LOVE

CCThe Ultimate Power of the Universe
Attacks are coming and how you react and what you do is important. It will decide your destiny.

First, we must establish a biblical truth. Attacks will come against you. Just because you have received Jesus as your Lord and Savior, just because you are born again, just because you are a Christian does not stop the devil from doing what the devil does and that is this. He attempts to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). You are his point of attack.

Sadly, many Christians do not realize this. They believe that as a Christian, God is in total control of their life and there is nothing that they must do. This develops into the belief that everything that happens is from God. If they have a victory, then God brought them through to victory. If they have a defeat, God took them through the destruction and the valley of the shadow of death in order to train them and humble them.

When living by this non-biblical view, a Christian will be ill-prepared when the enemy attacks and the destruction will be great because they lack knowledge and skills in the weapons of their warfare. It allows the enemy to catch them by surprise. The truth is attacks are coming. Psalm 34:19 says, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.” James 1:2 says we should consider it all joy when-not if-we encounter trials, tests, and tribulations.

If this were the end of the story, it would be a sad story. But it’s not the end. God has given us weapons that, when used properly, can repel any attack. If the attack is physical, we have the weapons. If the attack is emotional, we have the weapons. If the attack is financial, we have the weapons. And the weapons of our warfare are not of this world, but they are spiritual and more powerful than any earthly attack (2 Corinthians 10:3-5).

It is true that the enemy has power, but we have been given authority over all of his power (Luke 10:19). What does that mean? That means we can order his power to stop. We can order his power to fail. We can order his power to leave. It doesn’t give us the ability to go on spiritual vacation or to turn our back on him. The enemy cannot be trusted and the enemy does not play by general rules, but he is forced by our authority to submit to the rules of God. And we have been given authority through the Son of God to crush and defeat every attack.

Of course, we know that faith is required to please God (Hebrews 11:6) and that it activates the power and authority here on earth. But first and foremost and above all, we must understand, receive, and submit to the law of love because God’s Word tells us that nothing, including faith, will work outside of love (Galatians 5:6). In fact, 1 Corinthians 13:13 tells us that faith, hope, and love are the three most important things for us to continue in. But then we are reminded that of the three, love is the greatest.

Why is this? Why is love so important and so great? It’s because love is the ultimate power of the universe. It is the very essence and substance of God. In fact, God’s Word tells us that He, himself, is love (1 John 4:16). And love never fails, nor can it be defeated. It conquers all and activates faith that is your victory that overcomes the world (1 John 5:4).

Scripture References:

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39)

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)

And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. (1 John 4:16)

Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. (Romans 5:5)

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. (1 John 4:7-8)

And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:8)

If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? (1 John 4:20)

And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:13)

HEALING

BEIN SPITE OF THE DOCTRINE OF THE SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD CONCERNING HEALING, EVERY ONE WHO WAS SICK IN MALTA GOT HEALED WHEN APOSTLE PAUL PRAYED FOR THEM

Acts 28:
1    Now when they had escaped, they then found out that the island was called Malta.
2    And the natives showed us unusual kindness; for they kindled a fire and made us all welcome, because of the rain that was falling and because of the cold.
3    But when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and laid them on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat, and fastened on his hand.
4    So when the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, “No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he has escaped the sea, yet justice does not allow to live.”
5    But he shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm.
6    However, they were expecting that he would swell up or suddenly fall down dead. But after they had looked for a long time and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds and said that he was a god.
7    In that region there was an estate of the leading citizen of the island, whose name was Publius, who received us and entertained us courteously for three days.
8    And it happened that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and dysentery. Paul went in to him and prayed, and he laid his hands on him and healed him.
9    So when this was done, the rest of those on the island who had diseases also came and were healed.
10    They also honored us in many ways; and when we departed, they provided such things as were necessary.

Who Has the Authority Now?

LARRY OLLISON

In Romans 8:37 Paul said, “In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” What does this mean to be more than a conqueror? A person who is more than a conqueror is someone who didn’t have to fight the battle but gets to enjoy all the benefits of the victory. And, according to the Bible, if you are a Christian, then that’s you!

In the beginning, God placed Adam and Eve here on the earth in the Garden of Eden. He gave them authority over everything and only restricted them from one thing: they were not to eat the fruit of the tree in the midst of the Garden. If they ate it, they would die (Genesis 2:7,15-17).

Then Satan, in the form of a serpent, came into the Garden. He told Eve that God was a liar and that God’s motives were not pure (Genesis 3). Unfortunately, Eve believed Satan and acted against God’s command. The result was that Satan, through his deception, separated man from fellowship with God. It looked like Satan had destroyed God’s creation. Adam gave up his authority over this world to Satan. It looked like all was lost, but God had a plan.

God the Father sent His Son, Jesus, into the world as a man. While He was here, He taught about the nature of God the Father and He went about healing the sick, raising the dead, and proclaiming the good news.

Jesus said in John 8:44, that Satan is a liar and a murderer. And that’s what Satan tried to do to Jesus. The Bible tells us that on the night Jesus was betrayed that Satan himself entered into the body of Judas and betrayed Jesus (Luke 22:3). Satan was not leaving a job like this to one of his underling demons. Everything was riding on this one. He took care of it himself.

When Jesus died, I’m sure Satan thought he had just won a great victory, but was he mistaken! The Bible says that Jesus not only defeated death when He came out of the grave, but He also made a public display of Satan (2 Timothy 1:10; Colossians 2:15 KJV). He humiliated him in the spirit realm and took away from him the authority that Satan had taken from Adam.

Now we are getting to the point. The authority that Jesus took from Satan, He gave to His Church. Jesus gave the authority over the earth back to those who believe, and along with that, He gave us authority over Satan and all the works of his kingdom. Every believer has that authority.

Jesus said in Luke 10:19, “Behold, I give you authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” What does this mean to us?

As Christians, the only way Satan can destroy our lives is if we let him. Jesus has given every believer authority over the works of the devil. So, how does Satan get into the position to torment us? Once again, it’s because we let him. Remember, that’s what happened in the Garden of Eden. Satan didn’t pluck the fruit from the tree and put it into the mouths of Adam and Eve. He deceived them and they did it.

When Satan comes around with his bag of lies, don’t listen to him. Submit yourself unto God. Resist the devil and he will flee.

Remember, you are more than a conqueror through Jesus who loves you (Romans 8:37).

YOUR CHOICE

palms If You Have Been Given a Negative Report
Larry Ollison

The world is full of negative reports. It seems that everywhere you go, there is someone telling you, “You won’t make it.” “You can’t win.” “God doesn’t want to heal you.” “Faith doesn’t work,” etc. The world does not want you to make it. But here’s the good news. God does!

God’s Word is positive. His Word tells us in Psalm 103:3 that He heals all our diseases and in Psalm 34:19, His Word says, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.”

When some people hear a negative report, they become discouraged. God does not want us to become discouraged. He wants us to believe Him. He wants us to believe that He will deliver us like He said He would. He wants us to trust in Him so He can perform His Word in our lives.

Discouragement is a combination of fear, depression, and a lack of hope. We could almost call it “anti-faith.” Discouragement is not from God and He does not want you to have it. When we are discouraged, we do not function in the spirit realm the way God wants us to. When we are discouraged, it becomes difficult to hear God and easier to listen to the discouraging words of the world.

Listen to this. When the Hebrews left Egypt under the leadership of Moses, God told them that if they would go into the Promised Land, He would fight all their battles for them.

When they reached the Promised Land, they sent out twelve spies and when the spies returned, they all gave their reports. The spies did not all agree. Two of the spies gave a positive, encouraging report and ten spies gave a negative, discouraging report.

At that point, the people had a choice. Which report would they believe? Would they believe the report of the majority or would they believe God’s promise? Would they go by what they saw or would they go by what God said? Well, sadly, the people chose to believe the negative report instead of the positive report. The Bible says the people had become discouraged because of the negative report and decided not to enter into the land God had for them.

Today many Christians are doing the same thing. Because they choose to believe the negative report of the world and to believe what they see and hear, instead of believing what God promised, they miss many blessings God has set aside for those who believe.

Jesus said in Mark 16:17, “These signs shall follow those who believe.” He didn’t say these signs shall follow those who doubt, fear, or worry. He said, “These sign shall follow those who believe.” Who are those who believe? They are the ones who believe that God will do what He said He would do. They have total trust, belief, and faith in Him.

Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” In order to receive from God, we must believe Him and His Word.

So, today let me say this. If you have just been given a negative, discouraging report, you have a choice to make. Do you believe the evil report or do you believe God? Do you put your belief in what you see or do you put your faith in what God says?

Remember, what 2 Corinthians 5:7 says: “For we walk by faith and not by sight.

FREEDOM

CE

Prosperity is Freedom

In Luke 4, Jesus came to His hometown of Nazareth. He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and stood up to read. He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah, He opened it, and began to read. He read, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord” (Luke 4:18,19).

After reading this from Isaiah, He closed the book, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. Everyone’s eyes in the synagogue were fixed on Him.

Then Jesus said, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing” (v.21). When Jesus made this statement, He made it very clear why He was anointed.

First of all, He was anointed to preach the gospel to the poor. What is the gospel? The gospel is good news! Jesus came to preach good news to the poor! Now, what do you think that good news was? Was it that they were to always be poor and without hope? No, that is not good news.

The good news was that even though they didn’t have much, even though they were a nation held captive by the Romans, they could be set free from poverty. They could have their needs met. In Matthew 6:33, Jesus even shared how that could be accomplished. While talking about earthly possessions, He said, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Notice, He said, “shall be added to you.”

I know that in some religious circles it seems poverty is next to godliness. Nothing could be further from the truth. Jesus did not come to make the poor poorer. He did not come to keep the poor, poor. He came to set the captives free.

Prosperity is a concept Jesus taught and it was something He wanted to give, not something He wanted to take away.

In Luke 6:38, Jesus said, “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

Several times Jesus said that He did not say anything unless the Father instructed Him to say it. (John 8:28, for instance.) So, it must be the will of the Father for His children to prosper.

Now, prosperity is not necessarily money. I know of people who are very prosperous and they do not have a large bank account. However, God’s will is for us to have our needs met. And if a lack of money is going to cause the electric or gas company to end your service and make your family go without heat in your home, then money to pay the bill is a need.

Jesus said that He would meet our needs, but let’s put balance in here. He did give conditions. We can see this in the two verses we read earlier. Matthew 6:33 said we need to seek His kingdom first. And Luke 6:38 said that in order to receive, we had to give. We need to remember these things and not think of prosperity as a heavenly lottery ticket.

Remember this. Jesus came to set you free from everything that is a bondage. Poverty is bondage. Prosperity is freedom. Prosperity is God’s will for you

THE SOLUTION

BCProsperity is the Solution to Lack

Your problem is not your problem. Your problem is not having a solution to your problem. The solution to your problem will render your problem powerless. Looking at your problem, complaining about your problem, and worrying about your problem does not solve your problem. Worry does not remove your problem, but in reality causes it to expand into other areas of your life.

In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth, He saw that darkness was on the face of the deep. He did not fear the darkness, nor did He worry about how to deal with the darkness. Instead, He said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. He did not speak to the darkness, nor did He rebuke it. The presence of the light caused the darkness to leave. Where there is light, darkness cannot exist.

Ephesians 5:1 tells us that we are to imitate God. However, when it comes to darkness and trouble in our lives, we tend to deal with it quite differently than God dealt with darkness. While it is true that we, as New Covenant believers, have been given authority over all the power of the enemy, the enemy (or the darkness) is not really our problem. The problem is a lack of light.

Too often we stand rebuking the enemy to get him to go, while the Scripture actually tells us to submit to God and resist the enemy and he will flee from us (James 4:7). Let me explain in a little more detail.

Most people who have a financial problem feel that money is the solution to their problem. While it is true that money can solve an immediate problem (darkness), the true solution is prosperity (light) that removes the problem once and for all. Rebuking the spirit of darkness is a good thing, but it is only profitable if the house that has been vacated is filled with the spirit of light. Otherwise, according to the Bible, the evil spirit returns and finding his house swept clean, he brings more spirits with him and the second condition is worse than the first (Matthew 12:43-45). So while we have authority to rebuke the storms of life, they must be replaced with the light of life. Otherwise, the storms come back and continue with greater intensity.

So what is the point in all this? To rebuke the spirit of debt, poverty, and lack is a good thing, but we must call forth the spirit of prosperity, abundance, and overflow.

During the early years of my ministry, an elder minister discussed with me how a Christian should not be in poverty. I remember him telling me that Christians should walk in the blessing. But later in the conversation, he made it very clear to me that he did not believe in the so-called prosperity message of the gospel. This illustrates the unbalanced teaching that most Christians have received. While they pray for deliverance from their financial woes, they have the underlying concept taught by many leaders that it’s wrong to be rich, when in reality, the prosperity and overflow of God’s abundance would automatically remove all of their lack and shortage in life, while at the same time giving them an abundant overflow so they could meet the needs of others. (2 Corinthians 8:9.)

As Jesus traveled on a circuit going from town to town and village to village throughout the Galilee, the Bible clearly tells us that He taught the Good News to the poor. What is the Good News to the poor? Well, it was no different back then than it is today. Good news to a person in poverty is simply this. The blessing of God will take you out of poverty and you will be prosperous in everything you put your hand to. That’s good news! To tell people that God wants them to continue to be poor is not good news. In fact, it is depressing.

Below is a list of several translations of 2 Corinthians 9:8. You can use any version you want and you will come up with the same message. God wants to pour overflow into His people so that His people will be a blessing to the world. God has never had a problem getting money to people. Getting money through people, however, has been an issue. As a Christian, you are called to be a conduit where God pours into you with abundance and blessings flow from you abundantly. Those who are of faith are the seed of Abraham and heirs to the promise (Galatians 3:29). God told Abraham that through him all the nations of the world would be blessed (Genesis 12:3).

When disasters take place, people should not have to call upon their governments for help. The Church should have storehouses so extensive that people and the government look to the Church for assistance. You can spend your life fighting the darkness, or you can call forth the light, the blessing, and the abundance of God and separate the darkness forever (Matthew 5:16).

2 Corinthians 9:8

God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. (NLT)

God can give you all you need. He will give you more than enough. You will have everything you need for yourselves. And you will have enough left over to give when there is a need. (NLV)

Moreover, God has the power to provide you with every gracious gift in abundance, so that always in every way you will have all you need yourselves and be able to provide abundantly for every good cause. (CJB)

God can bless you with everything you need, and you will always have more than enough to do all kinds of good things for others. (CEV)

God is ready to overwhelm you with more blessings than you could ever imagine so that you’ll always be taken care of in every way and you’ll have more than enough to share. (VOICE)

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. (NKJV)

No matter how you translate it, it says the same thing: God will provide for you so you can provide for others.

BY HIS SPIRIT …

Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty – Zechariah 4:6, NIV

In this day and age, we are equipped with so many wonderful resources in the natural: technology, education, abilities. It’s easy to rely on our own natural strength for so many things. We have to remember that this natural world is only temporary, but the spiritual realm is eternal. We aren’t limited to the earth’s resources; we have unlimited spiritual resources by the Spirit of God.

There are some things in life that can’t happen by human thinking and reasoning. There are things that won’t be solved by natural power and might. But God is not limited by the resources of this world. When you open the door of faith in your heart, God will move through you in powerful ways by His Spirit.

By His Spirit, you can overcome temptation. By His Spirit, you can receive healing. By His Spirit, you can fulfill every dream and desire in your heart. No matter what challenges or obstacles you may be facing today, know that you can live in complete victory by His Spirit!

WHOSE MESS?

Out of the heart come evil thoughts . . . . These are what defile a person. —Matthew 15:19-20

“Could they not carry their own garbage this far?” I grumbled to Jay as I picked up empty bottles from the beach and tossed them into the trash bin less than 20 feet away. “Did leaving the beach a mess for others make them feel better about themselves? I sure hope these people are tourists. I don’t want to think that any locals would treat our beach with such disrespect.”

The very next day I came across a prayer I had written years earlier about judging others. My own words reminded me of how wrong I was to take pride in cleaning up other people’s messes. The truth is, I have plenty of my own that I simply ignore—especially in the spiritual sense.

I am quick to claim that the reason I can’t get my life in order is because others keep messing it up. And I am quick to conclude that the “garbage” stinking up my surroundings belongs to someone other than me. But neither is true. Nothing outside of me can condemn or contaminate me—only what’s inside (Matt. 15:19-20). The real garbage is the attitude that causes me to turn up my nose at a tiny whiff of someone else’s sin while ignoring the stench of my own.

Forgive me, Lord, for refusing to throw away my own “trash.” Open my eyes to the damage that pride does to Your natural and spiritual creation. May I have no part of it.

Most of us are farsighted about sin—we see the sins of others but not our own.

ALL THE WRONG REASONS ….

And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and entreated him – Luke 15:25-28

If this elder son had considered his brother, he would have rejoiced at his return even as his father did. Rather, he was totally self-centered (that’s pride) and became angry. This illustrates Proverbs 13:10; “only by pride cometh contention.”

How can we esteem others better than ourselves when in truth we really think we are better than others? Some people are better athletes than others. Some are better businessmen than others. Some are better speakers than others, and so forth. First, we need to recognize that our accomplishments don’t make us better than others. There is a difference between what we do and who we are.

Better performance does not make a better person. A person’s character can be severely wanting even though his performance is good. A classic example of this is found in the Pharisees of Jesus’ day. They did the right things for all the wrong reasons. Inside they were corrupt. So our evaluation of others needs to change. God judges by looking on the inside, not the outside (1 Sam. 16:7). We need to esteem others on a different basis than what most of us do.

Secondly, to esteem someone better than ourselves simply means to value them more than we value ourselves. To some that may seem impossible, but it isn’t.

It is exactly what Jesus did. If Jesus, who was God in the flesh (1 Tim. 3:16), could humble Himself and value our good above His own welfare, then we should certainly be able to do the same. It can happen when we die to self and live to God.

HOW TO TEST YOUR THOUGHTS

…We take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. – 2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV

You will never be any better, wiser or happier than the thoughts that influence you. You say, ‘I can’t help it; these thoughts just come into my mind.’ Yes, you can! ‘The weapons we fight with…have divine power to demolish strongholds…we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.’ (2 Corinthians 10:4–5 NIV) A ‘stronghold’ is a thought–pattern that controls you. It could be fear, greed, inferiority, lust, etc. It’s a ‘stronghold’ because it holds you strongly in its grip. How do you break that grip? With God’s Word. For example, when fear and inadequacy tell you you’re not good enough to succeed, become proactive and say, ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.’ (Philippians 4:13 NKJV) If your immediate goal is to ‘feel good’, you’ll never develop self–control. ‘For the time being no discipline brings joy, but seems grievous and painful; but afterwards it yields a peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it…’ (Hebrews 12:11 AMP) Discipline doesn’t bring immediate joy, but it brings lasting joy later on. Note the words ‘trained by it’. You must train your mind to go the right way; otherwise it’ll take you the wrong way. God says, ‘…I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life…’ (Deuteronomy 30:19 NKJV) God gives you choices. But He won’t make your choices for you; you must do that. In order to walk in God’s blessing each day, you must choose the right thoughts each day, and the longer you keep doing it the easier it will become. You’ve just got to get through the ‘training’ period.

CAST YOUR CARES AND LIVE WORRY-FREE

Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.1 PETER 5:7

When Jesus died on the cross, He unleashed all the blessings of God into our lives. And God’s blessings have been flowing from His throne to us ever since. These blessings cannot be stopped. The only way they can be stopped is when we worry. That’s why God specifically tells us to cast our cares on Him.

You see, when you worry about a particular area of your life, you constrict God’s supply into that area. Now, God is still supplying the blessing, but it is not coming through because your worrying is constricting the “supply pipe”! You may pray, “Oh God, why aren’t You supplying me in this area of my life?” God says, “I am supplying. If you will let go, you’ll let My supply flow into that area.”

What are you worried about today? Not having enough for your daily provision? A painful symptom in your body? A mistake you made? Beloved, see the Father’s heart and love for you as He invites you to simply cast all your cares on Him. His Word tells you that He cares for you “affectionately” and “watchfully”. This means that nothing escapes His notice when it comes to your needs. So rest knowing that He will give you His best, and let His abundant supply provide for every breakthrough you need!

GET GOD’S WORD FOR IT

Matthew 4:4 – …He [Jesus] answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”

When the devil tempted Jesus, Jesus turned the Word of God on him, saying, “It is written…It is written…It is written…” (Matthew 4:4, 7, 10)

Likewise, should the devil remind you of the pain in your body, say what God’s Word says: “It is written, ‘By His stripes I am healed!’” (Isaiah 53:5; 1 Peter 2:24) And tell Daddy God, “I have Your Word for it and I am standing on Your Word. I am not trying to be healed. My healing has already happened. I don’t care what this body says. It has to line up with Your Word because by Jesus’ stripes I am healed!”

And if the devil says to you, “Look at the meager balance in your bank account. How are you going to pay your bills?” just say, “I’m not going to worry because I know that my God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19) It doesn’t matter how much I have in the bank. God’s Word tells me that as the need arises, the supply will be there!”

When fear grips you, don’t say to yourself, “This fear is stupid. Come on, what are the chances of it happening to me?” Don’t try to rationalize or reason your fear away. Instead, speak God’s Word into the situation. Say, “It is written, ‘For God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.’” (2 Timothy 1:7) What if the fear returns? Speak God’s Word again. Say, “It is written, ‘For God has not given me a spirit of fear…’”

When the devil tries to deceive you, give him the Word of God. There is something about the Word of God that causes him not to want to hang around those who use it. It reminds him of Jesus, the Word made flesh (John 1:14),

THE FATHER’S LOVE

And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. – Luke 15:20

For this boy’s father to have seen him “a great way off” would imply that the Father had been eagerly awaiting his son’s return. Certainly, in the spiritual application of this parable, our Heavenly Father is longing to cleanse and receive the sinner, if he will just repent and come to Him for forgiveness.

Jesus was using this parable to rebuke the Pharisees for their harsh, self-righteous, unforgiving attitude towards sinners. The older brother in this parable was symbolic of the Pharisees. Like this brother, the Pharisees had not lived an outward life of rebellion and they thought that others who didn’t measure up to their standards were surely hated by God. But, “God so loved the world” and “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.”

Just as this older brother was self-centered and jealous, the Pharisees were not operating in the love of God towards sinners because they were so in love with themselves. They resented Jesus giving the sinners what the Pharisees thought they deserved.

If relationship with his father had been the real desire of the older brother, he would have rejoiced to see his father’s joy at the return of his son. The repentant prodigal son had learned the vanity of things and he had come home to a relationship with his father that neither he nor his older brother had known before.

The scribes and Pharisees, like the older brother, had gotten caught up in serving self through their religious actions. The publicans and sinners who repented were supplying their Father with what He really wanted – relationship.

Relationship with the Father was always available to the scribes and Pharisees, but they chose the temporal praise of men rather than relationship with God.

Using Words to Overcome
(LARRY OLLISON)

The Word of God has countless scriptures to show us that we will have what we speak. Our words are vitally important. Remember, life and death are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). The reason Jesus warned us about using idle or useless words in Matthew 12:36 was because our words have the power to accept or reject the promises found in our covenant with God. What we confess is a very important thing. Sometimes we forget how important our words actually are. In Ecclesiastes 5:2,3 it says, “Do not be rash with your mouth, and let not your heart utter anything hastily before God. For God is in heaven, and you on earth; therefore let your words be few. For a dream comes through much activity, and a fool’s voice is known by his many words.”

Have you ever met somebody that had a lot of words? If your words are few, you will probably have more time to think. We must understand that words are important.

Revelation 12:11 says, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony.”

Your blood cannot save you. Your blood cannot heal you. Your blood cannot protect you. But the blood of Jesus can do it all. Jesus shed His blood so you could have overcoming power. Do you need to overcome something in your life? Well, you have overcoming power by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of your testimony.

Proverbs 10:11 says, “The mouth of the righteous is a well of life.”

The Bible tells us that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks, but it’s your mind that determines what you put into your heart. In other words, you can dip down into that well and draw out life. God gave you a brain to think with. Your brain, which determines what you put into your heart, controls your mouth.

If we are serious about our Christian walk, sometimes we need to be wise enough to say, “I don’t choose to hear that.” I respect my wife, Loretta, because she’s not afraid to take a stand in this area. We have decided we will not allow unwholesome TV shows or movies in our home. Why? If we watch them, we’re allowing our eyes and ears to bring unhealthy thoughts into our minds. Whatever comes into our minds will be what we meditate on and those things will eventually enter our hearts. And, out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth will speak.

A little girl about three years old was in my office with her grandmother. Somebody walked in the office and asked her what she was doing. The little girl said “Coloring. I love to color.” The two talked for a minute and the adult asked, “Can I have your book?” The person was teasing the little girl. The little girl replied, “Get your [blank] hands off my book.”

This little girl was young enough that she didn’t understand how to govern what had come into her mind and lodged in her heart. This is why we need to protect our children. They don’t know what they should have or shouldn’t have in their hearts.

This incident proved to be a true illustration of Matthew 12:34, because out of the abundance of her heart, her mouth spoke. Your kids pick up what you’re speaking, and what you say will come out of their mouths. The fact is it doesn’t change when we get to be adults. The same principle works regardless of who we are or how much we don’t think it applies to us. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. It is a spiritual principle.

MONEY

AAMoney is an Amplifier

The devil is a liar. The only way he can destroy God’s work in us is to get us to believe his lies. For years, much of the church has believed that in order to be holy and in order to be humble, in order to be glorious and sanctified, we must be poor.

Satan will cause fear to rise up in people if you start mentioning the word money in a church. The reason why is that many have been taught that money will corrupt you, that money will give you bad character. That is a lie! Money is nothing more than an amplifier.

If a man, who doesn’t have a whole lot of money, is taking a woman to a cheap motel and committing adultery, lots of money or lack of money won’t change his character. If this same man gets rich, the only thing that will change is he will fly the woman to a tropical island resort and commit adultery in an expensive hotel. It’s not going to change his bad character. Money doesn’t change your character. It just amplifies your character.

If you are a good person and you don’t have much money, but you are giving one or two dollars to the poor and all of a sudden you get a bunch of money, it’s going to amplify your character and you will give thousands of dollars to the poor. Money amplifies the character that is already within you. It doesn’t change your character. We’ve used that as an excuse for too long.

The Bible never says money will corrupt you. We have all heard that the Bible says money is the root of all evil. But that is not what it says! The Bible says, “The love of money is a root of all kinds of evil” (1 Timothy 6:10). You trace it out and you’ll find the love of money is what is behind pornography, murder, and gambling. That love of money is what’s behind every sin that there is. The love of money may be a root of all kinds of evil – but it’s not the money that’s evil.

God said through the prophet Habakkuk, “Look among the nations and watch – be utterly astounded! For I will work a work in your days which you would not believe, though it were told you” (Habakkuk 1:5). This scripture lets us know something important. God is getting ready to do a work in these last days in His Church that is so astonishing, so phenomenal, that some of us will not believe it even after it is told to us because it is something that will just set us ablaze with the glory of God. We have to be ready. People are going to be drawn to the glory of God. They are not going to be drawn to a beat down, wimpy church.

Most Christians have the door closed when it comes to prosperity in their lives. Don’t let yourself become accustomed to believing that things are never going to get any better. We must start living in the overflow. The man who fears (honors, respects, esteems) God lives in prosperity.

“Who is the man that fears the LORD? Him shall He teach in the way He chooses. He himself shall dwell in prosperity, and his descendants shall inherit the earth” (Psalm 25:12-13).

Who is to inherit the earth? You and me! We are the descendants. We are the ones who inherit.

God enjoys our prosperity. “Let them shout for joy and be glad, who favor My righteous cause; and let them say continually, ‘Let the LORD be magnified, Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant'” (Psalm 35:27). This verse doesn’t say that God has pleasure in the poverty of His servant, but pleasure in the prosperity of His servant. This is not just talking about money. It is talking about living in the overflow of God’s goodness and His abundance.!

“Then it shall be to Me a name of joy, a praise, and an honor before all nations of the earth, who shall hear all the good that I do to them; they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness (the glory) and all the prosperity that I provide for it” (Jeremiah 33:9).

You may say, “Well, that’s for Israel, not us.” That is wrong thinking! Galatians 3:29 says, “If you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” We are the inheritors of the promises.

That is good news! Let’s live in the overflow that God desires for us. Let’s live where God wants us to live.

THE GOD OF MIRACLES IS ALIVE

JESUS CHRIST WHO IS THE SAME YESTERDAY TODAY AND FOREVER FED 5,000 PEOPLE WITH OUT ASKING FOR ANY MONEY UNLIKE LIKE THE FALSE TV EVANGELISTS TODAY WHO CAN DO NOTHING WITHOUT BEGGING FOR MONEY

MATTHEW 14:13 When Jesus heard it, He departed from there by boat to a deserted place by Himself. But when the multitudes heard it, they followed Him on foot from the cities.
14 And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick

15 When it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages and buy themselves food.”
16 But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”
17 And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.”
18 He said, “Bring them here to Me.”
19 Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes.
20 So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained.
21 Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

JESUS CHRIST GAVE HIS FRIENDS A NET BREAKING BOAT SINKING LOAD OF FISH WHEN THEY DIDN’T CATCH ANYTHING. THIS IS SOMETHING FALSE PREACHERS CANNOT DO TODAY:

Luke 5: 1 So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to hear the word of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret,
2 and saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone from them and were washing their nets.
3 Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat.
4 When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.”
5 But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.”
6 And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking.
7 So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.
8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!”
9 For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken;
10 and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.”
11 So when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed Him.

A Health and Wealth Christian

CD A Health and Wealth Christian

“And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day” (Deuteronomy 8:18).

I have been accused of being a “health and wealth” preacher. My response is, “Guilty as charged!” God’s Word is full of His goodness. In fact, God’s goodness is in His glory. James 1:17 says that good gifts come from God and that God doesn’t change. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that health and prosperity are good and sickness and poverty are bad. Health and prosperity are a part of The Blessing and sickness and disease are a part of the curse.

Galatians 3:13 says that Jesus came to earth to redeem us from the curse of the law. In other words, part of His mission and goal was to make a way for those who would receive Him to walk in life, health, and prosperity.

Did Jesus accomplish on the earth what He was sent to accomplish? Did Jesus complete the task that His Father sent Him to do? Did Jesus make a way for mankind to be redeemed from the curse of the law? Of course He did! Jesus did not fail in any part of the mission He was sent to do. Upon returning to the Father after His ascension, I guarantee you that Jesus did not have to make up an excuse or give a reason why He didn’t do everything He was sent to do. He completed everything. He was the perfect sacrifice and paid in full everything that was to be paid for man’s redemption.

The curse of the law, as described in Deuteronomy chapter 28, involved three parts: 1) death, 2) sickness and disease, and 3) poverty. Jesus paid the price in full for our complete redemption – not just a third, not two-thirds, but completely in full. When Jesus said, “It is finished,” it was finished. God’s plan is for us to replace the curse in our life with The Blessing. We replace death with life. We replace sickness with health. And we replace poverty with prosperity.

If it is true, and it is, that Jesus redeemed us from the complete curse, then how do we walk in The Blessing that He has paid for? Quite simply, a biblical principle is that we only receive what we believe. If we believe He died for our sins, we receive everlasting life. Does everyone on earth receive everlasting life? No. Even though it is available to everyone and even though Jesus paid the price in full so that the whole world could be saved, only those who believe in Him and receive Him as their Lord and Savior actually acquire everlasting life.

But everlasting life is only one-third of The Blessing. What about health and prosperity?

A Bible word we rarely used is propitiation. The simplest definition for this word is substitute. First John 2:2 says, “And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.” Jesus paid the price we could not pay. He died for our sins so that we could live. He substituted His death for ours. Because He died, we will never die.

About seven hundred years before Jesus was born on the earth, Isaiah prophesied that a Messiah was coming who would be bruised for us. Jesus is the fulfillment of that prophesy and in 1 Peter 2:24 we are told that by His stripes we have been healed. He paid the price for our healing. He took pain upon His body so that we could live free from pain. He was our propitiation. He was our substitute.

The third part of the curse was poverty. In the same way that Jesus died so that we can live and in the same way that He took on sickness so we could be well, He also took on poverty so we could live in prosperity. In 2 Corinthians 8:9, the Bible says, “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.”

Although the prosperity message may not always be taught properly, and sometimes is even taught with the wrong motive, the truth is prosperity is a part of The Blessing and God fully expects us to receive completely all that He has sent Jesus to accomplish.

Recently, I heard a sermon about how heaven rejoices when someone receives eternal life. That is very true. “Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents” (Luke 15:10). But also there is great joy in heaven when a saint becomes prosperous. “…Let the LORD be magnified, Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant” (Psalm 35:27).

Do not be deceived. God is the God of completeness. He doesn’t do things halfway. So when He sent Jesus to redeem us from the curse of the law, He redeemed us from all of it. And we receive that blessing according to our faith.

So, the next time somebody asks you, “Are you a health and wealth Christian?” you should stand up straight and boldly say, “Yes, I am, because I am a child of God, the God of The Blessing!”

Scripture References:

“A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous” (Proverbs 13:22).

“I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places, that you may know that I, the LORD, Who call you by your name, am the God of Israel” (Isaiah 45:3).

“Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: ‘I am the LORD your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you by the way you should go'” (Isaiah 48:17).

“For God gives wisdom and knowledge and joy to a man who is good in His sight; but to the sinner He gives the work of gathering and collecting, that he may give to him who is good before God…” (Ecclesiastes 2:26).

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6:33).

WORD OF FAITH

ADWhy I Am “Word of Faith”
by Dr. Larry Ollison

Years ago when our church was new, many people asked, “What kind of a church are you?” Because my background was Baptist and I had attended a Southern Baptist University, but had become a “charismatic” minister, I usually answered, “Our church is a non-denominational, Spirit-Filled, Full Gospel, Word of Faith, Charismatic, Pentecostal church.” When people would look at me with one eyebrow raised after my answer, I would usually come back and say, “Pick one of those and we will be fine.”

Later when the yellow page man came to get our church advertisement, the only listing he could find for our church was under the “non-denominational” heading. As time went on, I began to realize that everyone’s definition of “non-denominational” was not the same. In the phone book and in the newspapers, “non-denominational” had in its listings some churches that believed in speaking in tongues and some churches that did not. Some churches were liberal and some were conservative. I also discovered that in many areas of the country Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses, new age organizations, and eastern religions were listed under “non-denominational.”

Non-denominational tells what I am not. That’s like having a business card that says, “I am not a plumber. I am not a carpenter. And I am not a car salesman.” While it may be true that I am none of these, it doesn’t tell what I am.

So, I went on a quest. What kind of a church did we have anyway? Of course, as a Christian minister, I thought the best place to look would be in the Bible.

Once in a deacon’s meeting years ago when I was the pastor of a Southern Baptist church, one of the deacons stood up and said, “I’m proud to be a Baptist, because the first Christian in the Bible was John and he called himself a Baptist.” Looking back on this, it’s actually quite funny. First of all, the word Baptist is a word that was not translated from the Greek text. It was only transliterated. If it had been translated properly, John would have been called “John the Immerser,” or “John the Dunker.”

Actually, John the Baptist was never a Christian anyway. During his lifetime, the church did not exist and he was living under the Old Covenant. John died before the resurrection of Jesus. There were no Christians on this earth until Jesus put His blood on the Mercy Seat in heaven and became the firstfruits into the Kingdom. (1 Corinthians 15:20; Romans 8:29) By this He made a way for us to follow Him and be a part of His body (the Church).

So, I studied Paul and the evangelists and pastors who were his contemporaries. In Romans chapter 10, verse 8, Paul tells what kind of a preacher he was. And not only did he say what kind of preacher he was, but he told what he and the fellow Christian ministers of the day were preaching. In his own words he said he preached “the word of faith.”

That day I decided I was going to be like Paul and the first century ministers. I officially became a Word of Faith minister and our church officially became a Word of Faith church. Since that day, I know who I am and I know where I stand. Word of Faith says what I am.

Interestingly, when you call yourself a Word of Faith minister, there are those who will point and ridicule. One man said to me, “Are you one of those ‘health and wealth’ ministers?” It makes you wonder what people expect. Would they prefer to listen to a “sickness and poverty” minister? When someone asks, “Are you a part of the ‘name it and claim it,’ ‘blab it and grab it,’ ‘lip it and grip it’ group?” my answer is, “Yes, of course I am.” We must name God’s promises and claim God’s promises in order to receive God’s promises.

So, there you have it. When you look in the phone book or in the newspaper in our area and you see the church listings, look under “Word of Faith.” That’s where I am.

“But what does it say? ‘The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart’ (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:8-10)

Well…I would recommend Pastors and Evangelists around the world to WATCH what is happening in this video. YOU will be held are accountable to God. This is the “counterfeit anointing”. The “New Age” demonic spirit that comes as an angel of light. “Bill Johnson” of Bethel Church speaks about the manifestations at his church of gold dust, wind gusts, fire tunnels, glory clouds, etc. The Home of the music band “Jesus Culture”. WAKE UP Church! These are all false teachers that are a part of the “New Apostolic Reformation”.

“But, of course, there must be divisions (heresies) among you so that you who have God’s approval will be recognized!” -1 Corinthians 11:19

NOT PROFITABLE

AAThe Word Without Faith Is Not Profitable

“Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need” (Phil. 4:11-12).

The very next verse in this well-known passage says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (v. 13).

The fullness of this verse means: I can do all things through Christ, the Anointed One and His anointing, who strengthens me to do the things I can’t get done on my own. Therefore, there is nothing He cannot strengthen us to do as long as what we want to do is in the will of God for our lives. Having faith is part of His will for us. Here are some benefits of faith.

Romans 5:1 says, “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”

Think about that. Having been justified by faith we have peace. And we have access into God’s grace, which is His unmerited, divine favor – His goodness towards those who do not deserve it and cannot earn it. We all fit in that category; however, not everyone receives this free gift of God

“For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it” (Heb. 4:2).

Two groups of people heard the gospel. One of them received it. One of them did not receive it. The gospel was profitable for the group that mixed it with faith. It was not profitable for the group that did not mix it with faith. The Word did not work for the second group of people because they would not receive it by faith.

There is a rest that remains for the people of God. (Heb. 4:9.) It is a supernatural rest and a supernatural peace that is available for all who believe. So Christians really have no excuse for not being at peace. You may say, “Oh, but Pastor Larry, you just don’t know what I am going through. I have had disaster after disaster. Everything in my life has gone wrong – physically, financially and emotionally. I am a mess.” The truth is it doesn’t matter what’s gone wrong in your life. You can be at peace and at rest regardless of the circumstances. Remember, you can do all things through Christ. That means you can be at rest in the storm

Jesus continually taught this concept of peace, but the disciples kept missing it. He never said He would remove the storms. He said He would give us peace in the storm. (John 16:33.) In the storm, we can rest in the boat. (Mark 4:37-38.) In the storm, we can walk on the water. (Matt. 14:24,29.) The storm still goes by our house and all around it, but when it’s over, our house remains. (Matt. 7:24-25.) In the storm, we can have faith. In the storm, we can have rest. In the storm, we can have peace. We can survive the storm, because we are at rest and in faith – all the way through it.

A lot of people say, “This faith thing doesn’t work. I tried it once and it just doesn’t work.” We don’t just try God. We receive His Spirit (the Holy Spirit) within us. We don’t test and try. We don’t just try faith. We’re either in faith or we’re not in faith. We either believe God or we don’t believe God.

One scripture concerning tithing that says test God, prove Him and try Him in it and see if He won’t do as He promises (Mal. 3:10.) God wants us to take advantage of the many “if you do this, then I’ll do that” blessings He’s made available for us in His Word. However, we cannot try the foundational truths of God. We’re either saved or we’re lost. We’re either in faith or in fear. We either accept the grace or refuse it. There is no middle ground.

Excerpt from Larry Ollison’s book, “The Practical Handbook for Christian Living.”

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN SAYING?

Proverbs 18:21 – Death and life are in the power of the tongue…

Many things in life can cause us to fear—losing our jobs, deadly diseases, terrorist attacks and so on. When these things confront us, we tend to give in to worry and fear, and start talking about our fears.

Job was no different. He constantly feared that God would punish him and his family because he kept thinking that his sons had sinned against God. He would get up early in the morning to offer burnt sacrifices, saying, “It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” And the Bible tells us that he did this “regularly”. (Job 1:5)

So Job kept confessing the sins of his sons and fearing that something terrible would happen to him and his family. In fact, his sin-consciousness didn’t just produce fear, the Bible tells us that he “greatly feared”. (Job 3:25)

It is important that we understand that it was Job’s sin-consciousness that opened the door to Satan. His preoccupation with sins that his family may have committed gave Satan the opportunity to bring death and destruction into his life. God had a hedge of protection around Job. But when he started being sin-conscious and having a fearful expectation of judgment, the hedge was removed and Satan could attack him. (Job 1:9–12)

My friend, today, if you have sinned, don’t say, “I have failed again. I deserve to be punished by God.” Know that you already have forgiveness of sins because Jesus was punished and condemned in your place! (Ephesians 1:7) So say, “I am the righteousness of God in Christ. Jesus, You are my holiness and perfection.” (1 Corinthians 1:30; 2 Corinthians 5:21)

We must be mindful of what we believe and say regularly because “death and life are in the power of the tongue”. So when you hear of a deadly virus taking many lives, don’t say, “I’m next because I have not been a good Christian!” Instead, say, “Jesus, You are my righteousness and protection. Surely You shall deliver me from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence!” (Psalm 91:3)

Beloved, such believing and confessing not only please God, but they also shut the door on Satan so that he cannot make any inroad into your life!

Thought For The Day :

Be mindful of what you believe and say regularly because death and life are in the power of the tongue.

THE FAITH TO FORGIVE :

Luke 17:5 “And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.”

It is very interesting to note that the apostles asked Jesus to increase their faith after He spoke of forgiveness. They observed all of the wonderful miracles Jesus performed and yet that never inspired them to ask for greater faith. Truly, walking in love and forgiveness with each other takes as much faith as any miracle we will ever believe for.

The basis of forgiveness is the love and mercy of God. It is only because God first loved and forgave us that we can love and forgive others. If we aren’t walking in the forgiveness of God, we won’t minister it to others. He forgave us before we repented or asked for forgiveness.

The scriptures admonish us to forgive as Christ has forgiven us. God offered His forgiveness towards us while we were yet sinners. Therefore, forgiveness was offered to all unconditionally. But only those who receive the offered forgiveness through repentance and faith are received as sons of God.

Likewise, we are to forgive others their trespasses, just as God has forgiven us our trespasses. We forgive whether or not the other person repents or wants our forgiveness. But we cannot restore such a person to complete relationship until there is repentance on his part. Failure to distinguish between forgiveness and restoration with their different conditions, has caused some people to make themselves vulnerable to unscrupulous people and suffer tragic results. In marriage, we should forgive our mate for anything, even adultery. But If there is no true repentance on our mate’s part, it would be foolish to trust him or her in a sexually tempting situation. We should forgive a business partner for stealing from us whether or not he repents, but that doesn’t mean we ought to put ourselves in a position to let him do it again. Complete restoration is dependent on repentance. Walk in forgiveness today

<strong>ALL WE NEED TO KNOW

For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells. —Romans 7:18

In a Fernando Ortega rendition of “Just As I Am,” Billy Graham’s voice can be heard faintly in the background. Dr. Graham is reminiscing about an illness during which he believed he was dying. As he mused on his past, he realized what a great sinner he was and how much he continues to need God’s daily forgiveness.

Billy Graham was putting an end to the notion that apart from God we’re okay. We can feel good about ourselves, but that confidence must come from the knowledge that we’re greatly loved children of God (John 3:16), not that we’re very good children (Rom. 7:18).

The first step in becoming a truly “good” person as a follower of Christ is to stop pretending that we’re good on our own and to ask God to make us as good as we can be. We will fail many times, but He will keep growing us and changing us. God is faithful and—in His time and in His way—He’ll do it.

In his final years, the writer of “Amazing Grace,” John Newton, suffered from dementia and lamented the loss of his memory. Yet he confided, “I do remember two things: I am a great sinner, and Jesus is a great Savior.” When it comes to faith, those are the only things anyone needs to know.

The Lord has promised good to me,
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures.

God’s grace accepted is God’s peace experienced.

LET YOUR LIFE BEGIN AGAIN :

Behold, now is the day of salvation. – 2 Corinthians 6:2

Did you know that Jesus has unlocked the prison doors of guilt that have kept you captive? It doesn’t matter who you are or what you’ve been. I don’t care if you’ve been a prostitute, a murderer, a thief, a drug dealer, or a churchgoer who’s never made Jesus Christ Lord of your life. The Bible says that today is the day of salvation.
A new life is only a prayer away.

Gloria and I discovered that for ourselves more than 25 years ago. Actually, it was Gloria who took the first step. She found out that the Bible said that not even a sparrow falls without God’s knowledge. “Well,” she thought, “if God knows and cares when the sparrows fall, He must know what terrible shape my life is in right now. And if He cares, maybe He can do something with it.”

Gloria didn’t know anything about the Bible. She didn’t even know for sure that God would let her start over. But when she told Him she wanted Him to take over her life, something supernatural happened on the inside of her. She was born again.
“But what about my past?” you may say. “I feel so guilty about it!”

When you’ve been born again and made a new creature in Christ–that past doesn’t belong to you anymore. And it would be ridiculous to walk around feeling guilty about someone else’s past, wouldn’t it?

What would you think if I took a little baby on my lap, a pretty little thing just a few months old, and said, “Oh, isn’t she precious? But just think about her past.”
You’d think I was crazy! “What past?” you’d say. “She doesn’t have any past!”
Well, it’s the same way with you once you’ve been born again. You don’t have any past. Your life begins again the day you make Jesus Lord of your life. Then, when Satan comes around trying to remind you of what a worm you were before, just tell him he’s knocking on the wrong door.

You’ve been kicked around long enough. There’s no need to wait any longer. The prison door is open. Walk through to Jesus and let your life begin again today.

BROKEN BUT BEAUTIFUL

[The vessel] was marred . . . ; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make. —Jeremiah 18:4

Recently, my daughter showed me her collection of sea glass. Also known as beach glass, the varied bits of colored glass are sometimes pieces of pottery but often they are pieces of shattered glass bottles. Originally the glass had a purpose, but then it was casually thrown away and became broken.

If the discarded glass ends up in an ocean, its journey is just beginning. As it is relentlessly tossed about by currents and tides, its jagged edges are ground down by the sand and waves and eventually are smoothed away and rounded off. The result is something beautiful. The jewel-like sea glass has found new life and is treasured by collectors and artists.

In a similar way, a broken life can be renewed when it is touched by God’s love and grace. In the Old Testament, we read that when the prophet Jeremiah watched a potter working, he noticed that if an object was marred the potter simply reshaped it (Jer. 18:1-6). God explained that in His hands the people of ancient Israel were like clay, which He would shape as He saw best.

We are never too badly broken for God to reshape. He loves us in spite of our imperfections and past mistakes, and He desires to make us beautiful.

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Thou art the Potter, I am the clay;
Mold me and make me after Thy will,
While I am waiting, yielded and still.

When melted by trial, we can be fully molded by the Potter.

PRAYER FOR THE DAY :

“Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)

Dear Lord God, I praise You. I honor You. I see Your face in every sunrise. Your smile breaks out the cloud with beautiful sunshine. You brighten up the world and light up my life. I give thanks to God for all things are new in me from today that my life is like the cherry-trees began to put forth their blossoms. May God renew my strength like an eagle outstretches its strong wings soaring in the sky!

Gratefully, in Jesus’ holy name. Amen !!!
