GIDEON WON

GS WITH GOD, ONE COURAGEOUS OBEDIENT MAN CAN AND WILL MAKE A GREAT DIFFERENCE IN ANY NEGATIVE SITUATION. GOD’S WORD IS TRUE:

By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they were encircled for seven days.  By faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe, when she had received the spies with peace.  And what more shall I say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gideon and Barak and Samson and Jephthah, also of David and Samuel and the prophets:  who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. Hebrews 11:30-34

God’s word tells us that Israel was in turbulent condition. The Midianites surrounded them. At that time, they cried. God gave a deliverer called ‘GIDEON’. The Word of God records:

Then the LORD said to him, “Peace be with you; do not fear, you shall not die.”  So Gideon built an altar there to the LORD, and called it The-LORD-Is-Peace. To this day it is still in Ophrah of the Abiezrites. Judges 6:23-24

Now the Angel of the LORD came and sat under the terebinth tree which was in Ophrah, which belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, while his son Gideon threshed wheat in the winepress, in order to hide it from the Midianites.  And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him, and said to him, “The LORD is with you, you mighty man of valor!”  Gideon said to Him, “O my lord, if the LORD is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about, saying, ‘Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the LORD has forsaken us and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.”  Then the LORD turned to him and said, “Go in this might of yours, and you shall save Israel from the hand of the Midianites. Have I not sent you?” So he said to Him, “O my Lord, how can I save Israel? Indeed my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.” And the LORD said to him, “Surely I will be with you, and you shall defeat the Midianites as one man.” Judge 6:11-16

Gideon acted on God’s word to him  and 32,000 fellow Israelites answered his call for help against the Midianites. But God had other plans and He scaled down the army from 32,000 to 10,000, then further to only 300 so that He alone would get all the glory.  God reassured Gideon: “By the three hundred men who lapped I will save you, and deliver the Midianites into your hand” (Judges 7:7). To reassure Gideon further, God told him to go with his servant to the enemy camp at night to “hear what they say; and afterward your hands shall be strengthened to go down against the camp”

Even though it didn’t make sense in the natural courageous Gideon obeyed all that God instructed him to do and won a great victory over the Midianites! Of course he had supernatural help. The bible records:

Judges 7:19 So Gideon and the hundred men who were with him came to the outpost of the camp at the beginning of the middle watch, just as they had posted the watch; and they blew the trumpets and broke the pitchers that were in their hands. 20 Then the three companies blew the trumpets and broke the pitchers — they held the torches in their left hands and the trumpets in their right hands for blowing — and they cried, “The sword of the LORD and of Gideon!” 21 And every man stood in his place all around the camp; and the whole army ran and cried out and fled. 22 When the three hundred blew the trumpets, the LORD set every man’s sword against his companion throughout the whole camp; and the army fled to Beth Acacia, toward Zererah, as far as the border of Abel Meholah, by Tabbath

“And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force. Matthew 11:12

Yes, the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force. Gideon and Barak and Samson and Jephthah,  David and Samuel and the prophets  through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,  quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. They just didn’t let things happen through their faith they made things too happen. Spoils of war went to those who fought in the battles even of their own choosing. The bible records for our profit and instruction:

By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter,  choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin,  esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.
By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.
By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, lest he who destroyed the firstborn should touch them.
By faith they passed through the Red Sea as by dry land, whereas the Egyptians, attempting to do so, were drowned.
By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they were encircled for seven days.
By faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe, when she had received the spies with peace. Hebrews 11:24-31

Whatever we need God will provide. He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? We shall not want… JEHOVAH-JIREH (JEHOVAH is our Provider). When we know the Lord as our ‘Shepherd’  He will be our provider, all sufficient-one. Therefore, we shall not lack or want anything because nothing is impossible with God

And because JEHOVAH- SHALOM, The-LORD-Is-Peace,  He makes us to lie down in green pastures; He leads us beside the still waters. The sheep are very happy. Lying down in Green pastures and still waters (not turbulent waters) all speak of peaceful conditions

The word Salvation-soteria is defined in the bible as being established in “protection, preservation, prosperity, promotions, provisions, soundness, healing, deliverance and the ministry of angels.” But salvation is a personal thing. It comes as we put our trust in the name of the person who is called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, our Lord, and receive the new birth and the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. As we receive not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God we become a spiritual being where we now have the mind of Christ.  Through the Holy Spirit, the other Helper, the Guide, the Counselor, we receive and begin to know the things that have been freely given to us by God. We are now led and guided in all things – trusting the Holy Spirit just like Jesus did.

Yes, Jesus Christ is our Salvation and He rescues us from harm, danger or loss, He keeps us in a safe condition and prevents the waste or loss of things for us as we abide under the shadow of the Almighty. God’s word is true:

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler  And from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. Psalm 91:1-4

No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over you,  To keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot. “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.” Psalm 91:10-16

Yes the Lord is our healer of all things that the enemies of life bring upon us be it physical sickness, broken hearts, inner hurts or disappointments. God’s word is true:

When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick,  that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying:  “He Himself took our infirmities  And bore our sicknesses.” Matthew 8:16-17

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever. Psalm 23: 5

“All the way around shall be eighteen thousand cubits; and the name of the city from that day shall be: THE LORD Is THERE.” Ezekiel 48:35

The Lord will be with us forever. He is a very present help in time of trouble. Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling. For there is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God,  The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High. God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved;  God shall help her, just at the break of dawn (Psalm 46:1-5). His word is unchanging:

“The LORD bless you and keep you; The LORD make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you;  The LORD lift up His countenance upon you,  And give you peace.” Number 6:24-26

“And He will love you and bless you and multiply you; He will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your land, your grain and your new wine and your oil, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flock, in the land of which He swore to your fathers to give you. “You shall be blessed above all peoples; there shall not be a male or female barren among you or among your livestock. “And the LORD will take away from you all sickness, and will afflict you with none of the terrible diseases of Egypt which you have known, but will lay them on all those who hate you. Deuteronomy 7:13-15
