not healed. He didn’t collect the names of people who were healed to show them off or to build a mass mailing list, or see and use them as usable commodities as some Christian ministries do? Jesus’ anointing was unlimited or without measure for the purposes of healing and delivering all that came to Him. And we can all have the same anointing for all that belong to Jesus belongs to the Father, and what belong to the Father belongs to Jesus and what belongs to Jesus belongs to us (John 16; 14-15)? And this includes Paul, Apollos and others. God’s word is unchanging:

Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one? I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.

Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor.  For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building.  According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it.  For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.  Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,  each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is.  If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward.  If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.(1 Corinthians 3:5-15)

It’s to be noted that ministry is not to facilitate the vision of the house and its evangelist or pastor.  Ministry is not to get rich off the sheep.  Ministry is not to pursue a secret hidden agenda for prominence, fortune and fame like Judas who betrayed Jesus for his greed (Matthew 26:24, Luke 6; 16, Luke 22:3). Yes Judas healed the sick, cast out devils and fellowshipped with Jesus and also stole money from the treasurer and was a betrayer and traitor! Unlike others even of our day, Jesus did not just teach or preach but He did real works such as cast out devils, heal the sick, raise the dead, cause cripples to walk, and rebuked religious Pharisees who didn’t do such things! What Jesus lacked in any area of His life He made up for it by the power of the anointing. Prayer, knowledge of the Word of God and the anointing were the only things Jesus needed to minister to the poor, hurting and needy people. And He did a very successful job! Mind you the bible doesn’t tell us that in Jesus’ meetings were seen the  weird manifestations in so called revivals  today, including laughter, weeping, falling, shaking, jerking and roaring!  A.L. Gill  in his article “A Call for the Discerning of Spirits in This End-Time Revival” states:

However, just because these manifestations occurred in past revivals does not necessarily mean that they were, or are from God. Often when the anointing of God becomes the strongest, demons begin to manifest. Isaiah wrote, “The anointing breaks the yoke …”

In India, where people worship serpents, I have witnessed demons manifesting like serpents. In the name of Jesus, I have commanded the manifestations to stop, and the person has lain there as if unconscious until the end of the preaching. Then I could minister deliverance without distracting from the preaching or from the ministry that followed.

In other parts of Asia where people eat live monkey brains, I have seen demons manifesting like monkeys in the overwhelming presence of God.

In our meetings, when we can have teams trained ahead of time, if a demon starts to manifest and distract during the teaching, I have moved the people’s attention to the opposite side of the assembly. Then the workers could quickly move the person to a separate location to minister deliverance. This keeps demons from distracting the people away from what the Spirit of God is doing.

I understand that it’s now a common practice in large meetings in Argentina and other South American nations where great revival is being experienced, for trained ushers to remove people who are having demonic manifestations from the main tent. They are taken into another tent where trained teams minister deliverance.

There are times when I have witnessed overt manifestations that I knew by the discerning of spirits were not from God. However, I knew also they were not demonic. They were simply an uncontrolled emotional response from that person’s soul or flesh.

…Part of the problem is that many are following the manifestations instead of discerning the moves of God. To discern if a move is truly of the Spirit, we must know it through the Spirit – not through our mental reasoning powers. We can know what is of the Holy Spirit, or from the human flesh, or from an evil spirit, by the operation of the revelation gifts of the Holy Spirit. The gift of the discerning of spirits is probably the most needed but neglected of the nine supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus warned that in these last days “even the elect would be deceived if that were possible.” Why is it not possible? – because of the gift of discerning of spirits.

We need to understand once more what the discerning of spirits is. Often we hear it called the gift of discernment. It’s not that. The New International Bible refers to this gift as distinguishing between spirits, and this is a more accurate definition.

Discernment is an operation of human wisdom in the area of the mind. It comes through the reasoning power of the mind. An unbeliever or a carnal Christian can operate in discernment.

T he gift of the discerning of, or distinguishing between spirits, is a supernatural gift of the Holy Spirit by which we receive supernatural revelation from the Holy Spirit directly into our spirits. It is a “knowing” that comes into our spirits by which we discern the nature of any spirit being manifested.

By its operation, we can discern the presence, nature and function of God, His angels, evil spirits or a human spirit. We can supernaturally know what is of God, what is of the flesh, or of the satanic kingdom. We will not be judging the action but knowing the spirit causing the action.

In this present renewal or revival, leaders must know each manifestation by the Spirit. Then they must operate in the gift of the discerning of spirits. They must operate in the gift of supernatural wisdom to know what to do when the manifestation is from the flesh or demonic in origin.

REVIVAL

Many people speak of a great end times revival that is going to hit the nations. So therefore many people are sitting back waiting on God to sweep through and ignite a passion in them.

That is not how it is going to happen. God has already done His part. Jesus already went to the cross, He gave us His Holy Spirit, gave us His Word, His angels, gifts, and countless testimonies of saints who have come before us.

God is not going to arbitrarily come upon you and stir you up against your will. 2 Timothy 1:6 says that YOU must stir up the gift.

So we are not waiting on God. God is waiting on US to get this party started…

The minute you realize who you are and begin step out in faith under the anointing of Christ, the healing power of God will flow like wildfire through your life, your family, and your community.

That is how the end time revival will take place

SICKNESS

GOD WANTS YOU SICK IS A LIE FROM THE PITS OF HELL! SICK PEOPLE CANNOT DO MUCH IN LIFE! IT’S THE DEVIL WHO MAKES PEOPLE SICK AS SEEN IN THE LIFE OF JOB AND IT’S GOD IN CHRIST JESUS WHO SAVES, HEALS, DELIVERS AND BLESSES THEM:

JOB 42:0    And the LORD restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before. 11    Then all his brothers, all his sisters, and all those who had been his acquaintances before, came to him and ate food with him in his house; and they consoled him and comforted him for all the adversity that the LORD had brought upon him. Each one gave him a piece of silver and each a ring of gold. 12    Now the LORD blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; for he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys. 13    He also had seven sons and three daughters. 14    And he called the name of the first Jemimah, the name of the second Keziah, and the name of the third Keren-Happuch. 15    In all the land were found no women so beautiful as the daughters of Job; and their father gave them an inheritance among their brothers. 16    After this Job lived one hundred and forty years, and saw his children and grandchildren for four generations. Acts 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.
