MATTHEW 7:7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
9 Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?
10 Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent?
11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
LUKE 18:1 Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart,
2 saying: “There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man.
3 Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, ‘Get justice for me from my adversary.’
4 And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, ‘Though I do not fear God nor regard man,
5 yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.’ ”
6 Then the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge said.
7 And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them?
8 I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”
It’s a fact of life that many people are waiting for God or other people to do something about whatever bothers them when in fact, god is waiting for them to do something including about any injustices or inequalities in life be it social, physical, financial or spiritual.
It is also a fact that Jesus said that all power and authority is given to him in heaven and earth, that God plus one is a majority and He has promised victory over any and every enemy including sickness, idiots and demons! And my favorite story is that of a nobody named Mordecai who brought down a wicked evil prime minister named Haman! When we are discouraged or in doubt the book of Esther is a great book to read to build our faith in God and what He can do through one person!
Yes God wants His people to dream big dreams and He will fulfill those dreams for He is God, not man! He who has already given them His best, His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, and His wonderful Counselor, the Holy Spirit, desires to give them the rest and do exceedingly abundantly above all that they ask or think, according to the power that works in them, the same power that created heaven and earth and raised Jesus Christ from the dead. His word is unchanging:
“And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. Matthew 10:7-8
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Romans 8:31-32
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-32
Faith is not just something you have on Sunday but faith is something you use every day to get results. Faith is the substance of things not seen but faith is also an action word.
1 Samuel 30:8 So David inquired of the LORD, saying, “Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?” And He answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.”
All the great people of faith in Hebrews 11 did something about their negative circumstances. David pursued his enemies and overtook them. Joshua marched around the walls of Jericho until they fell down. The bible says of them
11:33 who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, 34 quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
Because God is a great and wonderful miracle working God there is nothing that He cannot or will not do for those who believe. Nothing is too big or too small for Him to look after and nothing is impossible with God. And we see this in the life of Mordecai. The bible records:
On that day King Ahasuerus gave Queen Esther the house of Haman, the enemy of the Jews. And Mordecai came before the king, for Esther had told how he was related to her. So the king took off his signet ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it to Mordecai; and Esther appointed Mordecai over the house of Haman. Now Esther spoke again to the king, fell down at his feet, and implored him with tears to counteract the evil of Haman the Agagite, and the scheme which he had devised against the Jews. And the king held out the golden scepter toward Esther. So Esther arose and stood before the king, and said, “If it pleases the king, and if I have found favor in his sight and the thing seems right to the king and I am pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to revoke the letters devised by Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to annihilate the Jews who are in all the king’s provinces. “For how can I endure to see the evil that will come to my people? Or how can I endure to see the destruction of my countrymen?” Then King Ahasuerus said to Queen Esther and Mordecai the Jew, “Indeed, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and they have hanged him on the gallows because he tried to lay his hand on the Jews. “You yourselves write a decree concerning the Jews, as you please, in the king’s name, and seal it with the king’s signet ring; for whatever is written in the king’s name and sealed with the king’s signet ring no one can revoke.” So the king’s scribes were called at that time, in the third month, which is the month of Sivan, on the twenty-third day; and it was written, according to all that Mordecai commanded, to the Jews, the satraps, the governors, and the princes of the provinces from India to Ethiopia, one hundred and twenty-seven provinces in all, to every province in its own script, to every people in their own language, and to the Jews in their own script and language. And he wrote in the name of King Ahasuerus, sealed it with the king’s signet ring, and sent letters by couriers on horseback, riding on royal horses bred from swift steeds. By these letters the king permitted the Jews who were in every city to gather together and protect their lives-to destroy, kill, and annihilate all the forces of any people or province that would assault them, both little children and women, and to plunder their possessions, on one day in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus, on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar. Esther 8:1-12
King Ahasuerus gave Queen Esther the house of Haman, the enemy of the Jews, and had hanged him on the gallows because he tried to lay his hand on the Jews. And Esther appointed Mordecai over the house of Haman. King Ahasuerus also told Queen Esther and Mordecai, the Jew, to themselves write a decree concerning the Jews, as it pleased them in the king’s name, and seal it with the king’s signet ring. And Esther and Mordecai did just that. The decree in the king’s name permitted the Jews who were in every city to gather together and protect their lives-to destroy, kill, and annihilate all the forces of any people or province that would assault them, both little children and women, and to plunder their possessions. Later Esther also requested and received a decree Haman’s ten sons be hanged on the gallows (Esther 9:13-14).
Yes decrees are very important in the life of Kings and those in authorities. The bible also tells us:
“Woe to those who decree unrighteous decrees, Who write misfortune, Which they have prescribed. To rob the needy of justice, And to take what is right from the poor of My people, That widows may be their prey, And that they may rob the fatherless. What will you do in the day of punishment, And in the desolation which will come from afar? To whom will you flee for help? And where will you leave your glory? Isaiah 10:1-3
Now Jesus Christ also defeated our prime enemy Satan, and has given us, His brothers and sisters, all his spoils and wealth as well as the riches of heaven. He has also given us the right to make any decree that we desire in His name. God’s word is true and unchangeable:
“And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; “they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Mark 16:17-18
“And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. “If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. John 14:13-14
“You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. John 15:16
The Holy Spirit whom the Father sent in Jesus name, not only teaches us all things, and brings to our remembrance all things that Jesus taught but He also helps us make proper decree that affect and change our world, society and life by removing people or mountains or kingdoms in our lives. God’s word is unchanging:
Then the LORD put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and the LORD said to me: “Behold, I have put My words in your mouth. See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, To root out and to pull down, To destroy and to throw down, To build and to plant.” Jeremiah 1:9-10
“And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 16:19
“For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Mark 11:23
Yes, God has given His true anointed ones, the power of decree and proclamation to use to their advantage and that of the Kingdom. Under the new covenant Jesus gave us His blood, He gave us His name and He gave us His Word. He gave us the authority to rebuke the devil ourselves. Under the old covenant, you would do what you were supposed to do and God rebuked the devourer. Under the new covenant we are not to wait for God to rebuke the devourer. God is waiting for us to act on the authority He has given as a result of the blood. God has given you the name of Jesus and the power and authority to do it yourself. When the devil gets in your face, you say, “I rebuke you devil in the name of Jesus.”
Jesus said, “You say to that mountain ‘be removed and be cast into the sea.’” Many times in the Bible the word “mountain” means kingdom. Under the old covenant you did what you were supposed to do, and then you waited for God to move the mountain (kingdom). Under the new covenant Jesus said, “Say to the mountain ‘be removed and cast into the sea’ and believe in your heart that those things you say will come to pass and you will have whatever you say.” To me it’s a greater covenant and a greater promise, but with every greater promise comes greater responsibility. Under the old covenant you do what you are supposed to do and just wait for God. Under the new covenant you do what you are supposed to do, take authority yourself, and stand in faith without wavering. [i]
