Arise, O LORD; Save me, O my God!

Stir Up Yourself

Arise, O LORD; Save me, O my God! For You have struck all my enemies on the cheekbone; You have broken the teeth of the ungodly. Salvation belongs to the LORD. Your blessing is upon Your people. Selah Psalm 3:7

Stir up Yourself, and awake to my vindication, To my cause, my God and my Lord.  Vindicate me, O LORD my God, according to Your righteousness; And let them not rejoice over me. Let them not say in their hearts, “Ah, so we would have it!” Let them not say, “We have swallowed him up.” Let them be ashamed and brought to mutual confusion Who rejoice at my hurt; Let them be clothed with shame and dishonor Who exalt themselves against me. Let them shout for joy and be glad, Who favor my righteous cause; And let them say continually, “Let the LORD be magnified, Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.” Psalm 35:23-27

There comes a time in life when we have to grab hold of the horns of the altar of God and ask Him  to stir up Himself and to arise for our help, and redeem us for His mercies’ sake (Psalm 44:26); just like the Psalmist did on many occasions when he was beset by his enemies. We are not to let Him go until He blesses and changes us and deal with our enemies; just like He did with Jacob who wrestled with God. The bible records for our profit and instruction:

Then Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day.  Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob’s hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him. And He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.” But he said, “I will not let You go unless You bless me!”  So He said to him, “What is your name?” He said, “Jacob.” And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.” Then Jacob asked, saying, “Tell me Your name, I pray.” And He said, “Why is it that you ask about My name?” And He blessed him there. And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: “For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.” Genesis 32:24-30

Then God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to Bethel and dwell there; and make an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you fled from the face of Esau your brother.” And Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, “Put away the foreign gods that are among you, purify yourselves, and change your garments. “Then let us arise and go up to Bethel; and I will make an altar there to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and has been with me in the way which I have gone.” So they gave Jacob all the foreign gods which were in their hands, and the earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the terebinth tree which was by Shechem.  And they journeyed, and the terror of God was upon the cities that were all around them, and they did not pursue the sons of Jacob. So Jacob came to Luz (that is, Bethel), which is in the land of Canaan, he and all the people who were with him. And he built an altar there and called the place El Bethel, because there God appeared to him when he fled from the face of his brother. Genesis 35:1-7

God is more than willing to bless His sons and daughters with all kinds of blessings, spiritual, physical, material and ministerial and with Himself; but they must stir themselves up to seek and go  to God and not let Him go until He blesses them.  The bible encourages us to stir ourselves up and seek God and be greatly rewarded by Him:

The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing. Psalm 34:10

For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold From those who walk uprightly. Psalm 84:11

Therefore he said to Judah, “Let us build these cities and make walls around them, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us, because we have sought the LORD our God; we have sought Him, and He has given us rest on every side.” So they built and prospered.2 Chronicles 14:7

Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:6-7

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6

Yes there is a rest and prosperity for the people of God who will seek the Lord their God and take by force all that He has for them in His word. God has pleasure in the prosperity of His servants and wants to bless them greatly. He wants to take care of all their needs, fight all their battles, and give them victories over all their enemies whoever or whatever they might be. He wants them to serve Him so that He could bless their bread and their water. And He will take sickness from their midst and fulfill the number of their days. His word is unchanging:

“Behold, I send an Angel before you to keep you in the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared.  “Beware of Him and obey His voice; do not provoke Him, for He will not pardon your transgressions; for My name is in Him.  “But if you indeed obey His voice and do all that I speak, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries.  “For My Angel will go before you and bring you in to the Amorites and the Hittites and the Perizzites and the Canaanites and the Hivites and the Jebusites; and I will cut them off.  “You shall not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do according to their works; but you shall utterly overthrow them and completely break down their sacred pillars.  “So you shall serve the LORD your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you. “No one shall suffer miscarriage or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days.  “I will send My fear before you, I will cause confusion among all the people to whom you come, and will make all your enemies turn their backs to you. Exodus 23:20-27

God by giving the fullness of His blessing to His reconciled enemies proves His perfect and unlimited love for us and we can respond by trusting Him at all times. Yes, Jesus is our redeeming God, “The Lord our righteousness,” and that those who accept Him as Lord and Savior can know forgiveness of sins and peace with God and be healed and made perfect, whole and complete. And our Redeeming Lord will baptize us in the Holy Spirit and gives the gifts of the Spirit so that we can see others become redeemed believers made complete in Christ who is all that they need for body, soul and spirit for Christ is unlimited in power and richest.

The doctrine of Christ’s unlimited ability has a very practical application to us in our daily lives. Jesus is omnipotent; He can save, deliver and keep us. Jesus is our omniscient and all-wise Lord, He knows all about us, and can guide us in all our problems. Jesus is omnipresent; He is with us in every situation. Christ is the Great I Am; He knows and is in control of our future. Jesus is the Lord of unlimited love, He really cares for us. What a comfort these Divine attributes of Jesus give to those who love and serve Him. God’s word is unchanging:

For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: “Behold, My servants shall eat, But you shall be hungry; Behold, My servants shall drink, But you shall be thirsty; Behold, My servants shall rejoice, But you shall be ashamed; Behold, My servants shall sing for joy of heart, But you shall cry for sorrow of heart, And wail for grief of spirit.  You shall leave your name as a curse to My chosen; For the Lord GOD will slay you, And call His servants by another name; So that he who blesses himself in the earth  Shall bless himself in the God of truth;  And he who swears in the earth Shall swear by the God of truth;  Because the former troubles are forgotten, And because they are hidden from My eyes. Isaiah 65:13-16

Yes, in times when a great tempest comes against God’s trusting ones, it’s wonderful to know that a vessel with Jesus in it cannot sink for even the winds and the sea obey Him as well as everything else, including demons.  Jesus will bring them safely to the other side of plenty and prosperity and victory.  But this is something that some of God’s people do not seem to understand that no matter what is going on the miracle working God of all power and unlimited riches and resources is on their side. He is for them and with them and not against them and wants to see them get safely through to the other side.  His trusting ones must not be fearful but are to faithful to stand against all the wiles of the enemy who seeks to destroy them by any means.  For the enemy walks about like a roaring lions seeking whom he may devour by any means.

God has not and doesn’t change one single bit. He is the same yesterday, today and forever!   He is the living God, steadfast forever and a great miracle working God as well as the Judge of all the earth and a man of war.  His kingdom is the one which shall not be destroyed, and His dominion shall endure to the end. He still delivers and rescues, and He works signs and wonders in heaven and on earth. Signs and wonders which bless some and destroy other.  There are no sickness, famine, pestilence, poverty, suffering and lack in heaven and should not be on earth.  The LORD who IS A GREAT MAN OF WAR AND UNCHANGING will bring His trusting ones into abundance of prosperity and give them every victory. His word is unchanging:

“When you go out to battle against your enemies, and see horses and chariots and people more numerous than you, do not be afraid of them; for the LORD your God is with you, who brought you up from the land of Egypt.  “So it shall be, when you are on the verge of battle, that the priest shall approach and speak to the people. “And he shall say to them, ‘Hear, O Israel: Today you are on the verge of battle with your enemies. Do not let your heart faint, do not be afraid, and do not tremble or be terrified because of them;  ‘for the LORD your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you’ (to give you victory, KJV). Deuteronomy 20:1-4

The LORD shall go forth like a mighty man; He shall stir up His zeal like a man of war. He shall cry out, yes, shout aloud; He shall prevail against His enemies.  “I have held My peace a long time, I have been still and restrained Myself. Now I will cry like a woman in labor, I will pant and gasp at once. I will lay waste the mountains and hills, And dry up all their vegetation; I will make the rivers coastlands, And I will dry up the pools. I will bring the blind by a way they did not know; I will lead them in paths they have not known. I will make darkness light before them, And crooked places straight. These things I will do for them, And not forsake them. Isaiah 42:13-16

“For behold, the day is coming, Burning like an oven, And all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble. And the day which is coming shall burn them up,” Says the LORD of hosts, “That will leave them neither root nor branch. But to you who fear My name  The Sun of Righteousness shall arise With healing in His wings; And you shall go out And grow fat like stall-fed calves. You shall trample the wicked, For they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet On the day that I do this,” Says the LORD of hosts. Malachi 4:1-3

My Jesus is a Man of War
(Exodus 15:3, . Revelation 19:11, Author Unknown)

Some think of Jesus calm and shy
And quite as a mouse.
But I see Jesus as my Lord
And guard of all my house.

Some say He’s tender, meek and mild
And doesn’t raise His voice.
But I can see Him charge through Hell
To give to man his choice.

Some say His hands are always clean
He won’t let His feelings show.
But I can see Him roll His sleeves
And fight off every foe.

My Jesus walks  through Hell itself
To set the captives free.
My Jesus upturned the table tops
To gain His victory.

He bore my sins upon a cross
My sorrows in His hand.
My whipping for unrighteousness
My pain He did withstand.

He took my stripes to make me well
My crown of thorns He wore.
And all my fears He crucified
And all my shame He bore.

My Jesus is a Man of men,
A Warrior brave and bold.
My King of Kings and Lord of Lords
Yes, He all Victory gives and holds.

ARISE

in all that you doArise For Our Help, And Redeem Us

Redeem Israel, O God, Out of all their troubles! Psalm 25:22

Awake! Why do You sleep, O Lord?  Arise! Do not cast us off forever.  Why do You hide Your face,  And forget our affliction and our oppression?  For our soul is bowed down to the dust;  Our body clings to the ground.  Arise for our help,  And redeem us for Your mercies’ sake. Psalm 44:23-26

God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.  Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah  There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God,  The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High. God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn. Psalm 46:1-5

Believers can praise, bless  and trust a wonderful God who forgives all their  iniquities, Who heals all their diseases, Who redeems their life from destruction, Who crowns them  with lovingkindness and tender mercies,  Who satisfies their mouth with good things,  so that their youth is renewed like the eagle’s and who executes righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed (Psalm 103:1-5). Their Rock is their Redeemer Jesus Christ who is full of compassion who has by His own blood redeemed them from the hand of the enemy and stands ready to do so from every other enemy! His word is unchanging:

“But you, Israel, are My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, The descendants of Abraham My friend. You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth,  And called from its farthest regions, And said to you, ‘You are My servant, I have chosen you and have not cast you away:  Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.'”Behold, all those who were incensed against you Shall be ashamed and disgraced; They shall be as nothing, And those who strive with you shall perish. You shall seek them and not find them-Those who contended with you. Those who war against you  Shall be as nothing, As a nonexistent thing. For I, the LORD your God, will hold your right hand, Saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’ Isaiah 41:8-13

But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel:  “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name;  You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the LORD your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I gave Egypt for your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in your place.  Since you were precious in My sight, You have been honored, And I have loved you; Therefore I will give men for you, And people for your life. Isaiah 43:1-4

Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel: “I am the LORD your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you by the way you should go. Isaiah 48:17

God is more than capable of dealing with His enemies and those of His people. But woe to them who have become His adversaries for the Lord will take vengeance on His enemies. As God does not lie and He has promised to do so and so be it!

Men, even religious ones,  do not understand that there is a consequence and price to be paid when they become  rebellious, enjoy the companions of thieves; loves bribes, follows after rewards, do not defend the fatherless  nor take up the cause of the widow. Such men will not know the blessings of God but rather His curses and His right hand moving against them.  As one of the chief cornerstone of God’s character  and foundation of His Kingdom is His love for righteousness and justice. His word is true:

The humble He guides in justice, And the humble He teaches His way. Psalm 25:9

He loves righteousness and justice; The earth is full of the goodness of the LORD. Psalm 33:5

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; Mercy and truth go before Your face. Psalm 89:14

It is a fact that God guides the humble in justice and He teaches him His ways including:

“For thus says the LORD of hosts:  ‘Just as I determined to punish you  When your fathers provoked Me to wrath,’  Says the LORD of hosts,  ‘And I would not relent,  So again in these days  I am determined to do good  To Jerusalem and to the house of Judah.

Do not fear. These are the things you shall do:  Speak each man the truth to his neighbor;  Give judgment in your gates for truth, justice, and peace;   Let none of you think evil in your heart against your neighbor;  And do not love a false oath.  For all these are things that I hate,’  Says the LORD.” Zechariah 8:14-17

God’s love for justice is so great that He did not stop to obtain it when Adam and Eve were deceived by the devil and had their freedom and lives stolen from them. Even though it meant the price of God’s only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, God saw that justice was done and Adam and Eve and their seed  were redeemed. Redeemed  by the new Adam Jesus Christ who was born of the Spirit and not of the flesh. . .

Now it is a fact that God demands that His people love and seek true justice and righteousness just as He does. His word is true:

You shall not pervert justice due the stranger or the fatherless, nor take a widow’s garment as a pledge.  “But you shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt, and the LORD your God redeemed you from there; therefore I command you to do this thing. “When you reap your harvest in your field, and forget a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to get it; it shall be for the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands. Deuteronomy 24:17-19

Gather yourselves together, yes, gather together,  O undesirable nation, Before the decree is issued,  Or the day passes like chaff,  Before the LORD’S fierce anger comes upon you,  Before the day of the LORD’S anger comes upon you!   Seek the LORD, all you meek of the earth,  Who have upheld His justice.  Seek righteousness, seek humility.  It may be that you will be hidden  In the day of the LORD’S anger. Zephaniah 2:1-3

God commands and demands that His people execute true justice, and show mercy and compassion  everyone to his brother;  that they do not oppress the widow or the fatherless,  the alien or the poor; that  none of them plan evil in his heart  against his brother. His word is true:

“Thus says the LORD of hosts:  ‘Execute true justice,  Show mercy and compassion  Everyone to his brother.  Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless,  The alien or the poor.  Let none of you plan evil in his heart  Against his brother.’

“But they refused to heed, shrugged their shoulders, and stopped their ears so that they could not hear. “Yes, they made their hearts like flint, refusing to hear the law and the words which the LORD of hosts had sent by His Spirit through the former prophets. Thus great wrath came from the LORD of hosts.

“Therefore it happened, that just as He proclaimed and they would not hear, so they called out and I would not listen,” says the LORD of hosts.  “But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations which they had not known. Thus the land became desolate after them, so that no one passed through or returned; for they made the pleasant land desolate.”  Zechariah 7:9-14

Yet many, even this day, refuse to heed the word of the Lord. They shrug their shoulders, and stop  their ears so that they could not hear. They refuse to hear the Word of God sent by His Spirit through His prophets for after all they are God’s children and ‘once saved, always saved?” Not anticipating that as a result of their real foolish choices and ways a great wrath would come upon from the LORD of hosts.  But God’s true prophets appreciate and understand God’s love for justice and even though it involves judgment on God’s own people and their rulers who refuse to know and do justice. While the false prophets prophesy peace and lies God’s true prophets tell the truth. God’s word records:

And I said:  “Hear now, O heads of Jacob,  And you rulers of the house of Israel:  Is it not for you to know justice?  You who hate good and love evil;  Who strip the skin from My people, And the flesh from their bones;  Who also eat the flesh of My people,  Flay their skin from them,  Break their bones,  And chop them in pieces  Like meat for the pot,  Like flesh in the caldron.” Then they will cry to the LORD,  But He will not hear them;  He will even hide His face from them at that time,  Because they have been evil in their deeds.  Thus says the LORD concerning the prophets  Who make my people stray;  Who chant “Peace”  While they chew with their teeth,  But who prepare war against him  Who puts nothing into their mouths:  “Therefore you shall have night without vision,  And you shall have darkness without divination;  The sun shall go down on the prophets,  And the day shall be dark for them.  So the seers shall be ashamed,  And the diviners abashed;  Indeed they shall all cover their lips;  For there is no answer from God.”  But truly I am full of power by the Spirit of the LORD,  And of justice and might,  To declare to Jacob his transgression  And to Israel his sin.  Now hear this,  You heads of the house of Jacob  And rulers of the house of Israel,  Who abhor justice  And pervert all equity, 0 Who build up Zion with bloodshed  And Jerusalem with iniquity: 1 Her heads judge for a bribe,  Her priests teach for pay, And her prophets divine for money.  Yet they lean on the LORD, and say,  “Is not the LORD among us?  No harm can come upon us.”  Therefore because of you  Zion shall be plowed like a field,  Jerusalem shall become heaps of ruins,  And the mountain of the temple  Like the bare hills of the forest. Micah 3:1-12

Although many religious ones who call themselves Christians do not want to talk about it, a sign that a person is full of power by the Spirit of the LORD, and of justice and might, is His or her ability to declare to God’s people their  transgression and the church of Jesus Christ their sin.  However!  Religious rulers of our day, in general, abhor justice and pervert all equity.   They live off the offerings and tithes stolen from the sheep. They show partiality to others, and are constantly talking about money, as though God is broke. They say they belong to the Lord and that He will protect them. But they fail to appreciate that God doesn’t protect rapists, murderers and thieves in His house He judges and deals with them and casts them out. For no apostle, prophet, teacher, preacher, administrator, or foolish sheep will escape God’s judgment if he or she deserves it. They are God’s people and He can deal with them and spank them for their evil words and thoughts and ignoring His love of righteousness and justice. What God has done once before He can and will do it again? His word is true:

Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said:  “So I swore in My wrath,  ‘They shall not enter My rest,’ ”  although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”; and again in this place: “They shall not enter My rest.”  Since therefore it remains that some must enter it, and those to whom it was first preached did not enter because of disobedience,  again He designates a certain day, saying in David, “Today,” after such a long time, as it has been said:   “Today, if you will hear His voice,  Do not harden your hearts.” For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day.   There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.  Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience.

For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.  And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. Hebrews 4:1-13

ONLY BELIEVE :

“But when Jesus heard it, He answered him, saying, “ ‘Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be made well’ ” (Luke 8:50, NKJV)

In Scripture a man came to Jesus and said, “My little daughter is very sick. She is close to death. Will You come to my home and pray for her?” Jesus agreed. But along the way He kept getting stopped, one interruption after another. Finally, word came back to Him saying, “No need to come. You’ve waited too late. The little girl has died.”

The people were upset and very distraught. But Jesus said to them in Luke 8:50 “Don’t be afraid. If you will only believe, the little girl will be well.” Notice the phrase, “Only believe.” Jesus went to the home, laid hands on the little girl, and she came back to life.

Are you facing a situation that seems impossible? In the natural, you don’t see how you can get well, or how you can overcome the addiction, or how your family can ever be restored? God is saying to you what He said to them, “If you will only believe, I will turn the situation around. If you only believe, breakthroughs are headed your way!”

YES THE JOY OF THE LORD IS YOUR STRENGTH

2 Chronicles 20:27 Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, with Jehoshaphat in front of them, to go back to Jerusalem with joy, for the LORD had made them rejoice over their enemies.

2 Chronicles 30:26 So there was great joy in Jerusalem, for since the time of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel, there had been nothing like this in Jerusalem.

Nehemiah 8:10 Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”

Esther 8:16 The Jews had light and gladness, joy and honor. 17 And in every province and city, wherever the king’s command and decree came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a holiday. Then many of the people of the land became Jews, because fear of the Jews fell upon them.

Psalms 5:11 But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; Let those also who love Your name Be joyful in You.

Psalms 16:11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Psalms 30:5 For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.

Psalms 35
9 And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD; It shall rejoice in His salvation.

27 Let them shout for joy and be glad, Who favor my righteous cause; And let them say continually, ” Let the LORD be magnified, Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.”

Psalms 105:43 He brought out His people with joy, His chosen ones with gladness.

Psalms 126:5 Those who sow in tears Shall reap in joy.

Acts 2:1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

11 Cretans and Arabs — we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.”

WHAT CAN MATCH THE FIRE OF GOD FALLING FROM ABOVE?

NOTHING!

AND BLIND DECEIVED ONES CANNOT OFFER THE FIRE FROM ABOVE NOR THE JOY OF THE LORD NOR MIRACLES

Luke 1:49 For He who is mighty has done great things for me, And holy is His name.

Luke 8:39 “Return to your own house, and tell what great things God has done for you.” And he went his way and proclaimed throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him.

JESUS AND THE DISCIPLES PREACHED ON THE IMPORTANCE OF REPENTANCE! SO WHY ARE TODAY’S FALSE PREACHERS SILENT ABOUT IT?

Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

Matthew 11:20 Then He began to rebuke the cities in which most of His mighty works had been done, because they did not repent: 21 “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

Mark 6:12 So they went out and preached that people should repent.

Luke 13:1 There were present at that season some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
2 And Jesus answered and said to them, “Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things?
3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.
4 Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem?
5 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.”

Luke 17:3 Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 3:19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,

Acts 8:22 Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you.

Acts 17:30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,

DON’T JUST SIT THERE…ARISE!

Now four men who were lepers were at the entrance of the city’s gate; and they said to one another, Why do we sit here until we die…. So they arose. – 2 Kings 7:3,5

No matter how bad the problem is you may be facing today, no matter how far under the circumstances you may be, in 24 hours you can be back on top!

“Oh, Brother, that would be impossible!”

That’s what the Samaritans thought in 2 Kings 7. Their land was being ravaged by famine. Enemy troops had surrounded them and cut off all source of supply. Mothers were eating their own children just to survive.

But right in the middle of that, the Lord told the prophet Elisha that in 24 hours the whole situation would change. Flour and barley would sell for just a few pennies and there would be abundance for all.

What did God use to turn that situation around?

Four lepers! Four lepers who, instead of sitting around feeling sorry for themselves and waiting to die, decided to arise and take their chances in the enemy camp. When they got there, they found it abandoned. All the warriors had been frightened away by the angels of God, and they’d left enough food behind to feed all of Samaria!

Sometimes you and I are like the officials in that story. We get problem-centered instead of Word of God centered. We let ourselves be so surrounded with the loud voice of the world that the vision of our victory is pushed out of sight.

When that happens, faith and power begin to subside and life caves in on us from every side.

If that’s happened to you, stop crying about it. Stop looking at your problem and feeling sorry for yourself. That won’t change anything!
Just like He did for Elisha, God’s given you a word. He’s promised you victory. He’s promised to make you an overcomer.

So don’t just sit there till you die. Don’t accept defeat. Rise up in faith. Stand up on God’s Word and fight for your life. Get mad at Satan. Cast him out. Get mad at that sickness. Get angry with poverty and start giving.

Rise up and receive the deliverance of the Lord!

Arise, And Go!

castle

And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the LORD God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word.”  Then the word of the LORD came to him, saying,  “Get away from here and turn eastward, and hide by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. “And it will be that you shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.” So he went and did according to the word of the LORD, for he went and stayed by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan.  The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook.  And it happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.  Then the word of the LORD came to him, saying, “Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.” 1 Kings 17:1-9

The bible tells us that there lived a widow in Zarephath, a town in Sidon. And when God’s provision for Elijah had ceased, and there was severe drought over the Land,  the Lord sent Elijah to Zarepath where He commanded that a widow would provide for him.  So when Prophet Elijah entered the gate of the city where he met the widow. She was gathering sticks to make fire. Elijah called her and asked her for water and food. She told him that she had only a handful of flour and little oil in the jar and was gathering sticks to make something to eat for her son and for herself and that she may die after eating it. Elijah encouraged the widow not to worry and asked her to make first a cake and bring it to him and then they can have for themselves. He told her that the Lord has promised her that the flour in the bin will never get used up and oil in the jar will never run dry. So she did according to what Elijah told her and was greatly blessed.  But if Elijah had a better idea, and didn’t trust the LORD and do exactly what He was told to do, would he had been blessed by God? No! God’s word is unchanging:

Then Samuel said: “Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the LORD?  Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,  And to heed than the fat of rams.

For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.

Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, He also has rejected you from being king.” 1 Samuel 15:22-23

Those who reject the word of the LORD for their lives will find themselves rejected just like Saul was rejected from being king. Saul for the love of prominence, riches and fame rejected the word of the Lord and was rejected by the Lord from being king. His end was worse than His beginning as the Lord turned His face from Saul. God replaced him with a better man with a man after His own heart who would listen to His voice and obey His commands.

But being in God’s will doesn’t mean that we will not be without problems and challenges from the enemy! The bible tells us that this widow who owned the house her only son became sick and died. She came and poured out her problems to Elijah. The bible records:

So she said to Elijah, “What have I to do with you, O man of God? Have you come to me to bring my sin to remembrance, and to kill my son?” And he said to her, “Give me your son.” So he took him out of her arms and carried him to the upper room where he was staying, and laid him on his own bed.  Then he cried out to the LORD and said, “O LORD my God, have You also brought tragedy on the widow with whom I lodge, by killing her son?”  And he stretched himself out on the child three times, and cried out to the LORD and said, “O LORD my God, I pray, let this child’s soul come back to him.”  Then the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came back to him, and he revived.  And Elijah took the child and brought him down from the upper room into the house, and gave him to his mother. And Elijah said, “See, your son lives!”  Then the woman said to Elijah, “Now by this I know that you are a man of God, and that the word of the LORD in your mouth is the truth.” 1 Kings 17:18-24

Problems come not to destroy us but prove who we are and the power that we have. Elijah proved that he was a true man of God by taking the son to his upper room, laying him on the bed, and crying out to the LORD to resurrect this boy. And Then the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came back to him, and he revived.  And Elijah took the child and brought him down from the upper room into the house, and gave him to his mother. And Elijah said, “See, your son lives!”

Elisha, who received a double portion of the anointing that was on Elijah, also raised a woman, who also owned a home, her son from the dead. The bible records:

Then Elisha spoke to the woman whose son he had restored to life, saying, “Arise and go, you and your household, and stay wherever you can; for the LORD has called for a famine, and furthermore, it will come upon the land for seven years.” So the woman arose and did according to the saying of the man of God, and she went with her household and dwelt in the land of the Philistines seven years. It came to pass, at the end of seven years, that the woman returned from the land of the Philistines; and she went to make an appeal to the king for her house and for her land. Then the king talked with Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, saying, “Tell me, please, all the great things Elisha has done.” Now it happened, as he was telling the king how he had restored the dead to life, that there was the woman whose son he had restored to life, appealing to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, “My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son whom Elisha restored to life.” And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed a certain officer for her, saying, “Restore all that was hers, and all the proceeds of the field from the day that she left the land until now.” 2 Kings 8:1-6

In obedience to the word of the LORD spoken by Elisha, the woman arose and went to the land of the Philistines along with her household for the LORD had called for a famine to come upon the land for seven years. As a result she lost her house and her land and she went to make an appeal to the king for her house and for her land. And as God would have it, the king was talking  with Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, about  all the great things Elisha has done.” And it happened, as he was telling the king how Elisha had restored the dead to life, that the woman whose son he had restored to life, appeared. And Gehazi said, “My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son whom Elisha restored to life.”  So the king appointed a certain officer for her, saying, “Restore all that was hers, and all the proceeds of the field from the day that she left the land until now.” In other words those who obey the word of the Lord, will find that God will take care of them no matter how negative the situation might be.

Storms don’t mean that we are not in the will of God as the disciples of Jesus proved to be true! Jesus told His disciples “Let us cross over to the other side of the lake.” So He got into a boat with His disciples. And He said to them, and they launched out.  But as they sailed He fell asleep. And a suddenly a  windstorm came down on the lake, and the boat was  filling with water, and the disciples were afraid. The bible records:

And they came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” Then He arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water. And they ceased, and there was a calm.  But He said to them, “Where is your faith?” And they were afraid, and marveled, saying to one another, “Who can this be? For He commands even the winds and water, and they obey Him!” Luke 8:24-25

But this is something that God’s people do not seem to understand that no matter what is going on the miracle working God of all power and unlimited riches and resources is on their side. God’s word is unchanging:

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 5:8-11

The Word and the Spirit
“Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.” (1 Corinthians 2:12)

How is it that some people can read a biblical passage and find it either tedious, confusing, or even foolish, whereas others will receive great understanding and blessing from the very same passage? The answer is that the first group are animated only by the spirit of the world, “the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience” (Ephesians 2:2), whereas the others are indwelled by the Spirit of God, having received the Holy Spirit when they trusted Christ for forgiveness and salvation.

It was, after all, the Holy Spirit who inspired the Scriptures to begin with. “Holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost” (2 Peter 1:21). “All scripture is given by inspiration of God” (2 Timothy 3:16), that is, “God-breathed,” where the “breath of God” is none other than the “Spirit of God.” Concerning his own divinely inspired writings, Paul said: “We speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth” (1 Corinthians 2:13).

Likewise it is the same Spirit indwelling each believer who illumines, and confirms, and applies His own Scriptures to the individual Christian who reads or hears them. “The natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned” (1 Corinthians 2:14). On the other hand, Jesus promised His disciples that “when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth” (John 16:13).

This He does through the Scriptures He inspired, with blessings abundant as we study them prayerfully and with believing and obedient hearts.

WE ALL NEED TO CLAIM THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM THAT JESUS HAD EVEN DAILY!

Isaiah 11: 1    There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, And a Branch shall grow out of his roots.
2     The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.
3     His delight is in the fear of the LORD, And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, Nor decide by the hearing of His ears;
4     But with righteousness He shall judge the poor, And decide with equity for the meek of the earth; He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, And with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked.
5     Righteousness shall be the belt of His loins, And faithfulness the belt of His waist.
