THE GREAT CREATOR-HEALER

I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. —Psalm 139:14

A few years ago, I had a rather serious skiing accident and severely tore the muscles in one of my legs. In fact, my doctor told me that the tear caused excessive bleeding. The healing process was slow, but during that time of waiting I found myself in awe of our great Creator (see Col. 1:16).

I’ve wrinkled a few car fenders in my lifetime and dropped more than one dish. They’ve always stayed broken. Not so with my leg. As soon as the tearing of my muscles occurred, the internal healing mechanisms that Christ created in my body went to work. Invisibly, down deep in my throbbing leg, the medics of His marvelous design were mending the tear.

Before long, I was up and running again with a whole new sense of what the psalmist meant when he said that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made,” and my heart was filled with praise (Ps. 139:14).

Sometimes it takes something like an injury or a sickness to remind us of the masterful design that we carry around in our bodies. So the next time you face an unwanted interruption—no matter its cause—focus your attention on Jesus’ wonderful love and let Him lift your heart to grateful worship in the midst of the pain!

Lord, help us to see beyond the moments of our lives and to delve deeply
into Your marvelous handiwork and perfect design. Forgive us for our short-sightedness and teach us to see You in every circumstance.

Worship of the masterful Creator begins with a grateful heart.

A PROVEN SUCCESS :

And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet….For this my son…was lost, and is found. – Luke 15:21-22, 24

Prove yourself. In today’s world, that’s what you constantly feel you have to do, right? On the job, among friends, even at home you’re always working to win the approval you need. Working to convince those around you that you deserve the salary, the friendship, and even the love they give you.

Is there any escape?

You better believe there is! It’s called grace. Unearned and undeserved favor and acceptance. And there’s only one place you can find it–in the heart of God Himself.

There’s no better picture of God’s grace in action than in the story of the prodigal son. Few of us today can really feel the impact of that story like those first Jewish listeners Jesus told it to. You see, by their standards the prodigal son had committed some of the most despicable acts possible. He’d not only taken advantage of his father and spent his inheritance in riotous living, he’d left the nation of Israel and made covenant with a foreigner–a pig farmer! That was as low as you could get.

In their eyes, that boy’s rebellion was so serious his father’s only recourse was to disown him.

But that’s not what this father did! He welcomed his repentant son home with open arms. He offered him grace–unmerited favor–that was based on the father’s love rather than the son’s performance.

Next time you catch yourself struggling to make up to God for something you’ve done wrong, working to win His approval, let the story of the prodigal son set you free. Let it remind you that, in spite of your sins, your Father has received you with open arms. He’s put a robe of righteousness on your back and His signet ring on your hand. He’s put the shoes of sonship on your feet!

Do you feel unworthy of all that? God hasn’t based His relationship with you on your worthiness. He’s based it on His love for you. You don’t have to struggle to prove yourself to Him. As far as He’s concerned, you’re a proven success.

Remain Steadfast In The Faith

    Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9Resist him, steadfast in the faith…     1 Peter 5:8–9

When I was a teenager, I was taught that if I wanted to resist the devil, I had to rebuke him. So whenever an evil thought came to my mind or I was tempted, I found myself saying, “I resist you, devil, in Jesus’ name! I bind you, devil! Go away from me, devil! I rebuke you in Jesus’ name!”

This went on until God showed me one day that though I had “resisted” the devil, I had spent more time talking to him than to God! I was more conscious of the devil than of God throughout the day.

I checked the Word of God and realized that we resist the devil not by focusing on resisting him, but by being established in the faith that we are made right with God through Jesus’ blood, that we are the righteousness of God in Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:21)

Yes, the devil will continue to remind you of your mistakes, failures and sins. And he will tell you that because of these things, you cannot receive your healing, that you will have to pay for your mistakes or that something bad will happen to your family. He will accuse you, condemn you and try to persuade your heart to believe that he can do bad things to you.

But the truth is that the devil cannot enforce anything in your life if he cannot persuade your heart. And your heart cannot be persuaded if it is “steadfast in the faith”, if it is established in righteousness. God says that once you are established in righteousness, “You shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; and from terror, for it shall not come near you”. (Isaiah 54:14)

So now that my heart is established in righteousness, I can boldly declare, “Yes, I may have these problems in my life, but I am not guilty in God’s eyes. I am justified in God’s eyes by faith because of what Christ has done. I am righteous by Jesus’ blood!” My friend, that is how you resist the devil and become undevourable!

We resist the devil not by focusing on resisting him, but by being established in the faith that we are the righteousness of God in Christ.

 

THE TRUTH

There Is Liberty
“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can you say, ‘You will be made free’?” Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. “And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. John 8:32-36

Religion, even Christianity, makes captives of people and puts them into a set mind pattern and does not make them freemen.  Many converts are made by their religious leaders to think or say things that are politically correct or biblical or else they are ostracized by others. In sociology this is referred to as group conformity and is very prevalent in Christian denominations where an acceptance is based on adherence to a set pattern of beliefs or else they get ostracized.

In my youth,  having read the bible many times  and many Christian books, it was very easy to play roles and be accepted by the different Christian groups just by changing phrases and saying the things that were  politically or religiously correct.  What was always sad for me was to see my friends doing things not out of personal convictions, but because their church and peer pressure demanded it of them.

In one particular group, the elders were always tearing down the younger people and pointing out their sins and failures. The Lord spoke to me and pointed that the elders were trying to live their Christian life under the law, and were failing miserably. To justify their failures they were pointed out the failures of others as a way of saying that they were not so bad. They had not understood the freedom that was in the Lord and in the Spirit of the Lord. Apostle Paul wrote to such a group and stated:

O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified? This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?

Have you suffered so many things in vain-if indeed it was in vain? Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?- just as Abraham “believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. Galatians 3:1-7

It is to be noted that Paul called them foolish Galatians which they were even though for legalists God’s word states:

“But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire. Matthew 5;22

Paul brought out the fact the Holy Spirit was not given by works and that those who  supply the Spirit and work miracles among them do not do it by the works of the law but by the hearing of faith. The Holy Spirit and miracles come as a result of faith and have nothing to do with works, legalistic ideas and doctrines of demons  that people preach and live by.

One of the biggest tragedies of Christendom in our generations especially among the Evangelicals is that people are created by men  who are converts and duplicates of others and not of the one who had created them, the living God.  They are not free in the Spirit of the Lord but are subject to so many rules and regulations and foolish ideas of men. They are taken captives and are  tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting. They are not growing up in all things into Him who is the head-Christ but into denominational thinking and the teaching of men.

Their thought patterns and beliefs had been indoctrinated by men and not the Holy Spirit. They do not even know who the Holy Spirit is; never mind having a real relationship with Him. They live in the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God which comes by the Spirit of the Lord and not adherence to some doctrines, rules and regulations that even their leaders hypocritically do not follow.  It is just a mind game of deceived and blind ones leading the blind and the devil having a field day with them defeating and dismaying them at every turn.

Now Apostle Paul, who knew the scriptures from his youth, spoke in tongues and prophesied more than all of them, and laid hands on others so that the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied, said to the Galatians “Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?”   Paul, himself, preached and lived by the Spirit and not by the works of flesh. As a result He told God’s people:

Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing. And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to keep the whole law. You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love. Galatians 5:1-6

Well the present generation of Christians knows very little about the Spirit and of speaking with tongues and prophesying. Many are entangled in doctrines of demons and works of the flesh. Many have been indoctrinated that being a pastor or a missionary is the highest calling  of God and in life. But nothing is further from the truth. For Jesus Christ was only a carpenter and never went to seminary or cemetery, never went to a bible college and yet the God of miracles worked in Him and through Him. Something that very few of those who call themselves Christians can say.

To such as these the God of miracles is dead, miracles have passed, and miracles do not exist today.  Miracles have been replaced by the Greek version of the bible and perspiration. In other words God helps those who help themselves. Which being properly translated means he will have to help them when they fall flat on their face.  For with out the Holy Spirit, a real and vibrant relationship with Him and His indwelling power failure is guaranteed even to those who are called by God’s name. As a result Apostle Paul stated an important truth that most chose to ignore:

And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. 1 Corinthians 2:1-5

The faith of God ‘s true people is not to be in the wisdom of men but in the power of a miracle working God. In the power of a God who took the very worst that men and demons threw at Jesus and made it to be the very best thing that happened in the universe.

In a God who took the disgrace and the apparent failure of the cross of Jesus Christ and made it into the greatest victory that man has every seen or will see. In a God whose miracle power has not changed and can take any situation and turn it around.. In a God who can by His Holy Spirit raise a life from the dead even as He had raised Jesus Christ from the dead. In a God who is a miracle working God and does miracles for His true ones even this day

For the Christian faith is not in a set of doctrines, beliefs or creeds but in a person who is God and a miracle working God. Who by the words of His mouth created the universe and everything in it and sustains it. In a God who can by His word change anything and do anything that He sets His mind to including blessing some and destroying others like He did with Abraham and Sodom and Gomorrah.

In a God who is more than enough to meet and supply any need and handle any problem that is given to Him in faith and trust. In a God who answers by fire like He did to His friend and prophet Elijah at Mt. Carmel. God’s word records:

And it came to pass, at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, “LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word. “Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that You are the LORD God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again.” Then the fire of the LORD fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench. Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, “The LORD, He is God! The LORD, He is God!” And Elijah said to them, “Seize the prophets of Baal! Do not let one of them escape!” So they seized them; and Elijah brought them down to the Brook Kishon and executed them there.

Then Elijah said to Ahab, “Go up, eat and drink; for there is the sound of abundance of rain.” So Ahab went up to eat and drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; then he bowed down on the ground, and put his face between his knees, and said to his servant, “Go up now, look toward the sea.” So he went up and looked, and said, “There is nothing.” And seven times he said, “Go again.” Then it came to pass the seventh time, that he said, “There is a cloud, as small as a man’s hand, rising out of the sea!” So he said, “Go up, say to Ahab, ‘Prepare your chariot, and go down before the rain stops you.’ ”  1 Kings 18:36-44

When the fire of God falls His people are turned back to Him and the false ones are executed by God’s people. Then His true ones can boldly say “Go up, eat and drink; for there is the sound of abundance of rain” and then pray the rains in.

This generation of Christians has seen a lot of false prophets who worship the God of Baal, of prominence, riches and fame but not the God of Elisha who answers miraculously by fire and changes the hearts and minds of His people.  For only the only Holy Spirit with His Baptism and fire can bring a true revival to God’s people and foolish evangelism by men can never do it. Something that many have not understood and as a result few people have been touched, changed or set free by so called Christians in America today.

We have had speech and  preaching that were with persuasive words of human wisdom and money changers and wolves in sheep’s clothing in the House of God but not a real demonstration of the Spirit and of power. But the fire of God is falling and we have not seen anything yet as the God of Miracles is well and alive even on planet earth. When He moves no one can stop Him or say a word against Him and His true servants

The Truth About Fundraising

 Larry Tomczak says the way Christians are raising money today is ridiculous.Let’s suppose you are closing out your day with some salsa and chips when you flip on the television. You wince as you witness a repeat performance–not of another episode of Survivor but of a high-powered, high-pressure appeal for money during a talk show on your local Christian station.”Ohhh, the anointing is so strong right now,” the host says. “You need to give while the anointing is here!”You believe in the anointing of God and in the power of prayer. You love and appreciate many of the people on this TV program and you know God uses them.You certainly don’t want to be critical. So you close your eyes, shake your head in disgust and turn off the set.

“This is embarrassing,” you say to yourself. “Something isn’t right. Lord, I don’t understand–does it have to be this way?”

I know how you feel. I have seen this in church services and conferences and some of the same thoughts have surfaced in me.

Over the next several days you find yourself in conversations with Christian friends. Somehow the topic of Christian fundraising is mentioned.

The other people have strong opinions, from “It makes me sick” to “As soon as I see that stuff I turn off the TV.”

I wish this craziness were the exception, but it seems it is becoming the rule. During one recent week I turned on the tube and witnessed the following:

*In a highly charged atmosphere, a motivational speaker told her audience to shout “Amen!” She was flanked by a group of nodding, hand-clapping and hand-waving supporters. “Slap someone in agreement,” she said.

Agreement with what? The speaker quoted Psalm 71:21 and promised if viewers would pledge $71.21 a month for 12 months ($854.52) that God had told her He would give them “increase and greatness.”

The evangelist continued: “He’ll stop that lawsuit. … Greatness will be released in your job and finances and ministry and marriage even if you don’t have the resources or have two nickels to your name or don’t have a man to support you! Go to that phone and pledge $71.21 a month, and I prophesy to you that God will increase your greatness! Give now!”

*A well-dressed “bishop” who divorced his wife and remarried one week later forcefully told his audience to “obey the prophet of God and give.” He said God gave him a word for the young people: “You are in tremendous credit card debt, but if you’ll get up and pledge money and put it on your credit card, God will intervene for you. Don’t let anything hinder you. Today salvation comes to your house.”

(I wish I could remind this guy of Proverbs 22:26-27. It says that if you foolishly go into debt your very bed will be snatched from under you.)

*Another internationally known church leader told his TV audience that eight men were supposed to give $1 million each in the offering. “You have a choice,” he told them. “Obey God and win or disobey God and keep losing. You will lose God’s blessing! Go! And praise God while you’re dialing the phone.”

*Another leader used this hook to urge viewers to pledge money: “The more you pledge, the more protection you’ll have from God.” During other broadcasts this person had implied that people would be healed if they would sow money into his ministry!

I can’t help but remember the account of Simon the sorcerer in Acts 8:9-21. His greed lured him to ask Peter if he could buy the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

Peter rebuked him sharply and said: “May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God” (NIV).

Stop the Madness!

The people I have described are sincere, but they are also misleading God’s people. And if we don’t bring some correction to their behavior soon the testimony of the American church will be ruined.

Referring to finances, the apostle Paul told the Corinthian church that their credibility was vital. “We want to avoid any criticism of the way we administer this liberal gift. For we are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of men” (2 Cor. 8:20-21).

Can we say this today in our churches and ministries when we raise funds? Personally, I believe things have gotten so out of hand that our meek and mild Jesus is picking up His whip to cleanse the temple one more time.

It’s time to halt pressure-laden, deceptive, unbiblical, gimmicky practices that grieve God and hurt the cause of Christ–especially when we try to reach unbelievers. It’s time to demote slick pulpit marketers who offer different colored “prayer bears,” “prosperity bracelets” and other silly trinkets.

What’s next? Action figures and bobble-head dolls of our favorite TV preachers?

Paul admonished the church at Rome that God’s name was being blasphemed among the Gentiles because of them (see Rom. 2:24). What would he say about us?

I am not a detached, armchair critic. I’ve been in the ministry more than 30 years in both local church and parachurch work. I know the financial pressures are real.

I also know God is a God of abundance and prosperity, and I believe He honors the generosity of sincere people–even if they are wrongly pressured. I also thank God for multitudes of ministers who do display sensitivity and integrity in raising funds. (Thanks to Billy Graham for 50-plus years of a superb example!)

In year’s past, when church giving declined nationwide, I had to revise my local church budget, lay off a friend from a job, pray for a financial miracle and ask God a lot of questions about our goals.

My congregation got so desperate for God’s presence and provision that we shut down every church activity (we even closed our office!) so we could seek God from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. for an entire week. Our choice was simple: Either trust the flesh or trust God.

When a church or ministry reaches a point of need, it makes sense to push the pause button and examine whether God’s work truly is being done in God’s way. Hudson Taylor, pioneer missionary to China, said this: “God’s work, done in God’s way, will never lack God’s supply.”

If God promised to supply all our needs, then shouldn’t we evaluate if our current “needs” are actually “wants”? We may realize that we have wandered off-course.

How many ministry leaders make desperate pleas for projects that God never originated? Rather than manufacture a crisis by going on a fundraising binge (“We must raise $50,000 by the 31st, or we’ll have to shut down!”) maybe we should be honest and admit God is using lack to get our attention!

Supernatural Provision

We’ve seen awesome financial miracles in my church. At the end of the year we were struggling we realized we needed $30,000 to meet our budget.

After praying we informed people of the need. We requested prayer, reviewed biblical passages and invited a Spirit-led response.

While I was driving to our office on New Year’s Eve, I stopped by a post office. A man I’d never met popped out of the lobby and smiled. “I saw you deposit your mail and felt God wanted you to know He’s making a deposit in your account today,” he said to me.

That afternoon a flurry of checks arrived. By the time the ball dropped at Times Square to signal the New Year, God had met our need with $30,500!

I know God can provide. And I know He loves to pour out His extravagant love for us by meeting our needs. But we must stop misusing His Word and misrepresenting His character with our disgusting circus antics.

If we excuse ourselves by saying we couldn’t care less what the world thinks of our financial pleas, the perception among growing numbers of both Christians and nonbelievers will continue to be that something is rotten in our ranks.

Whether we like it or not, perception is reality. We are turning people off, especially the younger “make it real” generation, when we manipulate people to fill offering plates.

Have we forgotten what happened to Jim Bakker and his PTL ministry?

“As the true impact of Jesus’ words regarding money impacted my heart and mind, I became physically nauseated,” Bakker wrote in his book I Was Wrong after his release from prison. “I was wrong. I was wrong! Wrong in my lifestyle, certainly, but even more fundamentally, wrong in my understanding of the Bible’s true message. Not only was I wrong, but I was teaching the opposite of what Jesus had said.”

All of us need to ask ourselves if our attitude is “anything goes” in our church or ministry fund raising. Consider the following three guidelines related to finances.

1. Giving begins in the local church. According to the Bible, every Christian should be “added” to a church family and should financially support the church leadership with their tithes (see Acts 2:41-42; Gal. 6:6; 1 Tim. 5:17-18; 1 Cor. 9:3-12). To avoid draining off resources or competing with others, early Christians entrusted their funds to the leaders for distribution of needs and even channeled additional funds to a needy cause through their local church (see Acts 4:34-35; 1 Cor. 16:2).

This parallels the Old Testament model, in which most giving was directed primarily to a centralized location (the temple) for distribution by the leaders (the Levites). Additional giving (above and beyond basic tithes and offerings in this context) was seen as “freewill offerings”–similar to our giving today to worthy evangelistic causes, mercy ministries and so on.

John Chrysostom, a father of the early church, observed church giving in A.D. 390 and stated that the believers “did not dare to put their offering into the hands of the needy, nor give it with lofty condescension, but they laid it at the feet of the apostles and made them the masters and distributors of the gift. What a man needed was then taken from the treasury of the community, not from the private property of individuals. Thereby the givers did not become arrogant.”

2. We need guidelines for fundraising.The father of all modern fund raising is George Müller (1805-1898). He established orphanages in England and provided for thousands of needy children. I’ve visited these former homes and pondered how God faithfully supplied all the needs without any inappropriate sales techniques or high-pressure manipulation.

Müller’s guidelines are relevant for correcting much of the current fund-raising abuses, although I would add one qualifier to his first point: soliciting monetary help (see guidelines below).

Though I respect those who have a preference for never making specific needs known, I do believe there is biblical support for doing so (as Paul did with the Philippians and Corinthians) as long as information, not manipulation, is being shared. When Jesus said to give, not letting your left hand know what the right is doing (see Matt. 6:3), He was addressing motive, not method.

Müller’s guidelines state:
* No funds should ever be solicited. No facts or figures concerning needs are to be revealed by the workers in the orphanage to anyone, except to God in prayer. [This is not a biblical mandate, but it is interesting that Müller’s work was fully supported in this manner.]
* No debt should ever be incurred.
* Money contributed for a specific purpose should never be used for any other purpose.
* All accounts should be audited annually by professional auditors.
* No ego pandering by publication of donors’ names with the amount of their gifts. Each donor should be thanked privately.
* No prominent or titled persons should be sought for the board or to advertise the institution.
*The success of the institution should be measured not by the numbers served or by the amounts of money taken in but by God’s blessing on the work, which is expected to be in proportion to the time spent in prayer.

3. We need to use discernment. It’s time for the 21st century church to clean house or prepare to have Jesus clean our clocks as He did with the money changers of His day. We must not procrastinate or continue staging this embarrassing financial circus.

Chrysostom’s words to greedy church leaders of his day need to be heard in our generation: “You have taken possession of the resources that belong to Christ and you consume them aimlessly. Don’t you realize that you are going to be held accountable?”

Years ago some Anglican bishops in Africa took a courageous stand for financial integrity. When the Episcopal Church in the United States voted to ordain a practicing homosexual clergyman in August 2003, the African leaders announced they would not take any money from the American denomination. Then they exhorted the U.S. Episcopalians to repent.

Although the African Anglicans have great financial needs, Archbishop Peter Akinola of Nigeria said this: “If we suffer for a while to gain our independence and our freedom and to build ourselves up, I think it will be a good thing for the church in Africa. And we will not, on the altar of money, mortgage our conscience, mortgage our faith, mortgage our salvation.”

Imagine that! Rejecting offers of money to stay pure before God.

Maybe we can act similarly–putting principle before pragmatism–with our finances. We need to fix our eyes on the eternal priorities of the kingdom instead of the temporal needs of our flesh.

Let’s Get Blunt About It

Ten questions to ask before you give money to ministries:

1. Are the people who are asking for money modeling Christlikeness and servanthood or salesmanship and self-promotion?
2. Are they exalting Jesus Christ or exalting people and ministries?
3. Do they model prayerful dependency on God, or do they use pressure and manipulation to incite others to give?
4. Do they give people an opportunity to quietly and patiently hear from God, or do they insist that the giving must be done “now” or “instantly”?
5. Is there evidence of humility, purity and integrity in their demeanor and presentation, or do they use insincere hype, pushiness and striving?
6. Do they offer a sincere, faith-building presentation of Scriptures and testimonies or misleading promises and fear-inducing suggestions?
7. Does this ministry have a record of spiritual fruit that honors God, or is their reputation marred by unsubstantiated claims and exaggerated reports?
8. Do the people asking for money have godly lifestyles of humility and servanthood, or do they live as pampered people who require egotistical titles and lavish living?
9. Is the ministry financially accountable, or are false assurances used to gain credibility?
10.  Do they ever imply that giving in an offering will increase a person’s spiritual gifts or level of anointing?

You Can Have The Victory

There was going to be a world exposition in our fair city and as an engineering student I needed a summer job. So I told the Lord I wanted to work on the exposition grounds in construction. I sent out applications rejected all job offers until the right one came. The telephone rang and the gentleman offered me a job. I ask where and he said Expo 67 and I accepted the job. Yes, the Lord gives to His trusting ones the desires of their hearts. His word is true:

Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the LORD,  And He shall give you the desires of your heart.  Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him,  And He shall bring it to pass.  He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday.  Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him;  Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,  Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.  Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret-it only causes harm.  For evildoers shall be cut off;  But those who wait on the LORD, They shall inherit the earth. Psalm 37:3-9

My job as a resident engineer on one project was finished so the construction company that I was working for lent me for two weeks to help out a consortium what was building airports. I ended up working fifteen years for this company until to quit starting my own successful company selling systems. Yes, God is good and He is a faithful God. My doctor found something wrong with my thyroids and sent me to get a nuclear medical scanning at the university. I prayed in tongues during the testing and the doctors found nothing wrong at all. God’s word is true:

Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:  Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Psalm 103:2-4

For I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted-you may well put up with it! 2 Corinthians 11:2-4

For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ.  And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.  Therefore it is no great thing if whose end will be according to their works. 1 Corinthians 11:13-15

The Serpent who has deceived Eve has been deceiving many others with dispensationalism and “once saved always saved.” Since the devil is a liar, thief and destroyer it’s not surprising that his ministers, his transform themselves into ministers of righteousness such as dispensationalists and cessasionists and have robbed many of God’s people of His blessings including the gifts of the Spirit, divine health and prosperity. When you go to the store to buy a shoe, tongues come with them? Similarly tongues come with the Baptism of the Spirit and exist for the profit of all. In all probability the Lord will not return in our life time but dispensationalists have been so active for the last 160 years in looking for the anti-Christ and following world events that they have missed the commands on Jesus on their lives to receive power and preach the gospel with signs and wonders at all times.

There are many doctrines of demons around which do not line up with the Word of God that is taught as God’s truth including:

1)  ‘God loves the sinner but hates the sinner’ while God’s word states “As it is written, “Jacob I have loved, but Esau I have hated” Romans 9:13. Yes, God hates some people is a fact men cannot deny for God doesn’t change, never.
2)  ‘God forgives everybody of all sins’ while God’s word states “Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:  looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled;  lest there be any fornicator or profane person like Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright.  For you know that afterward, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no  place for repentance, though he sought it diligently with tears” Hebrews 12:14-18. Yes,  for some sins there is no forgiveness.
3)  ‘One saved, always saved’ while God’s word states “If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned” John 15:6.
4)  ‘God doesn’t turn His face from people any more’ while God’s word “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;  being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers,  backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,  undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful;  who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.” Romans 1:28-32 – God has not changed and He does turn away from people
5)  ‘God doesn’t destroy people any more in the current time of life’ while God’s word states “But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe” Jude 1:5.  God destroys those whom He saved because they did not believe
6)  ‘It’s God’s will that all be saved’ while God’s word states “Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.  “And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says: ‘Hearing you will hear and shall not understand,  And seeing you will see and not perceive;  For the hearts of this people have grown dull.  Their ears are hard of hearing,  And their eyes they have closed,  Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears,  Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn,  So that I should heal them’  Matthew 12:13-16.
7)  ‘The Baptism of the Spirit is not for today’ while God’s word states “And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now” Acts 1:4-5. Jesus commanded the disciples to be Baptized with the Spirit, speak in tongues, cast out demons and lay hands on the sick
8)  ‘Jesus is coming soon’ while God’s word states  “Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?”  And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.  “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” Acts 1:6-8. It’s none of their business to know when Jesus was coming but to receive power and be witnesses to Jesus
9)  ‘The gifts of the Spirit and apostles and prophets have ceased’ while God’s word states “And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues” 1 Corinthians 12:28.
10)           ‘The local church is God’s church’ while God’s word states “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables” 2 Timothy 4:3-4.  Yes, a gathering of false ones doesn’t make a true church of Jesus Christ
11)           ‘The tithe in the new testament is to be given to the local church and not the poor’ while God’s word states “Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, so you must do also: On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come”  1 Corinthians 16:1-2. The sheep are the work of the Lord and not only the shepherds
12)           ‘Pastors and Priests are Anointed ones who are not to be touched’ while God’s word states – “And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;” Ephesians 4:11-13. Yes, all of God’s true and righteous children are anointed ones and Apostles and prophets pull rank over evangelists, teachers and pastors.
13)           ‘Preach and witness to every one’ while God’s word states “Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces Matthew 7:6. Jesus said wisdom not presumption is important
14)             ‘The Greek Version of the bible and pastors will lead you into truth’ while God’s word states “But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him” 1 John 2:27.  Yes, the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth who leads men into truth while men only deceive.
15)            ‘Pray for every one to be saved, healed and delivered’ while God’s word states “If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin which does not lead to death, he will ask, and He will give him life for those who commit sin not leading to death. There is sin leading to death. I do not say that he should pray about that” 1 John 5:16.You don’t pray about a sin leading to death! What is a sin leading to death? Ask the Holy Spirit, your teacher, guide, and Spirit of truth, about it?
16)           ‘Suffering and sickness are the will of God’ while God’s word states “Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms.  Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord” James 5:13-14. Yes, God heals and delivers from suffering and sickness. It is His will for Jesus healed all who came to Him.
17)           ‘The church is more important than the family’ while God’s word states, And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’  “and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?  “So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate” Matthew 19:4-6. Yes, the family came before the church
18)           ‘It’s God’s will to be single’ while God’s word states “He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favor from the LORD” Proverbs 18:22. Yes, God wants to give good things to His children including a wife or a husband!
19)           ‘Denominations are God’s will’ while God’s word states “For when one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are you not carnal?  Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one? I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.  So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase” 1 Corinthians 3:4-7. Yes, denominations are usually an abomination to God as they propagate doctrine of demons
20)           ‘Women Can Not Preach in the Church’ while God’s word states “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.  For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.  And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise” Galatians 3:26-29. Yes, God doesn’t see gender or color in His house today.
21)           ‘People are to submit to Preachers’ while God’s word states “If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.  “For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you John 13: 14-15. Yes, Jesus led by example and not by rule of force.
22)           ‘Judge not that you be not judged’ while God’s word states “ I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people.  Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner-not even to eat with such a person.  For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside?  But those who are outside God judges. Therefore “put away from yourselves the evil person” 1 Corinthians 5:9-13. Yes, we are to judge the false, unruly and immoral ones and are to have nothing to do with them
23)           ‘Christians can be Homosexuals’ while God’s word states “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites,  nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.  And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God” 1 Corinthians 6:9-11. Yes, drunkards. adulterers and Homosexual and thieves will not inherit the kingdom of God, even if they are pastors and priests.

THE TRUTH

1 John 4:6 We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

MANY CHRISTIANS HAVE A RELIGION OF WORDS DEVOID OF LOVE, TRUTH AND POWER!  THEY ARE DECEIVED AND ARE NOT AUTHENTIC CHRISTIANS FOR

Romans 13:8 Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law.
9    For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
10    Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

1 Corinthians 1 Corinthians 13: The Greatest Gift
1    Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.
2    And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
3    And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.
4    Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;
5    does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;
6    does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;
7    bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8    Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.
9    For we know in part and we prophesy in part.
10    But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.
11    When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12    For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.
13    And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.
8    He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
9    In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.
10    In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
11    Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

IT SEEMS THAT MOST CHRISTIANS ARE NOT TRUE CHRISTIANS OTHERWISE THEY WOULD BE BAPTIZED WITH THE SPIRIT WITH A STRONG PRAYER LANGUAGE, CONFESS AND TEACH 1 CORINTHIANS 2, OPERATE IN THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT AND BE FILLED WITH AGAPE LOVE BY THE HOLY SPIRIT

1 Corinthians 2: 1    And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God.
2    For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
3    I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling.
4    And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,
5    that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
6    However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.
7    But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory,
8    which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
9    But as it is written: ” Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
10    But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
11    For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.
12    Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.
13    These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
14    But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
15    But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one.
16    For “who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

YES LUST IS NOT LOVE AND LUSTS ARE DANGEROUS TO YOUR SPIRITUAL HEALTH

Romans 1:27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

Matthew 13:22 Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world — the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life — is not of the Father but is of the world.
17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

Galatians 5:16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

Too many people do not understand that “agape love” which we can only have by being Baptized with the Holy Spirit — (because God’s love (agape) has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit which has been given to us: Rom. 5: 5) is a correcting love which does not overlook sinful behaviour.  “’For the Lord disciplines him whom he loves and chastises every son whom he receives.’ It is for discipline that you have to endure.  God is treating  you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline?  If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons” (Heb. 12: 6 – 8).   God does not over-look any sin  (Acts 17: 30).
