BLESSED

AA
BLESSED TO BE A BLESSING

And God [is] able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all [things], may have an abundance for every good work. – 2 Corinthians 9:8

Do you remember the words that God pronounced over Abraham? He said, “I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing” (Genesis 12:2).

My friend, as you trust God to walk more and more in the fullness of Abraham’s blessing, have a revelation that He blesses you because He loves you, and gives to you the privilege of being a practical extension of His love to your community, your country and beyond.

God’s financial provision is for a divine purpose. Don’t use people and love money. Instead, use money to love people! When it comes to our relationship with people, it is always more blessed to give than to receive. Have an abundant eye and heart, look around for people in need and bless them. Let your light so shine before all men for the glory of the name of Jesus Christ!

Today, see His abundant grace abounding toward you and your family so that you will have an abundance for every good work!

“We live in a Heavenly Kingdom & regardless of what goes on down here, we’re gonna prosper!”

“In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began” (Titus 1:2).

God’s promises have been established from the foundations of the world. His Word is infallible!

FORGIVE AND LET GOD DO THE REST

Ephesians 4:32 – And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

People like to say, I can forgive, but I cannot forget. Have you heard that before? Now, in the first place, nowhere in the Bible does God tell you to forgive and then to forget. It is not in the Bible! The devil is adding something here to make the whole thing burdensome.

God only tells us to forgive because God in Christ has forgiven us a debt we cannot pay. When we do this, we do ourselves a favor because harboring bitterness and unforgiveness can sometimes destroy our health!

So just forgive and let God take care of the rest. When you really forgive, sometimes, He makes you forget. But sometimes, you still remember the incident because it was a major thing in your life. Yet, when you look back at it, the pain is no more there. The sting is gone and you are not bitter.

Joseph had forgiven his brothers before they came and bowed before him. He remembered what they did to him, but he did not remember it with bitterness. (Genesis 50:1521) So you may remember the incident, but the bitterness is gone because you have put the cross in the picture God in Christ forgave me. Daddy, I forgive you. Mama, I forgive you. My cousin, I forgive you.

When you forgive, forgive by faith, not by your feelings. We walk by faith, not feelings. (2 Corinthians 5:7) Some people are waiting for feelingsI am waiting, Father, for the right emotion to come on me to forgive that person. That right emotion may never come!

No, forgive by faith, and do it once and for all. Spend time in prayer. Take out your diary and write it down: Father, I bring this person before you. You know what he did to me. Father, as You forgave me through Jesus cross, even though I did not deserve it, by faith, I now forgive this person and I let my anger against him go in Jesus name. Amen!

Once you forgive by faith, you will see the sting of bitterness removed from your heart. You will experience the peace and joy of God filling your mind, and see a greater measure of wholeness in your body!

TODAY LET “PEACE” SETTLE THE QUESTIONS IN YOUR MIND …

Did you know that as believers, each one of us has an internal umpire? You might be wondering why we need an internal umpire, but think about what an umpire does. An umpire lets you know what the rules or boundaries are. An umpire arbitrates matters that may seem unclear. They “call the shots,” so to speak. God has given us an internal umpire, the Holy Spirit, to give us boundaries, to show us God’s will for our lives, and settle any matters in our hearts that may seem unclear.

Colossians 3:15 in the Amplified says, “Let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state]…”

God has given us His peace as a special gift to rule in our hearts and give us finality in every decision. Like an umpire, His peace lets us know when we are safe and when we are out of bounds. Peace is right for all occasions. When we have peace in our hearts, we are able to discern the perfect will of God for our lives. On the other hand, in the absence of peace, there is turmoil and confusion. Anytime we feel unsettled about something, if we will go back and make a few minor adjustments, if we listen to the Umpire, we can find the place of peace again.

The Bible says to seek peace and pursue it eagerly. In other words, it should be our highest priority in any circumstance. Remember when Jesus was on the boat in the midst of the storm? The disciples were fearful and upset, but Jesus was in perfect peace, asleep in the back. When they woke Him up, He simply walked out on deck and said, “Peace, be still.” He spoke to the winds and the waves, and they obeyed Him. Because He was in peace, He was able to operate from a place of confidence and authority to speak to the storms that surrounded Him.

Today, eagerly pursue peace. Let it settle the questions of your mind. Remember, if you don’t have peace going into a situation, you won’t have peace on the other side of it. Whether it’s in a relationship, a financial situation, or an opportunity before you, never move forward without the peace of God. Let peace be your final authority because when you walk in His perfect peace, you walk in His perfect will. Listen to your Internal Umpire and stay on the course of blessing God has for your life.

You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace… (Isaiah 55:12, NIV)

HOW TO BUILD A GREAT MARRIAGE

‘A wife should put her husband first, as she does the Lord.’ Ephesians 5:22 CEV

If you want a great marriage, you’ve got to work at it every day. The Bible gives us God’s blueprint for one: ‘You wives must learn to adapt yourselves to your husbands, as you submit yourselves to the Lord, for the husband is the “head” of the wife in the same way that Christ is head of the Church and saviour of the Body. The willing subjection of the Church to Christ should be reproduced in the submission of wives to their husbands. But, remember, this means that the husband must give his wife the same sort of love that Christ gave to the Church, when He sacrificed Himself for her… Men ought to give their wives the love they naturally have for their own bodies. The love a man gives his wife is the extending of his love for himself to enfold her. Nobody ever hates or neglects his own body; he feeds and looks after it. And that is what Christ does for His body, the Church. And we are all members of that body, we are His flesh and blood! “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” The marriage relationship is doubtless a great mystery, but I am speaking of something deeper still—the marriage of Christ and His Church. In practice what I have said amounts to this: let every one of you who is a husband love his wife as he loves himself; let the wife reverence her husband.’ (Ephesians 5:21–33 PHPS) That’s how to build a great marriage!

EXPECT PERSECUTION

John 15:19 “If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.”

We should not think it is strange to be persecuted. “All that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution” (2 Tim. 3:12). We can actually rejoice because we are being persecuted for Jesus’ sake, and the Lord will be with us in the midst of the persecution. When we stand before Him, there will be more than ample reward.

Persecution is a token that those persecuting you are under conviction. They realize that they are not living what your words or actions are advocating and in self defense, they attack you, who they perceive is the source of their conviction. If you understand this, it makes persecution much easier to take. They aren’t just mad at you; they are convicted. When the gospel is presented in the power of the Holy Spirit, there will always be either revival or riot, but not indifference.

In the midst of persecution, Satan will try to convince us that the strife is all our fault. If he succeeds, then we back down and the pressure is off his followers. However, Jesus suffered continual rejection and persecution, yet we know that the problem was not with Him, but with those who rejected Him.

Jesus makes it clear that persecution is an inevitable part of living a godly life, so that we will not fall prey to introspection and self-condemnation when rejection comes. If our sinless Savior was rejected, then certainly we will be too. Don’t feel guilty or condemned when persecution comes. The Word strips people of the disguises they have been hiding their sins behind, and the result is persecution.

ALL TOGETHER

Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth; break forth in song, rejoice, and sing praises. — Psalm 98:4

For years my wife’s piano and my banjo had an uncomfortable and infrequent relationship. Then, after Janet bought me a new guitar for my birthday, she expressed an interest in learning to play my old guitar. She is a very capable musician, and soon we were, together, playing songs of praise on our guitars. I like to think that a new kind of “praise connection” has filled our home.

When the psalmist was inspired to write of worshiping God, he began with this exhortation: “Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth; break forth in song, rejoice, and sing praises” (Ps. 98:4). He called for us to “sing to the LORD” with instruments such as harps and trumpets and horns (vv.5-6). He commanded all of the earth to “shout joyfully to the LORD” (v.4). In this mighty orchestration of praise, the rolling sea is to roar with exaltation, the rivers are to clap their hands, and the hills are to sing out in joy. All the human race and creation are together called to praise the Lord in “a new song” of praise, “for He has done marvelous things” (v.1).

Today let your heart connect with others and God’s creation in singing songs of praise to the mighty Creator and Redeemer.

Let us celebrate together,
Lift our voice in one accord,
Singing of God’s grace and mercy
And the goodness of the Lord.

God can use ordinary instruments to produce a concert of praise.

TRUE TO YOUR ASSESSMENT …

Leviticus 27:12 – … the priest shall set a value for it, whether it is good or bad; as you, the priest, value it, so it shall be.

Your colleague says that this week is going to be a lousy one because the new boss is mean. You disagree and say that it is going to be a blessed week. Both of you will go through the same week, but with very different outcomes. While your friends week will indeed turn out to be a lousy one, yours will be filled with the favor of the Lord!

In the Old Testament, when someone brought what he had to the priest for a valuation, whatever the priest assessed the value of the item to be, it was so. If he assessed it to be of good value, then it was of good value. If he assessed it to be of poor value, then it was of poor value.

Today, you are also a priest because of Jesus blood. (Revelation 1:56) And as you, the priest, value it, so it shall be. If you assess your year to be one of financial breakthroughs, so it will be for you. If you assess your life to be filled with divine health, so it will be for you.

There was a stroke patient who was bedridden. While listening to my recorded sermons, he assessed that with God as his salvation, his life would be long and satisfying. (Psalm 91:16) He believed that God would help him walk again. Not too long after his assessment, he was able to walk and was no longer bound to the bed! The next assessment he made about his health was complete recovery with God as his helper.

Actually, you have more authority than the Levitical priests of the Old Testament. They were of the old priesthood of mortal men. But you are of the greater and forever priesthood of Jesus! (Hebrews 7:8, 17) Not only that, you are a king-priest. (Revelation 1:6) In other words, you are a king as well! And as a king, your assessment is also binding because where the word of a king is, there is power! (Ecclesiastes 8:4)

My friend, this means that you have a double portion of assessment power. Therefore, boldly assess good things for your life, and it will be so for you!

KNOW WHO YOU ARE

If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. – 1 Corinthians 12: 17–18, NIV

In the New Testament, John was baptizing a crowd of people and drawing a lot of attention. Somebody came up and said, “John, are you the Christ or should we keep looking?” Without missing a beat, John said, “No, I am not the Messiah.”

See, John knew what he was, but he also knew what he was not. It’s just as important to know what you’re not because if you don’t realize your limitations, you’ll get drawn into areas that may look impressive and may feed your ego, but they are outside of your gifting and calling, outside of what God anointed you to do.

Anytime you go outside of your limitations, it will be a constant struggle. Don’t let that be you! Instead, stay focused on what you’re good at. Follow peace in your heart and know who you are because God created you just the way He wants you to be!

BE TENACIOUS

‘But none of these things move me.’ Acts 20:24 NKJV

Paul writes: ‘The Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that chains and tribulations await me. But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy.’ (Acts 20:23–24 NKJV).Dr. John Maxwell says one day when he was discouraged and tempted to quit, he took out a dictionary and looked up the word ‘quit’. After spending a few minutes considering that option, in a symbolic act of defiance he took out his scissors and cut the word right out of his dictionary. It didn’t make his problems go away, but it sure did strengthen his resolve. When every avenue looks like a dead end and you feel as if you’ve exhausted every possibility—you haven’t. There are always other ways, other options, other opportunities. Even if you don’t see them right now, they are there. So don’t give up. Former heavyweight champion Jack Dempsey once said, ‘A champion is one who gets back up when he can’t.’ People who reach their goal keep going when they think they can’t. They’re tenacious, and as a result they keep moving closer to their goal day by day. Some days they may be moving only a few centimetres at a time, but they’re moving forward. They believe in their God–given destiny, they believe in themselves, and they say so. Now, saying you believe in yourself won’t guarantee your success, but saying you don’t believe in yourself will guarantee your failure. The truth is you’re not alone, God is with you. ‘He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.’ (Isaiah 40:29 NIV) So be tenacious!

A FRIEND TO ALL

20100328
JESUS HAS COMPASSION FOR ALL???

THE IDEA THAT JESUS IS AND WAS FRIENDS TO AND WITH ALL IS FALSE! IT ISN’T A BIBLICAL TRUTH!

JOHN 2:23 Now when He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name when they saw the signs which He did.
24 But Jesus did not commit Himself to them, because He knew all men,
25 and had no need that anyone should testify of man, for He knew what was in man.

REV 3:23    14 “And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, ‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God:
15 “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot.
16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.
17 Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’ — and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked —
18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.
19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.
20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
22 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” ‘ ”

TO SAY “JESUS HAS COMPASSION FOR ALL” IS FALSE AND IS PORTRAYING  A COUNTERFEIT JESUS. FOR THE RECORD:
Jesus the epitome of love and character didn’t go around blessing people with words. He didn’t bless the religious and political leaders of his day but cursed them with ‘woe to you’ which doesn’t mean something good is going to happen to you especially when spoken by God incarnate.

Yes Jesus the epitome of love and character bad mouthed people. He called them all kinds of names including fools, hypocrites, murderers, serpents, brood of vipers, liars, blind guides, sons of hell, etc. He told them they would not escape the condemnation of hell (matthew 23:15, 33, luke 11:24-25, 23:38-31) and they didn’t!

But when it came to the poor and needy Jesus attitude and approach to such as these was completely different.  The bible says of Jesus ‘A bruised reed He will not break, And smoking flax He will not quench, Till He sends forth justice to victory; And in His name Gentiles will trust’ (Matthew 12:20-21). He demonstrated His love for them by His miracle deeds. He healed the blind and cleansed the lepers. He was and is very kind and compassionate towards those who are poor and needy and need a miracle. When he saw a bereaving widow whose only son had died, he had compassion and brought the son back to life and presented him to his mother (Luke 7:12-15). When He saw a great multitude, He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick (Matthew 9:36, 14:14). When the blind men asked for healing, He had compassion and touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him (Matthew 20:30-34).

IT’S A LIE TO STATE JESUS HAD COMPASSION FOR ALL AS THERE WAS NO COMPASSION SHOWN BY JESUS IN Luke 13: 1 There were present at that season some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
2 And Jesus answered and said to them, “Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things?
3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.
4 Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem?
5 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.”

PEOPLE WHO SAY THEY ARE CHRISTIANS BUT ARE NOT BAPTIZED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT WITH THE EVIDENCE OF MIRACLES SIGNS AND WONDERS ARE OFF THE WALL AND DON’T  KNOW THE REAL JESUS. SO HOW CAN YOU EXPECT THEM TO PROPERLY TELL THE TRUTH ABOUT GOD? YOU CANNOT!

YOU FAITH MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

AANot all demonic strongholds are obvious. Discover and break those that are deceptively hidden! (Flickr/Elliott Brown)

Where does most spiritual warfare take place? Immediately, images from movies like The Exorcist or, more recently, Annabelle and Paranormal Activity, come to mind.

The Center for Spiritual Warfare

Unfortunately, we have over-spiritualized spiritual warfare. Is this possible? Absolutely. The devil loves it because he can keep us trapped in a prison of deception. We are always looking for the wrong thing when it comes to engaging this battle. We are looking for demons, occult activities and those dabbling in the dark arts. We are seeking out séances, sorcery, and principalities exercising their  malevolent influence over cities. Are these legitimate ways the devil gains a stronghold in people’s lives? Yes, but it is not the most common way.

It is worth reminding ourselves that the main stage for all spiritual battle is in our minds. Even when it comes to those obvious expressions of demonic activity—the occult, witchcraft, sorcery, dark arts—people don’t just end up ensnared in them one day. It all began with what the enemy planted in our minds, and what deception we decided to tolerate.

This is why Paul clearly tells us, “We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.” (2 Cor. 10:5, ESV)

What are we destroying? Arguments.

What are we instructed to take captive? Thoughts.

Equipped for Battle and Victory

In my book, Breakthrough Faith: Living a Life Where Anything is Possible, I am not out to give people some pie in the sky, health-and-wealth, “If you just do these things, you will never have a problem… ever” kind of formula. This is where I have strong opposition to the carnal prosperity message. God is not our butler. He is not Santa Claus. Let’s clarify that straight up.

However, God has made a sovereign decision to partner with redeemed humanity to bring His Kingdom purposes to pass on Earth as it is in Heaven (see Matt. 6:10). Jesus’ vision for the church was one of victory and advancement: “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven” (Matthew 16:19, NASB).

To partner with God to bring the demonstration of His Kingdom into this world—and our everyday lives—there are a few things we need to believe about God and the operation of His Kingdom. Okay, even though I say “believe,” we need to Biblically believe these things. A belief carries significant, transformational weight when it changes the way we think and ultimately impacts how we live. Otherwise, we are not believing anything; we are mentally agreeing with a concept. This is not belief; this is not hope. Believers don’t simply agree with the concept that Jesus was the Son of God or that He died on the cross. Even the demons believe this and the Bible says they “tremble” or “shudder” (see Jas. 2:19).

Hope Exposes You To New, Supernatural Possibilities

Here is my fear. In the age in which we live, we have unbelieving believers. This won’t cut it, friends. The enemy seeks to keep us from hoping. Hope is not wishing on a star. Biblical hope is the confident expectation of a certain outcome. Where is this of hope born? In being exposed to new supernatural possibilities. Hope awakens in your heart when you are introduced to realities that were previously off your grid. But when you see the possible… the sick person healed. The dead man raised. The tormented woman delivered. The relationship hanging on by a thread restored. Exposure to the possible makes you discontent embracing the impossible as normal. How can you when you’ve been introduced to the God of miracles? Miracles awaken our hope. They aren’t spectacles designed to dazzle and entertain. Such is the perspective of a carnal, “name it, claim it” theology. Miracles unveil the invisible God. They show us His nature. They reveal His character. Miracles remind us that there is another world at work in our world—the superior influence of God’s Kingdom. These are the realities we are to live mindful of. The devil, on the other hand, would prefer the church to live blind and deaf to the miracle realm.

The statement of faith on our websites is not enough. It’s nice that, on paper, we claim to believe in the historic doctrines of the faith. I celebrate the fact that as a Pentecostal or Charismatic church, you acknowledge that the gifts of the Spirit are still in action. Let me ask you this: Is your church operating in the supernatural as the normal? Or is it the exception? Are you seeing people healed, delivered and set free? Do you gather around God’s Presence, or do you assemble around a pastor and his sermon?

Two Strongholds That Want to Destroy Your Hope

From what I have observed, there are two common strongholds that the enemy tries to use to restrain the church for moving in supernatural power and thus, prevents people from being exposed to new possibilities. In fact, these two strongholds work together: 1) Cessationism and 2) Legalism. I go into much more detail about them in Breakthrough Faith. For the sake of time, I want to give you a brief idea of what each concept is, why it is a stronghold, and how to start breaking it.

  1. Cessationism.  This has been a popular theological topic as of late, especially in the wake of last Fall’s Strange Fire conference at John MacArthur’s church. Basically, cessation theory believes that the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit are no longer in operation today. The normative demonstration of God’s miraculous power (namely healing, miracles, and tongues), in the Earth, ceased with the canonization of Scripture. Let me make it clear, not all cessationists are created equal. You have some who believe that God still performs miracles and heals today; they just don’t believe it should be expected with regularity. You have much more stringent cessationists who not only believe this kind of activity has ceased, but accuse those who adhere to such belief systems as being under a deceptive or even demonic influence. Why is cessationism a stronghold? Simple and practical: It blinds people to hope of new supernatural possibilities. Can God heal? Will He perform the miraculous? Should we expect Him to deliver the tormented and demonized? Sadly, these questions are already answered when we uphold a cessationist viewpoint. We don’t allow ourselves to hope for the supernatural and this is what restrains faith from operating. It’s not that we don’t have enough faith. Far from it. Cessationists have enough faith to be healed and release healing; the problem is they cannot activate this faith because they don’t have hope that the supernatural is even a possibility for them. When we remain trapped in a strict cessationist perspective, we tend to uphold a theology of tradition above the theology of Scripture. Ask yourself: if someone was converted to Christianity and then dropped onto a deserted island with nothing but the Bible, what would he or she come back believing? It would not be cessationism. Let the Bible and the example of Jesus dictate what forms the basis of your hope, not the opinions of people.

  2. Legalism. Commonly, we think of legalism as the classic “Do not” list of Christian culture. But there are other faces to this stronghold as well. Legalism keeps people trapped, in both religious works and religious doctrines. Cessationism is such a religious doctrine. Legalism prevents us from bowing low before Scripture and instead, it keeps us in bondage to the traditions of men. It’s how we’ve always done it or it’s what I have always believed. Legalism refuses to let us look past what we have been exposed to all of our Christian lives, even if we start to Biblically second guess what we have been spoon-fed by certain leaders. How do we overcome legalism? Once again, breakthrough is born in great simplicity. We simply need to look at Scripture and be confronted by the example of Jesus. That’s it! Jesus answers the “What is God’s will” question every time, from salvation to healing to deliverance. This is what completely demolishes the stronghold of cessationism. Scripture reminds us that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Heb. 13:8, ESV). When we cling to this Truth of Jesus’ eternal sameness and make the decision to uphold it above anything else, we position ourselves to start hoping again.

The enemy is out to steal your hope. After all, a hope-full people are a tremendous threat to the kingdom of darkness. One of the most popular ways the devil tries to steal your hope is by convincing you that God doesn’t move anymore—that miracles, signs and wonders are not for today.

Today, I invite you to arise, look upon the Unchanging Jesus and remind yourself that the God Who did … will do again. He has not changed. When you expose yourself to the possibility that Jesus wants to break through in your situation, hope is born and you have everything you need to release mountain-moving faith!

In Faith And Love

“For behold, the day is coming, Burning like an oven, And all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble.  And the day which is coming shall burn them up,”  Says the LORD of hosts, “That will leave them neither root nor branch. But to you who fear My name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise With healing in His wings; And you shall go out And grow fat like stall-fed calves. You shall trample the wicked,  For they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet On the day that I do this,”  Says the LORD of hosts. Malachi 4:1-3

Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.  That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. 2 Timothy 1:13-14

Jesus Christ paid on the cross the price for all the blessings that are now ours in Christ Jesus including grace which can be defined at God’s riches at Christ’s expense!  Therefore we let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God until we see the manifestation of victory, blessings and long life.

Yes God has promised for those who fear His name, The Sun of Righteousness shall arise With healing in His wings; And you shall go out And grow fat like stall-fed calves. You shall trample the wicked,  For they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet On the day that I do this.” And this is quite an all inclusive promise from a God who doesn’t lie!   God’s word is true:

The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe. Proverbs 18:10

A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Proverbs 18:24

Do not say, “I will recompense evil”; Wait for the LORD, and He will save you. Proverbs 20:22

In the Bible we see that Joseph faced many trials and tribulations in his young age. But in the end God blessed him abundantly (Genesis 41:41-43). Similarly, all the sorrows and struggles of Job were changed dramatically and he was blessed with twice as much as he had in the beginning (Job 42:10).

When we made Jesus Lord of our lives we came into a Covenant relationship with Jesus we became part of His family and we have a right to all the privileges in that family. We have become one with Him, all He has is ours and all we have is His. We have become a joint heir with Jesus we are heir to all the Father has. We have also been given authority to overcome every attack of the enemy and have victory. Jesus defeated Satan and took away his power to harm us but he will still try to deceive us and if we believe the deception of the devil instead of the Word of God we will be defeated.

Knowing Jesus and who He is in us and who we are in Him will give us victory every time. Instead of fearing a situation we take the Word of God and apply it and watch the situation turn out for good. Fear will take our mind off God and His word and leave us with the problem; faith will keep God’s Word on our mind and see victory. Faith comes through fellowship with Jesus, talking to Him, reading His Word, hearing His Word. We have victory now in Jesus. God’s promises are for us today. When we ask God for something it should not be hoping He will hear and answer it should be knowing He will answer. Prayer is for God’s glory, prayer is to accomplish God’s will in a situation in our lives or the lives of others. And God’s word is unchanging:

Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, But the LORD weighs the hearts.  To do righteousness and justice  Is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice. A haughty look, a proud heart, And the plowing of the wicked are sin. The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty,  But those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty.  Getting treasures by a lying tongue Is the fleeting fantasy of those who seek death. The violence of the wicked will destroy them, Because they refuse to do justice. The way of a guilty man is perverse; But as for the pure, his work is right. Proverbs 21:2-4

It is a joy for the just to do justice, But destruction will come to the workers of iniquity.  A man who wanders from the way of understanding Will rest in the assembly of the dead. Proverbs 21:15-16

He who follows righteousness and mercy Finds life, righteousness and honor.  A wise man scales the city of the mighty,  And brings down the trusted stronghold. Whoever guards his mouth and tongue Keeps his soul from troubles.  A proud and haughty man-“Scoffer” is his name; He acts with arrogant pride. Proverbs 21:21-24

Now the word of God doesn’t have nice things to say about fools especially those who ignore doing justice and righteousness and are arrogant and proud! Fools who ignore that it is a joy for the just to do justice, but destruction will come to the workers of iniquity including those who don’t guard their mouth and tongue! Yes, a man who wanders from the way of understanding will rest in the assembly of the dead in spite of the doctrine of demons of “once saved always saved” or that he had worked miracles. His portion will be appointed with unbelievers for Jesus Who doesn’t lie told all:

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.  “You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?  “Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.  “A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.  “Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. “Therefore by their fruits you will know them.  “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.  “Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’  “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ Matthew 7:15-23

“But if that servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and be drunk,  “the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.  “And that servant who knew his master’s will, and did not prepare himself or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.  “But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more. Luke 12:45-48

“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.  “If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. John 15:4-6

Yes in 1 Timothy 4:1 Apostle Paul told us  “Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons.” Departing from the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints is a personal choice which men make and God doesn’t stop them if they have become cold hearted, callous and belligerent! The LORD never goes where He is not invited or remains where He is not wanted. He has come and gone in many people’s lives. They have felt His passing but they continued on their way without Him and wonder where He had gone?  He went where He was wanted and received and loved. He went where He was heeded. God’s word is unchanging:

For with stammering lips and another tongue He will speak to this people, To whom He said, “This is the rest with which You may cause the weary to rest,”  And, “This is the refreshing”;  Yet they would not hear. But the word of the LORD was to them, “Precept upon precept, precept upon precept,  Line upon line, line upon line, Here a little, there a little,” That they might go and fall backward, and be broken  And snared and caught. Isaiah 28:11-13

Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.  And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:20-32

YOUR FUTURE

ABGOD HAS SEEN YOUR FUTURE AND IT IS GOOD!

Isaiah 54:2 – Enlarge the place of your tent, and let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; do not spare; lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes.

At the end of 2004, during one of our services, the Lord told our church this: I your God have gone ahead of you and I have already been to your future. I have seen it. And I declare that it is good.

Although this word was given through me to our church, I believe that it is not only for our church, but also for every member of the body of Christ.

I tell you, when God declares your future good, it will be good! It will be filled with many wonderfully good days!

So what do you do when the Lord tells you that you are going to have a good future loaded with His blessings? You prepare for it! In other words, before the blessings come, before the increase comes, He wants you to enlarge the place of your tent and stretch forth the curtains of your dwellings.

For example, if you are believing God for a child, start reading books on babies and preparing the babys room. In fact, prepare to have more than one child. Start looking for a bigger place for your family for God says, Enlarge the place of your tent, and let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; do not spare; lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes. Get ready for expansion!

My friend, God wants you to get ready, and expect such favor and increase in the days ahead that you shall expand to the right and to the left, and your descendants will inherit the nations, and make the desolate cities inhabited. (Isaiah 54:3)

Because God has declared your future good, know that you stand on favor ground today. Expect good things to happen to you. Expect to see the favor of God on you and your family. Expect the blessings and increase of the Lord. Expect many good days to show up in your life!

ALL TOGETHER …

Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth; break forth in song, rejoice, and sing praises. —Psalm 98:4

I like
to think that a new kind of “praise connection” has filled our home.

EVANGELISM EXISTS BECAUSE WORSHIP DOESN’T

Once Christ returns at the end of this age, all those who have been born again will be with God worshiping him, and missions will no longer be necessary. Worship is eternal, but evangelism is temporary.

Until Christ returns, the purpose of evangelism is to spread a passion for Christ. We evangelize so that all the peoples of the earth will “Sing to the Lord [and] proclaim his salvation day after day” (1 Chronicles 16:23). Said differently, the goal of missions is worship.

Not only is worship the goal of missions, but it is also the fuel of missions. Worship begets missions, and missions begets worship. In the words of pastor and author John Piper, “You can’t commend what you don’t cherish.” If you don’t treasure Christ, you won’t be compelled to encourage others to treasure him. Where zeal for Christ is lacking, passion for missions will be lukewarm.

Jesus instructs us to spread his name to all peoples (Matthew 28:16-20), but we’ll do so only once we come to the same point as the Apostle Paul, who exclaims, “I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish that I may gain Christ” (Philippians 3:8).

When, like Paul, we treasure Christ above all else, then we will be passionate about missions. But once Christ returns, evangelism will no longer be necessary because he will bring to himself and be worshiped by all those who have been made righteous in Christ. In the meantime, evangelism exists because there are still people called by Christ who are not worshipers of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

DON’T RUN FROM YOUR TRIALS …

Everyone faces many trials; however, these trials are not in vain. God uses them to do a work in us, developing us into mature Christians.

In James 1:2-4, we are told, Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. In other words, God uses the tough times in life to sharpen us, making us mature and complete Christians.

Furthermore, God will not permit you to remain in the same trials all of your life; in His proper timing He will deliver you. Psalm 34:17 says, The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.

So don’t run from your trials, because the testing of your faith develops you into a mature and complete Christian.

God’s anointing on you is more important than your talent, your education, or what family you come from.

If you have your health, if you have people in your life to love, you are blessed. Slow down and enjoy the simple things in life.

GREATER THAN THE PAST

‘The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,’ says the LORD Almighty. ‘And in this place I will grant peace’… – Haggai 2:9, NIV

God wants to amaze you with His goodness! We are living in a day where God is increasing His favor. Maybe you have seen God’s goodness to a certain degree in the past; but in reality, you haven’t seen anything yet! God has favor in your future that will supersede anything that you’ve seen!

The scripture talks about how the glory of the latter day will be greater than the glory of the former day. That means what God did for your parents or grandparents, He’s going to surpass in your generation. The blessing and favor of past generations were good, but we serve a God of increase! He has greater things in store for your future!

Today, get your hopes up! Enlarge your vision. Be expecting God to bring opportunities across your path. Be expecting to meet the right people and get the right breaks. Prepare your heart and mind to receive the increase and expect to see greater things in your future!

LET GOD PRUNE YOU HIS WAY

John 15:2 – “Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.”

This purging has been interpreted in many ways. The illustration that Jesus is using is one of pruning; therefore, some have said this purging is a very painful process where the Lord cuts and slashes us through things like sickness, death, poverty, and other forms of tragedy so that eventually we will bear more fruit. This teaching not only promotes problems as being good, but necessary, if we want to bear more fruit.

That thinking is not consistent with the rest of God’s Word or even the context of this verse. The text makes it very clear that the purging that Jesus speaks of is done through the Word that He has spoken unto us.

Paul said in 2 Timothy 3:16-17 that God’s Word was given to us “for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” That is God’s method of pruning us, and He doesn’t need the devil’s help. His word will make us “perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”

That is not to say that we cannot learn through tragedy: but God has a better way. If we mistakenly think that God is bringing tragedy into our lives to make us more fruitful, then we’ll not resist the tragedies and they will not flee from us. All of us will learn by hard knocks, but the man who welcomes them with wide open arms will suffer greatly and be far behind the man who lets God’s Word have His perfect work in him.

HEAD NOT TAIL

ABSEE YOURSELF IN CHRIST

Ephesians 1:3 – Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,

I remember going through a terrible time of depression when I was 18 years old. Believing that I was demon-possessed, I sought out a great man of God to have him cast the devil out of me. But when this man of God laid hands on me, he began to prophesy over me. He said, Joe, I see you preaching to thousands and used by God to impact thousands of lives. Joe, you are called by God and the devil is attempting to stop you.

What? I came here for deliverance! I am only interested in saving my own life, not preaching nor impacting lives, I thought to myself then.

You see, what happened was that at that moment, God allowed this man to step into the timeless zone He exists in to bring my future before me. As far as God was concerned, my future had already happened, though I was only 18 years old then. Today, I am a pastor of a church which has more than 30,000 members. Today, I am seeing what was told to me long ago.

God does not see as we see. Abraham was a childless, 100-year-old man. His wife, Sarah, at 90 years old, was doubly dead in her womb. (Genesis 17:17) Yet, God saw him and talked to him as if he were already the father of many nations.

My friend, God wants you to see the way He sees. Right now, you may see yourself going through a trial in your marriage, work, finances or health. But God sees a blessed marriage, success at work, supernatural provision and a healed body because He tells you that you are already blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.

You see, God sees you in Christ. So when you see yourself in Christ, who is outside time, you step into the timeless zone. In that timeless zone in Christ, whatever needs and trials of yours are already removed, repaired, restored or resurrected! In that timeless zone in Christ, you are already blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places!

SHARPEN YOUR SKILLS …

Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings… – Proverbs 22:29, NIV

Too often, it’s easy to get stuck in a rut, doing the same thing the same way over and over every day. But if we are going to live at our absolute best, we should constantly be growing and sharpening our skills. We should strive to learn and grow every single day because when we stop learning, we stop growing. When we stop growing, we stop living.

What are you doing to stretch yourself? What are you doing to improve your skills? Don’t get trapped into thinking that “good enough” is good enough. You were created for more than just average. Today is a new day, and there are new heights for you to climb. Pursue what you love and keep developing that area of your life. Take a class or find a mentor that will help you live skillfully. As scripture promises, you’ll go before leaders and rulers and excel in every area of life!

JESUS IN THE FLESH

John 14:28 “Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.”

Jesus stated His union with the Father so clearly that He was accused of blasphemy more than once. This statement about the Father being greater than Jesus must harmonize, not contradict other claims.

A key to understanding this is given in Philippians 2:6-8, where Paul states that Jesus didn’t think it was robbery to be equal with God, but humbled Himself, taking on the form of a servant (speaking of His humanity). Jesus was equal to God in His divine nature but He made Himself inferior to the Father in regard to His humanity. Jesus didn’t lose any of His deity when He became a man, but He did clothe it in flesh and submit it to the consequent limitations. In this sense, the Father was greater than Jesus.

Jesus is the pre-existent God who chose to become a man so he could redeem us by His own blood sacrifice. When He became a man, He was still one hundred percent God in His spirit, but His physical body was one hundred percent human. His body was sinless, but it was still flesh and subject to the natural things we all experience. The physical Jesus had to grow in wisdom and in stature.

When Jesus was born, His physical mind did not know all things. He had to be taught how to talk, walk, eat, and so forth. He had to learn that He was God in the flesh and accept that by faith. His physical mind grew in awareness of who He was. He had the witness in His spirit, but His physical mind had to “take it by faith”-the same way that we do when we believe who we are in the spiritual realm. Jesus’ mental comprehension of His deity was something He learned and accepted by faith. Jesus had to become aware of His true identity through revelation and knowledge. We must do the same.

“But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption” (1 Corinthians 1:30).

With Jesus, we are never bankrupt! Through Him, we have all we will ever need. We have been redeemed and made righteous through Him. We have wisdom because of Him—wisdom is the ability to use the knowledge we have. We have also been sanctified because of Him.

GOD IS WITH YOU IN YOUR FIERY TRIAL
…“I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.” – Daniel 3:25

When Daniel’s friends, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego, were cast into the fiery furnace by Nebuchadnezzar, guess who showed up? Jesus! He was there in the furnace with them to protect and deliver them. Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego came out of the fire totally unharmed—“the hair of their head was not singed nor were their garments affected, and the smell of fire was not on them” (Daniel 3:27)
!
My friend, when you go through a fiery trial, the Lord is not somewhere far away, saying, “Yep, from the comfort of My heavenly throne, I can see what you are going through. Even though I’m not with you, I can see you, so just hang in there, okay?”

No, He is right there with you in your trial. Not only that, He will protect you and deliver you. The Bible says that “God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it” (1 Corinthians 10:13).

So whatever the fiery trial you are going through today, God is right there with you. He will protect you, comfort you and make a way of escape for you. Put your hand in His hand and let Him bring you out of the “furnace” without even smelling of the smoke of your negative circumstances!

LET NOT YOUR HEART BE TROUBLED

John 14:27 – Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

The night before Jesus died, He gave His peace to His disciples Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you This peace was not just for His disciples, but also for us today. We have His peace.

The moment you believe in Jesus Christ, He who is the Prince of Peace comes to live inside you. And when the Prince of Peace resides in you, every blessing that you will ever need pertaining to your soundness and wholeness is already inside you.

Pastor, if this is true, then why do I still see problems in my health, finances, family and relationships?

The answer is a troubled heart. That is why after Jesus said, Peace I leave with you, He said, Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

A troubled and fearful heart works like fingers that clamp down hard on a water hose. The supply of water is flowing from the tap, but little or nothing is coming out at the other end of the hose. Gods ever-present supply of blessings toward you is like the water flowing freely from the tap. But you don’t see the blessings when you allow your heart to be gripped by worry or fear.

So when fearful, anxious thoughts come, remind yourself of Jesus words: Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. Even when things appear to get worse, say, Lord, I refuse to worry about this. In the midst of all this, I see the finished work of Christ. He said, It is finished! So my child’s healing is accomplished. My marriage is blessed. My debts are cleared. I will let not my heart be troubled by these things.

Beloved, I cannot let not for you. Your family and friends cannot let not for you. Only you can let not your heart be troubled. So guard your heart from being troubled. You don’t have to guard your career, reputation, children or even health. When you guard your heart, God will guard everything else for you!

HE SATISFIES YOU

They shall not be put to shame in the time of evil; and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. – Psalm 37:19, AMP

Are you expecting to see God supernaturally show up in your life? Are you expecting increase and abundance? Notice this verse tells us that the righteous, those who follow God’s commands, will be satisfied even in times of famine. Even when it looks like resources are slim, God has a plan to provide for His people.

God always shows Himself strong on behalf of the people who seek Him first — even during the most difficult times. No matter what you may be facing today, God wants to show Himself strong for you. He wants to make a way where there seems to be no way. He wants to satisfy you and bless you abundantly so that you can reach out and be a blessing to the people around you. Take a step of faith today and begin to declare His promises over your life. Declare that He is the One who satisfies you and expect to see His goodness in your life!

“Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass” (Psalm 37:7).

Learn to rest in God and allow Him to manifest your heart’s desires. He does not want you to be jealous of wicked men who prosper. Wait on Him to meet all of your needs. He will give you over and above what the world could ever provide.

GOD WORKS IN THE SIMPLE THINGS

If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. – John 14:7

Knowing Jesus is knowing the Father. This is not only because Jesus did exactly what He saw His Father do, but Jesus was God in the flesh.

The disciples didn’t realize that seeing Jesus was seeing God. They were expecting something more. Many times we miss seeing God work in our lives and circumstances because we are looking for something stupendous. Although it is true that God is totally awesome, He doesn’t usually choose to manifest Himself in that way.

God spoke to Elijah not in the fire, wind, or an earthquake, but in a still, small voice. Jesus didn’t come to this earth in a grand way by man’s standards, but was born to poor parents in a stable. Isaiah 53:2 says that Jesus had no form nor beauty that would make us think that He was anything more than a mere man.

Paul reveals in 1 Corinthians 1:27-29, that God chooses to do things this way so that no flesh will glory in His presence. The Lord wants us to focus on Him through faith and not concentrate on the physical things He uses. In the Old Testament when the Lord did use visible instruments to release His power, the Israelites made idols out of those things.

Just as the disciples saw Jesus but didn’t realize that what they saw was God, likewise, God is infinitely involved in our everyday lives, but we miss Him because we are blinded by our carnal minds. The primary reason that God chooses to use those who are nothing by the world’s standards is so that no one else will take the credit for the great things that are accomplished.

PROPHETIC MINISTRY

AF

Prophetic Ministry and Familiar Spirits

Every prophetic ministry should learn how to avoid familiar spirits. Prophets carry a great blessing for the body of Christ. They also have a significant responsibility to guard their ministries from demonic encroachment while avoiding familiar spirits.

As prophets mature in their ministries they quickly learn to “wait for the unction” of the Holy Spirit before moving out in their gifting. This is how they keep defilement and spiritual corruption out of their lives and ministries. The Apostle Peter made it clear that men of God wait on the Holy Ghost, “Knowing this first that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost” (2 Peter 1:20-21).

Prophecy from the Holy Spirit was never spoken by “the will of man,” that is to say, by man’s will. This is significant and fundamental in prophetic ministry. This teaches if one prophesies by faith only, without any Holy Ghost unction, then they wrongly prophesy according to their own will and not Gods. This is the indicator of a presumptuous and self-willed prophet who can easily tap into deceiving spirits of divination. To avoid familiar spirits the mature prophet will wait on the unction from the Lord. Prophecy is serious ministry and should not be taken lightly. To meddle in prophetic ministry outside the unction is dangerous and damaging to the lives of precious people.

Prophesying is not something done solely by faith. Prophecy is not by the prophet’s faith and will exclusively. Faith alone does not force the Holy Spirit to speak. You have a measure of faith involved but the prophet is not making prophetic utterance come by faith. The seasoned prophet understands this and is able to protect himself and others from prophetic error. Again, prophecy is not about faith, will or emotion, it’s about waiting for the Holy Ghost to move.

The prophet is only a spokesman. If the Holy Spirit decides to speak He will but the prophet must wait for the unction offered according to the direct will of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:11). Let’s look at the pattern for a safe prophetic release, “Holy men spake as they were moved (compelled and prompted) by the Holy Ghost.” True prophetic utterance is always with Holy Ghost unction. Unction is God’s permission to speak on His behalf. If there is no unction, then the prophet is acting by assumptive faith decoupled from the Holy Spirit’s prompting. This is unsafe.

Unction, Greek chrisma, means anointing. Those that prophesy by presumptuous faith are in danger of tapping into a demonic spirit of divination. This is the realm where high-level occult spirits gain access into the lives of Christians, churches and ministries. Again this reveals the seriousness of the prophet’s ministry and responsibility of every believer to judge prophecy according to the written word of God.

Divination is foretelling (prophesying) the future by occult means. As already said prophecy should come only after you receive Holy Ghost unction to speak. This is the biblical pattern taught us in the Word and demonstrated by the prophets of old that were first “moved by the Holy Ghost.” Remember, unction for the prophet is the permission of the Holy Spirit to speak. After you receive permission then use your faith and surrender to the will of the Spirit and prophesy.

Five steps for avoiding familiar spirits are:

  1. Knowing when the Holy Spirit wants to speak.
  2. Receiving the Holy Spirit’s permission, rightfully called the unction.
  3. Using faith to surrender to the Holy Spirit’s unction.
  4. Speaking what the Holy Spirit has to say.
  5. Judging the prophetic word according to Scripture.

SET PROPHETS, MANTELS AND ACTIVATION

Fivefold ascension gift prophets carry a prophetic mantle. In the New Testament we refer to the office of the prophet as one of the fivefold ascension gifts given by Christ to “perfect the saints for the work of ministry” (Ephesians 4:11). When Elijah was ushered into heaven he dropped his prophetic mantle to Elisha. Elisha was already called into the prophetic ministry before this event. The mantle terminology is an Old Testament term referring to the prophet’s ministry. New Testament prophets are better described as gifted but we can still use the illustration of mantle to explore prophetic operations.

I have seen the effects of this prophetic mantle on the prayer lives of people that come into contact with it. One day some people were praying together. As I listened many in the group were prophesying. What was striking to me was these people had never prophesied before. So what was it that was different in this particular group? There was a man with a prophetic mantle on his life among them. He was a fivefold ascension gift prophet. The reason these others were able to prophesy was they were picking up on his prophetic gift. This expresses the need for fivefold ascension gift prophets in local churches because their gift activates the prophetic among the general assembly. This is healthy within the biblical context because true prophetic utterance exalts and magnifies Christ and is “the testimony of Jesus” (Revelation 19:10).

This also points out the necessity of prophetic maturity among the ministry’s leadership. Avoiding familiar spirits is the responsibility of all but especially those in senior leadership within the local church. Scripture gives examples of prophetic activation when King Saul sent messengers to capture David. Watch the prophetic anointing come on these people after they came into contact with Samuel and the company of prophets.

“Saul sent messengers to take David: and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying and Samuel standing as appointed over them, the spirit of God was on the messengers of Saul and they also prophesied. And when it was told Saul, he sent other messengers and they prophesied likewise. And Saul sent messengers again the third time and they prophesied also. Then went he also to Ramah and came to a great well that is in Sechu: and he asked and said, ‘Where are Samuel and David?’ And one said, ‘Behold, they be at Naioth in Ramah.’ And he went thither to Naioth in Ramah: and the spirit of God was upon him also, and he went on and prophesied until he came to Naioth in Ramah. And he stripped off his clothes also and prophesied before Samuel in like manner and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Wherefore they say, ‘Is Saul also among the prophets?’” (1 Samuel 19:20-24.)

Did you notice who was in those meetings? It was Samuel. He was “standing as appointed over them.” The word “appointed” natsab means set. Samuel was the “set prophet” among this group. There is something to be said about prophetic activation when fivefold ascension gift prophets are present. When the messengers of Saul came into contact with Samuel “they also prophesied.” It is doubtful they were trying to muster much faith to do it. I believe a strong unction from the Holy Ghost came on them followed by a measure of faith.

Let’s look at Ezekiel’s release to prophesy for a better understanding of avoiding familiar spirits and receiving prophetic permission. Ezekiel was a seasoned man that knew the Holy Spirit well. He models another safety feature in avoiding familiar spirits. He would not prophesy until told. Scripture says, “So I prophesied as I was commanded” (Ezekiel 37:7). In this verse Ezekiel, a mature prophet of God, understood that he was not to prophesy until the Lord released him to do so. We, too, can learn from his example.

It is all right to sense the prophetic anointing but don’t speak “thus saith the Lord” unless God releases you through prompting by the Holy Spirit. If you prophesy by faith without unction, outside God’s permission, you are in danger of tapping into a spirit of divination. This is a sobering truth but if you tap into a spirit of divination you release witchcraft over the people. This wrong prophetic operation is taking place today and needs to be stopped. God has not called His prophetic people to be fortune-tellers but those that offer edification, exhortation and comfort. Wrong prophetic operations open the door for all kinds of high-level occult spirits of divination. Avoid them at all cost.

During a powerfully anointed service I asked God if he wanted me to prophesy to the people. I don’t do this anymore because I have learned to look for the unction. I could tell they were pulling on me for a prophetic word. Most seasoned prophets can relate to that feeling. The Spirit of God said, “No.” Could I have prophesied anyway? The answer is “yes” but I would have been in error. As said repeatedly, if you prophesy without God’s permission you can tap into a familiar spirit.

A man told me he received a prophetic revelation from the Lord. I asked him to share it with me and he said, “It is way too deep and nobody was ready for it.” I said, “Brother, you need to be careful with that. If you have a revelation from God you need to let the prophet’s judge” (1 Corinthians 14:29). All prophecies need to be judged, examined and weighed against the logos of God. Scripture says, “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God because many false prophets are gone out into the world” (1 John 4:1). Don’t get distracted by the term false prophets. False prophets don’t start their ministries as false prophets. They start them just like you did with sincerity of heart and a love for Christ. It’s what happens along the way that decides their destiny. If they learn how to avoid familiar spirits they can make it. If they don’t they fail. It’s that simple.

Prophets make mistakes and some prophesies are wrong. Scripture says that we “see through a glass darkly” (1 Corinthians 13:12). If prophets and prophecies were always accurate then people would be tempted to follow prophets instead of Jesus. All prophecy needs to be tested for accuracy. Period.  This helps close the door to familiar spirits.

SAVED FROM MY ENEMIES

AAMy Cup Runs Over

Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can you say, ‘You will be made free’?” Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. “And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. John 8:31-36

Those who are Christians abide in God’s Word and they know what God in Christ has wrought for them. They enjoy and walk in what God through the Word and the Spirit has wrought in them. They know what they are to the Father in Christ and what power and authority they have in Christ including the power of their words. They confess the Lordship of Jesus and that they have become the righteousness of God and are saved. God’s word is unchanging:

You will also declare a thing, And it will be established for you; So light will shine on your ways. Job 22:28

Now in the morning, as He returned to the city, He was hungry. And seeing a fig tree by the road, He came to it and found nothing on it but leaves, and said to it, “Let no fruit grow on you ever again.” Immediately the fig tree withered away. And when the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, “How did the fig tree wither away so soon?” So Jesus answered and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done. “And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” Matthew 21:18-22

Yes, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will say to a mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done. And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive because you know who you are in Christ, a son of god. Yes, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creation” (2 Corinthians 5:17). He is a new creation created in Christ Jesus with the life of God, the nature of God, and the ability of God in him. In Christ we have our redemption through His blood, the remission of our trespasses according to the riches of His grace, which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence. (Ephesians 1:7-8).

Satan’s dominion has been broken. He lost his dominion over our life the moment we became a new creation. We received a new Lord, Jesus Christ, to reign over us. Satan’s dominion ended and Jesus’ dominion began. Disease and sickness can no longer lord it over us. The old habits can no longer lord it over us. We are a new creation created in Christ. Yes, He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world. God’s word is unchanging:

“But you, Israel, are My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, The descendants of Abraham My friend. You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, And called from its farthest regions, And said to you, ‘You are My servant, I have chosen you and have not cast you away: Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ “Behold, all those who were incensed against you Shall be ashamed and disgraced; They shall be as nothing, And those who strive with you shall perish. You shall seek them and not find them- Those who contended with you. Those who war against you Shall be as nothing, As a nonexistent thing. For I, the LORD your God, will hold your right hand, Saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’ Isaiah 41:8-13

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Romans 8:31-32

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:2-4

Yes, if God be for us, who can be against us? God is in us now; the Master of creation is in us! Greater is He that is in us than all the forces that can be arrayed against us including poverty, lack, bills, sickness, disease, demons, and frail mortal men. We can with boldness proclaim “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. (Psalm 23:5)! For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5).

Yes, we are filled with joy and victory because God has taken us over; He is fighting all our battles.” We are not afraid of negative circumstances because we can do all things in Him who strengthens us. And He is not only our strength but He is at our right hand. He is our salvation, our shield, our defender, our rewarder, our all. He gives us light in the dark and songs in the night. He is our present help in trouble, our salvation, our deliverance from every trap the enemy sets for us, from, every snare in which he would enslave us. God is the strength of our life, of whom shall we be afraid?” We are not afraid of anything! We have no fear because this God of Omnipotence is on our side.

We have a redemption that God planned and wrought in Christ. We are a new creation of which God, Himself, is the Author and the Finisher. We have a righteousness that permits us to stand in His presence as though sin had never been done. We have not only have righteousness reckoned to us we have righteousness imparted to us in the new nature that we have received from Him. We have received His nature His life. And in this life and nature is-the Life of God. This makes us righteous even as He is righteous. God’s word is unchanging:

No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world. Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God and God in him. Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the Day of Judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. 1 John 4:12-18

There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, And a Branch shall grow out of his roots. The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD. His delight is in the fear of the LORD, And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, Nor decide by the hearing of His ears; But with righteousness He shall judge the poor, And decide with equity for the meek of the earth; He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, And with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked. Righteousness shall be the belt of His loins, And faithfulness the belt of His waist. Isaiah 11:1-5

Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening? Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh. Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. James 3:11-18

God abides in us and we abide in God. As He is, so are we in this world. We are fearless and righteous and bold as a lion and do greater works than Jesus did. We are not hemmed in by limitations because we are united with the Limitless One. He is the Vine and we are the branch. As a branch we bear His fruit because the Vine is imparting to us the fullness of His life. We love because He has shed abroad His love in our heart through the Holy Spirit. God’s very nature in us is love. His love ability has gained the mastery for now we can love in whatever circumstances we are placed especially the brethren.

We have not only God’s life in us and the great Holy Spirit who rose up Jesus from the dead in us to give us wisdom, discernment, knowledge, understanding and power but we have the use of Jesus’ name. Jesus has given to us a legal right to use it. Hence whatever we ask of the Father in His Name, He gives to us. He has given to us the power of attorney. And we can use that that power to help men. We can let Jesus working His own work through us and live His own life in us. Our hands and mouths become the medium through which His life pours out through us. Our words are His words. His words ‘broke the power of death, of demons, and healed the sick.’ They do the same things in our lips. God’s word is unchanging:

“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.” And they shall rebuild the old ruins, They shall raise up the former desolations, And they shall repair the ruined cities, The desolations of many generations. Strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, And the sons of the foreigner Shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers. But you shall be named the priests of the LORD, They shall call you the servants of our God. You shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, And in their glory you shall boast. Isaiah 61:1-6

BELOVED

AA
 YOU ARE GOD’S BELOVED

Ephesians 1:6 – to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

At the Jordan river, Jesus heard His Father say to Him, You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased. (Luke 3:22) Later, in the wilderness, Jesus heard the devil say to Him, If You are the Son of God (Luke 4:3)

Notice that the devil not only questioned Jesus sonship, but he also dropped the word beloved when he said to Jesus, If You are the Son of God You see, the devil cannot remind you that you are Gods beloved because when you know this truth, whatever he wants to bring against you will not succeed!

Many girls are giving away their virginity because they need to feel wanted and loved. And young boys join gangs to feel accepted because they have been rejected and made to feel worthless by others.

But when you know that you are Gods beloved, no temptation can succeed against you, not even the giants who may taunt you. Consider David who slew Goliath. David in Hebrew means beloved. It takes a David to knock down a giant. In other words, it takes someone who knows that he is Gods beloved to win the fights of life!

You are Gods beloved not because of what you do. Christ did everything. He is Gods Beloved. But God put you in Christ. That is why you are accepted in the Beloved. And what God said to Jesus, He says to you today: You are My beloved son. In you, I am well pleased.

So if the devil tells you, Hey, you call yourself Gods beloved after what you just did? have the assurance that it is not based on what you have done, but what Christ has done. And you are still Gods beloved because you are in Christ!

When you say that, I believe the devil screams in frustration because he has no power over you when you are conscious that you are Gods beloved. There is truly a place of safety when you know that you are His beloved.

My friend, we are not being proud when we call ourselves Gods beloved. How can we boast when we know that it is God’s grace that has made us accepted in the Beloved!

THE WORD FROM THE TOP (5)

‘You shall not commit adultery.’ Exodus 20:14 NIV

The seventh commandment says, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But Jesus takes it one step further by saying, ‘Anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery… in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better…to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.’ (Matthew 5:28–29 NIV) You’re not responsible for what you see, but you are responsible for what you continue to look at. Paul told Timothy, ‘Flee…youthful lusts’ (2 Timothy 2:22 NKJV); and James writes, ‘After desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full–grown, gives birth to death.’ (James 1:15NIV) Immorality in practice or in thought can result in the death of your marriage, your self–respect, your influence, and your joy. In The Door, theologian Mike Yaconelli writes: ‘Author Susan Howatch made a fortune writing blockbuster novels… She had houses in several countries, drove a Porsche, and after divorcing had a number of “transient liaisons”. But at age thirty, she said, “God seized me by the scruff of the neck… and shook me until my teeth rattled.” Now a Christian, she reflects: “I was promiscuous, but finally one morning I woke up and said, ‘What am I trying to prove, and to whom?’ I knew exactly what—that, even though my marriage broke up, I could still attract men. The fact that I could control men boosted my fractured ego.” What was her conclusion? Promiscuity is a sign you’re not aligned right with God or yourself.’

THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY TO THE FATHER

John 14:5 – “Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?”

Thomas knew Jesus. He just didn’t realize Jesus was “the way.” Likewise, people today know portions of God’s Word but they don’t realize that God’s Word is their way to victory. Often, people cry out for God to speak to them while their Bible lays unopened on their nightstand. God has spoken to us through His Word. We just need to believe it and receive its truths as our way to victory.

Jesus didn’t say: “I am a way, a truth, and a life.” He claimed to be the only way, truth, and life. No man can come to the Father except through Jesus. This means that anyone who claims to honor Jesus while advocating other ways to get to God, truth, or life, besides Jesus, is deceived or a deceiver.

Jesus’ claims about Himself, of which there is only one, left no room for other means to salvation. He is either who He says He is, or He is the greatest deceiver of all time. His own statements about Himself leave no other alternatives. Therefore, other religions that recognize Jesus and His teachings as wonderful examples, but don’t believe He is the only way to achieve salvation, are false.

The Word of God is a spiritual book written under the direction of the Holy Spirit. It was not written to our head but to the innermost part of our heart. This is why some people find the Bible so hard to understand. They are trying to comprehend it using only their mind. The Word of God has to inspire our heart before it can enlighten our mind.

 DAILY COMMUNION WITH THE LORD

Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” – Matthew 26:27–28

Why do we take the Holy Communion? Is it to get something out of the Lord? No, taking the Communion reminds us of what Jesus has already provided and accomplished for us at the cross.

My friend, has Jesus already made provision for our sins at the cross? Yes! Then you no longer have to live feeling condemned for your sins. Has Jesus already made provision for our healing at the cross? Yes! Then you no longer have to accept the disease in your body, and you can start believing Jesus for total healing. Has Jesus already made provision for our lack on the cross? Yes! Then you no longer have to accept lack and can start believing Jesus for His abundance to start flowing and manifesting in your life.

Beloved, take the Communion daily and have a fresh revelation of all the good that Jesus has already made provision for through His finished work.

UNDESERVED PRAISE

I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance. —Luke 5:32

Even before I could afford a self-cleaning oven, I managed to keep my oven clean. Guests even commented on it when we had them over for a meal. “Wow, your oven is so clean. It looks like new.” I accepted the praise even though I knew I didn’t deserve it. The reason my oven was clean had nothing to do with my meticulous scrubbing; it was clean because I so seldom used it.

How often, I wonder, am I guilty of accepting undeserved admiration for my “clean” life? It’s easy to give the impression of being virtuous; simply do nothing difficult, controversial, or upsetting to people. But Jesus said we are to love people who don’t agree with us, who don’t share our values, who don’t even like us. Love requires that we get involved in the messy situations of people’s lives. Jesus was frequently in trouble with religious leaders who were more concerned about keeping their own reputations clean than they were about the spiritual condition of those they were supposed to care for. They considered Jesus and His disciples unclean for mingling with sinners when they were simply trying to rescue people from their destructive way of life (Luke 5:30-31).

True disciples of Jesus are willing to risk their own reputations to help others out of the mire of sin.

Dear Lord, give me a heart of compassion for those who are lost in sin. Help me not to be concerned about what others think of me but only that Your holy name will be honored.

Christ sends us out to bring others in.

THE WORD FROM THE TOP (4)

‘You shall not murder.’ Exodus 20:13 NIV

The sixth commandment says, ‘You shall not murder.’ Now, most of us don’t need a lecture on murder, so let’s address the real issue: the tongue, which kills by destroying a person’s self–worth and future hopes. Paul writes: ‘All the law is fulfilled in…this: “You shall love your neighbour as yourself.” But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!’ (Galatians 5:14–15 NKJV) Who can forget the 1994 tabloid headline, ‘Killer bug ate my face’? The reporting was sensational, but the stories were based on factual cases of invasive streptococcal bacteria found in Gloucestershire. When invasive Strep A (which isn’t the same as strep throat [Bacterial tonsillitis]) takes hold, necrotising fasciitis can begin, which causes the victim’s flesh to die at the rate of several centimetres per hour. Meanwhile toxic shock sets in, shutting down organs and causing death. Dr Jeffrey Crowley describes what happens after the deadly microbes take hold: ‘The bacteria multiply rapidly, producing toxins… For three days the patient may suffer swollen lymph nodes, rising fever, and excruciating pain at the site of infection. Penicillin can stop the attack at this stage, but by day four, infected tissues start dying. Bacteria saturate the bloodstream, destroying muscles and organs, sending the body into shock, and death can follow within hours… invasive streptococcus is rare, but unforgiving.’ You say, ‘That’s gruesome!’ Yes, and so is gossip, and slander! They’re deadly. They make people feel worthless by destroying their self–esteem and undermining them to the point where life doesn’t seem worth living. Learn to guard your tongue and speak words that bring life, not death.
