Sam Hinn may have returned to the ministry, but he brings with him some of the issues that forced his resignation after admitting an affair with a church member, said the pastor who first counseled Hinn.

Ron Johnson, pastor of One Church in Longwood, said Monday that Hinn walked out on a two-year restoration process after three months — leaving many of his problems unresolved. Johnson has counseled more than 20 ministers in crisis.

“In my mind, oftentimes these things are rooted in a narcissistic personality, and these things need to be addressed,” said Johnson, who was asked by leaders of The Gathering Place Worship Center to work with Hinn on his restoration.

Hinn was ordained again Sunday by a group of ministers seven months after he left his Sanford church following his admission about having a four-year affair.

“I am completely against it. In my mind, he has not fulfilled the requirements necessary for a man to step back into church leadership,” Johnson said.

Hinn is expected to take a teaching position with Tabernacle Bible College Seminary in Tampa. Seminary founder Archbishop Lonnie Langston was one of the ministers who performed the re-ordination.

Hinn, the younger brother of televangelist Benny Hinn, could not be contacted. Langston did not respond to a request for comment.

Johnson said Hinn, then a “broken man,” initially agreed to a restoration process that included staying away from ministry for a year, meeting with a clinical psychologist and keeping a journal.

“It’s a lengthy process worked out with systematic measurements that requires them [pastors] to be accountable to prove they have truly embraced a changed lifestyle,” Johnson said.

Hinn left the counseling program after trying to renegotiate the terms, Johnson said.

His quick return to the ministry came as no shock to the church member with whom he had an affair.

“I fully expected him to return to ministry. The time is no surprise to me,” Chris Wonder wrote in an email to the Orlando Sentinel.

Wonder said she began counseling shortly after Hinn’s resignation Jan. 20 and completed it May 31.

“The counseling opened my eyes to a lot & I’m very grateful to have gone through & completed it,” she wrote. “I would never allow this to happen in my life again as it broke Gods heart, the church & so many people.”

Hinn is not returning to The Gathering Place, which has a new minister, Johnson said.

“He could return to the pulpit,” Johnson said, “but my experience is men whose restoration is not deemed credible have seriously undermined their ministry and limited their opportunities.”

Another fallen TV evangelist sternly proclaimed that any pastor or evangelist who sinned should have to receive counselling and direction for at least two years. But, when he fell, he refused to be counselled or take a leave of absence. Proof of repentance is required or else it is just a matter of being sorry for being caught. The proof of repentance was necessary. Such was the case with Saul who proven to be faithful after a teaching period of 3 years in Arabia he went to Jerusalem to consult with Peter who was not there and saw James. Then it took Barnabas to introduce Paul to the apostles to prove that Paul was being faithful and preaching the Gospel and could be accepted (Acts 9: 26 – 28). Benny went back to doing what he was always doing in terms of “greed” and wasting money and doing his performances. The life-style proves that “greed” has its own reward and that is go back into a lifestyle similar to the Scribes and Pharisees who paid their tithes but “neglected justice and mercy and love of God” (Matt. 23: 23) and “neglected justice and love of God” (Lk. 11: 42). Their wasted of money will condemn them before God (Jas. 5: 1 – 5). It appears that Charisma loves (philos ) but not (agape) one brother over the other or they would have condemned both. This happens when anybody refuses to listen to the Barabases that Jesus sends to them today.

Was Money at the Root of Sam Hinn’s Rapid-Fire Restoration?

After a four-year affair and an eight-month restoration process, Sam Hinn, the brother of evangelist Benny Hinn, was re-ordained into the ministry on Sunday night at Bishop Mark Chironna’s Church on the Living Edge.

Although there have been other controversial restorations in the past—Jimmy Swaggart, Paul Cain and Todd Bentley are a few that come to mind—Hinn’s re-ordination is causing many in the body of Christ to take a closer look at what’s going on behind the scenes.

Why the rush back to ministry after a four-year affair?
Is this a symptom of the hypergrace movement?
Did money have something to do with it?

“I have to confess that when I heard about the plans to re-ordain Sam, I was upset. I told one of my ministry colleagues, ‘This is a joke and makes a mockery out of everything I hold dear and have spent my life proclaiming and upholding,’” wrote Pastor Ron Johnson, who was charged with overseeing Hinn’s restoration process.

“I outlined a two-year plan of restoration and walked through the initial stages with him. But after three months, Sam wanted to renegotiate the terms. When I wouldn’t agree to that, he withdrew from my covering and has since found a group of men willing to endorse his leadership in a more expeditious manner.”

So what’s going on here?

Clearly, there’s a strong disagreement among well-known leaders in the body of Christ over whether this man should have been released back into public ministry so quickly. In an age of the hypergrace movement—which is full of dangerous errors, such as denying the need for true repentance—re-ordaining a man who admitted to a four-year affair after less than a year smacks of grace wrongly applied. Grace (and forgiveness) is one thing. Restoring trust is another.

Noteworthy is the dichotomy of responses to Hinn’s restoration among lay believers and clergy alike. Some believe it was too soon. Others pull the legalistic card on anyone who suggests it was too soon. Still others point to money motivations. Let’s look at some of the Facebook responses to Johnson’s article:

“Look how the ‘Christian population’ treated Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Bakker. Yes, they did sin. Do you see them on TBN? Daystar? You will see Sam Hinn. It is disgusting. This is the reason so many good and decent Christians have stopped going to church,” Verla Toney wrote.

“Where in the Bible is this 2 year to restore thing? That’s an AG thing. Six weeks after Peter had a moral failure, he was having the first gospel crusade in history,” commented Peter A Vandever.

Beth Rank said, “Sam has shown by his actions that he is still in rebellion and not ready for ministry. I think the author has rightly discerned the situation and has done all that he could to help Sam. The men who have re-ordained Sam have done him a great disservice and will have to answer to a holy God because of it. These things are very, very serious … see 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1:5-11.”

“Who are we to judge? Leave that to God. He that is without sin cast the first stone? God is merciful,” noted Janis J Shepherd Harewood.

“When a minister has broken trust like this, it takes a lot of time to rebuild trust … even in his own family and marriage. It seems like when they want to rush back into ministry, they are caring more about how this has affected them instead of the impact it has had on those closest to him and the body of Christ. Ministry isn’t about the minister. It is about serving God’s people. Ministers who have failed should not be rushed back into the limelight!!!” Annette Houtz Compton wrote.

“How soon should a pastor be restored after falling into sin? How long does it take God to forgive one who repents of his sin?” commented Bishop Rodney Sanders.

“Narcissism at its finest these days. Holiness has been put on the shelf & out comes hyper grace. We need to get back to the fear of God (& this incident scares the mud out of me) instead of the fear & worship of man,” Bonnie Curry Stempel noted.

“Does God expect 2 years of groveling at the AofG? Or can God bring fruits of repentance in one single ALTER CALL OF POWER? From how I read this article he refused 2 years of his life being under the scrutiny of how bad he has been. God restores and give grace and mercy. Seems like he refused the AofG recommended penance of walking on his knees at their temple,” said Kris Koskella.

“He can’t wait to be restored. After all, there’s money to be made … is how tons of ppl are gonna read this,” speculated Laura Vernon Bull.

The divided responses show a divided body of Christ—and it also shows that there needs to be more discussion around how to restore a fallen leader. Sam Hinn wasn’t the first leader to fall, and he won’t be the last. I am grateful for Ron Johnson’s boldness to come out with a part of the story we would otherwise never have known—and in doing so starting a much-needed dialogue.

Personally, I believe a four-year affair requires more than an eight-month restoration process. And if Johnson, who has known Hinn for 30 years and has been involved in successfully restoring fallen ministers in the past, prayerfully laid out a two-year plan, then I believe it was necessary. As Johnson noted in his article, restoration is not only about forgiveness; it’s also about trust.

So what’s going on here? I don’t think this is a hypergrace error, but neither do I wonder why so many folks think money ultimately drove Hinn back into ministry just a few months after admitting to long-term sexual immorality. Hinn needs money to live on. Whatever motivated Chironna and Archbishop Lonnie Langston to re-ordain him so quickly, we can only pray that he doesn’t fall again and hurt more people in the rush back to ministry.

An Overseer’s Response to Sam Hinn’s Re-Ordination (and the Restoration of Other Fallen Leaders) 1:00PM EDT 8/12/2013 Ron Johnson

Whether you recognize Sam Hinn’s name or know nothing about the ministry of Benny Hinn’s younger brother, there’s an important issue in the body of Christ that needs to be addressed in light of Sam’s “re-ordination” on Sunday night in Orlando, Fla., only eight months after he stepped down from the pulpit due to a serious moral indiscretion.

This and other recent instances—both in Orlando and around the nation—prove that we, as the church, still struggle with how to restore fallen leaders.

When Sam’s four-year affair came to light, the board of his church, the Gathering Place (TGP), reached out to me because TGP wasn’t part of a ministerial association and because they knew I’d dealt with this numerous times in my 35 years of ministry. They also recognized that I’d known Sam for more than 30 years, having been pastor of a church nearby, and that I’d do anything I could to help them and him.

During that very difficult time, Sam submitted to my leadership. I outlined a two-year plan of restoration and walked through the initial stages with him. But after three months, Sam wanted to renegotiate the terms. When I wouldn’t agree to that, he withdrew from my covering and has since found a group of men willing to endorse his leadership in a more expeditious manner.

On Sunday, Bishop Mark Chironna, Archbishop Lonnie Langston and a handful of other leaders laid hands on Sam in a ceremony at Church on the Living Edge, also near where I pastor in Longwood, Fla. During the service, attended by fewer than 100 people, Chironna mentioned that Joseph Garlington, bishop of Covenant Church in Pittsburgh, was en route to the service and also among those fully backing Sam’s re-ordination.

I have to confess that when I heard about the plans to re-ordain Sam, I was upset. I told one of my ministry colleagues, “This is a joke and makes a mockery out of everything I hold dear and have spent my life proclaiming and upholding.”

I feel now that I must speak up after personally reaching out to several of the leaders involved in this re-ordination—including Sam—but getting no real response from my voicemails and text messages.

Obviously, these men believe Sam is ready for ministry. Though I love Sam dearly and want him to be restored, I strongly disagree with this. In fact, it’s because I love him that I cry out now.

I sat with Sam for hours immediately after the four-year affair was disclosed and counseled him. He was indeed a broken man. I also sat with his precious wife, Erika, and their children in perhaps the darkest hours of their life. I sought to do all I could to bring them through this tragic ordeal. So I believe in restoration.

But this is not what it looks like!

I have dealt multiple times in myriad places with leaders who have fallen. I have seen the pain and devastation their sinful actions cause. On the flip side, I have also seen fallen leaders find healing and be fully restored to not only productive lives but, yes, fruitful ministry.

Because of this, I feel I must speak out on what is happening. The truth is, this is not as much about Sam Hinn as it is a bigger issue in the church.

Restoration is a not a quick fix but a systematic process of transformation that deals with a person’s deep-seated sinful and narcissistic tendencies. These are the issues at the core of these problems and the cause of these failures in the first place.

The restoration process begins with deep sorrow and brokenness over failure and sin. (And I must add here that I sincerely believe Sam is sorry for his sinful failure.) However, a person must then move past that remorse to concrete action. The Bible teaches that we must bring forth the fruit of repentance (Matt. 3:8; Luke 3:8). The only way I know if a person has truly repented is not by what he says but by what he does. It is through demonstrating a tested, proven lifestyle of change that I can know. Then and only then can I know it’s real. That is fruit!

This does not happen in seven to eight months when there have been four years of constant sinful behavior.

I know many who will say, “Aren’t we supposed to forgive and move on? Isn’t what you are suggesting ignoring God’s grace?” Absolutely not! Restoration is not only about forgiveness, but also about trust. We are all called to forgive just as Christ has forgiven us. Sam asked for and received my total forgiveness—as he’s done with numerous people in his life.

However, trust must be earned. Only when a person is serious enough to take the time to fix what he has broken and systematically walk out a process of transformation should we trust again.

At the risk of being called a legalist, I am standing up and letting my voice be heard. I, for one, am tired of picking up the pieces from this kind moral collapse. During my involvement with Sam’s restoration, I drove a stake in the ground, and I wasn’t going to move it. It was my opinion that in many places, what he had done would permanently disqualify him, so he should be thankful for a two-year time out. Furthermore, I think two years is a minimum to deal with the issues resulting from a four-year affair. But evidently you can shop bishops until you get the answer you like.

I also believe that professional clinical counseling is a necessary part of any restoration. If I stand on a public platform and influence the lives of others, there needs to be public disclosure in some form regarding my psychological fitness to serve in that capacity before I return. If I am teaching God’s Word and caring for the eternal souls of men and women, I must be a well-balanced person myself. In Sam’s case, I question the wisdom of installing him as a teacher at a Bible school guiding young students—which is what he and the leaders announced on Sunday that he’ll be doing as a part of an Orlando extension of Langston’s Tabernacle Bible College and Seminary.

It takes time to test and prove a healthy, sound mind and heart. I realize this may seem costly and exact a lot, but another failure is even more costly and exacts an even higher price.

For the sake of the name of Jesus and His church as well as the people affected by this kind of behavior, let’s demand a higher standard and not bless quick fixes to long-term problems!

Sam Hinn Getting Re-Ordained 8 Months After Sexual Misconduct

Less than eight months after Sam Hinn stepped down from the pulpit of his Orlando-area church amid a sexual scandal, the younger brother of evangelist Benny Hinn is being publicly re-ordained on Sunday.

Bishop Mark Chironna, founder and senior pastor of Church on the Living Edge in Longwood, Fla., sent out a phone message to the church’s members this week announcing that Hinn would be “re-ordained” by Chironna, Archbishop Lonnie Langston and six other bishops. The message indicated that Langston, founder of Tabernacle Bible College and Seminary, would be installing Hinn as a professor at the Tampa, Fla., school.

Neither Chironna nor Langston returned Charisma News’ calls seeking comment on the re-ordination, but the message from Chironna’s ministry said:

“This Sunday evening at 7:30, Bishop Lonnie Langston and a presbytery of 6 other pastors and bishops, including myself, are gonna be re-ordaining Pastor Sam Hinn at Church on the Living Edge. And I want to encourage as many of you that love Pastor Sam to come out and be a part of that.

“I’ve been part of the presbytery team in Pastor Sam’s journey in the last number of months with everything that’s gone on—and the bishops and pastors are all in hearty agreement that it’s time to re-ordain Pastor Sam as he’s gonna be working with the Tabernacle Bible College and Seminary as a professor. And we want to affirm that he’s doing well and he certainly is, and that his family is doing well and they certainly are.

“And so Sunday night is gonna be a very special night—if you have any relationship at all with Pastor Sam, I know that he’d be blessed if you would be a part of that. So, I wanna let everyone know that’s a special—special night; and we would love for you to join us and be part of that on Sunday evening at 7:30.”

Earlier this year, Hinn admitted to allowing himself “to be drawn into a relationship that has caused much hurt and pain to my wife and family. I have repented and asked for and received their forgiveness. Scripture states that I must bring forth the fruit of repentance if I expect to be restored.”

Hinn served as pastor of the Gathering Place Worship Center in Sanford, Fla., which holds two morning services attended by about 300 people each, plus a small Arabic service on Sunday afternoon. When Hinn admitted to an immoral relationship that lasted more than four years, the church board said, “Pastor Sam Hinn has been relieved of all ministry responsibilities and as the official board, we have outlined a restoration process. This process includes pastoral and professional counseling, as well as a mandatory time out of ministry so that all fractures in both his personal and family life may be healed.”

Benny Hinn’s brother Sam accused of extramarital affair –

Sanford Pastor Sam Hinn engaged in a four-year love affair with a member of his congregation before being confronted by his wife and church officials, prompting him to step away from the pulpit, according to the woman’s family.

Chantel Wonder said Hinn, the younger brother of televangelist Benny Hinn, initiated the affair with her mother by telling her they were “soul mates” and that God approved of the relationship.

“He put her in a position that this is OK because it’s what God wants. He was using God to justify it,” said Wonder, 28, of St. Petersburg.

Wonder said her father became aware of the affair in December 2008 after he found text and voice messages from Hinn on his wife’s phone. At the time, his wife denied the affair. The couple, who were married June 20, 1980, divorced on Feb. 14, 2012.

Wonder said Hinn, who is married and has four children, continued the affair after her parents divorced. She said church officials confronted Hinn with evidence of the affair in December 2012, but he refused to admit he was involved with the woman.

On Jan. 14, Hinn denied the allegations of an affair to his wife, but promised not to talk to the woman again, Wonder said. Later the same day, she said, Hinn’s car was photographed parked outside her mother’s apartment.

On Wednesday, church officials read Hinn’s letter to the congregation, in which he says, “…I am taking a leave of absence from any and all ministry so I can focus my full energy on both my walk with God and restoration in my family.”

Church officials also released a statement that the board has initiated a restoration process for Hinn that involves the counsel of Ron Johnson, pastor of One Church in Longwood.

“This process includes Pastoral and Professional Counseling, as well as a mandatory time out of ministry so that all factures in both his personal and family life may be healed,” the statement says.

Chantel Wonder said this isn’t enough.

“He’ll be back in a couple of months as senior pastor, and that’s just not right,” said Wonder, who fears the church will shift all the blame on her mother.

Wonder said both her parents were involved in church activities. Her father was an usher and both were engaged in Bible study.

Her mother, who works as a hairstylist, eventually become the stylist for Hinn’s family, including his wife and children, Wonder said.

Larry Tomczak says the way Christians are raising money today is ridiculous.Let’s suppose you are closing out your day with some salsa and chips when you flip on the television. You wince as you witness a repeat performance–not of another episode of Survivor but of a high-powered, high-pressure appeal for money during a talk show on your local Christian station.”Ohhh, the anointing is so strong right now,” the host says. “You need to give while the anointing is here!”You believe in the anointing of God and in the power of prayer. You love and appreciate many of the people on this TV program and you know God uses them.You certainly don’t want to be critical. So you close your eyes, shake your head in disgust and turn off the set.

“This is embarrassing,” you say to yourself. “Something isn’t right. Lord, I don’t understand–does it have to be this way?”

I know how you feel. I have seen this in church services and conferences and some of the same thoughts have surfaced in me.

Over the next several days you find yourself in conversations with Christian friends. Somehow the topic of Christian fundraising is mentioned.

The other people have strong opinions, from “It makes me sick” to “As soon as I see that stuff I turn off the TV.”

I wish this craziness were the exception, but it seems it is becoming the rule. During one recent week I turned on the tube and witnessed the following:

*In a highly charged atmosphere, a motivational speaker told her audience to shout “Amen!” She was flanked by a group of nodding, hand-clapping and hand-waving supporters. “Slap someone in agreement,” she said.

Agreement with what? The speaker quoted Psalm 71:21 and promised if viewers would pledge $71.21 a month for 12 months ($854.52) that God had told her He would give them “increase and greatness.”

The evangelist continued: “He’ll stop that lawsuit. … Greatness will be released in your job and finances and ministry and marriage even if you don’t have the resources or have two nickels to your name or don’t have a man to support you! Go to that phone and pledge $71.21 a month, and I prophesy to you that God will increase your greatness! Give now!”

*A well-dressed “bishop” who divorced his wife and remarried one week later forcefully told his audience to “obey the prophet of God and give.” He said God gave him a word for the young people: “You are in tremendous credit card debt, but if you’ll get up and pledge money and put it on your credit card, God will intervene for you. Don’t let anything hinder you. Today salvation comes to your house.”

(I wish I could remind this guy of Proverbs 22:26-27. It says that if you foolishly go into debt your very bed will be snatched from under you.)

*Another internationally known church leader told his TV audience that eight men were supposed to give $1 million each in the offering. “You have a choice,” he told them. “Obey God and win or disobey God and keep losing. You will lose God’s blessing! Go! And praise God while you’re dialing the phone.”

*Another leader used this hook to urge viewers to pledge money: “The more you pledge, the more protection you’ll have from God.” During other broadcasts this person had implied that people would be healed if they would sow money into his ministry!

I can’t help but remember the account of Simon the sorcerer in Acts 8:9-21. His greed lured him to ask Peter if he could buy the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

Peter rebuked him sharply and said: “May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God” (NIV).

Stop the Madness!

The people I have described are sincere, but they are also misleading God’s people. And if we don’t bring some correction to their behavior soon the testimony of the American church will be ruined.

Referring to finances, the apostle Paul told the Corinthian church that their credibility was vital. “We want to avoid any criticism of the way we administer this liberal gift. For we are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of men” (2 Cor. 8:20-21).

Can we say this today in our churches and ministries when we raise funds? Personally, I believe things have gotten so out of hand that our meek and mild Jesus is picking up His whip to cleanse the temple one more time.

It’s time to halt pressure-laden, deceptive, unbiblical, gimmicky practices that grieve God and hurt the cause of Christ–especially when we try to reach unbelievers. It’s time to demote slick pulpit marketers who offer different colored “prayer bears,” “prosperity bracelets” and other silly trinkets.

What’s next? Action figures and bobble-head dolls of our favorite TV preachers?

Paul admonished the church at Rome that God’s name was being blasphemed among the Gentiles because of them (see Rom. 2:24). What would he say about us?

I am not a detached, armchair critic. I’ve been in the ministry more than 30 years in both local church and parachurch work. I know the financial pressures are real.

I also know God is a God of abundance and prosperity, and I believe He honors the generosity of sincere people–even if they are wrongly pressured. I also thank God for multitudes of ministers who do display sensitivity and integrity in raising funds. (Thanks to Billy Graham for 50-plus years of a superb example!)

In year’s past, when church giving declined nationwide, I had to revise my local church budget, lay off a friend from a job, pray for a financial miracle and ask God a lot of questions about our goals.

My congregation got so desperate for God’s presence and provision that we shut down every church activity (we even closed our office!) so we could seek God from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. for an entire week. Our choice was simple: Either trust the flesh or trust God.

When a church or ministry reaches a point of need, it makes sense to push the pause button and examine whether God’s work truly is being done in God’s way. Hudson Taylor, pioneer missionary to China, said this: “God’s work, done in God’s way, will never lack God’s supply.”

If God promised to supply all our needs, then shouldn’t we evaluate if our current “needs” are actually “wants”? We may realize that we have wandered off-course.

How many ministry leaders make desperate pleas for projects that God never originated? Rather than manufacture a crisis by going on a fundraising binge (“We must raise $50,000 by the 31st, or we’ll have to shut down!”) maybe we should be honest and admit God is using lack to get our attention!

Supernatural Provision

We’ve seen awesome financial miracles in my church. At the end of the year we were struggling we realized we needed $30,000 to meet our budget.

After praying we informed people of the need. We requested prayer, reviewed biblical passages and invited a Spirit-led response.

While I was driving to our office on New Year’s Eve, I stopped by a post office. A man I’d never met popped out of the lobby and smiled. “I saw you deposit your mail and felt God wanted you to know He’s making a deposit in your account today,” he said to me.

That afternoon a flurry of checks arrived. By the time the ball dropped at Times Square to signal the New Year, God had met our need with $30,500!

I know God can provide. And I know He loves to pour out His extravagant love for us by meeting our needs. But we must stop misusing His Word and misrepresenting His character with our disgusting circus antics.

If we excuse ourselves by saying we couldn’t care less what the world thinks of our financial pleas, the perception among growing numbers of both Christians and nonbelievers will continue to be that something is rotten in our ranks.

Whether we like it or not, perception is reality. We are turning people off, especially the younger “make it real” generation, when we manipulate people to fill offering plates.

Have we forgotten what happened to Jim Bakker and his PTL ministry?

“As the true impact of Jesus’ words regarding money impacted my heart and mind, I became physically nauseated,” Bakker wrote in his book I Was Wrong after his release from prison. “I was wrong. I was wrong! Wrong in my lifestyle, certainly, but even more fundamentally, wrong in my understanding of the Bible’s true message. Not only was I wrong, but I was teaching the opposite of what Jesus had said.”

All of us need to ask ourselves if our attitude is “anything goes” in our church or ministry fund raising. Consider the following three guidelines related to finances.

1. Giving begins in the local church. According to the Bible, every Christian should be “added” to a church family and should financially support the church leadership with their tithes (see Acts 2:41-42; Gal. 6:6; 1 Tim. 5:17-18; 1 Cor. 9:3-12). To avoid draining off resources or competing with others, early Christians entrusted their funds to the leaders for distribution of needs and even channeled additional funds to a needy cause through their local church (see Acts 4:34-35; 1 Cor. 16:2).

This parallels the Old Testament model, in which most giving was directed primarily to a centralized location (the temple) for distribution by the leaders (the Levites). Additional giving (above and beyond basic tithes and offerings in this context) was seen as “freewill offerings”–similar to our giving today to worthy evangelistic causes, mercy ministries and so on.

John Chrysostom, a father of the early church, observed church giving in A.D. 390 and stated that the believers “did not dare to put their offering into the hands of the needy, nor give it with lofty condescension, but they laid it at the feet of the apostles and made them the masters and distributors of the gift. What a man needed was then taken from the treasury of the community, not from the private property of individuals. Thereby the givers did not become arrogant.”

2. We need guidelines for fundraising.The father of all modern fund raising is George Müller (1805-1898). He established orphanages in England and provided for thousands of needy children. I’ve visited these former homes and pondered how God faithfully supplied all the needs without any inappropriate sales techniques or high-pressure manipulation.

Müller’s guidelines are relevant for correcting much of the current fund-raising abuses, although I would add one qualifier to his first point: soliciting monetary help (see guidelines below).

Though I respect those who have a preference for never making specific needs known, I do believe there is biblical support for doing so (as Paul did with the Philippians and Corinthians) as long as information, not manipulation, is being shared. When Jesus said to give, not letting your left hand know what the right is doing (see Matt. 6:3), He was addressing motive, not method.

Müller’s guidelines state:
* No funds should ever be solicited. No facts or figures concerning needs are to be revealed by the workers in the orphanage to anyone, except to God in prayer. [This is not a biblical mandate, but it is interesting that Müller’s work was fully supported in this manner.]
* No debt should ever be incurred.
* Money contributed for a specific purpose should never be used for any other purpose.
* All accounts should be audited annually by professional auditors.
* No ego pandering by publication of donors’ names with the amount of their gifts. Each donor should be thanked privately.
* No prominent or titled persons should be sought for the board or to advertise the institution.
*The success of the institution should be measured not by the numbers served or by the amounts of money taken in but by God’s blessing on the work, which is expected to be in proportion to the time spent in prayer.

3. We need to use discernment. It’s time for the 21st century church to clean house or prepare to have Jesus clean our clocks as He did with the money changers of His day. We must not procrastinate or continue staging this embarrassing financial circus.

Chrysostom’s words to greedy church leaders of his day need to be heard in our generation: “You have taken possession of the resources that belong to Christ and you consume them aimlessly. Don’t you realize that you are going to be held accountable?”

Years ago some Anglican bishops in Africa took a courageous stand for financial integrity. When the Episcopal Church in the United States voted to ordain a practicing homosexual clergyman in August 2003, the African leaders announced they would not take any money from the American denomination. Then they exhorted the U.S. Episcopalians to repent.

Although the African Anglicans have great financial needs, Archbishop Peter Akinola of Nigeria said this: “If we suffer for a while to gain our independence and our freedom and to build ourselves up, I think it will be a good thing for the church in Africa. And we will not, on the altar of money, mortgage our conscience, mortgage our faith, mortgage our salvation.”

Imagine that! Rejecting offers of money to stay pure before God.

Maybe we can act similarly–putting principle before pragmatism–with our finances. We need to fix our eyes on the eternal priorities of the kingdom instead of the temporal needs of our flesh.

Let’s repent of our dullness and disobedience. Let’s realign our standards with God’s. Then our hearts will be prepared to receive–should God open the windows of heaven and pour out an overflowing blessing.

Let’s Get Blunt About It

Ten questions to ask before you give money to ministries:

1. Are the people who are asking for money modeling Christlikeness and servanthood or salesmanship and self-promotion?
2. Are they exalting Jesus Christ or exalting people and ministries?
3. Do they model prayerful dependency on God, or do they use pressure and manipulation to incite others to give?
4. Do they give people an opportunity to quietly and patiently hear from God, or do they insist that the giving must be done “now” or “instantly”?
5. Is there evidence of humility, purity and integrity in their demeanor and presentation, or do they use insincere hype, pushiness and striving?
6. Do they offer a sincere, faith-building presentation of Scriptures and testimonies or misleading promises and fear-inducing suggestions?
7. Does this ministry have a record of spiritual fruit that honors God, or is their reputation marred by unsubstantiated claims and exaggerated reports?
8. Do the people asking for money have godly lifestyles of humility and servanthood, or do they live as pampered people who require egotistical titles and lavish living?
9. Is the ministry financially accountable, or are false assurances used to gain credibility?
10. Do they ever imply that giving in an offering will increase a person’s spiritual gifts or level of anointing?

Three Steps to True Biblical Abundance

When the Holy Spirit came to earth, as recorded in Acts 2, the church saw three things happen:

Multitudes were saved.

Multitudes were healed.

Great abundance came to the believers.

The Bible tells us:

And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold. (Acts 4:33-34)

Our Lord Jesus promised: “And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life” (Matthew 19:29).

We not only have everlasting life, but we will receive an abundant harvest in this life!

Divine prosperity is God’s will for you!

All you and I have to do is simply obey the Lord: “Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do” (Deuteronomy 29:9).

Divine prosperity is the legal right of every covenant child of God: “But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day” (Deuteronomy 8:18).

It’s not God’s will for any to perish, nor is it His will for any of us to live in sickness or in poverty. Poverty comes only when the Word of God is disobeyed, for we are given this promise: “Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured” (Proverbs 13:18).

Honor means favor in your life, your family, and your business dealings: “The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.” (Deuteronomy 28:8).

When we obey the Word of God, prosperity will be the immediate result: “If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures” (Job 36:11).

Obedience, Prosperity, and the Coming Wealth Transfer

So simply put, prosperity is the result of obedience to God’s Word, not the result of luck or chance.

The Bible tells us true prosperity is found in the house of the righteous, not the house of the wicked: “Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner” (Proverbs 13:6).

In fact, the wicked one day soon will lose their wealth so you might gain it: “A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just” (Proverbs 13:22).

Debt is not the will of God for you. Debt is bondage like any other bondage. Proverbs 22:7 tells us, “The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.”

Debt is pure bondage. God’s will is for you to be delivered from that bondage. That liberty is yours, and it can come to you quickly. All you have to do is put the Lord first in your life and obey His law.

Obedience—Three Steps

Specifically, what does obeying Him involve?

The first step in obeying Him comes through loving and seeking Him: “I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me” (Proverbs 8:17). As a result, abundance will come our way: “That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures” (Proverbs 8:21).

The next step in obeying is giving. As a result of loving Him, we will obey His law and give as He commanded us to give to His work: “Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine” (Proverbs 3:9-10). We love Him, and, as a result, we obey Him by giving.

Then we call on Him, asking for Him to prosper us. Do not be ashamed to ask God to prosper you. It is His pleasure to pour abundance upon you because of your obedience, but you must also ask for it. Don’t just sow for it, but ask for it. David prayed specifically for prosperity: “Save now, I beseech thee, O Lord: O Lord, I beseech thee, send now prosperity” (Psalm 118:25).

It’s time to put our Lord Jesus first!

It’s time to sow into His work and obey Him!

It’s time for you to pray earnestly that God will prosper you!

Sow your seed now with mighty expectation for today and the future, for our Lord Jesus declared, “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again” (Luke 6:38).

This is your time to prosper and secure your financial future!

Your Supernatural Wealth Transfer Is Coming By Benny Hinn

The Word of God says, “Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause” (Psalm 35:27). That means, those who support the Gospel, here spoken of as His “righteous cause,” will shout for joy and be glad! We are seeing glorious victories on earth today as the Gospel is being preached to the nations of the world, and millions are coming into the kingdom.

That verse continues, “Yea, let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.” It is God’s will that you prosper!

In fact, the Word of God explains that we are coming into a time when we will see a glorious transfer of wealth for the preaching of the Gospel, for the financing of the end-time harvest. The day will come when the wealth of the sinner will be given to the righteous: “A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just” (Proverbs 13:22).

There have already been six wealth transfers on earth and one is on the way:

1. Abraham. In Genesis 12:10, when famine struck the land, Abram went down to Egypt. While there, the Egyptians saw Sarai’s beauty and spoke of her to Pharaoh, who decided to take her for a wife. Believing that Sarai was Abram’s sister, Pharaoh entreated Abram and gave him sheep, oxen, servants, cattle, and much wealth (verse 16). After the Lord had plagued Pharaoh and he discovered that Sarai was actually Abram’s wife, he eventually gave her back. But Pharaoh never asked for the wealth back. The Bible even tells us, “Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south. And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold” (Genesis 13:1-2). It was the first recorded wealth transfer from the wicked to the righteous.

2. Isaac. Once again there was famine in the land, and Isaac went to Abimelech of the Philistines (Genesis 26:1). Then we see something amazing happen: “Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the Lord blessed him. And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great: For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him” (verses 12-14). Here again we see a wealth transfer. Not only did Isaac inherit the wealth from his father, Abraham, but he also received a great wealth transfer from Abimelech—so much so that eventually the Philistine told Isaac, “Go from us; for thou art much mightier than we” (verse 16).
Notice that both Abraham’s and Isaac’s wealth transfers took place in times of famine. Your prosperity is not dependent upon the world’s conditions. It is dependent upon the Word of God!

3. Jacob. Another great wealth transfer took place when God gave Jacob the wealth of Laban. Jacob said, “Ye know that with all my power I have served your father. And your father hath deceived me, and changed my wages ten times; but God suffered him not to hurt me. If he said thus, The speckled shall be thy wages; then all the cattle bare speckled: and if he said thus, The ringstraked shall be thy hire; then bare all the cattle ringstraked. Thus God hath taken away the cattle of your father, and given them to me” (Genesis 31:6-9).

4. Joseph. Joseph received the wealth of the superpower Egypt: “Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art: Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt. And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph’s hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck; And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I am Pharaoh, and without thee shall no man lift up his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt” (Genesis 41:39-44). Imagine! God gave his servant Joseph the wealth of the entire nation. Pharaoh even gave Joseph control of all of Egypt’s business and economy.

5. Israel. God promised Moses that when the Israelites came out of Egypt, they would leave with the wealth of the Egyptians: “I am sure that the king of Egypt will not let you go, no, not by a mighty hand. And I will stretch out my hand, and smite Egypt with all my wonders which I will do in the midst thereof: and after that he will let you go. And I will give this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, ye shall not go empty: But every woman shall borrow of her neighbour, and of her that sojourneth in her house, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: and ye shall put them upon your sons, and upon your daughters; and ye shall spoil the Egyptians” (Exodus 3:19-22). Can you imagine what happened that night after God had slain all the firstborn males throughout Egypt? Think of what it was like when the Israelites went to the Egyptians, who had just lost sons and been ruined by all the plagues. Yet these same Egyptians gave them their wealth. That was truly a miracle of transfer!

6. King Solomon. In the sixth biblical wealth transfer, God Almighty not only gave Solomon the wealth of one nation, but the wealth of the nations of the world: “King Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth for riches and for wisdom” (1 Kings 10:23). Think about it! He was the richest man on the planet because of God’s great power and favor!

7. You. Next in line for a great wealth transfer is you! “The wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just” (Proverbs 13:22). Here is why—the Lord wants to give you the wealth of the sinner to establish His covenant: “Thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day” (Deuteronomy 8:18). His covenant is the Gospel of Jesus Christ, His Son, for the nations! God will give you the wealth of the sinner so you can support the preaching of the Gospel to the world!

The Lord said, “Though he heap up silver as the dust, and prepare raiment as the clay; He may prepare it, but the just shall put it on, and the innocent shall divide the silver” (Job 27:16-17).

This wealth transfer is just around the corner! Get ready!

Catherine wrote on March 7, 2011 and stated I watched a little TBN yesterday to see if these preachers are still as bold as ever and I couldn’t believe it…First there was Benny Hinn actually asking for his $600,000 attorney’s fees. He was trying to come off as an “Oh, shucks” victim of his divorce… he’s “being attacked”…. but he “prayed and prayed about it”… but what he DIDN’T do was simply get rid of the lawyers and do what a real Christian would do.. settle it on the courthouse steps, turn the other cheek, perhaps… He actually asked his sheep to pay his legal fees! Now… why don’t I have $600,000 legal fees? How does a person accrue $600,000 in legal fees? Why would he ask his sheep to feed the world’s system for his own personal benefit? And then the next show was Mark Chirona… ahhh… Bishop, Prophet, Doctor, Apostle, Master AND Life Coach….Mark Chirona, I went to see him once and he truly believes he’s a Vegas Act…with the outfits and singing to the captive audiences. But anyway, I only caught the part where he actually said, “By the time I say “3″, I want you to call in with your donation. One…. Two….THREE!!! ” How’s THAT for a tactic? He is now Benny Hinn’s new chair warmer on his TV show. Others don’t come back, but there’s Mark, probably getting 20% of the proceeds for sitting in Benny’s chair.

The word of God says: now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lust which drowns men in destruction and perdition. The Third Wave Movement is a Pentecostal or Charismatic movement that began in the 1980s. It is sometimes called the “Third Wave of the Holy Spirit” or the “Signs and Wonders Movement.” The name “Third Wave” was coined by C. Peter Wagner, a professor at Fuller Theological Seminary. He referred to the movement as the “Third Wave” because this was the third of three distinct Pentecostal/Charismatic movements in modern Christianity. The first wave was the original Pentecostal Movement that began in the early 1900s with the teachings of Charles Parham followed by the Azusa Street Revival. The second wave then came in the 1960s with the Charismatic movement. In the Charismatic movement, Pentecostal doctrines, teachings and practices began to spread to non-Pentecostal churches and denominations. This wave brought increased popularity to the “Word of Faith” or “Name It and Claim It” false teachings that are still popular today.

Then, in the 1980s, another “movement of the Holy Spirit,” supposedly characterized by “signs and wonders,” began in the Vineyard Church with the teachings of Charles Wimber, Mike Bickle, C. Peter Wagner, Jack Deere, and others. Professor Wagner characterized this Third Wave as being “a new moving of the Holy Spirit among evangelicals who, for one reason or another, have chosen not to identify with either the Pentecostals or Charismatics.” Also known as the Neo-Charismatic Movement, this Third Wave of Pentecostal doctrine and excess became very popular and led to many aberrant teachings such as the Toronto Blessing and laughing in the Spirit.

In addition to highlighting some of the melodramatic practices of the Pentecostal and Charismatic movements, the Third Wave goes even further with its emphasis on the sensational, including claims of signs and wonders performed by “modern-day apostles and prophets.”

Key teachings of the Third Wave Movement include what is known as “power evangelism.” The basic premise of power evangelism is that the preaching of the gospel must be accompanied with signs and wonders in order for people to respond in faith. Proponents of this view have an unbalanced focus on miracles, speaking in tongues, healing and prophecy. They miss the fact that it is the gospel message itself that is the power of God to salvation (Romans 1). Third Wave proponents essentially deny the sufficiency of Scripture and believe that God is communicating directly though modern-day prophets and apostles. Therefore, they believe that God is giving new revelation today which undermines the sufficiency and authority of Scripture. The words of these “new apostles and prophets” become more important than the clear teaching of Scripture. As with MANY Pentecostal/Charismatic movements, personal experience plays a greater role for determining “truth” than does sound doctrine.

The Third Wave is yet another movement that is based on people’s experience rather than on sound doctrine. Proponents of the Third Wave Movement believed that it would bring forth end-time apostles and prophets to do greater miracles than were performed by Old Testament prophets or New Testament apostles. These “new apostles and prophets” were said to be greater than any prophet or apostle that had preceded them. This teaching has resulted in many false prophets coming out of Third Wave churches.

Since its beginning in the 1980s, the Third Wave Movement has sparked a large number of counterfeit revivals. As the movement evolved, unbiblical practices such as “laughing in the spirit” continued to get more and more bizarre. In recent years some Third Wave leaders and churches have begun to separate themselves from some of the more aberrant practices and are trying to move back to more traditional Charismatic practices. This Third Wave of Pentecostalism has left in its wake a history of false teachings and destructive practices. Many have been led astray.

THE THIRD WAVE FLUFF AND STUFF

Just because some have perverted prosperity I am not going to lump them all together and throw it out. The Bible does teach that God wants to prosper us and healing is available to us that believe. You have extremes in all doctrine and in every camp/denomination etc. That is not true that health and wealth ends with man, and signs and wonders with Jesus. I have seen more extremes and fruit loops in the signs and wonders camp than anywhere else. Chasing non biblical signs and wonders that have nothing to do with Jesus. I hear more of Jesus being preached and sound biblical teaching from Word of Faith then the others. When gold dust, gold teeth and so called angel feathers are chased (and I have seen people crawling around on the floor looking for gold dust, gems etc) over an encounter with the Lord something is wrong. There is more preaching about the fluff and stuff then Jesus! Time and time again people have been caught planting such foolishness. So this camp is no better where exalting Jesus is concerned then those that do pollute the prosperity message. I am all about the glory of God and His presence, but a lot of the foolishness going on with the signs and wonders camp are no better than the extremes of some in Word of Faith. The Bible tells us what signs believers are to expect and they are to follow us, not us chase after them!

US Order To Shutdown Millions Of Christian Websites Shocks World

A shocking report authored by the office of Russia’s top religious leader Patriarch Kirill I states that this past week the United States ordered over 10 million Christian websites destroyed that they claimed were a “threat” to their National Security and that the American Internet giant Google quickly responded by making them all disappear.

According to this report, Google first came under assault from the US government in June when the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced that they had launched an investigation into the company, a move defended against by top Google executive Amit Singhal who aside from claiming the attacks against them were baseless said, “At Google, we’ve always focused on putting the user first.”

After weeks of unrelenting pressure upon them, however, this past week Google, which had refused to answer the baseless charges against them, caved to the US government and announced that their Chairman, Eric Schmidt, who had previously said the charges against them were nonsense, agreed to testify before a US Senate Committee under threat of subpoena.

On the very same day that Google caved into these US governments demands, this report continues, they then announced that they had blacklisted and banned over 11 million websites that had been registered for free through the co.cc subdomain the world over. Giving as its reason for this largest in history removal of private websites Google asserted that it had the right to pull the plug on sites if they “see a very large fraction of sites on a specific freehost be spammy or low-quality.”

Co.cc is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Cocos (Keeling) Islands, an Australian territory. It is administered by VeriSign through a subsidiary company eNIC, which promotes it for international registration as “the next .com”; .cc was originally assigned in October 1997 to eNIC Corporation of Seattle WA by the IANA.

Most important to note about the .cc domain, this report points out, is its being preferred by Churches and Christian organizations around the world as “CC” also happens to be an abbreviation for “Christian Church” or “Catholic Church,” especially in Islamic Nations where due to strict laws against Christianity these free co.cc websites were the only way those belonging to this faith were able to communicate with each other.

In this Patriarch Kirill I report as to the “true reason” for the US ordered government shutdown of millions of Christian websites in Islamic Nations it states is the “fundamental shift” undertaken by the Obama regime to support radical Muslim elements instead of the once secular Arab leaders it once did.

The most crucial US turnaround in this regard happened this past week, and as we can read, in part, as reported by the Front Page Magazine News Service:

“The Obama administration is set to begin formal contacts with the Muslim Brotherhood, a group dedicated in its own words to “eliminating and destroying Western civilization from within, and sabotaging its miserable house.”

This news came in a Reuters report Wednesday, quoting a “senior U.S. official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.” Why this official felt it necessary to speak on condition of anonymity is a mystery, given the fact that Barack Obama has never made a secret of his solicitude for the Muslim Brotherhood. Even though the Brotherhood was still outlawed in Egypt at that time, he made a point of inviting leaders of the group to attend his speech to the Islamic world in Cairo on June 4, 2009.

Not only that. Obama included the leader of a Muslim Brotherhood-linked group that had been named an unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas terror funding case among the clerics giving a prayer during his inauguration ceremonies: Ingrid Mattson, then-president of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), offered this prayer at the National Cathedral on Obama’s Inauguration Day – despite the fact that ISNA has admitted its ties to the Brotherhood. In fact, so overwhelming is the evidence of ISNA’s involvement with the Brotherhood and Hamas that the previous summer, federal prosecutors had rejected a request from ISNA to remove its unindicted co-conspirator status. Obama even sent his Senior Adviser Valerie Jarrett to be the keynote speaker at ISNA’s national convention in 2009.”

This gravest danger posed by the US ordered destruction of these millions of Christian websites, this report continues, involves the estimated 20 million Coptic Christians now living in Egypt who, should the Muslim Brotherhood gain control, would face the removal from their homes of all of their children so they could be “educated” in Islamic schools as converts to the Muslim faith.

US author Brad O’Leary in his book “America’s War On Christianity” warns that no one should be surprised about these things as many US regimes, including Obama’s, have waged a decades long war against this faith in their attempt to eradicate it from all forms of public expression, even to outlawing school children from even mentioning the words “God,” “Bible,” or “Jesus Christ” under threat of imprisonment.

Even worse, shocking news is now coming from the United States that the Obama regime has ordered that the words “God Bless” and “Jesus Christ” cannot be used even when burying their military dead, and as we can read, in part, as reported by the Christian Post News Service:

“Texas Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison is calling for an investigation into the actions of the Houston National Cemetery director who told pastors and veterans groups to stop using words like “God bless” and “Jesus Christ” during funeral services. Several veterans groups and pastors in the Houston area filed a religious discrimination lawsuit this week, charging that the cemetery’s director, Arleen Ocasio, was censoring prayers and certain religious terms at funerals for veterans.”

Most appalling of all of these things is the vast majority of the American people allowing their once cherished Christian values of home, family and morality to be continued to be stripped away from them with nary a protest as if they have completely forgotten that their religion would have never survived without the countless millions who martyred their lives, including Jesus, so their faith could survive.

To the horrific future lying in store for Christians living in America today should come as no surprise either as prior to his election as President, Obama stated in response to them, “…it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

Forgotten by Obama is that those Americans who “cling to their guns and religion” are the exact people that made the Founders of the United States created their Nation for; and though they have survived much since their founding, their silence today as their Nation is allowed to be destroyed shows how truly weak they have become. And in that weakness lie the seeds of their own destruction, but which they are too ignorant of history to even see as their total destruction looms ever closer.

Christine Daniel, Who Hawked Phony Cancer Cure on TBN, Gets 14 Years, $1.2 Million Fine

An ex-doctor and minister who hawked a miracle cancer cure via a program on the Costa Mesa-based Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) was sentenced today to 14 years in federal prison because her “brown sludge” was actually made of suntan lotion and beef flavoring. Besides TBN, Christine Daniel, 58, of Santa Clarita, also sold the phony cure through her “wellness center” with ever-changing names in Mission Hills. In addition to the prison stretch, U.S. District Judge Robert J. Timlin, who remanded Daniel into custody following the four-hour hearing in Los Angeles, ordered her to forfeit nearly $1.2 million. When the then-licensed physician and ordained Pentecostal minister was arrested in LA in October 2009, she’d by then taken $1.1 million from 55 families over three years for her herbal “C-Extract.” At least six patients died over a six-month period. As we reported at the time, Daniel appearing on TBN’s Praise the Lord program was not her only Orange County connection.

Doctor-Minister Arrested for Fake Cancer Cure Has OC Ties

She had privileges at Los Alamitos Medical Center, according to her official website.

Besides cancer, Daniel claimed C-Extract cured multiple sclerosis, strokes, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, diabetes and hepatitis, boasting a 60-80 percent success rate for the most advanced forms of cancer. Victims from around the country told Judge Timlin that Daniel instructed them to stop their chemotherapy and other traditional cancer treatments and pay her $5,000 instead for “C-Extract.” One patient who paid $13,000 died a few months later.

Many reportedly said they trusted Daniel because she was a minister. She reportedly played on that faith, according to her jaw-dropping court testimony related by City News Service: “In faith-based churches, there are a lot of people who won’t go to doctors. They know in their hearts that what they are saying is not correct. They know the truth, and the Lord’s going to deal with this.”

She can thank the Creator for this: the four counts of mail and wire fraud, six counts of tax evasion and one count of witness tampering she was found guilty of in September 2011 could have sent her away to prison for 80 years.

Televangelist Benny Hinn has asked supporters of his ministry for $2.5 million in donations, which he says an anonymous donor will match dollar by dollar to help him get out of debt.

“God wants your ministry to be completely out of debt, and I want to plant an anointed seed that will help you take a giant step toward becoming totally debt-free!” says the anonymous man, whom Hinn calls a “long-time and beloved” friend.

“God has laid it on my heart to plant a seed of $2.5 million into your ministry, but God only wants me to make this gift if the ministry partners match the amount within 90 days! I feel so strongly that He wants them to be part of the supernatural wealth transfer that is coming to every believer who will obey God’s Word,” the man reportedly adds.

Hinn preaches a controversial prosperity gospel teaching and has often told followers that donations would be returned back to them in the form of financial blessings.

Benny Hinn Ministries has been investigated by the IRS in the past, and was under a 2007 Senate investigation that delved into the financial dealing of a number of high-profile preachers. The ministry has denied any wrongdoing.

The preacher has been criticized for using his ministry’s money to buy a private jet and luxury cars, but the exact state of his finances has been kept under wraps.

Earlier in April, Hinn led a large service in Trinidad and Tobago where the minister apparently asked the thousands in attendance to each give a $100 donation to help pay for the two-day event.

The Texas televangelist has built his ministry around the idea that if people help the Christian Church, including his own, by offering financial support, then God will reward them and even double their fortunes.

“Imagine not dreading going to the mailbox, no bills piling up on your counter, and no calls from collectors coming to your home. God wants to wipe your debt out! Every bit of it … and in the next 90 days!” Hinn says on his website.

Internationally known evangelist and founder of Christ for All Nations (CFAN), Reinhard Bonnke, announced Wednesday that for the first time in his 35-year ministry history, he will host crusades throughout the United States, to be called “Good News: A Gospel Crusade With International Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke.”

“I have come to love my country, but my heart is burning as I witness the staggering decline of morals and faith in this nation,” says Bonnke, who recently became a U.S. citizen. “America needs the gospel like never before. Despite years of sharing God’s saving message abroad, I believe God is now calling me to turn my ministry inward to help America find renewal and revival.”

Through these Good News crusades, Bonnke will travel from city to city to inspire Americans to draw nearer to a relationship with Jesus. CFAN will partner with local churches and pastors to host the first event at the Amway Center in Orlando, Fla., Sept. 27-28.

Bonnke is best known for his Great Gospel Crusades across the continent of Africa. Earlier in his life, God placed upon Bonnke’s heart to minister throughout Africa, and he dedicated his life to holding open-air gospel campaigns throughout the continent with as many as 1.6 million people in attendance at a single meeting. Through Bonnke’s 35 years of ministry, CFAN has recorded 72 million documented decisions for Jesus Christ.

“My work in Africa came paid for mostly by American Christians, and I am so glad and thankful for their giving hearts,” Bonnke says. “But God spoke to me and said, ‘I did not send you to America for the country to just be the offering plate for Africa. I sent you to America for the sake of Americans.’”

Exposing False Prophets

In Matthew 7:15, Jesus said “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits.” And in verse 20 He says again, “Therefore by their fruits you will know them.”

Many times, the Bible warns us of false prophets. God warns us because He loves us and He does not want us to be led away by false teaching and the greed of men. He wants us to only know the truth and to only listen to His true prophets.

It may not seem important to some, in the day that we live in, to be concerned with false prophets. After all how can they hurt us? How can false prophets and false teachers hurt a Christian?

Some people think false prophets are those who cause their followers to shave their heads and commit murders. There are those who think false prophets are those who gather together their followers and drink poisoned Kool-aid. Others think that leaders who teach their followers to store guns and food for the great war are the false prophets mentioned in the Bible. Well, they may be false leaders and they may use the name of Jesus, but they are not exactly the ones Jesus is referring to here in Matthew 7.

In the last days, there will be many false prophets, apostles, teachers, and brethren, and they will be led by their master, Satan. In 2 Corinthians 11:13-14, we are given some insight into their method of operation. It says, “For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light, therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness whose end will be according to their works.”

Second Peter 2:1 is another verse that sheds some light on false prophets saying, “But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.”

Many other scriptures refer to these counterfeit people, but here are two points that are extremely important.

1) These false prophets and false teachers will not appear to be false.

Second Corinthians 11:13 says that these leaders will appear to be righteous individuals who appear to radiate the light of Jesus. They will be so camouflaged that many will follow them. But that should not be.

Jesus said that His sheep would know His voice and another they will not follow. (John 10:3-5, 27.) We need to listen to the voice of Jesus daily (in our hearts) as He speaks to us through the voice of His Holy Spirit. Then when the false prophet comes along stealing, killing and destroying, we will not be led astray because we will know that the voice is another voice and not the voice of the great shepherd, Jesus. (v. 10.)

2) They will teach false doctrine and not the true Full Gospel of Jesus Christ including the Baptism of the Spirit and healing being the birth right of each child of God

Without the true Word of God being taught, faith will not grow. With undeveloped faith we will not be as effective in our witnessing and we will not be walking in the promises of God. Instead, we will be walking in the problems and the ways of the world. And that’s what Satan wants for you and me.

Let me give you a word of caution. Be aware that false prophets, teachers, and apostles are in the world. Be aware of the negative, but walk in the positive.

“Thus the LORD gave to Israel all the land which he swore to give to their fathers; and having taken possession of it, they settled there” (Jos. 21:43).

God also declares through Solomon that all his promises to Israel have been fulfilled:

“Blessed be the LORD who has given rest to his people Israel, according to all that he promised; not one word has failed of all his good promise, which he uttered by Moses his servant” (1 Kings 8:56).

God further says through the prophet Nehemiah that His promise to grant the land to Abraham’s descendants has been fulfilled:

“Thou art the LORD, the God who didst choose Abram and bring him forth out of Ur of the Chalde’ans and give him the name Abraham; and thou didst find his heart faithful before thee, and didst make with him the covenant to give to his descendants the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Per’izzite, the Jeb’usite, and the Gir’gashite; and thou hast fulfilled thy promise, for thou art righteous” (Neh. 9:7-8).

Thus, those who believe that God still owes the Jews land and protection by divine decree deny the plain meaning of Scripture and make God a liar. Scripture is clear that God owes the Jews nothing more, and suggests that the Jews are suffering the ramifications of rejecting Jesus Christ. They have been “broken off” of the root of Christ “because of their unbelief” (Rom. 11:19-20). However, Paul says that the Jews can be grafted in again, “if they do not persist in their unbelief,” for God has the power to do so (Rom. 11:23).

We should also note that the Old Covenant that God entered into with the Jews has been superseded by the New Covenant of Christ (the Church calls this doctrine “supercessionism”). This happened the moment that God tore the curtain of the Jewish Temple in two (Matt. 27:51). When we speak of the “Old Covenant,” we are referring to the “Mosaic covenant,” that is, the law that God gave the Jews through Moses (see 2 Cor. 3:14). We are not referring to the Abrahamic covenant which, because it was based on grace through faith, was incorporated into the New Covenant of Christ. This is why Paul says that Abraham is the father of the children of the New Covenant (see Rom. 4:16; 9:7; Gal. 3:29; James 2:21; see also Gal. 3:9,14,16,18).

“Most Jews have wrongly believed that they were saved by the Mosaic “works of law.” In Romans 11:6 and elsewhere, Paul teaches them that they are saved by grace and not works of law. In using the word houtos, Paul connects the manner in which the Jews are saved in verse 26 to the manner in which the Gentiles are saved in verse 25. Paul does this to show that, as the Gentiles are saved through the grace of the New Covenant, “so” (in the same manner) the Jews are saved as well. This would have been especially striking to devout Jews, since the Gentiles were being saved but were never under the Mosaic law. When Jesus said “Be as wise as serpents but harmless as doves,” He wasn’t just offering helpful advice, but issuing a commandment.Paul is teaching that both Jews and Gentiles are saved in the same manner (by grace, not works of law), as they are now one in the New Covenant (see Gal. 3:28-29).”

Apostle Paul is emphasizing that the Jews had a bad track record with God, which is why God is saving only a “remnant” of them. This is why Paul mentions that in Elijah’s time only 7,000 of out of ten million Jews didn’t bend the knee to Baal (v.4). In emphasizing the “remnant,” Paul is urging the Jews to repentance. He wants to change the course of events. Paul says that “if they do not persist in their unbelief, they will be grafted back in” (v.23). Since Paul says “if” they don’t persist in unbelieving, the Jews’ conversion is not a given; for Paul, it is still an open question. Because God is saving a “remnant” of the Jews, Paul says he is trying to “save some of them” (v. 14). Paul’s teaching is consistent with Isaiah’s prophecy: “For though your people Israel be as the sand of the sea, only a remnant of them will return” (Isaiah 10:22; see Rom. 9:27).

The redemption of mankind from spiritual oblivion was not forged in the earthly elements of temples and rituals, but in the very person of Christ, made manifest in the flesh, bringing eternal reconciliation, putting away forever those material elements which merely foreshadowed His fulfillment and accomplishment in the incarnation.” It is only upon the true altar of God, through Christ, by his own blood, that God is satisfied with the final propitiation for sins. As scripture states, “…there remains no further sacrifice for sins.”(Hebrews 10:26).

Zionism’s belief in a restoration of Temple worship and sacrifice in Jerusalem during the millennium is not only anti-Scriptural, it is anti-Christian. Paul repeatedly condemned the observance of Jewish rituals throughout his epistles (Romans, Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians). The Church has traditionally also declared that any observance of the Jewish law or feats are “alien to the Christian faith and not in the least fit to participate in eternal salvation. Zionism is an anti-Christian movement that attempts to remove the Church as the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies, and the only authoritative voice for interpreting these prophecies. By turning Scripture into a toll for their own political and religious fantasies, the Zionists make the Jews and Israel, and not the New Testament Church, the focus of God’s divine plan. I dislike their invention of keywords to describe their demonic counterfeit experiences and theology: keywords: apostolic, new wine, glory, refreshing, latter rain, glory cloud, soaking (same as meditating), move into the supernatural, prophetic, new breed, third wave, purpose driven, winds of change, winds of revival, supernatural motion, glory of the Lord, birthing, God’s kingdom is further being established on earth as it is in heaven, angelic hosts being released, connection points, portals, revival hubs, releasing, impartation’s or imparted with… , DNA, quantum, spiritual covering, global harvest, rains of revival, great awakening, new age, new dawn, suddenlies, oneness in Christ, unity, secret place, glory of God manifests on earth, visitation or visitations, paradigm, shifting, alignment, transported, prophetic towers, revolution, revolutionary, vertical and horizontal apostles, new beginnings, soaking in the Glory, operate in the glory and power of God, city transformation, activating and mobilizing others into their gifting, accurate prophetic words, prophetess, Nazarite, passion for revival, intercessor, releasing power and glory, promise keepers (mighty men, iron men), rise up army of believers, passing on the mantle, Elijah legacy, Anointings named after biblical people, Slain in the Spirit, transformation, reformation, third heaven, opening the heavens, God is doing a new thing in your life, increasing your anointing, pulling up the tent stakes, God is increasing your territory, etc…”

It would seem that many Christians have still to learn that our privilege of calling is fulfilled in the PURSUIT OF GOD, not experiences. Bentley was ring master at a debacle of lunacy and false healing debunked on national TV orchestrated by the infamous Strader family, whom the District Attorney implicated in financial scandals defrauding elderly Christians of millions of dollars. And we are put before the fait accompli. Is there a recent translation of the New Testament that decrees that the solution to adultery is to quickly divorce the offended party and marry the mistress? We have had several encouraging Prophetic Words recently, that God is about to move again very powerfully” that we were told who these prophets were and what was their proven track record so we could do what the scripture tells us to do in 1 Corinthians 14 “Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge” instead of taking the word of fools who supported and mentored Todd Bentley!

“He’ll be back in a couple of months as senior pastor, and that’s just not right,” said Wonder, who fears the church will shift all the blame on her mother.

Wonder said both her parents were involved in church activities. Her father was an usher and both were engaged in Bible study.

Her mother, who works as a hairstylist, eventually become the stylist for Hinn’s family, including his wife and children, Wonder said.

Hinn is the latest in a series of high-profile pastors of large nondenominational churches in Central Florida who have become embroiled in extramarital affairs. In November, Isaac Hunter, son of megapastor Joel Hunter, stepped down from the Orlando church he founded, Summit Church, after admitting to an affair with a staff member.

New Destiny Christian Center pastor Zachery Tims left his Apopka church for a time after getting caught in an extramarital affair around 2009. Tims returned to the church, but died suddenly of causes still not disclosed in a New York City hotel room in August 2011.

‘Get Motivated’ speaker seminars get into sticky lawsuit with Naples woman at center

Get Motivated was unique in having so many high-profile speakers all at a single event, said John LaRosa, a research director at Marketdata Enterprises Inc. in Tampa. He said it’s a tough model for a business to follow because expenses are so high.

He said Lowe and his wife were in trouble almost from the start with Get Motivated.

“They’ve had a really rocky history,” LaRosa said. “They’ve gone out of business multiple times and had multiple lawsuits.”

Wolfe seeks an injunction against Forte and his related companies to stop them from holding seminars that mimic ones developed by Get Motivated’s creators, who founded the business in the 1980s. On top of actual damages, she’s demanding punitive damages to punish Forte. In Florida, punitive damages generally are capped at $500,000, or three times the actual damages.

The Tampa Tribune has detailed the collapse of Get Motivated Seminars and the ugly divorce of its founders, Peter and Tamara Lowe, in Palm Beach County. In court filings in the divorce case, Peter Lowe says he sold the Get Motivated business to Johnson on Jan. 9, with his wife’s approval. He alleges Tamara Lowe turned around and set up a competing business, called Take Action Media Inc., stealing everything from computer files to chairs from the offices of their original business.

Tamara Lowe’s attorney told the Tampa Tribune her husband “secretly” sold their business to Johnson.

Tamara Lowe’s Take Action Media is also named in the lawsuit brought by Lobo Capital Partners, run by Wolfe. The suit contends Forte is an owner, officer or director of the competing company set up by Tamara Lowe.

The allegations of theft come as no surprise to researcher LaRosa.

“It’s just like any other business that goes out of business. There’s a possibility the former employees are going to go into the same business, thinking they can do it better and more profitable. Sometimes they can and sometimes they can’t.”

Peter and Tamara Lowe pack arenas with their “Get Motivated Seminars.”

You could also call their shows the Ex-Politicians Retirement Fund.

Consider that former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani collected $1.8 million in 2006-2007 for appearing at the couple’s motivational powwows, according to financial disclosures from Giuliani’s failed 2008 presidential run.

But now the Tampa-based operation is in turmoil, tied up in the couple’s ugly divorce.

Tamara accuses Peter of selling Get Motivated Seminars out from under her to an Apollo Beach man. Peter counters that Tamara’s company ransacked his offices, carting off cubicles and chairs, stealing computer files and leaving a web of phone lines dangling from walls — all so she could carry on the business without him.

Peter Lowe has seen his business model fall on hard times before — 11 years ago, when the motivational company Success Events International collapsed amid millions of dollars in debt.

For now, their star-studded events continue without a hitch — in Las Vegas, Honolulu, and elsewhere. What the future holds for the seminars and operation’s estimated 150 workers in Tampa likely will be left to a judge.
