EVIL SPIRITS

AC

When Evil Spirits Try To Stop You

Jesus went to church and cast an unclean spirit out of a man. This event amazed those present. They said, “For with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits and they do obey him. And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee” (Mark 1:27-28). We all want to see the honor of our Lord spread. This scripture says deliverance ministry launched Christ’s fame immediately.

Jesus didn’t waste any time flowing in Holy Ghost power after the Spirit of the Lord came upon him. At the River Jordan Jesus was baptized by John. John was the last of the Old Testament prophets. I consider him a transitional prophet. Today’s prophets, five-fold ascension gift prophets, are of a different order, the order of Melchizedek (Ephesians 4:11). During this baptism of water the heavens were opened unto him and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him” (Matthew 3:16). This baptism is the start of Christ’s ministry. Christ means the anointed one. Jesus did not anoint himself. He was anointed by the Holy Ghost. This is when the anointing came on him.

HOLY GHOST MINISTRY ACTIVATION

The Holy Ghost coming on Jesus activated his ministry. It will put your ministry in motion too. In the church an unclean spirit spoke saying “let us alone” (Mark 1:23-28). “Unclean”, Greek akathartos, means morally corrupted, sexually perverted, debased, lustful, lewd in thought and life. Jesus rebuked it and cast it out. In other words he told it to shut up and come out of the man. This unclean spirit is also known as a pneuma spirit.

There are several demonic pneuma spirits mentioned in scripture including: Pneuma poneron, an evil spirit (Acts 19:15). Pneuma python, a python spirit or spirit of divination (Acts 16:16). Pneuma plana, a seducing spirit or spirit of error (1 Timothy 4:1). Pneuma astheneias, the spirit of infirmity (Luke 13:11). Pneuma alalon, a dumb spirit, one without speech (Mark 9:17). Pneuma akathartos, an unclean spirit (Mark 1:23).

Christ did not ignore this unclean spirit, he cast it out. Christ never taught his followers to ignore demonic spirits. He modeled the way for us regarding confrontations with demon powers and healing the sick. Scripture declares, “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested that he might destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8).

WAIT FOR THE PROMISE

When Holy Ghost anointing falls so do blessings, miracles, breakthroughs, demonic confrontations, healings and deliverance. Christ did not perform any miracles, heal any sick, raise any dead, or cast out any devils until the anointing of the Holy Ghost came on him. This is why He told his disciples after his resurrection to wait for the promise of the Father, the gift of the Holy Ghost (Acts 1:4). That gift would endue them with power, the same power that launched Christ into ministry, cast out devils, healed the sick, and performed mighty signs and miracles among the people. These waiting believers and later others were baptized with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues (Acts 2:1-8; 8:14-18; 10:45-46; 19:5-6). They were ready to cast out devils, heal the sick and testify of the resurrection of Christ.

Word got out that Jesus was anointed by the Holy Ghost. He was the Son of God with power. Multitudes followed him and were healed of sickness and delivered from demon powers. “For he had healed many; insomuch that they pressed upon him for to touch him, as many as had plagues. And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God” (Mark 3:10-11).

A HOUSE DIVIDED

A house divided cannot stand and demon spirits cannot cast out demon spirits. Another time Jesus cast a deaf spirit out of a person. Afterwards he was accused of casting out devils through Beelzebub the chief among devils. “And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake and the people wondered. But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils” (Luke 11:14-15). Instead of these religious rejoicing over the miracle of deliverance and healing they moved into false accusation against the King of kings. They were treading on dangerous turf, blaspheming the Holy Ghost. Blaspheming the Holy Ghost happens when people “continually practice” calling the wonderful works of the Holy Spirit the works of Satan.

Beelzebub was known as the chief of devils and lord of unclean spirits. This is like saying Jesus cast out devils by the power of Satan. Jesus responded by asking, “How can Satan cast out Satan? And if a kingdom be divided against itself that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house be divided against itself that house cannot stand. And if Satan rise up against himself and be divided he cannot stand but hath an end” (Mark 3:23-26). Notice how Jesus answered:

  • Satan cannot cast out Satan.
  • A kingdom divided against itself cannot stand.
  • A house divided against itself cannot stand.
  • If Satan attacks himself he is divided and cannot stand.

A “house divided” can also mean a family divided or a family of devils divided. “And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges” (Matthew 12:27). The answer is these religious accusers were not casting out demons or healing the sick therefore the fruit of their own ministries would judge them. The bottom line is that Satan cannot cast out Satan. An unclean spirit cannot cast out an unclean spirit. A wicked spirit cannot cast out a wicked spirit. An evil spirit cannot cast out an evil spirit. Nor can a spirit of sickness cast out a spirit of sickness. Scripture confirms, “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth” (Philippians 2:10).

EARLY CHURCH AND DELIVERANCE

The apostles of Christ and the early Church fathers cast out devils and healed the sick. They taught that all believers were given spiritual authority by Christ and equipped by the power of the Holy Ghost to cast out spirits and heal all manners of sickness:

  • They knew demons and evils spirits existed.
  • They understood that demons possessed, influenced, and made people sick.
  • They taught that Christ gave His disciples authority over all devils.
  • They knew devils had no choice but obey the name of Jesus.

Tertullian, (160-220 AD) was an early church father and defender of the Christian faith. In “Apology of Tertullian”[i] he responds to “treason against the gods” in a letter to Emperor Marcus Aurelius Antoninus and the Roman Senate. In his defense of Christianity he emphasized power over demons (and the gods of Rome) through the name of Christ.

  • How demonic spirits inflict diseases and stir up mischief.

“It will be sufficient to my purpose to explain their operations, or their ways of acting upon the sons of men. I say, then, that the ruin of mankind is their whole employment; these malicious spirits were bent upon mischief from the beginning, and fatally auspicious in their first attempt, in undoing man as soon as he was made; and in like manner they practice the same destructive methods upon all his posterity, by inflicting diseases upon their bodies, and throwing them into sad disasters, and stirring up sudden tempests and preternatural (abnormal) emotions in the soul; and they are fitted by nature for both these kinds of evil, the subtlety (difficult to detect) and fineness of their substance giving them an easy access to body and soul both. These spirits certainly have great abilities for mischief.”

  • Philosophy (school of thought or belief system) is not what demons respond but the name of Christ.

“Philosopher is a name the devils value not; they stand in no awe of a philosopher’s beard, nor will the hem of his pallium (garment) cure any diseases. But Christians did not only outlive them in virtue, but outdid them in power. For Christ was a name that made the very devils tremble; a thing which the philosophers with all their mighty wisdom were so far from pretending to, that they worshipped those very demons next to their gods. So that Christianity and philosophy differ just as much as heaven and earth, as a name that can do everything, and a mere empty title.”

  • All authority and power over devils is in the name of Christ.

“All the authority and power we have over them is from our naming the name of Christ and recalling to their memory the woes with which God threatens them at the hand of Christ their judge, and which they expect one day to overtake them. Fearing Christ in God and God in Christ, they become subject to the servants of God and Christ. So at one touch and breathing, overwhelmed by the thought and realization of those judgment fires, they leave at our command the bodies they have entered, unwilling and distressed, and before your very eyes, put to an open shame.”

Justin Martyr, (103-165AD) was a second century Christian writer. In his letter to the Roman Senate, “Second Apology”[ii], he wrote about healing the sick and having power over demon spirits.

  • Demon spirits sow murders, wars, adulteries, extreme behaviors, and all kinds of wickedness.

“God, when He had made the whole world, and subjected things earthly to man, and arranged the heavenly elements for the increase of fruits and rotation of the seasons, and appointed this divine law–for these things also He evidently made for man–committed the care of men and of all things under heaven to angels whom He appointed over them. But the angels transgressed this appointment. and were captivated by love of women, and begat children who are those that are called demons; and besides, they afterwards subdued the human race to themselves, partly by magical writings, and partly by fears and the punishments they occasioned, and partly by teaching them to offer sacrifices, and incense, and libations, of which things they stood in need after they were enslaved by lustful passions; and among men they sowed murders, wars, adulteries, intemperate deeds, and all wickedness.”

  • Deliverance was common with “many of our Christian men exorcising demons in the name of Jesus Christ.”

“Numberless demoniacs throughout the whole world and in your city, many of our Christian men, exorcising them in the name of Jesus Christ who was crucified under Pontius Pilate, have healed and do heal, rendering helpless, and driving the possessing demon out of the men though they could not be cured by all other exorcists and those who use incantations and drugs.”

Cyprian was Bishop of Carthage, modern Tunis wedged between Algeria and Libya in North Africa, and died September 14, 258 AD. Cyprian was introduced into magic and sorcery by his parents[iii] but later converted to Christianity.

  • He wrote that evil spirits “immediately obey us” and are cast out.

“Nevertheless these evil spirits adjured by the living God immediately obey us, submit to us, own our power, and are forced to come out of the bodies they possess.”

Deliverance ministry and healing the sick was common and practiced by the followers of Christ throughout the world in the first and second century. When Christ called his disciples he “gave them authority over unclean spirits to cast them out and to preach the gospel” (Matthew 10:1), to “bind the strong man” (Mark 3:27), and then to take his goods. The goods were captive people harassed and made sick by demonic powers.

Jesus taught when unclean, vexing, harassing, tormenting or demonizing spirits are cast out of people the Kingdom of God is manifesting. “But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you” (Luke 11:20). Deliverance is the children’s bread.

If we want what the early church had then we have to preach what the early church preached. You have been given spiritual authority to cast out demons and heal the sick in the mighty name of Jesus. Use your authority just as the early disciples and early church fathers.

PRAYER FOR HEALING AND DELIVERANCE

Heavenly Father, we lift up to your throne of grace and glory all those who have need of healing and deliverance.  We plead the blood of Jesus over their mind, body, soul, spirit, heart, emotions and every area of their life dear Lord.  May the resurrected, all protecting, all delivering, all sustaining, all supplying, all healing redeeming blood of Jesus Christ cover them.

In the power and authority of Jesus name, we bind and cast out every demon to the pit of hell, lock them up and take away the key that is trying to kill and destroy your children.  They are rendered “powerless” over them in power and authority of Jesus name and must leave and cannot “touch” them any longer!!

Heavenly we ask that you fill them with your Holy Spirit, evidenced by your gift of tongues, your prayer language and operating fully in your gifts of the Holy Spirit.  May they become “mighty” and “courageous” for your kingdom and speak out against all these lying spirits that have infiltrated your people.  May they become your divine light in the darkness that has manipulated and controlled your people.  Yes, Jesus, we ask that you set them “all” free indeed.  We ask that you break every chain that binds them. We ask that you remove the scales from their eyes and that they can see by faith in your holy spirit all the demonic lies that they have wrongly accepted and that they leave immediately, opening their hearts, minds and spirit to you alone.

Dear Lord, give them your wisdom, knowledge, insight and revelation to your divine holy truth in every matter.  Yes, dear Lord, may they be the first of thousands more to come in your fullness in Christ alone. In Jesus name we pray, amen and amen

HOLY GHOST

BC

9 Facts On Holy Ghost Outpouring

As they waited in the Upper Room in prayer something powerful happened that changed their lives forever, the gift of the Holy Ghost was poured out.

“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” (Acts 2:1-4)

SPEAKING IN OTHER TONGUES

Notice those gathered were “all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Speaking with other tongues is the sign that you were baptized in the Holy Ghost. The Apostle Paul taught much on speaking in other tongues.

    • Praying in other tongues is your spirit talking to God. Paul taught when you are speaking in other tongues you are not speaking unto men but unto God. This makes perfect sense because an “unknown tongue” is unknown and no one can understand what you are saying. “For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men but unto God: for no man understandeth him…” (1 Corinthians 14:2)
    • When praying in an unknown tongue you are, in the spirit, speaking mysteries. A mystery is something that baffles natural understanding and cannot be explained outside of faith. The mysteries of the Kingdom of heaven belong to the sons of God (Matthew 13:11). When you are praying in other tongues you are praying out the mysteries of God for your life. “Howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.” (1 Corinthians 14:2)
    • You are a spirit, have a soul and live in a body (1 Thessalonians 5:23). Praying in the spirit strengthens your spirit man. When praying in other tongues you edify (build up) your spirit (Jude 20). This means you are strengthening your spirit man when praying in an unknown tongue. “He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth (builds up) himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.” (1 Corinthians 14:4)
    • When you pray in an unknown tongue your spirit, not your mind, is praying unto God.
    • Praying in other tongues is the most effective way to pray because you do not know how to pray as you should. By praying in other tongues the Holy Spirit helps overcome this prayer weakness.
    • The baptism of the Holy Ghost is different than salvation. The Holy Ghost is a free gift from God. The baptism of the Holy Spirit cannot be bought, earned or deserved. He is a gift available to the born again believer.
    • The Holy Ghost empowers you to see visions, dream dreams and prophesy. The purpose of prophecy is to glorify Christ, and for edification, exhortation and comfort (1 Corinthians 14:3).
    • The Holy Ghost is promised to the repentant. Holy Ghost baptism is available after salvation. Peter offered instruction: repent, get water baptized, and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
    • Speaking in other tongues and prophecy is a sign of the baptism of the Holy Ghost. “For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.” (1 Corinthians 14:14). “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit (himself) maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” (Romans 8:26)

RECEIVING THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY GHOST

Just because you got saved doesn’t mean you received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Many were saved in Philip’s ministry that did not get baptized in the Holy Spirit until the apostles went to see how the meetings were going. Philip flowed in the power of the Holy Spirit when preaching in Samaria. Many were saved, healed, and delivered. There were even miracles, salvations and water baptisms but none were baptized in the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. Unfortunately we see this today but God showed us the better way when the apostles got involved in Philips ministry, “Then laid they their hands on them and they received the Holy Ghost.”

“But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done. Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.”(Acts 8:12-20)

We consider repentance from sin, faith in Christ the Lamb of God, and water baptism as evidence of the Christian faith and personal salvation leading to eternal life. These in Samaria were saved by faith in Christ but not yet baptized in the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues until the apostles laid hands on them, and then the Holy Ghost was given.

“But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy” (Acts 2:6-18).

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call” (Acts 2:38-39).

When Peter preached to the gentiles in Cornelius’ house they were all filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues and afterward were baptized in water.

“While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.” (Acts 10:44-48)

“And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.”(Acts 19:1-6)

The baptism of the Holy Ghost is available to you. Get filled today and let the Holy Ghost lead you and guide you in all truth. The manifestation of the Kingdom of God belongs to you.

OUR GOD

will fight for us

Invade, Occupy, and Influence: A Forward Shift

It’s time for a forward shift. We can no longer sit idly by watching our world sink into moral decay and overcome by false religions. The Church is called to lead change and reform in our nation and throughout the earth. The Kingdom of God is not a future event. The Kingdom of God is here and now.Kings are destined for total conquest. This world is desperate for good people like you to enter their kingship as an image bearer of Christ. Jesus loves this world and He has made provision for its restoration. You were born a winner. The whole world is waiting for you to exercise your believer’s authority to act like a son of God (Romans 8:19).Every member of the human race, whether he knows it or not, is a member of one of two kingdoms: the Kingdom of God or the kingdom of darkness. There is no middle or neutral ground. Scripture declares, “He that is not with me, is against me” (Matthew 12:12).

As kings (Jesus is King of kings and Ruler of rulers) we need to grab hold of our responsibility by invading this earth with God’s purpose.

We have a kingship mandate; establish the Kingdom of God, right here and right now. An understanding of biblical influence and the kingship of every believer is a must. Kings apply God’s Word to the land (Deuteronomy 16 & 17). Scripture uses the terms “salt” and “light” to teach us our responsibility to be proactive, “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt has lost his savor, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 5:13-16).

We provide salt and light around us through kingship influence and by invading our society, and the world with the Gospel of the Kingdom.

Jesus taught us that the greatest in the Kingdom of God was a servant (Luke 22:26). We can become great servants by getting involved with Kingdom business. We can build schools, hospitals, clinics, banks, media outlets; we can become politically active, involved with international relief efforts, enter the business world, and a myriad of other such things. Tommy Reid in his book “Kingdom Now but Not Yet” said, “The Bible must become more than a handbook of personal salvation. It must become a mandate for the reestablishment of Christ’s rule and reign over the earth and the rebellious portion of the universe over which Satan now asserts dominion.”

PUSH TO THE FRONT

We can no longer sit idly by watching our world sink into moral decay and overcome by false religions. The Church is called to lead change and reform in our nation and throughout the earth (Ephesians 3:10). The Kingdom of God is not a future event but is now. John the Baptist proclaimed the coming Kingdom and Jesus announced its arrival (Matthew 3:2, 4:17; Mark 1:15).

Like John Calvin who went to Geneva to “establish the Kingdom of God in a decadent society,” we too must involve ourselves with its establishment. Let’s be like John the Baptist and make ready a people for God (Luke 1:16-17) and like Isaiah who prophesied of the anointing’s purpose to “repair the waste cities that have been trodden down” (Isaiah 61:1-10).

You are in the Kingdom and the Kingdom is in you. When you exercise your delegated authority as a king all other kingdoms must submit. The Kingdom of God can be seen by a demonstration of His Kingship in your life. Jesus said go and tell John the things you both hear and see (Luke 7:18-22). Jesus announced the reestablishment of His Kingship rule and government on earth and that was only the beginning, now you’re involved.

Jesus came as the last Adam to regain all His creation, many sons, and the earth. Now, through His priesthood of kings, He is restoring all things back to Himself. What a profound statement. Jesus had a revolutionary ministry. He preached the Kingdom of God, gave His life for the atonement of sin, birthed His Church, and planted a small seed that would grow and grow called the Kingdom of God. What’s beautiful is that you and I, born again believers, can find our place and purpose in life. No longer are we wondering who we are or why we were born. We are a royal priesthood of kings being trained as representatives of His Kingdom government (1 Peter 2:9).

How exciting to know that you are being equipped to rule and reign with Christ on the earth, right here and right now. Throughout history God has been restoring truth to His Body, getting us ready to take dominion in His name. Just think about this, it took over 20 centuries to get us to a place where we could receive this truth about the kingship of Christ through His priesthood of kings. Jesus will return to the earth as the Lord (Ruler) Supreme for a glorious Church without spot nor wrinkle, not a defeated shadow lost in the umbers of defeat (Ephesians 5:27). You have been liberated and given talents to affect the world around you (Matthew 25:15). Determine in your heart to do something mighty with them.

CROSS AND KINGDOM

One day John the Baptist was in prison about to lose his life. He sent two disciples to Jesus asking Him, “Are you he that should come, or do we look for another?” Jesus answered saying, “Go and show John again those things which you do hear and see. The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the Gospel preached to them. And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me” (Matthew 11:3-6).

I was wrongly taught that John asked that question because he was having a bad day. He was in prison filled with discouragement. But Jesus taught us something important about John’s character. Jesus said that John was not like a reed that could be shaken in the wind. John wasn’t staggering in unbelief. John knew who Jesus was. He knew that Jesus was the Messiah, the King of Glory. He knew that Jesus was Immanuel, God with us. John sent these two disciples to ask Jesus why He wasn’t taking dominion. After all, the entire nation was waiting for the Messiah who would come and release the nation from the strongholds of Roman rule. Jesus preached about the Kingdom of God continually. Even the Pharisees came to Jesus demanding to know when the Kingdom of God would appear (Luke 17:20). In the days of Jesus’ ministry everyone was looking at Christ’s dominion and missed the cross of Calvary. Today, thousands of Gospel sermons are focused on the cross and miss the Kingdom. We need both. Yes, we need both. When Jesus returns will He find faith? Will He find His bride busy about the Father’s business? I believe He will.

POWER OF CONQUEST

Possessing God’s promises requires a fighting spirit. Don’t accept every thing that comes your way. Submit to God, engage all opposition to Christ’s Kingship through you: invade, occupy and influence. Then, after you have done all, stand rock solid in your faith refusing to break rank. Christ will not fail. You have been predestined for conquest.

We must stop acting like defeated second class citizens. This earth does not belong to Satan but to Jesus (Psalm 24:1). We are destined for a victorious occupation. Jesus’ prayer will be answered and we will see the establishment of the Kingdom of God on this earth (John 17:15-20). You are part of the army of the Lord and the army of the Lord is invincible. It’s time to beat your plow shares into swords. You are not cursed, but blessed. Jesus didn’t pray the Father to take His disciples out of the world but to protect them from the evil one. He said, “As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world” (John 17:18).

The apostolic is restoring the truth of a kingship people with a kingship agenda. We are not being equipped to escape this world but to change it. Scripture teaches us the power of conquest in the parable of the leaven.

“The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened” (Matthew 13:33).

Notice the leaven didn’t give up and quit, it was progressive in its work and destined to take over the entire meal. We, too, as a priesthood of kings, are destined for total conquest.

ACTION STEPS

What an exciting time to be alive. To make that forward shift into kingship start by acknowledging that Jesus has called you to be both salt and light in this world. Don’t put your kingship under a bushel. You are a king because Jesus has made you a king. Now let your light shine. You have a bright future. As you step out in faith, know that you cannot fail. The Father is well pleased to give unto you the Kingdom. You are in the Kingdom and the Kingdom is in you. Arise, king, and give Jesus something to rejoice about.

CONCLUSION – IT’S A NEW DAY

Kingship is your path to a rich life full of success and significance. As life battles against you on your journey to Zion, remember what Sir Winston Churchill Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during the Second World War said, “Kites rise highest against the wind.” You were born to win. You are a king and you were created for dominion (Genesis 1:28). Push to the front of your calling and bring glory to your father. Jesus made it clear, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also and greater works than these shall he do because I go unto my Father” (John 14:12).

THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM

AB

When Nothing Works Try The Spirit of Wisdom

The baptism of the Holy Ghost is important. Christ told his revolutionary followers after His resurrection “they should not depart from Jerusalem but wait for the promise of the Father…. For John truly baptized with water but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence” (Acts 1:4-5).

Jesus said He would build His church and the gates of hell would not prevail against it. That governing Church, His Church, would be filled with ruling and reigning disciples (a priesthood of kings) that would need Holy Ghost power to succeed.

BENEFITS OF THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY GHOST

When nothing works turn to the spirit of wisdom for help. There are many benefits to the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Some are well known, others a bit obscure. Some of the obvious include:

  • Power to witness
  • Power against unclean spirits
  • Spiritual revelation
  • Prophetic operations
  • The manifestation of the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit

We also know the Holy Ghost is our teacher, comforter, the one that leads and guides, helps us pray as we ought, and unlocks the mysteries of the Kingdom of God.

One benefit not discussed much is wisdom. Wisdom is the ability to apply and use the Word of God to accomplish God’s will in your life. It’s what you need when nothing else seems to work. Wisdom includes prudence, discretion, right decisions, soundness, stability and common sense.

The Apostle Peter wrote that you are part of a royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9). That is a priesthood of kings. You have heard many times that Jesus is the King of kings and Lord of lords. His lords are rulers. As part of the royal priesthood of kings you have a mandate to rule (govern) in righteousness through wisdom. Wisdom is gained through the application of the Word of God and the anointing of the Holy Ghost. Scripture reveals that the Holy Ghost is the spirit of wisdom. Jesus said he would ask the Father to send him, the spirit of wisdom, to you (John 14:16).

WISDOM AND STABILITY

Scripture also declares, “The LORD is exalted for he dwelleth on high: he hath filled Zion with judgment and righteousness. And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure” (Isaiah 33:5-6). Look at these words:

  • Judgment
  • Righteousness
  • Wisdom
  • Knowledge
  • Stability
  • Strength
  • Reverence for God

It is written that wisdom and knowledge “shall be the stability of thy times.” A quick glance at the nightly news confirms that our world is degenerating into lawlessness, chaos, corruption and debt. This is the result of secular humanism and rejection of the rule of God within our nations. When a nation, any nation, turns its back on God it opens the door to lawlessness and gradual decivilization. In order to turn this degeneration around requires “putting first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness” (Matthew 6:33). It also requires repentance, submission, prayer and turning from our wicked ways, then God will hear from heaven and heal our land (2 Chronicles 7:14).

This generation is going to need the wisdom of God. That wisdom is available for you and is made available to all the sons and daughters of God. Jesus said, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6).

WISDOM PROMISED BY CHRIST

As already said, Jesus told His disciples to “wait for the promise of the Father.” That promise is the gift of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost has a ministry. He is as much God as the Father is God and the Son is God. He is also apostolic in nature being a sent one. The apostolic nature includes building, restoring and governing. One Holy Ghost operation is equipping and empowering you to fulfill the purpose of Christ in your life.

It’s interesting to discover the baptism of the Holy Ghost includes the divine ability to receive spiritual wisdom that helps you advance the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God includes the culture of the Kingdom. Cultures have many things in common including a language, economic system, government, and arts and literature, etc. Spiritual wisdom also brings stability, sound judgment and the ability to make right decisions.

Jesus said the Holy Ghost would lead and guide you in truth (John 16:5-15). Scripture also declares, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding” (Proverbs 4:7). A certain measure of wisdom comes with the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Wisdom is the principal thing. That means wisdom needs first place in your life for success in life and ministry. Wisdom is foundational. Without wisdom you are unstable, make bad judgments and wrong decisions.

THE WISE HEARTED

Wisdom makes one wise having common sense in practical matters. Scripture says, “And thou shalt speak unto all that are wise hearted whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom that they may make Aaron’s garments to consecrate him that he may minister unto me in the priest’s office” (Exodus 28:3). Notice these wise men were all filled with the Holy Ghost. As filled ones they received the spirit of wisdom, the Holy Ghost. This proves that wisdom is not confined to schooling, education and experience alone, you need that too, but can be spiritually imparted by the Holy Ghost. Repeatedly, God uses the term “spirit of wisdom,” as one of our benefits of the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

WISDOM FOR THE WORK PLACE

Here is another example of a man named Bezaleel who was filled with the spirit of wisdom and ability to accomplish a trade. Do you need any wisdom where you work?

“See, I have called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah: And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, To devise cunning works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass”(Exodus 31:2-4).

There is no mention of Bezaleel going to a trade school. When God needed a man to devise cunning works in gold and silver he filled one with the ability to do so. It’s clear this man received wisdom, understanding, knowledge and ability for the work place. Peter taught that God was “no respecter of persons.” If God can fill Bezaleel with wisdom and ability he can fill you too.

The Apostle Paul prayed that Christ’s followers would receive the spirit of wisdom. You know now that the spirit of wisdom is the Holy Ghost. Paul wrote, “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him” (Ephesians 1:17). Revelation of Christ can only come from the Holy Ghost not through book knowledge. The Holy Ghost is the one that gives wisdom, understanding, rhema, and revelation.

JOSHUA FILLED WITH WISDOM

Joshua was filled with the spirit of wisdom “after” Moses laid his hands on him. “And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the LORD commanded Moses” (Deuteronomy 34:9). From this scripture we discover Holy Ghost impartation through the ministry of the laying on of hands.

We know that faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. This means that the benefits of our salvation come by faith and knowledge. In other words faith is the substance of things hoped for. You can’t have faith for something from God without knowledge. Said another way, we can’t have faith for without knowledge of. If you don’t know what belongs to you then you have nothing to put your faith on.

After reading these scriptures and examples we learn that a measure of wisdom is available to us with the baptism (infilling) of the Holy Ghost. Again, scripture confirms that the Holy Ghost is the Spirit of Wisdom.

“And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him (Christ), the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD” (Isaiah 11:2).

Jesus did not anoint himself. He was anointed by the Holy Ghost. Put your faith on receiving wisdom with the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Don’t lean on your own understanding but in all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path by the leading of the Holy Ghost, your spirit of wisdom.

STEPHEN FILLED WITH WISDOM

Stephen was full of faith and power flowing in great wonders and miracles among the people. He had been chosen as one of the deacons by the Apostles to wait on tables. Scripture says he was “full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom.”

“Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom whom we may appoint over this business” (Acts 6:3).

Stephen’s ministry was not confined to the inside of the church. He ministered on the streets and his detractors “were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spoke” (Acts 6:10).

WISDOM BETTER THAN GOLD

Other scriptures speak of wisdom:

“How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!” (Proverbs 16:16)

“He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.” (Proverbs 19:8)

“And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure.” (Isaiah 33:6)

Wisdom is available to those that ask. James said, “If any of you lack wisdom let him ask of God that giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not and it shall be given him” (James 1:5). The Holy Ghost is the spirit of wisdom. As your teacher he compares spiritual things with spiritual.

“But as it is written, eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God” (1 Corinthians 2:9-11).

Since wisdom is the principle thing and the Holy Ghost is the spirit of wisdom then one of the benefits of the baptism of the Holy Ghost is wisdom. Make sure you are filled today. When nothing else works put your faith on Jesus to baptize you with the Holy Ghost and fire. As Christians we have both the Word and the Spirit. It’s time for the divine ability to make right decisions. It’s time to walk in the spirit of wisdom.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

HG

The Apostolic Anointing of the Holy Ghost

The Holy Spirit has a ministry that impacts and changes nations. As a sent one He is the official representative sent from the commanding heights. Scripture declares that you are seated together with Christ in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6). Heaven is not just a place it is a position. That position is the realm of all governing authority. I call that place the commanding heights. From the commanding heights the Majestic King of Glory sends wisdom, revelation, and spiritual insight to his priesthood of kings and rulers.

Some have looked to the Holy Spirit only as a comforter. Yes, the Holy Spirit comforts but that’s not all He does. As a sent one He is apostolic in nature. The apostolic nature is found in building, restoring, and governing. These elements are active and found in the DNA of the anointing.

To become effective in life and ministry we need the apostolic anointing of the Holy Spirit. After the resurrection Jesus spent forty days speaking to His disciples of things pertaining to the Kingdom of God. We know this was central in His teaching because they asked this question, “Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?” (Acts 1:6)

This is where I think they missed it. Jesus had already said “The kingdom of God shall be taken from you and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof” (Matthew 21:43). It was not a physical nation that Christ was referring. He was teaching of the restoration of the Kingdom of God. The Apostle Peter said it like this, “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people that you should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Which in time past were not a people but are now the people of God…” (1 Peter 2:9-10). Notice he refers to the people of God as a “holy nation.”

No Ministry Without the Holy Ghost

Christ did not allow His disciples to go into all the world preaching the gospel of the Kingdom until they were baptized with the Holy Ghost. If Jesus thought it vital after His resurrection then I submit it is just as important today. The reason for this is clear. The Holy Ghost is the apostolic leader of Jesus’ Church. As part of the Trinity He is as much God as the Father and the Son. These three are one.

The Holy Ghost has a ministry. His ministry leads and guides you in truth. It’s easy to look to him as comforter but you must also look to him as teacher, revealer, and leader of the Church. God the father is in heaven. Jesus is seated at His right hand, but the Holy Ghost is with you.

Just like some of the early disciples we can make a mistake of thinking that Jesus was talking about restoring the Kingdom of God to Israel and miss it. In fact, some don’t even understand what the message of the Kingdom of God is all about. Ask them to explain the gospel of the Kingdom and some will start talking about the doctrine of the cross. Yes, the cross is important. Without the atoning blood of Jesus no one could see or enter the Kingdom of God. The doctrine of the cross, however, is not the gospel of the Kingdom. Again, there is only one Name under heaven and earth whereby man must be saved (Acts 4:12). That name is Jesus Christ, the only begotten son of God. There is no other way to the Father except by Him. Period.

Empowered to be Kingdom Ambassadors

So let’s expand our understanding a little bit and begin to look at the gospel of the Kingdom as something that brings greater understanding in our purpose as representatives and ambassadors of Christ. The gospel of the Kingdom of God deals with culture. For example, every kingdom has a culture, so too the Kingdom of God. It’s this culture that you must be able to explain before you can bring about lasting change in any nation.  One cultural element is language. The Kingdom of God has disciples that speak a noticeable language. When financial needs arise one can hear the language of the Kingdom. You might hear this, “My God shall provide all my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” If someone is sick you might hear, “By His stripes ye were healed.” Language is important. By it you can recognize a kingdom’s influence.

Nations and societies are changed through cultural influence. I travel much to Nicaragua, a Spanish speaking nation. Spanish is not the indigenous language of Nicaragua. So where did their language come from? Tracking their nation’s history we learn they were invaded by warriors from Spain. Those Spaniard conquers brought their culture, including their language. Today, hundreds of years later, their kingdom influence can still be heard in the language of the people of Nicaragua. Those invading warriors are now long dead but their influence remains.

The point is that Kingdom culture impacts and changes nations. To take the doctrine of the cross without the gospel of the Kingdom into all the world is not enough, we need both. This is why the Holy Spirit is speaking about the Kingdom of God.

Discerning Religious Spirits

CDThe Murdering Spirit of Religion

Religious spirits are the strongest opposing forces against Christ’ Church. We need not worry because the Holy Spirit used religious persecution to launch the greatest spiritual revolution of all time, the New Testament Church.

One of your greatest opponents against transition into apostolic ministry will be the religious spirit. Religious spirits fear loss of position, new things and being wrong. They will oppose all whom they feel threatens their sense of importance. We discover the beginning of apostolic ministry and the apostolic Church in Jerusalem after the resurrection of Jesus. Shortly after His resurrection the Church was persecuted by the religious spirit and scattered throughout the entire region. scripture says, “Now they which were scattered abroad because of the persecution that arose about Stephen traveled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the Word to none but unto the Jews only” (Acts 11:19).

Stephen was a disciple of Christ. He was man full of faith and power that did great signs, wonders and miracles among the people. Sometime during the course of his ministry he found himself being challenged by the leaders of a religious stronghold. The spirit of religion is always frightened by those who are anointed by the Holy Spirit because religious spirits sit in seats of governing authority that do not belong to them. To hold on to their usurped positions of authority they mounted up an offensive attack on a man that carried God’s true governing anointing.

As the testimony continues, “And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people. Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen. And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spoke” (Acts 6:8-10).

Notice these men formed a confederacy of religious leaders from at least three different synagogues that were unable to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which Stephen spoke. So they stirred up the people, elders, and scribes to join with their opposition against Stephen. Religious spirits have a dark ability to inflict fear and strife as they motivate others against the things of God. Religious opposition and persecution is often evidence of entering into an apostolic dimension of ministry. The old always seems to resist the new and the dead always fear the living.

APOSTOLIC AND RELIGIOUS OPPOSITION

Religious spirits are murdering spirits. As these men conspired together against Stephen, “They furnished men, which said, we have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God. And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council” (Acts 6:11-12).

Councils are religious courts that religious leaders use to defend their seats of authority and exercise territorial control over the people. Historically disciples of Christ regularly meet religious persecution or occult opposition as soon as they began to obey the Holy Spirit. That’s because the anointing activates spiritual authority that confronts anything that hinders the advancement of the Kingdom of God. Here, in typical slanderous fashion, the religious spirits set up false witnesses to build their case against Stephen, a man who was moving in the apostolic and doing a lot of good works among the people.

A key to remember is that Stephen stirred up trouble while ministering on the streets, not in any local church. Ministering outside the four walls of the local church and in the market place where the people are is one of the earmarks of apostolic ministry. Religious opposition and persecution is evidence of entering into an apostolic dimension of ministry. One time I took a team of believers with me to minister on the streets in a small town in Belgium. I will never forget the call one of our team members received by the town’s religious council asking by what authority were we preaching the Gospel in their village. I sent a message back to the caller, “We got permission from headquarters.” We never heard from them again.

The apostolic mantel of authority will expose a religious spirit every time. At Stephens’ meeting with these religious folks they, “Set up false witnesses, which said, this man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law: For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered to us. And all that sat in the council, looking steadfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel” (Acts 6:13-15).

THE DAY A GOOD MAN DIED

The anointing on Stephens life was visible to those in this meeting but it didn’t matter. They wanted to stop him at any cost. But Stephen was bold and didn’t back down. He preached a powerful anointed message in his defense proving from scripture that God does not dwell in houses made with human hands and concluding that these leaders were resisting the Holy Ghost and acting like religious leaders before them that persecuted and killed the prophets of old. They were cut to the heart, so much so, that they gnashed their teeth in furious anger. Imagine that, grown men and religious elders of the city unable to control their murderous emotions. Scripture says, “When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart and they gnashed on him with their teeth” (Acts 7:54).

While Stephen was being pummeled with stones from these murderous religious leaders he had an open vision and saw the glory of God with Jesus standing at God’s right hand. “But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing on the right hand of God. And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God” (Acts 7:55-56). Apostolic ministry has these kinds of prophetic operations. It’s of note that the Holy Spirit never abandons those who stand fast against ungodly religious opposition. Stephen, while drawing his last breath, and in a loud voice, asked the Lord not to lay this sin to their charge then he stepped victoriously from this world into glory.

Again, the religious spirit that Stephen faced was a murdering spirit. Scripture says they stoned Stephen “Calling upon God and saying Lord Jesus receive my spirit. And he kneeled down and cried with a loud voice, Lord lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this he fell asleep” (Acts 7:59-60). This was the day a good man died.

As it was in the genesis of the apostolic Church so shall it be during its restoration. The religious spirit will be the strongest opposing force against your transition into apostolic ministry. I wrote of this in my book “Spirit of Religion: The Unseen Thief”. Jesus spoke of religious spirits,

“Wherefore you be witnesses unto yourselves that you are the children of them which killed the prophets. Fill you up then the measure of your fathers. You serpents, you generation of vipers, how can you escape the damnation of hell? Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets and wise men, and scribes: and some of them you shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall you scourge in your synagogues and persecute them from city to city” (Matthew 23:31-34).

The religious church is a man-motivated, dead religious works oriented, carnal church that has a form of godliness void of the presence of the Holy Spirit. Little did Stephen know that God was going to use his death to launch a great apostolic revolution. After the vicious murder of Stephen the believers were “scattered abroad and went every where preaching the Word” (Acts 8:4). Religious persecution always results in the advancement of ministry. The Gospel of the Kingdom cannot be stopped.

In My name they will cast out demons

Matthew 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.

Mark 1:34 Then He healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He did not allow the demons to speak, because they knew Him.

Mark 6:13 And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them.

Mark 16:17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;

Luke 6:22 Blessed are you when men hate you, And when they exclude you, And revile you, and cast out your name as evil, For the Son of Man’s sake.

Luke 11:18 If Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? Because you say I cast out demons by Beelzebub.19 And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges. 20 But if I cast out demons with the finger of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.

Luke 13:32 And He said to them, “Go, tell that fox, ‘Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.’

2 Corinthians 7:1 Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons,

It’s a fact today in many churches that Christians who believe in casting out demons from people including Christians are cast out from Christian churches. It’s a fact that evangelicals want to know nothing about demons and somehow believe they have magically disappeared from the earth! it’s a fact that demons in Christian bodies are destroying the bodies through sickness ,spirit of infirmities and destructive unclean spirits.

But according to Jesus who commanded His disciples to Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give, casting out demons is a sign that the kingdom of God has come upon a person?

Acts 8:7 For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed.

Acts 19:12 so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them.

Some pastors  preach  that we should not bring attention to demons which is what demons want. They want to be unknown and operate behind the scene. The truth is we must be exposing and casting demons out.  How can you cast out demons when you don’t expose them first? You cannot!

IT’S A NEW DAY

DDINVADE, OCCUPY AND INFLUENCE

Kingship is your path to a rich life full of success and significance. As life battles against you on your journey to Zion, remember what Sir Winston Churchill Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during the Second World War said, “Kites rise highest against the wind.” You were born to win. You are a king and you were created for dominion (Genesis 1:28). Push to the front of your calling and bring glory to your father. Jesus made it clear, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also and greater works than these shall he do because I go unto my Father” (John 14:12).

Kings are destined for total conquest. This world is desperate for good people like you to enter their kingship as an image bearer of Christ. Jesus loves this world and He has made provision for its restoration. You were born a winner. The whole world is waiting for you to exercise your believer’s authority to act like a son of God (Romans 8:19).

Every member of the human race, whether he knows it or not, is a member of one of two kingdoms: the Kingdom of God or the kingdom of darkness.

The Outrageous Claims of Mars Hill Church “Investigators”
November 4, 2014
by Steven Lambert

In a statement on the website of Mars Hill Church in Seattle, the Board of Overseers, as they referred to themselves, stated: “On Tuesday, October 14, Pastor Mark Driscoll submitted his resignation as an elder and lead pastor of Mars Hill Church. The Board of Overseers has accepted that resignation and is moving forward with planning for pastoral transition….” The statement also stated that “for nearly two months…a group of elders investigated a series of formal charges brought against him (Driscoll)” and that the “investigation” conducted by “a group of seven elders plus one member of the Board of Overseers” consisted of “some 1,000 hours of research, interviewing more than 50 people and preparing 200 pages of information.” Their conclusion was:

“…that Pastor Mark has, at times, been guilty of arrogance, responding to conflict with a quick temper and harsh speech, and leading the staff and elders in a domineering manner. While we believe Mark needs to continue to address these areas in his life, we do not believe him to be disqualified from pastoral ministry.”

“Pastor Mark has never been charged with any immorality, illegality or heresy. Most of the charges involved attitudes and behaviors reflected by a domineering style of leadership.

… “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” (Pro. 16:18, KJV). Fact is: when people like Mark Driscoll set themselves up – and their entourages of sycophants and groupies and pom-pom-waving cheerleaders make their contribution to their sickening exaltation – as the stellar pastoral paragons others should emulate, as he did, they are only setting themselves up for an inevitable fall and for eventual destruction, unless they repent. When you play the childhood game of “King of the Mountain,” once you reach the top of the mountain, there’s nowhere left to go but down. Indeed, this is something a plethora of prideful purporting church leaders of the younger extant generations need to give heed to, especially in America, because eventually they are all going to experience a similar fall if they do not repent, and repent soon! That’s guaranteed! The Eddie Long, Bill Gothard, Doug Phillips, C.J. Maheny, John Piper, and Mark Driscoll stories and a host of others like them are all warnings from God that a day that has long been fast approaching is now finally here when God will assuredly make good on His promise that: “Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain” (Isa. 40:4). He will make good on His promise, as I along with many other prophetic voices have been long admonishing, when He will manifest a fulfillment of the profound prophetic warning contained in the last book of the Old Testament, scribed by the prophet Malachi:

“Behold, I am going to send My messenger, and he will clear the way before Me. And the Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple; and the messenger of the covenant, in whom you delight, behold, He is coming,” says the LORD of hosts. “But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap. “He will sit as a smelter and purifier of silver, and He will purify the sons of Levi (the O.T. counterpart of the N.T. Fivefold Ministry) and refine them like gold and silver, so that they may present to the LORD offerings in righteousness. “Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasing to the LORD as in the days of old and as in former years. “Then I will draw near to you for judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers and against the adulterers and against those who swear falsely, and against those who oppress the wage earner in his wages, the widow and the orphan, and those who turn aside the alien and do not fear Me,” says the LORD of hosts. (Mal. 3:1-5)

Indeed, what the entire Mars Hill Church constituency, including these subordinate leaders, need now is some effective deprogramming and deliverance to “Clean out the old leaven” from their hearts and minds. And that deprogramming and deliverance will have to come through expert and experienced sources who have a thorough understanding of the spiritual devastation dominating and controlling leaders wreak upon adherents – individuals, families, and whole congregations. These psychologically enslaved former captives will also need to learn correct spiritual Truth regarding legitimate and illegitimate authority and leadership in order to be genuinely delivered and set free from the psychological and spiritual damage the demons behind these false teachings and mechanisms of manipulation have wreaked in their lives. Only “deliverers” who were not subject to the subjugation of Driscoll and the demons with which he is demonized, and who are themselves free from the insidious hidden strongholds of Satan the master-Pharaoh can effectively and successfully accomplish this task. Those who are not themselves free in their soul and heart of all the chains and control of other men and devils can set others free. Captives cannot set captives free. Only free men can set captives free! You have to yourself be delivered to be a deliverer! Jesus came to set the captives free (Lk. 4:18), not to enslave people all over again under illegitimate, imaginary, and humanly-contrived bondages of tyrannical religious hegemony. “You were bought with a price; do not become slaves of men” (1 Cor. 7:23).

DEMONS

BEWhen Demon Spirits Harass You Should Do This

Scriptural signs and wonders confirm the resurrection of Christ. Signs and wonders go way beyond preaching a nice sermon on Sunday morning or praying over your meal. Signs and wonders include healing and deliverance. Christians are called to cast out devils. Sound scary? It shouldn’t. Are you ready to continue the deliverance ministry of Jesus? Let’s get started right now.

Today there are thousands of hurting people that need help. For some deliverance is key. Jesus said the harvest is plenteous but the laborers few. As a disciple of Christ your job is to learn from Him and follow His example. Jesus cast out devils. As a matter of fact after Christ was anointed by the Holy Spirit he went into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil for forty days and forty nights. In that spiritual wilderness Jesus used the Word of God against the onslaught of Satan. Jesus did not ignore the devil. Neither should you. Repeatedly Jesus answered Satan with the Word saying, “It is written.”

When Jesus came out of the wilderness He came out with power. Scripture says,

“And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.” (Luke 4:14)

Christ, anointed by the Holy Ghost, went into the wilderness and came out of the wilderness with power.

DELIVERANCE AND HEALING

Deliverance and healing are signs that point to the resurrection of Christ. He’s not dead he is risen! “And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all” (Acts 4:33). Notice that “great grace” was not confined to the apostles but was “upon them all.” A born again Christian has been given authority by Christ to cast out devils and heal the sick. You can use the name of Jesus against every evil spirit that afflicts the sick and oppressed. Scripture declares,

“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:9-11)

That’s good news for the vexed and sick. In our modern Church world, however, preaching the Gospel in some circles has become powerless with nothing more than a Dr. Phil type of pop-psychology or soulish entertainment over at Club Jesus. We are called to be Spirit-filled and Spirit-led ministers, not behavioral scientists. We have to ask ourselves, “If Christ be risen where is the proof?” After the resurrection of Christ the early believers “went forth and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them confirming the word with signs following” (Mark 16:20). What were the signs? They were changed lives, demons coming out of people, and physical healing.

New Testament churches were full of believers equipped and empowered to continue the deliverance and healing ministry of Christ. Churches were never built to create a self-serving humanistic cult of religious escapists and holy spectators.

True believers in Christ, Christians, walk in Holy Ghost power that gives proof of the resurrection. As already said this is way more than quoting a bible scripture, teaching a nice Sunday school class or sharing with a friend at the coffee shop. Jesus said, “He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do because I go unto my Father” (John 14:12).

The Apostle John wrote, “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested that he might destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8). Everything has a purpose. Purpose is the reason you exist. Purpose must be pursued. Success in life is the fulfillment of purpose. Your purpose, if you decide to accept it, is to model yourself after Christ. He was and is the model son. Emulate him and watch devils tremble.

MANIFEST SONS

The deliverance and healing ministry of Christ is not finished. Devils are still tormenting innocent people and thousands lay in hospital beds sick and without hope. Demonic spirits left unchallenged continue to steal, kill and destroy. The only hope for the sick and oppressed is the manifestation of the sons of God walking in the Spirit confirming the resurrection of Jesus with signs following.

As a son of God you have a great opportunity to show forth the praises of Him that has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. The entire world is groaning and travailing waiting for you to pick up the sword of the Spirit and put the enemies of God under your feet.

REVOLUTIONARIES OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

God’s revolutionaries are not afraid of devils. When Christ called his revolutionary disciples he gave them power against unclean spirits and to heal the sick. “And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power (delegated authority) against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease” (Matthew 10:1). Again we read of deliverance and healing in the same verse. It seems some want healing but ignore deliverance. To me it’s apparent that deliverance and healing work together. Receive deliverance, receive healing. Receive healing, receive deliverance. You can’t counsel out or drug out what you are called to cast out. Casting out demons is a clear sign of the Christian believer’s authority.

THE FIRST SIGN

The first sign following a mature Christian is casting out devils. When was the last time you saw someone receive deliverance? Scripture declares, “And these signs shall follow them that believe, in my name shall they cast out devils, and they shall speak with new tongues” (Mark 16:17). These “signs” are visible indications of discipleship that “follow” believers in Christ. Believers don’t follow signs, signs follow believers.

In our modern society we tend to forget that people can be troubled by demonic spirits. We also lose sight that some, not all, sickness and disease is caused by demonic spirits.

Matthew writes about deliverance and healing. He said people “possessed with devils” came to Jesus and He cast them out with His word and “healed all that were sick.” Notice again that deliverance and healing are linked together in this verse. “When the evening was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses” (Matthew 8:16-17).

POSSESSED OR DEMONIZED?

Unfortunately the word possessed is confusing. In our Western culture when we think of someone possessed we think they are out of control. That’s not what the biblical word possessed means in this scripture. A person can be possessed and remain in complete control of their faculties. It’s very common to see a person needing deliverance come to a church service for deliverance. If a person was under the total control of a demon that demon would never allow a person to attend an anointed church service nor come into contact with an anointed Christian. This answers the question, “Where were these possessed people during the day?” The answer is, “Probably at work.”

The English word “possessed” is from the Greek word daimonizomai. Daimonizomai is two Greek words daimon and izomai. Daimon is demon and izomai is influence. The clearest meaning therefore is one influenced or under the influence of a demon. So a person can be daimon-harassed, daimon-vexed, daimon-tormented or just plain old demon influenced.

It’s clear therefore that the word possessed means to be demon influenced or said another way demonized. This means that a person needing deliverance is harassed, vexed, tormented or influenced by demonic spirits and you have the authority to cast them out and bring healing in Jesus name.

OPPRESSED WITH THE DEVIL

Jesus did not anoint himself. He was anointed by the Holy Ghost. Christ said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he hath anointed me” (Luke 4:18). The he is the Holy Ghost. Jesus was, is, and will always be God but when he stood at the River Jordan the Holy Ghost came on him anointing him with Holy Ghost power. Scripture declares, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil for God was with him” (Acts 10:38). “Oppressed of the devil” means to be burdened, laden, suppressed, or persecuted. Jesus, anointed by the Holy Ghost, healed all those daimon-influenced. Again, scripture declares, “Himself took our infirmities and bare our sicknesses.”

HIS FIRST MIRACLE

The first miracle Jesus performed was to cast out an unclean spirit. Right after his wilderness confrontation with Satan Jesus went to church. While there a man possessed spoke with a loud voice saying “let us alone.”

“And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? Art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him. And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? What new doctrine is this? For with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him. And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee.” (Mark 1:23-28)

Notice how many times this spirit made it known that there was more than one spirit inside this man. The unclean spirit said, “Let us alone, what have we to do with you, and art you come to destroy us.” This is the voice of a strong man with several spirits accompanying it. Jesus, anointed by the Holy Ghost, responded by casting out the unclean spirit, “Jesus rebuked him” and out they all went.

THE FINGER OF GOD

The Holy Ghost said to me, “Only the sons of God walking in the Spirit can manifest the Kingdom.” All of us are called to manifest the Kingdom of God. One way is found in the healing and deliverance ministry. Jesus taught when unclean, vexing, harassing, tormenting or demonizing spirits are cast out of people then the Kingdom of God is in manifestation. “But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you” (Luke 11:20). Deliverance is the children’s bread, it belongs to us. Devils have no right to put sickness or disease on God’s people.

It’s puzzling to think that a Christian can have a devil but not so puzzling to think a Christian can be harassed by demon spirits or under the influence of demon spirits. It’s also puzzling to think that a Christian can be sick. After all, scripture declares, “By His stripes ye were healed” (1 Peter 2:24). So if you were healed then why are you sick? Could it have anything to do with a lack of knowledge or having faith to receive what already belongs to you?

Before a person can receive the benefits of salvation they need to know what belongs to them. This is confirmed in the scripture, “Faith cometh for by hearing and hearing by the Word of God” (Romans 10:17). Once you know what belongs to you then all you need to do is receive it. That goes as much for deliverance from unclean spirits as it does for physical healing. The Apostle Paul wrote that he prayed for believers to come to the place where they knew what belonged to them in Christ. Today we could call those the benefits of salvation. He wrote,

“That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church.” (Ephesians 1:17-22)

All enemies of Christ including demon spirits, sickness and disease belong under the feet of Christ. Scripture confirms, “For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet” (1 Corinthians 15:25). As a disciple of Christ you are charged with the continuing deliverance and healing ministry of Christ. Learn all you can. Study to show thyself approved a workman that need not be ashamed. Be a doer of the Word not just a hearer. When demon spirits harass use the anointed Word of God and command them to “come out in Jesus name!” Give testimony to the resurrection of Christ and let there be great grace on your life.

SPIRIT OF MURDER

A2Discerning Religious Spirits: The Murdering Spirit of Religion

The religious spirit is the strongest opposing force against Christ’ Church.

THE APOSTOLIC AND RELIGIOUS OPPOSITION

I wrote of this in my book 30 Pieces of Silver.

ANALYSIS APOSTOLIC MINISTRY

Apostolic Ministry, Benefits and Alignment

apostolic-benefits-ministryJesus wants to activate the apostolic in you because it releases dynamics and benefits that will enrich your life. He’s given you a team of teachers to accomplish His goal. We call those teachers five-fold ascension gifts.

We know that Jesus imparted five distinct gifts to equip His Church: some apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, pastors and teachers. Since the 1990s the Holy Spirit has been teaching us about the apostle’s ministry and the release of apostolic grace into the Church. Even though some are still debating the existence and inclusion of modern-day apostles, scripture is clear that He gave five gifts for “the perfecting of the saints for the work of ministry” (Ephesians 4).

APOSTOLIC-MINISTRY DYNAMICS

Jesus thought five graces, including apostles, were important to the success of His Church. Let’s look at how the apostolic grace releases apostolic dynamics and discover how apostolic alignment benefits the believer.

Apostolic grace releases apostolic dynamics. If we can recognize what apostolic grace does then we can position ourselves to benefit from it. Just as a pastor imparts pastoral grace and a prophet prophetic grace it stands to reason that an apostle would impart apostolic grace. Consider what happens when you throw a rock in a pond…the impact of the stone hitting the water creates a series of waves. This is what we call the ripple effect. Just like the ripple effect apostolic grace sets apostolic dynamics in motion throughout the Body of Christ.

IDENTIFY THE DOMINATE FIVE-FOLD MINISTRY GIFT

If you take the time to step back and look at the Church you can see a pattern of ministry. Our services have a structure. We open in prayer, sing some songs, make announcements, receive an offering, preach or teach the Word, have an altar call, and, finally, close with more prayer. The dominant grace of the main leader of that local church is set in motion during those services.

(HERE THE SERVICE STRUCTURE IS NOT ACCORDING TO 1 CORINTHIANS 14 WHICH INCLUDES NOT ONLY PARTICIPATION OF INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS BUT ALSO TONGUES, PROPHESY, AND THE OPERATION OF THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT?-
26 How is it then, brethren? Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification.
27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, let there be two or at the most three, each in turn, and let one interpret.
28 But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in church, and let him speak to himself and to God.
29 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge.
30 But if anything is revealed to another who sits by, let the first keep silent.
31 For you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be encouraged.
32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
33 For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.)

Every church has a dominant gift that leads and influences the direction of that church. If we are a pastoral church we focus on caring, counseling, and nurturing our members. And, of course, there is nothing wrong with that. If we have a five-fold teacher as the main leader then we would be well versed in the Word of God. If we have a five-fold prophet as our set-man we would be more open to prophetic words, deliverance ministry, stronger prayer, and spiritual warfare. But what if we have an apostle as our main leader? What would the dynamics in the church be then? What would the ripple effect of that grace release? Could it be possible that an apostolic five-fold gift would release something a bit different?

(WHERE IN THE BIBLE DOES IT SAY THAT EACH CHURCH HAS A DOMINANT GIFT THAT LEADS AND INFLUENCES THE DIRECTION OF THAT CHURCH? IT DOESN’T)

FIVE-FOLD MINISTRY GIFTS

These questions mark the importance of studying the various five-fold ascension gifts. How can you draw out what you don’t know exists? It’s extremely important to point out that the apostle’s gift, listed as first (1 Corinthians 12:28), is still only one of five specific ascension gifts. All five gifts are extremely important, and for the church to function fully it needs all five for the perfecting of the saints. Let’s take a look at some of the things that the apostolic might release.

Dominion, the apostolic has one direction to go: It seems that many are rapture-focused and far fewer dominion-focused. But no matter your view, whether it is pre-, mid- or post-tribulation, the result is that you are coming back to this earth. I believe if a person is born again then they are heaven ready, but you can be heaven ready and still not prepared to live in victory. The apostolic grace is not preparing a people to leave the earth but to invade, occupy and influence it for Christ. Jesus said, “Occupy until I come.”

(SO HOW CAN A CHRISTIAN BE HEAVEN READY AND A BELIEVER IF HE DENIES THE BAPTISM OF THE SPIRIT CONFIRMED WITH SIGNS AND WONDERS WHICH IS PART OF THE NEW COVENANT?

MARK 16: 15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;
18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
Christ Ascends to God’s Right Hand
19 So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.
20 And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.

IN REALITY THE PERSON IS A DISOBEDIENT REBEL NO DIFFERENT THAN KING SAUL WHO HAD A CHANGE OF HEART AND PROPHESIED WITH THE PROPHETS AND DID NOT FULLY OBEY GOD’S COMMANDMENTS AND AS A RESULT LOST NOT ONLY HIS KINGSHIP BUT HIS LIFE?)

APOSTOLIC EQUIPPING OF EVERY BELIEVER

Mobilizing into purpose: Apostolic grace is a mobilizing grace. The apostolic focuses on equipping every believer to do what they are called to do. You can’t mobilize what’s not prepared. Equipping is only one measure of the five-fold ascension gift function. Where a pastor might focus on identity and purpose, the apostolic takes it to the next level of “mobilizing into purpose.” It’s not enough to find purpose, one must seize purpose. It wasn’t enough for the Israelites to see Canaan Land, they were required to cross over and “possess the land.”

Equipping: Along with the other five-fold ascension gifts the apostolic identifies both spiritual and natural gifts in people and puts them where they need to be. The Church has done a good job of blessing people but the Holy Spirit wants to do more than bless people. He wants to equip them for Spirit-led living. Currently there is a shift from blessing-only focused ministry toward blessing and training people to do what they are called to do. The “one hour of power” model of ministry on Sunday mornings is being challenged. To do more than bless people will require a strong commitment from church leaders, the willingness to place a demand on people to grow, and, in some cases, a complete restructuring of the local church to leave what I call “stage ministry” and enter the apostolic dimension of equipping every believer for the work of the ministry, placing them on ministry teams, and sending them out of the local church with specific assignments.

APOSTOLIC LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Apostles don’t work alone. Jesus sent them out two by two. Leadership is one of the strongest apostolic dynamics being released into the Body of Christ. Because leadership models the way, the apostolic gift is creating a leadership development culture. We know that every thing rises and falls on leadership. We also know that most organizations, including our churches, are weak in leadership and we are desperate to add more. Apostolic grace is spotlighting that weakness, and since the apostolic is relationship based it is requiring us to spend more time on leadership development.

(WHERE DOES THE BIBLE SAY THAT LEADERSHIP MODELS THE WAY, THE APOSTOLIC GIFT IS CREATING A LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT CULTURE? IT DOESN’T)

Out of the sanctuary: The apostolic is preparing people to get out of the sanctuary and into the world. The local church is not just a place of worship it is also a place of blessing, equipping, prophetic instruction, and governing. Our world is under demonic siege. Every night news reports broadcast the working of secular humanists that undermine the Judeo-Christian fabric of our nation, Islamic (Muslim) extremists filled with an ideology of hate that kill innocent people, and homosexual pedophiles preying on innocent children through malicious use of the Internet. The apostolic grace, working in humble unity with the other five-fold ascension gifts, is preparing Christians to invade the world with salt and light rather than escape the world.

THE KINGLY PRIESTHOOD

Kingship of the believer: Not every believer is called to be a five-fold ascension gift, but every believer is part of the royal priesthood, both priests and kings. Many believers have a hard time thinking of themselves as kings. For some, suggesting that believers adopt a kingship mentality meets with resistance because it launches negative concepts of unwarranted superiority, abuse of authority, unearned respect, and even an uppity attitude. None of these images, however, convey the intended biblical concept of kingship. Apostolic grace is leading the Church into the delegated kingship of every believer under the guidance of the Holy Ghost.

ALIGNING TO THE APOSTOLIC

So what are the benefits of aligning ourselves to the apostolic and how do we do it? To align oneself means to come alongside of or to work together with. We are not talking about a blind submission to some controlling individual that printed “Apostle So and So” on a business card. It should be clear by now that the proof of apostolic ministry is found in function and not in title. We are talking about working together with the grace from one of the five-fold ministry gifts that Jesus set in the Church. Again, apostolic grace is only one of five gifts given to the Body of Christ. All the five-fold ministry gifts are equally important

(SO WHERE IN THE BIBLE DOES IT SAY WE ARE TO ALIGN OURSELVES TO THE APOSTOLIC? IT DOESN’T? SO IS JONAS CLARK ADDING THINGS TO THE WORD OF GOD?
Revelation 22:18 For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; )

Whenever these false apostles or pastors appoint themselves to whatever imagined leadership, they place themselves above God and cannot afford to tolerate any questions. Our God does not appoint dictators but “servants of all” (Mk. 9: 35).
